The accommodations are impeccable. Warm, homey and immaculate, The Residences feels like a community. The kind and caring staff provide excellent support and service, from the event coordinators and directors to the wait staff and other helpers. My 8 year old and her friends love to visit. We've enjoyed concerts and dinners with Dad, and he's gone to lectures, movies and other events. Only wish I were 88!

My mom was a resident for nearly 3 years. My dad only lasted 6 months. I was not legally in charge…read moreof their care, but I visited almost daily. During my mom's time there she was beaten up. Sadly, it was not the first injury encountered there, nor the last (my camera roll is heartbreaking). Most went unnoticed by staff, yet all were conveniently deemed to be "self-inflicted" once brought to light. Visits found mom either in bed where she was left unattended for hours and/or dirty (clothing, hands, face, nails and usually her diaper). Diapers went unchecked for hours, and if I alerted staff near shift change or during lunch/break the delay was worse. Her room was usually dirty, and roaches were a common find. Mom ultimately died from an abscessed tooth and unfortunately hospice was also done there. Mom had bedsores on her back and her heels. She had roaches crawl across her death bed. She ran out of oxygen on more than one occasion. I had to fight to get standard prescribed hospice drugs administered. Mom was dirty, smelled awful and getting the attention of staff was nearly impossible. My dad died days after he was transferred due to his "violent nature." Dad pushed a resident who would consistently enter his room, or my mom's, to take stuff or lay in their beds; the same resident who hit me in the chest (documented); and yes, the same one believed by management to have beaten up my mom shortly after my dad passed. Amazingly he remains there today. My dad was transferred to Plainview Hospital to "get his meds adjusted." Upon arrival he was heavily sedated, and within days transferred to a hospice facility and died. My dad was walking, talking, eating and coherent the day he was transferred to the hospital. Then within a couple of days, he was gone. No one really knows what goes on in this facility. There are no cameras in the residents' common areas. The nurses' station is situated where nurses cannot see into any resident hallways or rooms. Even the dayrooms, where most residents are left all day, do not have any security cameras. Loved one's safety and security is at risk. Residents' families are not allowed to place cameras because of NYS law. That needs to change. I beg admin and the owners to take steps to improve the care given to and the safety of residents. I encourage any organization that visits or reviews the facility to do a more thorough job and look deeper. Government needs to do more to protect the residents and provide a way for families to communicate issues privately and not to the possible detriment of residents. As it stands, desire for profits outdo resident care; government turns a blind eye, and "audits" are done during agreed upon times and look at minimal case files. I mostly encourage anyone considering this facility to look elsewhere; and, if there visit often and be an advocate for your loved one.

My father died on February 19, 2026 after weeks of a worsening cough and confusion that I…read morerepeatedly reported to the Bristal's contracted doctor and which were repeatedly dismissed. Dr. Jason Ford was largely absent, leaving critical decisions to a nurse practitioner, Jared Newman, while I struggled to get answers for over a month. When my father was finally hospitalized, he had advanced sepsis, pneumonia, and a UTI, all conditions that were missed due entirely to Dr. Ford and NP Newman's neglect and indifference. He died the same day. This was a devastating failure of care, communication, and accountability. Instead of a physical examination, tests such as an EKG and chest X-ray were ordered. Yet I was forced to chase down results myself. I repeatedly expressed my concerns and explicitly requested that Dr. Ford evaluate him. Those requests were dismissed. I was told by Dr. Ford's office to wait until Dr. Ford was physically present at the facility to speak with him, days later and only during a narrow window before he left at 1 p.m. This level of inaccessibility and lack of urgency is, in my opinion, entirely unacceptable in a medical setting, particularly when dealing with a vulnerable, elderly patient with known congestive heart failure. Sylvia Henderson, the Director of Wellness at the Bristal, did not intervene or take any responsibility to check on my father's condition. He continued to deteriorate over the course of a month. (Interestingly, two positive Google reviews of Sylvia were written by her own family members shortly after his passing.) It is difficult to put into words the frustration, grief, and anger that comes from knowing that his painful deterioration and death may have been preventable or alleviated with more attentive, responsive, and physician-led care. I do not write this lightly. I write this because no family should have to beg for a doctor to see their loved one, only to have their concerns minimized until it is too late. The director of Bristal, Gina Young, said "this was not her experience with this medical practice." I was left with the distinct impression that my concerns were not taken seriously.

From everyone that works there to all the residents they all look out and care for one another. It starts at the top. If you have a caring staff that feels appreciated it shows in their work. And each person that worked there genuinely became part of the family. My dad received great care there until he passed. Even after he passed they put together a Celebration of Life. They invited family of those that passed and the residents to honor those that passed. They played a video montage they put together and whoever wanted to say a few words was encouraged. Beautifully done. Many heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Arbors at Westbury.

The Sunrise of East Meadow became an extended family to us. The care provided to my father was excellent and they also notified me of any changes in his condition, or medication needed. The staff was compassionate and they all seemed happy to help. This was an experience unlike my father's prior assisted living facility, which looked more upscale and provided better entertainment, but the care was really lacking. At Sunrise, everyone was kind and responsive, from the aides to the nursing staff to the Directors. I am so very grateful to them.

Clothes in the dressers and the closets that weren't theirs. No padding on the side of the beds so if they fell out, basically they hit cement floors. After the hip surgeries, they would not take them back must due time in a rehab. Called billing department to let them know and they had no idea of my parents conditions didn't even know they were not in the facility. Told me they would get back to me in the week never called back to check on them or even to ask me how things were going. Only that my rent was not received on time. I explained we weren't coming back due to the condition of my mother, which the doctor told me she was under nourished ,but they still said they wanted their money for the month that she wasn't even in the facility. When it comes to the billing, I never received my bill in the mail. I used to call and say, can you please just email it to me and when the woman would email me the bill she actually emailed me everyone's bill in-the facility. All of their clients addresses and bills were emailed to ME!!! Totally against the law. At that point, I told her that you emailed everyone's information to me and she begged and cried on the phone not to let anyone know. She begged me please don't tell anyone..This was a horrible experience and they are still trying to get money from us .My mother still recovering and now I see that they're giving away gift cards if you give them a good review... despicable you should be ashamed of yourself.

NEGATIVE STARS BEWARE…read more Absolutely no compassion or empathy for anyone who has difficult behaviors. No support for the family, zero guidance. The social worker is extremely unprofessional and had the nerve to talk to me after hours intoxicated and tell me how bad my loved one was. But where else was she going to go. She would get upset with my LO and treat her like a child. Never once did they help me find another placement. They would just send her to the hospital to get a psyc evaluation. I stayed because I was scared and didn't know where else to go etc. I should have moved my LO out after she was beaten up by her roommate when the facility knew they weren't getting along. I felt helpless. I thought this was our life now. They never sent my LO to the hospital for that. I thankfully found a new place that is so nice and respectful and helpful. I would never recommend Amber Court in Westbury.

Some staff don't seem to care at all, one even telling her that she was on break, and couldn't open her room door to assist her, as she's wheelchair bound. They accept enhanced Medicaid, which is why she's there ( she's 95 ). " recreation" is a joke. Residents sleeping with a tv on... not much else going on in the room. Anybody can just walk in to the place without having to say where they are going..... they have a face recognition machine, but don't use it.
