I just had my first experience at Atrium Medical. I needed to get a chest cat scan done. There was very little waiting and the technicians could not have been nicer nor more professional. I was supposed to have an MRI at 6pm. luckily I had an MRI at Atrium before and knew where to go. i arrived at 5:40,saw a kiosk that said "patient registration ". no one was working at any reception desk. I signed in at Kiosk. called 6404 at reception desk to see if any more info was needed, no one answered after it rang 10 times so I sat and waited. apparently the kiosk doesn't work, no one knew I was there until an MRI tech happened to walk out the door and see me sitting there at 6:20pm. pathetic service for the prices we're paying for healthcare. read more

Came in for unexpected diabetic emergency. Was dropping hubby off at airport and next thing I knew I was surrounded by medical people. I was so out of it I couldn't communicate and know if an of this was really. My glucose meter evidently is way off saying my blood sugar was 356 which is double the norm. But was 38 when admitted to ER which is dangerous level. I literally could have easily died. I didn't know where I was or what was going on. But they quickly helped save my life. No complaints at all. I've worked at hospitals all my adult life and it was very scary being on the other side. read more

My friend is being taken care of. Everyone that I have encountered so far are doing awesome. My friend is going to be having a critical surgery on Monday. Your nursing staff for ER at nite SUCK. They are lazy don't come when you use call button very rude and don't know their ass from hole in ground. When doing EKG one puts on wire the other changes wires . Doing IV when you try and patient tell you they had surgery that same day and throat was sore and did not have fluid since the night before so I V does not go in well and patient suggest maybe need bag of fluid and they ignore and have to stick again after first IV was remove also knowing Dr request Cat scan with contract so patient was stuck at least 5 times and should only been one. The nurses are overworked and understaffed and unfortunately fall into the mind games of feeding off each other when they have a bad day. I unfortunately in the last 2 years have spent way to much time in this hospital with 3 heart attacks, 4 stints and constant pneumonia that was misdiagnosed until it was sent to UC at the request of my insurance company and I was correctly diagnosed with a lung disease. My insurance company is large and does not want me to have any further care at this hospital if that tells you anything about the level of care they give. read more

These nurse out here are rude, nasty, hateful individuals that should not be taking care of our parents. I wouldn't trust them with a stray cat. Even the "charge nurse" is rude and hateful. Don't complain about how they're treating your father, she'll (charge nurse) come in already siding with who you made the complaint on, and the care your loved one needs will continue to decline. I'm literally in a room now watching them ignore my father. The lack of compassion, the lack of care is disgusting! Even housekeeping can't do their job correct we've had full dirty trashcans for two days, cleaning has been done by me. This place is a joke and not a funny one. This place is trash. Such a shame really the doctors have been great, but these nurses, man these nurses all need to be replaced. If you want your loved one cared for properly, you'd be better off choosing a veterinary clinic to take them to. read more

My dad in Atrium. Phone operators are great. But nurses station hard to get ahold of and patients phone is never close by. Very aggravating. Nurses when I have gotten to speak to them are always polite and helpful. read more

A family member had surgery for Diverticulitis. Doctor Kim was super knowledgeable and helpful when discussing treatment/options for us. Nurses checked-in routinely and were always super kind when they did. Each was super personable and made us comfortable. I also enjoyed the café which had plenty of options. read more

If I could rate 0 out of 5 I would. Let me start off with saying, ABSOLUTE terrible service every time my wife or myself has came here. They don't care about helping patients or how long patients have to wait. Example 1.) last year I injured my back at work (already prior back issues due to military) they said they'll do a CT scan, they only gave me medicine and hoped I got well. Example 2.) Took my wife there for her stomach pain, old doctor walked in pressed on her stomach and pressed on her forehead and was like "can you look me in the eyes and smile for me". Example 3/ Today July 16th 2022.) took my wife to the hospital cause of the pain she was in due to her ear and mouth, back track to last Wednesday for the same thing we only got medicine and that was it. Back to today the pain was more sever, her in tears, after nurse got the vitals she said we'll have a room for you in about 10 minutes, we waited 45 minutes before we got a room, they let 3 people have a room before her and they looked fine, they were laughing and smiling in the lobby meanwhile tears were going down my wife's face as she gripped my knee cause she was in pain. After we got a room we waited 2 and a half hours before my wife got any medicine, she had to wait in sever pain, barely able to talk or open her mouth cause it hurt so bad. We will never go to Atriom ever again, they simply do not care about their patients. It's not just us that feels this way either, we overheard a man get escorted out cause he was pissed his mother has been on the first floor since 3 am and no one has check on her and she was having heart issues. read more

