The accommodations are impeccable. Warm, homey and immaculate, The Residences feels like a community. The kind and caring staff provide excellent support and service, from the event coordinators and directors to the wait staff and other helpers. My 8 year old and her friends love to visit. I do have a few reservations though, due to what I've seen and heard. Right now, in the height of covid, they do not do ANY covid testing at the Atria at this senior living - they had told my mother and I that we needed to take my grandma across the street for testing when she was very sick about a month ago. First off, do you know how difficult it is to get a 90 year old women out of her chair? I mean, I would think they would have somewhat of an understanding considering it's a senior living, and MAYBE get a doctor in with a covid test? I mean, what if she did have covid? The Atria is OK with spreading disease to other residents? They also didn't keep her inside her room, and so, heaven forbid she had covid, a massive outbreak could have occurred due to irresponsibility and lack of caring for these people. I mean, really, does this show that they care about these senior residents? Refusing to get them covid tests even after seeing how sick some of their residents are?? Come on now.. A week or two ago, in addition, my grandma had tried calling the emergency line because she couldn't get out of bed one morning, and nobody had gone up to help her. Because of this, (eventually someone came in to check on her) she was on the floor at that point for a long period of time, and eventually taken to the hospital. Now, the other issue I have, is she has now been in the hospital for days. My family had to find out THROUGH THE HOSPITAL that the Atria was not allowing her, a paying resident, to come back into the Atria. But wait, you've already shown that you could care less by NOT testing any of your residents, so please explain why my grandma is not allowed back at this time??? Perhaps you can have some decency and contact my parents because we are STILL waiting on an answer.... All in all, I would not recommend this facility, and would stay far away. Your loved ones deserve better than this place.

Upon further negotiation discussion with Doug we decided not to move our mother to this place. Doug cannot give us what each level was in the benchmark program only the price. All of their activities end at 3:30 followed by dinner which was not good for the care of our mother. The organization seems more centered around the acquisition, then giving us more information about how her mother and be cared for. The conversation with Doug really did not make me feel confident about the organization. They charge us $7500 entrance fee which was not explain what that was used towards. Their increase per year on rent is 8% which is much higher than other assisted-living's in the area/memory care. Furthermore since January the price of their level increased well over $800 without an explanation except for we are keeping an eye on the industry. Overall, the conversation did not make me feel confident nor warm and fuzzy about moving my mother during a rough time time for her and our family. I was super bummed because the place looks nice and has a nice garden for the benchmark memory care program but it seems like they have that hiring practices and can't keep employees long enough with a 50% employee retention which is not good.

My father died on February 19, 2026 after weeks of a worsening cough and confusion that I…read morerepeatedly reported to the Bristal's contracted doctor and which were repeatedly dismissed. Dr. Jason Ford was largely absent, leaving critical decisions to a nurse practitioner, Jared Newman, while I struggled to get answers for over a month. When my father was finally hospitalized, he had advanced sepsis, pneumonia, and a UTI, all conditions that were missed due entirely to Dr. Ford and NP Newman's neglect and indifference. He died the same day. This was a devastating failure of care, communication, and accountability. Instead of a physical examination, tests such as an EKG and chest X-ray were ordered. Yet I was forced to chase down results myself. I repeatedly expressed my concerns and explicitly requested that Dr. Ford evaluate him. Those requests were dismissed. I was told by Dr. Ford's office to wait until Dr. Ford was physically present at the facility to speak with him, days later and only during a narrow window before he left at 1 p.m. This level of inaccessibility and lack of urgency is, in my opinion, entirely unacceptable in a medical setting, particularly when dealing with a vulnerable, elderly patient with known congestive heart failure. Sylvia Henderson, the Director of Wellness at the Bristal, did not intervene or take any responsibility to check on my father's condition. He continued to deteriorate over the course of a month. (Interestingly, two positive Google reviews of Sylvia were written by her own family members shortly after his passing.) It is difficult to put into words the frustration, grief, and anger that comes from knowing that his painful deterioration and death may have been preventable or alleviated with more attentive, responsive, and physician-led care. I do not write this lightly. I write this because no family should have to beg for a doctor to see their loved one, only to have their concerns minimized until it is too late. The director of Bristal, Gina Young, said "this was not her experience with this medical practice." I was left with the distinct impression that my concerns were not taken seriously.

i'm leaving it in the middle because I'm still undecided. My father cannot speak. He cannot answer…read morethe phone. I put his cell phone with an app that I can ping him like a Nextel. I simply press the chirp, and when I hold it and talk, it instantly starts going through on his phone. I left his phone plugged in so that whenever I wanted to speak to him, he would hear me. I would message him in the morning afternoon and night update him throughout the day and make him feel like you know he's part of the family still. And then I get to the facility and find the phone unplugged and he never got any of the messages. And I complain about it. And then the next time it's the same thing. The last time I saw him he made significant improvement. I was actually able to speak to him most of the time. He would mumble a little bit, but it was much better than it was. I called to speak to him because I haven't been able to get there all weekend because they unplugged the phone. The woman says that he can't talk on the phone because he's not verbal. I said well did he just stop talking all of a sudden cause I just spoke to him last time I was there for an hour and a half. And I've been talking to him every time I go since he had the stroke. I just take the time to understand what he's saying instead of just saying oh he's mumbling. So these are not good. Another thing is I didn't know they had 10 people piled into one hot ass room. Of course with any facilities it's always maximization of money. I get it but these little things that can make the patient in the family's life's easier. Need to be accomplished. It's not much I'm asking for you to put the phone to ear for a minute. That's it does not touch the phone that I already had set up perfectly. I'll be back to see where we stand. I was upset and honestly wanted to leave a very negative review but I'll be fair. There were some people there that were very nice. Others not so much.

This is a family run business, and they truly care for the residents as though they are family as well. The difference between the Christian Fellowship House (30-40 residents) versus the larger facility my Mom had been in previously was truly night and day. All of the staff members were excellent in every way. I especially appreciated the ease of communication with staff members all of whom knew my Mom and her needs extremely well. It is a wonderful, immaculately clean facility in a beautiful location and I recommend them highly for anyone seeking compassionate and individualized care for a loved one.

The assisted living facility is housed in a converted mansion on beautiful grounds. It is a smaller facility, so it feels more like a home. The bedrooms and living areas are well appointed. This is an independent and family run business and you can see this in the level of care they offer. Mom is very happy and content here.

The Sunrise of East Meadow became an extended family to us. The care provided to my father was excellent and they also notified me of any changes in his condition, or medication needed. The staff was compassionate and they all seemed happy to help. This was an experience unlike my father's prior assisted living facility, which looked more upscale and provided better entertainment, but the care was really lacking. At Sunrise, everyone was kind and responsive, from the aides to the nursing staff to the Directors. I am so very grateful to them.
