Nice people but also, they are on island time. They also do not take things seriously like prescriptions. They make many errors here. Just be wary. And their "business manager" responses to Yelp reviews are no better than a bot, trust me. They tell you to reach out and when you do they won't reply so, don't waste your energy. If you try to call any of the Patient Relations numbers on their websites, they DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. They force you to leave a voicemail so they can screen whether or not you're worth a call back. IF YOU LIST A PHONE NUMBER, DON'T MAKE IT A MAILBOX ONLY. My family (3 generations) has been going to Atrius Health Chestnut Hill since we moved to West Roxbury 2-1/2 years ago and we've been pleased with the providers, the care and the services, including Internal Medicine, Neurology, Cardiology, Opthalmology, Radiology, Lab, and Pharmacy. The internal medicine department here, and the G.I. are complete jokes matter fact today in my primary care physician told me that I should find one closer to where I live I've been experiencing blackouts where I just fall back and i cant see anyone till may then i had appointment, made for January that I had made in October then they called me a few days before the day to tell me that they could no longer see me then and the next date was April. Customer service is unacceptable. They do nothing for their patients. Yet again another terrible experience with Atrius Health specifically the OB/GYN department. Not only this location but Wellesley as well. I think Atrius Health across the board lacks so much in communication and putting the patient's needs first. Their response time when it comes to anything, is horrible, god forbid it be an urgent matter. I submitted paperwork on the 12th of July to be filled out to extend my maternity leave. I had not heard from the office for over a week so I followed up, since my job relied on this paperwork being submitted by my doctor. They finally got back to me on the 22nd...ten days later. I waited another few days for a response just to be denied of extra maternity leave time, even though I had a medical diagnosis that prevents me from going back to my job. My midwife, Molly Doyle, couldn't even call me herself to explain why she denied extending my leave. Instead the secretary gave me the sad excuse that they are only there "part time" so that's why my paperwork / denial took SO long. Healthcare isn't "part time" I will be taking myself and my family's care to an office that puts the patient's health and needs first. Dr. Sharon Ng who is part of the Optometry at the Chestnut Hill location. She wrote an inaccurate prescription for my 83 old mother. We didn't realize it until we showed it to the For Eyes representative. Not only did she wrote an inaccurate prescription, it took us 6 phone calls to her office to get this correct. The staff working in the office couldn't even get the corrected prescription faxed to For Eyes without a conference call between us. This is an absolutely horrible office and I would never go back to Dr. Sharon Ng. read more

This is the first time ever that I've written a review. I had open heart surgery back in 2006 and am on a anticoagulant medication, so I have to have my INR checked every month. I've gone to Harvard Kenmore and Harvard Chestnut Hill to have it checked by a venous blood draw ever since. I'm usually there around 5:30-5:40 because I get out of work at 5:00. I've NEVER had any problems until the last time I was there. I went in and the technician had prepped for a finger stick. When I told her it was a venous draw she said the orders were for a finger stick. I said "I've been doing this for the last 17 yrs and I've NEVER had a finger stick." Then she said "We don't do venous draws for INR after 5:00p.m." This was news to me because as I said I've been going there for many years always around that same time. She insisted it was too late to get it done so I ended up getting up and walking out. As I was driving away, I get a call from her to come back, that she WOULD draw my blood! Ok I go back and she says "only this time" Huh? Right now, I'm more than two weeks overdue for my blood check and haven't been able to do it because I can't be there before 5:00. If this is a rule why wasn't I informed in the 17 years that I've been going there? I sent my doctor a message about this and also spoke to the coagulation team nurse... didn't hear back from my doctor and the nurse said she would talk to lab manager about it, but I've yet to get a call or letter apologizing for the lab technician Tiffany Wells's rude behavior. Last in customer service. A couple months ago I needed an urgent appointment - I was told my doctor was not available for several weeks, and had to see someone else. A couple weeks ago I was kept waiting for an hour to see a doctor for a routine checkup. They had a little board outside the office that told me the doctor was on time. What a joke. While it's a hassle to switch doctors, and I rarely utilize the healthcare system, when I do, I'd like to actually be able to access it. read more

I have been a patient here since 1988, and have always been happy with my service. It's usually very convenient that they have so many departments within the same building, so if you need Xrays or blood tests or the pharmacy, it's right there. Some specialties are there too, but sometimes you must be referred to one of their bigger centers, like the one in Kenmore, which is a drag to drive to. All in all though, I've stayed with them through many different insurance changes and moves because I adore my PCP, Dr. Thomas Faldetta, who is a very caring doctor, and has saved my life many times over through the things he has found proactively. read more

I went to HVMA from birth (when it was HCHP) until now and I'm extremely unhappy with the practice. The turnover with PCPs is unacceptable. One of the PCPs recently abruptly resigned leaving her patients (including me) without a PCP. Also, I strongly suggest people to stay away from the behavioral health department; they're so caught up with their policies and procedures that they neglect to provide quality care. Now I transferred to Dr. Laurel Yates at the Brigham Physician Group in Chestnut Hill and much happier there. read more

Harvard Van Guard is to medicine what MacDonald's is to food: HIGH volume and POOR quality! Ive seen Dr Fontaine several times. She behaves as she is UN interested in your current reason for your visit, instead paying attention to the computer screen asking about visits from another DR years earlier. She stated she had another patient to attend to and rushed out door to attend to them after patient walked into our visit, without finishing up with me. VERY odd. Would never return to this location again. read more

