The office Manager Mr. K (Kanal) is the best!!! Always addresses you by your name, comes over while doing therapy to greet you and ask you how you are feeling. Mr.K is very helpful, when negating your insurance or any other questions you might have. During my time at Active Care, there was a death in my family. Mr. K , remembered when I came back for PT he called me in his office to personally give his condolences and to ask me if there was anything that I needed or He could do to help me!! I have met many people who dealing with serious injuries at Perfect Stride but the atmosphere is so upbeat and supportive there is this sense that recovery is always in reach and being told things like " You are not your MRI" really helps. I came in after dealing with more than half a year of chronic pain in multiple places--my knee, hamstring, and random spots--that had completely sidelined my running. I had already tried several well-known running PT clinics around the city and continued to end up with lingering pain and zero trust in my providers or recovery plan. By the time I found Vikash, I was frustrated, burned out, and extremely fearful that I'd never get back to running. From day one, Vikash was different. He was the only PT who actually listened to what I'd been experiencing. He took the time to understand the full picture and built a thoughtful, personalized plan instead of a one-size-fits-all routine. What made the biggest difference, though, was how he guided me through the recovery process with positivity. I was extremely pessimistic when I started but overtime with his thoughtful and supportive approach, I began to feel more hopeful. He helped me understand that pain isn't always a setback, taught me how to work through it safely, and reframed how I think about my body and training. Those skills have been genuinely life-changing, and I know I'll carry them with me as an athlete forever. Tamar and her team give me…read morethe perfect combo of manual work (waaaaay more time than the measly 10min you'd get at a PT visit elsewhere) plus movement on their pilates and other equipment for strengthening weak muscles. Plus there are simple homework exercises to do and the phone app makes them easy to understand and finish on a timer, for people like me who hate PT homework it's like having a trainer there doing it with you. Almost instantly she cut my pain in half and I am definitely going back to do more sessions.... each time I go in I feel better. They have a personal trainer there too (as long as there is no lockdown) so once you move out of your injury you can learn functional movement and get in top shape with someone really good, in the same location. The office is really strict about Covid-19 procedures... they have air filters, sanitize everything etc. and of course you are masked and so are they (as of 12/2020). The professionalism and compassion of Tamar is bar none but especially her manual work on the rib cage and thoracic spine is unlike anything I have ever experienced with ANY PT or massage therapist, she got my ribs to move and that adjustment reduced pain in my hips far below. Everyone is really invested in doing what they can to support your healing journey. The front of house/behind the scenes team is also amazing. Scheduling is super easy as they are really responsive via email and phone. They do the hard legwork of calling insurance, figuring out benefits, etc so the billing process is very smooth. I wasn't sure what to expect, as most stories of physical therapy that I had heard over the years involved being given an exercise in a room full of people, with the therapist checking back in on you every 15 minutes. My experience with Rob could not have been better. I had his undivided attention for an hour every time I saw him. I found him to be responsive and creative. Questions were either answered immediately in a detailed manner, or he considered the question thoughtfully before giving his opinion. I never once felt that he was on auto-pilot. My therapy continued to change as I demonstrated progress -again, it never felt as if Rob were sticking to a prepared script. His work felt responsive to my needs each time I entered his office. I "graduated" from physical therapy with my shoulder greatly improved, and with an understanding of why the pain would occur and how I should address it in the future. I should add that I enjoyed his company. He's funny, smart, and gave me the sense that he truly cared about me. I really can't say enough good things about my physical therapy with Rob. As a full time dentist, my body takes a real beating, especially my lower back, so finding the right physical therapist was extremely important to me. I came in dealing with ongoing back pain and was starting to think more seriously about whether surgery might eventually be necessary. Since working with Conner, that trajectory has shifted in a very meaningful way. I'm not claiming magic, but so far I've been able to avoid surgery, and that is a huge win. What I really appreciate is that this is not the typical fluffy PT experience with endless generic stretches and exercises that don't feel connected to real strength or function. Conner takes a much more thoughtful approach. We do careful progressive overload with real attention to form, limitations, and precautions for my back. So I'm not just getting physical therapy. I'm also able to keep up with my training and strength work at the same time. That combination has been incredibly valuable for me. Conner is also just a pleasure to work with. He is easy to talk to, a great conversationalist, and he makes the sessions feel fun, challenging, and encouraging without ever losing sight of safety. He knows how to push appropriately while still being careful. The new facility is another big plus. It feels modern, professional, and well set up for both rehab and training, which fits this style of treatment perfectly. It does not feel like a stale or overly clinical PT office. The early morning hours work really well for my schedule, and the location is very convenient and easy to access by the L train. Being so central in Manhattan makes it easy to get to. This past July, I hurt myself during yoga (a result and mix of over-exercising/working out/pandemic stress) and I was referred to this practice. Before then, I had never injured myself physically and was experiencing - what I soon came to recognize - a high level of anxiety previously unknown to me. As someone who always felt extremely strong, both physically and mentally, I felt like a stranger in my own body. Dr. Niv (Zack) was my primary therapist and (while I wish I had never injured myself or had to learn what anxiety was) I consider it a major blessing that of all the PT's in the world, I somehow happened to find him. He is an expert, serious professional, and all around fantastic human being. I have never felt more safe, taken care, understood, or truly heard by a health care professional ever in my life. The care I received was always personalized and thoughtful. I always felt like he wanted to hear what was on my mind/concerns/etc. His understanding of the body and mind is incredible. My treatment always felt like an extremely educated and human approach. Something I (and everyone else) desperately needed. I could go on! While I am essentially recovered, I wish I could visit this practice every week. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough. Also noteworthy: The front desk staff are amazing - incredibly easy to make or change an appointment, assist with insurance/billing related questions or problems. The facility is clean & welcoming. I came in a few months ago and he gave me a shot of cortisone for a hand issue. A few weeks later, perhaps not giving it enough time, I returned as the pain had returned. He immediately wanted me to go in for surgery. He felt, with justification I am sure, that another cortisone shot would not help. What about physical therapy? I've had that in the past when my other hand came down with a similar issue. He was adamant. No! It would make things worse! I went in to see a physical therapist anyway. I had improvement almost immediately. I now have ZERO problems with that hand. The surgery would not have been necessary, it would have put me in a cast, it would have been painful, and of course it would have inhibited my activity for a period of time. He failed to recognize that physical therapy might be of assistance, he incorrectly told me it would "make things worse" when it made things better, and I am going elsewhere in the future,
