The worst company. Check for illegal immigrants as workers can't read, write or even locate a gas line. Always some explosion somewhere and now they have killed people. Fire them rthis country desrves better suppliers and service. My meter was wrong they had never in 20 years .Then I asked them to paint it to match they got paint all over my home and it does not come off. At least due to them saving money by firing people they can do it remotely which has been around for 15-20 years. Pitiful. On Thursday night 1/23 between 10:00 p.m. to midnight, ATMOS workers were in our alley digging up all kinds of wires and didn't appear to be to careful. We lost our WiFi connection so my husband went to speak with the guys and could see wires cut and a big mess around all the utility boxes. They basically dig up everything. Our provide, Frontier, has no live person that can be reached so on Friday my husband had to schedule a service call through an automated service which made an appointment for Monday. He has to take off a half day to be home from 8:00 am to noon waiting for a frontier visit. How do companies get away with treating customers so poorly. ATMOS can go around causing damage and not be responsible for fixing it??? ATMOS is a TERRIBLE COMPANY but we have no other options where we live. We are stuck with them. read more

This is the 3rd time in recent years that I got gas meter misreading that causing the overcharged by Atmos Energy Corporation. Especially in the cold winter time with cold front happens. Make me wonder it's on purpose or what but I am the victims of this practices. My case is from my January bill statement the meter reading from this company is from 2109 to 2324 which consumes 215 CCF so I got charged almost $400.00 even I just replaced the whole home HVAC system. I took photos of the Gas Meter outside and the meter shown as 2259 and it well below 2324 even after 5 days the last read. In my area, Atmos is the only Gas provider. No competition no improvement and monopoly is always lead to corruptions. Don't know when we can see more providers that we can choose from like Electricity. read more

I've finally snapped. Atmos Energy has been ripping me off for most of the 11 years I've used them. Their own employees have admitted to me they don't actually read the meter. Just guess. So for the last year. I take a pic of the meter every month, because I know they will be trying to rip me off and as usual I have to send them the actual meter reading. This company deserves a lawsuit. One month it was over by 100 CCF when my usual bill is like 10 CCF, yet they are so unprofessional they don't even bother noticing. Now, I haven't even been home for the last 3 weeks and had a friend take the pic for me and as usual my bill is double the actual meter CCF reading. Funny how it's never too low. Atmos is the king of Ripoff artists and they couldn't care less. read more

Atmos showed up without any warning to dig up the yard. In the process, the have broken my sprinkler line and my foundation watering system. They just covered all back up without fixing it. You are going to kill my entire yard and mess up the foundation of my house. I will have cracks in my house if it is not watered properly. Will you cover the cost of a new yard and repairs to my house from cracking? After messing all of this up, they have still yet to replace the gas meter. Great work, Atmos. read more

I want to write a review about Atmos Energy. I've been living in North Dallas since 2005. I have Atmos Energy for hot water and heat. I've had issues with them off and on ever since I moved here. First I had no idea about how much it would cost to run gas for hot water, heat etc in Texas. I'm from California(San Diego)and my average gas bill from SDGE was approximately $60 a month. Month or so after, I've lived here, I received a bill for like over $1000! I knew something was wrong, so I had them come out to diagnose the problems and the tech found that there was leak and fixed it. They refused to adjust my bill and lost the report of leak repair(suspicious) and they explained the high charges on Hurricane Katrina which they later denied saying. I set up a payment plan and they still turned my gas off and cancelled my payment plan. I lived without gas/hot water/heat for 4 years. I was upset and not going to pay due to the principle of it. Consequently, I paid it to turn the gas back on, because ice cold shower was very brutal. Fast forward to Oct 2020, My husband had noticed a gas smell by our pool equipment. I contacted Atmos Energy and they were so quick to put the lock on the gas meter and turned off my service. I had no choice as I didn't want my house to explode along with my neighbors. I didn't have money to fix this potentially expensive repair, so I waited until last week to contact a plumbing company. It turned out it was all corroded and messed up(gas pipe)and I was quoted $2500-$7000, but it turned out to be $5628.29(?). They did the job, passed the city inspection and all I was waiting on was Atmos Energy to come turn on my gas, but due to COVID and CDC guidelines, the technician will not come into my house, so I would had to have a plumber come and turn on the pilot light!!!! They didn't come today claiming that they had a gas emergency! I have to take another freezing cold shower tomorrow. At this point, I feel that Atmos Energy is using COVID and CDC guidelines as excuses not to do their job!!!! They even told me they'd be here at 5pm today, but no show and the plumber guy had to wait almost 2 hours!!! What I'm so upset about is they're so quick to pad lock my gas meter and turn off my gas in a NY minute, but to restore my service, they have excuses out the wazoo as to why they can't do it!!! They told me the technician will be there between 8am-12pm, but tries to be there at 9am. The plumber doesn't work like that!!! It costs $77 for them to make a service call!!! If Atmos tech comes in my house and turn on the pilot light, the plumber guy won't have to be there, but because of "COVID", they won't!!! I'm so upset and so fed up with Atmos! I wish I could do without gas, so I won't have to deal with Atmos and their ongoing nonsense. read more

I am just shocked that an employee of Atmos misread my meter, and I was overcharged due to an employee error. I called after I received a letter explaining the credit on my account. I explained that I did not want a credit but a refund. I couldn't believe that this company stole money from my account due to an employee and then wanted to give me credit. I have removed my autopay feature and will pay the bill monthly once I have reviewed the bill. Beware of ATMOS. read more

This is the most ridiculous corrupt company I have ever encountered. They can turn your gas off on the weekends while you're hosting a family reunion, but won't turn it on, then their "next available" is 3 days later. You can't go with another energy company bc they bought the zip code, or else I guarantee you they wouldn't be in business. If you can avoid buying a house in an area that they service I would suggest you do so. Atmos is a joke and they don't care about their customers in any way shape or form- as long as they're making their money you are dirt on their shoe. read more