Dr. Karos is a pediatrician who doesn't care about her patients. She was my child's pediatrician since he was 6 months old until 2 years old. I emailed her about a question/concern I had and it took her over two weeks to get back to me. My child was diagnosed for something by someone else that could've been prevented. I never knew about it and she never said a word about it. Other than her not caring, during our visits with her, she would contradict what the summary they give after each visit said. For example, she said to start teaching alphabet, colors, numbers, and some shapes at 2 years old. My child knew a lot of these way before he was 2 years old. Imagine if I would've listened to her. Most things she said were incorrect. I should've gone with what the summaries said. Also, when I would get back test results, I had to email her asking what it meant. I am not a doctor so that should've been common sense. When I called and had questions, a nurse would call back with the exception of one time. I emailed her questions I had and she called me to talk to me and then billed my insurance. read more

This place is a terrible choice for a primacy care doctor. I had switched about 3 times in my several years of going here and my final was my last. They don't diagnose you correctly and I ended up switching out to a new practice who actually looked into my concerns instead of just telling me my symptoms were nothing and I have a life-term diagnosis that I was battling for the longest time and all the doctors ignored. The only reason I didn't give one star is because the Gyno department is the only good part as far as staff and service goes. I'd recommend Brigham and Women's in Newton corner for anyone looking for good primary care. Their doctors that are in their residencies for medical school are extremely interested in your concerns and WILL get the right diagnosis because that's what they're there for. (I was hesitant at first but it was the best decision I could ever make for my health). read more

I have had very good care here. I like all the specialists in one system. I have been a patient for about 35 years. My primary care doctor recently left the practice. I was assigned to a male doctor with no questions about my preferences. When I called to say that was not OK with me, I was told I could wait 7 to 9 months and there would probably be a female doctor available at that point. I don't know that I can stay with this practice. Update: I found a female doctor I am very happy with at a different branch. read more

Good location, convenient. But doctors that are so busy they don't have time to care. I saw Dr. Genero probably four times about ankle problems, and eventually got fitted with a boot for six weeks. During that time I went in for a shoulder injury and he said, "What happened to your foot?" He literally had no idea I was the same patient he'd seen four times. So ridiculous. He also gave absolutely no help/knowledge/guidance to either my ankle injury or my shoulder injury. Dr. Johnson, the podiatrist, is great. She listens and is very knowledgeable. The pain clinic (in Kenmore square) is so hard to get an appt. for, which seems kind of sick, since the people that need to be going there are in pain! Dr. Menkina is a fairly good PCP, she does like to prescribe a lot of seemingly unneeded medications. The lab seems to have lost my labwork, but I still managed to get a bill for it in the mail. So go here if you like being able to utilize online resources for your health, and if you like most things to be in the same building, but if you truly care about your health - stay away! read more

I have been going to the West Roxbury practice since before my kids were born and they are now 23 and 19. I cannot speak highly enough about the practice. The pediatrician Dr. Lasche is great. I love my internal medical physical Dr. Braun. And special kudos to the dermatology team of Glen Blair, PA and Dr. Levin who have helped me with many skin issues over the years. Everything you need is at the practice - lab, radiology, vision care etc so you always know you'll get complete care. read more

I recently moved to NY and I honestly want to move back to Boston because I loved Harvard Vanguard so much. My doctors were all amazing (PCP-Minkina, OB/Gyn-Rothchild, GI-Kauffman, Cardio-Katz), the nurses are SO kind and helpful- they have actually spent hours fighting with my new stupid NY insurance company to make sure that I got my medications (Thanks Ann!)! Everything is in 1 building- so convenient! Tons of free parking! I never waited more than 10 minutes to be seen. They were always able to accomidate me when I needed to be seen immediately. They are so thorough and responsive and Ana in the lab is great- the only person who can get my blood! I miss Ana! All around the best! Harvard Vanguard I miss you! read more

The pharmacy is absolutely terrible. They only gave me one of my two prescriptions without saying anything. When I got home and noticed, they told me they were all out of the other one. THANKS FOR LETTING MY KNOW. They suggested I (not them) call around to other pharmacies to find the medication and then they could send the prescription to them. After finding another pharmacy that had it, I called and they said they would send the prescription to them. Of course they never did, and then closed at 6, leaving me without my medication until the next day. read more

This practice simply has too many patients and not enough providers. I am helping out by leaving the practice. The pharmacy operates at the speed of molasses. I was regularly taken 30-60 minutes late for appointments, and could rarely get a routine checkup scheduled within 3 months. The staff turnover rate is not insignificant. After my latest PCP left, I called to schedule an annual physical with a new physician and was told there were no openings for least six months, and was then offered an appointment with a nurse practitioner who is not available past 2 pm. My 9 and 10 year olds have been patients of Dr. Brown's since they were 2 years old. Both kids simply adore Dr. Brown, as do I. She is attentive and accessible, while also being extremely knowledgeable and informative. Both of my kids have some complex special needs, and the team at HV has always been both understanding and flexible when it comes to our unique circumstances. My only complaint is that it can be a challenge to actually see your kids' PCP if they are sick, as the practice is extremely busy and overbooked. read more
