Lots of shade, but we stayed on the water quite a while and ended up out in the heat and sun of midday. We did not all prepare for this and are paying for that. Overall, it was a lovely float with some areas with added challenge (rocks, submerged trees, shallows) to navigate. There are quite a few rocky shore areas where you can pull up the kayaks for a break or snack. Speaking of, we brought water, but failed to bring any food. It would have been nice to have something even though we planned to eat after. The exit from the river is a bit rough, but the young men helping were wonderful. We got 3 single kayaks, and 3 upgraded single kayaks. We definitely felt the upgrade was worth it for stability, more room for heavy people, adjustable footrests, and adjustable back rest. We had a great time and definitely intend to go back again.

We were running about 10 minutes behind, so we called ahead, let them know, and even paid before arriving. After getting there, we waited nearly 30 minutes for transportation to the drop-off point. The woman at the office was nice and apologized, so we brushed it off. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. When we arrived at the river, everything fell apart. An older gentleman and two teenagers were unloading kayaks, but nobody gave any instructions or directed customers. We stood waiting for another 15+ minutes while they unloaded equipment and chatted. When we finally asked what was going on, they realized they didn't even have enough kayaks or paddles for our group. We were told more kayaks were "already on the way." Meanwhile, we watched other customers launch themselves because nobody was helping them get into the water. There was another group with a 12:30 reservation sitting there with kayaks available, but instead of getting us on the river, we continued waiting. At around 1:35 PM, I called the office and was told it would be another 30-45 minutes. By then we were beyond frustrated. A manager eventually got involved, but instead of apologizing, she seemed irritated that we were upset. After more waiting and more promises that kayaks were "almost there," transportation finally returned around 2:15 PM with additional kayaks. Remember, our reservation was for noon. We had already spent over two hours waiting. The best part of the day was actually being on the river. The river itself was enjoyable, and once we finally got in the water, we had a good time. Then came the ending. When we reached the take-out point, three teenagers were checking people in. One of them stopped another group and immediately started asking for names so he could charge them a $75 late fee. Their reservation had also been at noon, and they were delayed because of issues caused by the company, not because they were late. The teenager literally told them that wasn't his problem. Then they started trying to charge our group the same $75 late fee. Absolutely not. After multiple customers complained and the manager was called, they finally admitted we didn't owe anything. The entire situation could have been avoided with basic organization, communication, and customer service. We had 4 adults, 2 older kids, and 2 younger kids and spent nearly $400. For that kind of money, customers shouldn't spend over two hours waiting because a company failed to have enough kayaks available for scheduled reservations. The river was nice. The staff experience was terrible. I've floated many rivers over the years and can honestly say this was the worst-run kayak rental operation I've ever dealt with.

The shop is literally right behind Appleton's Harley Davidson, so you literally have to pull into their parking lot and venture to the back of the building. I will admit, not a good business model to attract new customers, because it is not line of sight of the main road. People like places they can readily access. Figured, what the heck, I'm here already. Walking into the shop, I was pleasantly surprised, there was engraving with a vast array of different things to engrave like name blocks and photo frames. There was a VERY large display of trophies and plaques that lined the walls and shelves. The bell rang and immediately from a side room popped a man, who promptly greeted me. He made me feel at ease as I pushed the broken karate guy and the trophy over to him. He said give me a second and came immediately back with a larger karate guy, same stance. The relief! He took the trophy to the back and literally within 4 minutes was back with the new karate guy on top. Only charged me the cost of the karate guy which was all of about $6 and I was there for around 10 minutes total. About a year ago, I had a watch battery in a Luminox dive watch replaced. I pulled out the crown to adjust the date and noticed that the entire face moved as I adjusted it. I know that I should have noticed this when I picked up my watch, but I didn't check closely enough. I'll go back to the store tomorrow to check and see if they will do anything about it, but honestly, I don't expect much from the store. The reason why I'm posting this is to warn others that may decide to use this place to beware. Oh, and by the way, they also sell watches at ridiculously inflated prices. (I am 63 now) I recovered this clock after my mom passed away and was very happy to see it. All these years I was afraid that the clock was given away or lost but it was in an old box in her garage and I was able to have it. I have tried to find someone to repair this clock for several years and realized that "A place in Time" repairs clocks I have known the owners for over 10 years now and have found that they are the greatest folks to deal with and trust them fully. They now have the clock, and I will write an update after the job is complete.