I had my son 8/18 by planned cesarian but went early due to high blood pressure. Hilltop Doctors/staff along with Atrium Labor and Delivery team did absolutely amazing caring for me, my baby, and our family. I couldn't have asked for better care. I was very nervous about my surgery but was comforted with confidence. The anesthesiologists were so reassuring and really helped me not to panic. Dr Boyce delivered my daughter by emergency cesarian in 2015 and I healed quickly with no complications. She is very knowledgeable and professional. Dr Andrew performed my cesarian with my son this year, 2023 and he did a great job. Very professional and his confidence was so reassuring. Healing well with no complications. I am so happy I returned to Hilltop & Atrium for my son's delivery. +10/10 we had a wonderful experience. I highly recommend their team. Thank you!!!!! read more

Lack of attention and staff. Extremely slow response to attend to needs for assistance. Specified vegetarian meals and every meal delivered included meat. Phones not answered on the weekends to speak with nurse. Cafe is only self service with very few choices. read more

I would give 0 stars. I went in to have a wound cleaned and an antibiotic. They cleaned the spot with something I am allergic to. Their response "sorry hun. I didn't know". They also gave me the incorrect antibiotic script. read more

My mother passed away here. I live out of state and requested family meetings, updates on her status, and a call back from social services. I told several Dr's, nurses, and her case manager that the family wanted to make her a DNR. No calls back from anyone except one kind hospitalist. My mom coded that night, they brought her back 3 times, wouldn't stop the code when I requested. They called my younger brother who stopped the code (he was the only one in her electronic chart). When Dr. Miller called me back to tell me Mom had passed she lectured "Let this be a lesson get your healthcare power of attorney" Mom's chart, who to call, was a mess and no one wanted to help us straighten it out. This hospital took away a peaceful passing in her sleep and left her with broken ribs and someone pounding on her totally ignoring her families wishes. Social services and the other paper pushers dropped the ball and my mom paid the price. My vet is more understanding and compassionate than Dr. Miller. read more

Best hospital I've ever been in. Quick to answer call lights. Good is fair. Facilities are super nice and all the staff were great.

My husband called 911 because I had accidently gulped down some hydrogen peroxide thinking it was water. When the paramedics came they suggested going to hospital. Honestly we should have just called poison control because it would have been much cheaper and quicker than waiting at the hospital. At the hospital we waited in a room for a couple hours, while some nurses came in and asked my symptoms. I was thirsty, so I kept asking for water, but the nurses said no, wait, we don't know if it will make it worse. (Later I read that if you drink hydrogen peroxide, drinking water can induce vomiting and minimize the harm from it.) Later the doctor came in, talked with us for a bit, went out, called poison control, came back. (At this point I had already vomited a couple times.) He said there was nothing they could do except get a cat scan to see the damage. We refused it and left. All that would be fine except a few weeks later we got a bill for over 5k. When I called to ask why, they said that it had been coded as a life or death level 5 (which is their top level) emergency which is not at all what they had treated it like. In fact I had gotten the distinct impression that they didn't think my poisoning was that serious. (We waited so long that I even told my husband that if it was that serious and if there was anything they could do the damage had already been done.) Also they had marked one of my symptoms as chest pains which were a very serious symptom and are apparently always coded at level 5. (What I had was mild burning in my esophagus from drinking the peroxide.) I asked if I could get the coding level changed and they directed me to the patient advocate. The patient advocate was not optimistic and told me that things are coded automatically, but he did send an email about it and it was reduced to a level 4, saving us about 3-4 thousand dollars. I'm not sure it even should have been coded a level 4 because they literally did nothing. But we were thankful the bill was reduced. read more