Terrible service. If I could change gas companies I would. The fact that I'm now going to have to wait four business days to get service turned on is absurd. We are without heat or hot water, this situation usually is considered an emergency at other residence locations. On top of all of this two out of three people I have dealt with were very rude over the phone, including a manager. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. There are no other options for gas companies in my area. So unfortunately I've had multiple dealings with this company. Through no fault of my own they have repeatedly caused trouble with my service. If there was another option I would definitely take it. Anything would be better. And Their customer service representatives have no problem with just hanging up on you. I'm not an irate customer, I do not get belligerent or ridiculous. They just do not provide good service. AWFUL. They turn off our energy because THEY messed up Our auto pay. We called today to ask for someone to come out today to reconnect our energy AFTER WE gave them the correct billing info, again. They said the soonest they can come is 4/24 from 8-12. How is my family supposed to take a shower for 40 hours? Seriously AWFUL. Was hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning almost 3 weeks ago from a leak in the house I rent. Atmos offers ZERO protection for tenants of rental properties, and has no policies in place to ensure landlords fix leaking appliances. I understand the landlord is responsible, however as a company when the fire department is called out and when a leak comes to your attention that is filling a home with LETHAL amounts of carbon monoxide, I find it unbelievable that you'd switch the gas back on. Additionally, because the levels in my home were so high, and I was taken to the hospital, I was not present for the discussion between my landlord and the field technician. Atmos does not provide documentation of the discussion or findings without a subpoena from a judge. Every phone conversation I've had I've been told something different. Nobody is helping me get any answers. I now have a ~$10,000 hospital bill and don't feel safe in my own home. Doesn't seem to bother them one bit. They could use some serious training in customer service and morality. This company is putting customers in danger. read more

Idiots come out and read my next door neighbor's meter and charge it to our bill $945 bucks.. we complain so they come out to do a reread of our meter and again go to my neighbors house. We then notice that the glass is broken on our meter so we request they come out and replace it, they setup an appointment and say they will call when they are coming ... they showed up without calling and because I was in the backyard they assumed no one was home. Called their customer service number and basically said it was my fault. I hate these rotten bastards and would be gone in a heart beat if they weren't the only game in town. read more

I live in Washington State and own a house in Denton, TX. I contacted ATMOS at (940) 380-7450 on 8/19 to connect the gas and they stated they will come on 8/20. I asked for a courtesy call on my cell when the technician is on its way. I stated I needed a 15 min. heads up for the real estate agent to open the house (the house is for sale). The ATMOS dispacth booking agent stated 'OK the technician will call you'. I received call from the technician who stated 'i am on my way, if nobody is there I will turn around', no hello, no goodbye, no willingness to listen. The real estate agent was there in 15 min and found the sign on the door that the technician had turned around. I made another appointment for 8/21 morning and hired a handyman to 'house sit' at 50$ an hour from 8 AM to 12 PM. The ATMOS technician didn't ring the bell or knock on the door, although the handyman was inside the house with his truck in the driveway. My complain for the 1st missed appointment is that nowhere on the ATMOS website or thru the booking process was I told that a 15 min phone call (before the visit to allow the house to be opened) was not acceptable. If this is not stated how could i know ? My complain for the 2nd missed appointment is that the technician didn't try to knock on the door or ring the bell and disregarded obvious sign that someone was in the house (the handyman pick up was in the driveway). When I called back to make another booking, I was told by the ATMOS dispatch booking agent that I was lying (that nobody was in the house for the second visit). The ATMOS dispatch staff stand 100% behind their technician and disregarded the comments from methe customer. My perception is that ATMOS has a monopoly and the customer has no choice if she/he wants her/his gas open to go thru: 1) lack of clear instructions, 2) lack of process (must ring bell, knock on door), 3) mistrust of the end user (customer must lie). read more

Is it possible to award negative stars? New to ATMOS. Actually much worse then other negative Yelp reviews make them out to be. Purchased a new home. Unfortunate for us ATMOS is the sole natural gas utility provider for the area. Our ATMOS experience is no different than the others. A week after purchasing our home we disconnected both our hot water heater and HVAC for remodeling. These are the only two sources of natural gas use in our home and we hadn't used either since purchasing our home and both were still disconnected when we received our first bill. That didn't stop ATMOS from billing us to the tune of $100 dollars! When my wife called to ask about the bill, she was told she she had requested starting service a full week before we closed on and owned the property. When my wife said this was not the case, she was told that she was lying. The ATMOS representative had a supervisor pull the call that set up service. Only then did they correct the service start date but added we shouldn't expect to see a change in our bill...WTF!? Horrible, horrible incompetent customer service. Really the worst. Result of extraordinarily poor management and having no competition for service. Written several positive Yelp reviews, this is my first negative one. The level of incompetence is absolutely mind boggling. The only answer you can get from customer service is "we're sorry". If there were another option for our gas delivery service I would choose them. After my meter not working for months, all the while they billed me, they come out and replace the meter and turn off my gas. I'm in the driveway and no one bothers to tell me that they need in the house to run a pressure test before the gas can be turned on. Instead they place a note on the door and I don't see it until I return home hours later. Now I'm on a waiting list to have my gas turned back on. A paying customer in good standing is left without gas all afternoon and now into the evening with no reconnect in site. They didn't call to tell me this was going to happen today, they didn't email, they didn't send anything in the mail and they didn't leave anything on the door the day before. No, they just show up and turn it off and leave. Then tell me I have to be here for them to turn it back on, there's no time frame on reconnect and all their technicians are busy. What I really think of them would get my post banned. read more
