I flew 800 miles to Louisville, and my brother took a day off of work and came up from Nashville. On Monday (the day before the move), we were informed my mother would not be admitted due to a psychiatric issue she has. She is not dangerous, she's a lovely person. The blame was passed around like wildfire, with Treyton Oak blaming her current facility for not getting the information they needed in a timely manner and blaming an employee we previously worked with who had been fired. They never once reached out to me to help them get the info (I think they dropped the ball and would not admit any error on their part). I have since heard some not-so-nice things about this place. I'm not saying don't consider them, I'm simply issuing a warning so no one gets put in the awful place we were put by these people at Treyton Oak. Just do your homework first and make sure all the "i's" are dotted and "t's" are crossed before you make any final plans. They have a new executive director and have had some personnel turnover. There are other, I think better, places in Louisville to consider.

Southern Care does have some kind caring staff, but we were assigned an inexperienced nurse who was inattentive and really only wanted to leave as soon as possible. Prescriptions were a nightmare, the technician for setting up oxygen left with the tank wrench. In the most basic sense, when we needed them at times they wouldn't come. There is no way I would recommend or use this company. You have a few choices in Southern Indiana, this work is important, I would look elsewhere.

We had dealings with counselors, clergy, nurses, etc and all were at the top of their games. I visited my mother 6 to 7 times per week but this staff provided extra sets of eyes on my mom during her declining battle with cancer. The group from SouthernCare - New Albany worked with the staff at mom's nursing home/residence to provide the type of additional care that I needed help with. I won't go into details but this team helped me keep my mother's pain level under control and made her comfortable when she was at her worst. Advice was provided and help was only a phone call or text away. They were hands on without being dominating and this service which is free was priceless.

This New Year's Eve I joined her for their NYE party, which wrapped up early enough for me to join some friends for a shindig later. Weekly housekeeping is very good. There are daily specials, and the regular menu is very extensive. Laundry facilities on each floor are free. The facility is very clean, updated, with additional activities on each floor (i.e. bridge/cards, jigsaw puzzles, Mah Jong, etc.) The residents were very friendly, upbeat, and happy. She really enjoyed it there. Brownsboro Park is privately owned by a family in MN. I believe this is what keeps costs down vs. 'chain' facilities. The owners come down on a regular basis to meet with the residents. Oh, I neglected to mention the beautifully kept grounds. A pond, Gazebo, and lovely walking paths. There are quite a few places to sit outdoors.