My mom had been at Atrium for 7 nights with heart issues and breathing problems. While the doctors and nursing care was very good, it was the many minor details that made this a very unpleasant experience. to be placed on hold for 12 minutes to order food is in itself absurd, but then to wait over 2 HOURS for food to,be delivered is really unacceptable. And the food is either cold ( like straight from the fridge) or tasteless. The menu is also very limited. My mom only had her sheets changed once. She only was given a fresh gown because hers had blood on it from a poorly placed IV. She was NEVER bathed, I had to ask for bathing supplies. The public bathrooms were unfresh and out of toilet paper. A trash can in a stall was overflowing with maxi pads. Disgusting. When you walk in the lobby in the evenings or weekends it is EMPTY. One elderly volunteer. No security presence. My dad saw a guy bring a pit bull right in the doors and up the elevator! Are you kidding me??!!!??? The halls are empty, very few nurses around. I have seen nurses sitting around on their phones, without masks. One last thing...my mom was transferred to a hospital in Cincinnati. Transfer was arranged at 3pm, to take place at 7 pm. They did not show up until 11 pm. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????? So needless to say, my family and I were less than impressed with Atrium. read more

Everything from treatment to registration (who broke law by giving me another patient insurance information on a post it note) now billing. They don't care about anything but getting the bill paid!! My first time visiting Atrium, and I was impressed- everyone I encountered was pleasant & friendly. The Covid precautions are definitely being followed- plenty of sanitizer, signs, plexiglass barriers, etc. There were clear signs everywhere and the door screener (Covid) gave me easy directions to where I needed to go. Everything was very clean and fresh, with tasteful holiday decor included. read more

HILLTOP IS TERRIBLE here at this hospital. I am new to Ohio, and just found out I was pregnant. I decided to try here, because the information online looked great. I went here for 4 appointments already, and FINALLY they decided to tell me that my insurance does not cover anything that they have provided thus far, after already paying almost $200 in copays (where did that go?) I received a bill for around $640, then just today, I received another bill for $2,400. Do not go here, or you'll end up spending extra money. UPDATE: I had to go to the ER because my heart rate and blood pressure dropped so low and I fainted. Doctor recommended I call hilltop and get a note to work 4 days a week instead of 5. The nurse was so incredibly rude on the phone. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

My experience at this hospital was great! I want to give a shout out to the 4th floor. I stayed for 5 days. Rikki checked on me often and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. Beverly was a breath of fresh air! Alisha, John, Anthony,and Stacy worked hard to keep me comfortable! There was one other that I can't remember her name. The doctor.. who I also can't remember his name.. sorry.. he listened to me and responded quickly to the nurses requests! I love Hilltop, especially Dr. Haageman and Dr. Reina. I have gone here for 10 years, and delivered one baby (high risk pregnancy with lots of complications-hospitalized four times) and have no complaints. Dr. H is totally down to earth. He's fun and wacky and totally puts you at ease. read more

Emergency room is useless. Avoid at ALL cost. You have a better chance of living if you go to an animal hospital and you can also expect better care. Has to be the stupidest and least trained Doctors on the planet. I believe his name was (Dr Lyman) The nurse staff aren't far behind, other than they are great at covering for the worthless Doctors. My mom had a BP above 240 and had all signs of a mini stroke prior to being transported to the hospital yet the Dr & nurse refused to do a head scan to verify if she had a stroke. The nurse (who by the way said she's extremely qualified in strokes because her mom had one) refuse to let us Talk to the Dr by phone and said the Dr was "waiting on her BP to come down, before during a head scan for a stroke) Idiots Idiots Idiots. Don't go here! You may be impressed by the looks of the beautiful facility but don't be fooled into thinking this is quality care. I won't go into many personal details but going to this place WILL drastically increase your risk of death or the death of a new baby if you are going especially to Natural Beginnings. Don't do it, especially Expecting Mothers!!! It is not what they are marketing to you, not AT ALL. It's a nice facade but the staff is incompetent & you will pay the price. This is a gorgeous facility with attractive, clean private rooms. Too bad they didn't put more funds towards hiring competent doctors. The use of "hospitalists" (aka- med. School drop-outs") has been the downfall of inpatient care! Unfortunately this practice is not exclusive to Atrium. Without exception, these "doctors" are always rushing as they're spread thin between multiple hospitals. So they don't care about your particular case or condition. They ask questions but then talk over you before you can answer. They have the bedside manner of a billy goat! There were a few very good nurses but they were the exception. I am a spinal cord injury patient. I was left to lay in a wet bed for hours. One Dr didn't have a clue what the next so called specialist was doing. It was a nightmare! I was released suddenly one day by a Dr who hadn't ever stepped foot in my room prior to writing the discharge papers! It was an upsetting frightening experience. What a colossal waste of money For the county!! If you are sick or injured, go to Westchester if it's something minor or UC for anything serious I gave 2 stars ONLY for the nice private rooms and friendly support staff such as lab techs, radiologists, etc read more

I was an inpatient here for three days. I know no one really likes going to to a hospital but this one was one of the better ones I have had to stay at. The thing i liked the most was that all the rooms are private. No one else in the room with you to bother you. They also had some of the better food than any other hospital. Other hospitals bring you what ever the cooks made and you have no choice on what it is or what time you eat. Here i got a menu to choice from and all i had to do was call down and order when i was hungry. The food wasn't anything to write home about but it wasn't bad. The nurse staff was friendly and knew what they were doing. It did take them a few mins sometimes to come if i pressed the call button but that is to be expected. If i had to go back into the hospital and this one was close i would go to this one but lets hope that I don't have to. read more

I have been involve with the Atrium for over a year now. The inpatient rehab center is number one. The caregivers are excellent. They really take the time to get to know you. You are not a person in a certain bed for them . They know who you are and why you are in their care. They treat you like anyone wants to be treated. I think it comes down to realizing that you are someone's father or mother or grand father etc and they can relate. Good place and good people. read more

I had a total knee replacement at this hospital and was an inpatient for three days. I am going to a different hospital for my next knee replacement. Pros: Beautiful facility -- looks more like a hotel than a hospital. All rooms are private. Nice T.V. Excellent and responsive physical therapy department. Cons: I had a different nurse and aide for each shift. They either must have problems hiring enough people or they pay too little (more about that later). The food is absolutely horrendous -- inedible, old-time hospital food. The nursing staff does not respond quickly to calls -- I once had to wait almost an hour for anyone to see if I was ok. Summing up: I know a hospital is not an enjoyable place, but I felt uncomfortable staying there and would not recommend anyone (who has a choice) to go here. Also, according to my insurance company, Atrium Medical Center is the most expensive place in the area for total knee replacement. Wish I knew this before!! Note: My husband found a letter to employees lying on the floor in the restroom. Summary: more cuts were coming, times were bad. Not good!! read more

I went to the ER yes little later than sooner at night and yes not for the most traumatic injury. (But I wanted to make sure for my piece of mind) but like the checkin receptionist was nice and seemed more caring about his job. Soon as I got in the room and had the first nurse come in I felt like a burden. Like I was being judged by all the different people that came into my room. And me being alone didn't help, only made me feel more nervous and anxious never being in the hospital alone before. Not saying none of them necessarily didn't care about my situation, but just didn't feel very welcomed or like they really WANTED to help me out. Didn't seem like they wanted to be there. Which I can also understand, through all this Covid-19 situation and it being a little later at night. But still, just maybe one smile? Or Hi! How are you? I don't know, I just felt very out of place and uncomfortable during my visit, just wanted to leave sooner than later. Just maybe a note for any nurses or doctors reading this.... just a smile is all it takes really. Because honestly really nobody wants to be at the hospital anymore than you probably do. read more

I had a knee replacement surgery at Atrium, and I have no issues with the care or the nursing staff or my doctor, but I was charged $500 per session for physical therapy, essentially $10 per minute, and for that exorbitant price I got to pedal a broken stationary bike, walk with a rubber band around my ankles, and stretch on some monkey bars. I also got about 5 minutes of kneecap massage. I've made payments but they're in a hurry for their money so they're sending me to collections. This was price gouging, plain and simple, and I had to quit physical therapy because they weren't being fair about their billing practices! I guess it costs a lot of money to keep the place looking so fancy. Stay away!!! read more
