First time here! Great experience! My son and I stopped in before I took him back to Towson. He had the grilled cheese & bacon sandwich which came with sliced apples. He said it was very good! I stopped at the drive-thru after a medical procedure, and ordered half a sandwich on gluten free bread. Within 25 minutes I was really sick (I will spare you the details) , So I called and asked to speak to the manager . I was calm and polite (I am a retired pastor); I was given the shift supervisor. I calmly explained what had happened and asked if perhaps the sandwich was made mistakenly with the same utensils or on the same surface as those made with regular bread. I told her that gluten contamination is 20 parts per million. She then "managersplained" to me that it was my fault for not explaining to the disembodied voice that I was allergic to gluten. "Next time, you should tell us: we're not mind readers." No apology, just snarkiness. Next time? I wanted to ask who would pay extra for nasty gluten free bread if they didn't have to eat nasty, overpriced gluten free bread? But I didn't. I'm just not going to eat there again. First off, we do love this location. The manager and staff are very nice. The prices are a little steep. My wife and I each had a sandwich, 1 cup of soup we shared, a latte and she had an ice tea with an 18% tip equaled a little over $60. And that was lunch. We love the ambiance and watching the people outside. The vanilla latte was perfect. The grilled chicken avocado sandwich my wife had was so chewy. Unfortunately we ordered this same sandwich to go for her mom and we she opened it up the sandwich was burnt on both ends. Look at the picture. So crazy they would allow this to go out. I did call and spoke with Bronson who was so accommodating. He did say he would refund the sandwich. Sadly though my mother-in-law was left with a burnt sandwich. Yes, we were offered to come back to redo the sandwich but it's 20 minutes away and it was just after the snow storm so needless to say we respectfully declined. We'll still come back to this place because of the people working there more than anything else. Stopped here yesterday after a near by doctor's appointment. Parking was pretty easy. I wasn't expecting it to be so small and tight. The service was welcoming and friendly. I have been going to Atwaters for years. I usually feel like I'm getting healthy, high quality, well made food. Lately all the soups have little flavor. A sweet potato bisque was thin and had no sweet potato flavor. My sandwich had no flavor either. Vegetarian does not mean tasteless. Worst excuse for sauerkraut I ever saw. To start off, every time I've been to Atwater's (this specific location), it's always been super packed with people. They must be doing something right! I personally couldn't sense a vibe that would make me sit down to eat here-- hence one star off. But I must say, they have the best coffee in the area. I usually order an iced mocha latte or last time, I got a seasonal drink (pumpkin spice latte & they have real pumpkin bits in it!). The coffee is never watered down nor too strong that I can't finish it. It has the perfect amount of sweetest and honestly feels refreshing. I was in the mood for a light lunch and after some deliberation, I decided on Atwater's. They have soups, salads, sandwiches, pastries and a few other small breakfast items. They had a drive through which was very convenient especially because the parking lot it is located in is very chaotic and it can be quite difficult to find a spot. I was also in a bit of a rush so this was perfect. I ended up ordering the chicken bacon and avocado sandwich and adding on their feta spread. The chicken breast was a little dry, I don't think I would have enjoyed it on it's own. However, the components of the sandwich worked really well together. The addition of the feta really elevated the sandwich, it was creamy, salty and really made up for the dryness of the chicken. The avocado and arugula tasted really fresh and the sandwich comes on a brioche roll which was perfectly soft. It's important to note that all of their breads are made in house which definitely added to the freshness of the sandwich. My only criticisms would be that the drive through was slightly slow, the chicken breast was over cooked, and it was a little pricey for what you receive. However, overall, this was the perfect place for a quick lunch made with fresh ingredients. I would give it a 3.5 if I could. read more

This was our first visit here, and we decided to stop in for lunch. Parking was brutal on Saturday, but we managed to squeeze into a spot nearby. This place is very small on the inside and has limited seating. The menus are available at the counter as well as near the front entrance. After glancing at the menu, I ordered a bowl of gumbo and a bacon and grilled cheese sandwich, which came with a side of sliced apples. Hubby ordered the country breakfast meal. Along with our meal, I ordered an iced tea that was sweetened with some sweetner, and hubby had coffee. We were able to find seating and enjoy our beverages while waiting for our meals. Came here recently for lunch with coworkers. Their menu changes regularly which is interesting. I got a Fields Green Salad with goat cheese and apples. Sounded super good. What was confusing was that my salad came with blueberries. According to the menu that day, there was not one single item that contained blueberries so I'm not sure why they had blueberries in stock or why my salad came with blueberries instead of apples. No one told me of the substitution and I didn't complain. It was just very odd. The manager and staff here are exceptionally congenial and helpful. They do better than the other sites in terms of politeness and care. Absolutely unimpeachable in terms of the quality of customer service! But, in terms of the fare - well, I don't know if I visited on an off day or what, but I was dissatisfied with my order. I frequent the Catonsville & Belvedere Sq. Atwater's locales about 4 times a week. I know what to expect in terms of the taste of the latte & other coffee drinks, the sandwiches, and the soups (I never really care for any of the Atwater soups, however). This Towson Atwater's served me a cheddar bacon flaxseed sandwich that was soggy. The oil soaked the wrapping paper (as shown in pic). I ordered the lavender vanilla latte, but the drink I received had a weird hazelnut chemical distaste to it. I took a sip and couldn't go on. I asked that it be swapped out for a mocha latte. (To this store's credit, the on-duty manager quickly and kindly obliged without any hesitation.) Unfortunately, the mocha latte tasted like chocolate milk. I could hardly detect any trace of espresso in it, seemed weak and watered down. The mocha flavoring was stuck in the bottom of the plastic cup. Even after I gave it a few long stirs, there was no real change. Like I said, I know Atwater's bc I've been a regular and weekly patron for 8 years now. The Towson locale must do much better bc it's food and drinks do not do the name "Atwater's" any (culinary) justice. But, to be fate, I've only visited once. Okay so I have been back a few times and I just can't get enough! I have explored the menu some more and I can confidently say that although their soups seem healthy, they are not my favorite. Today I tried the zucchini, fennel, and cannellini bean soup and it has been my favorite so far, but I have had better soups before. I am comfortable saying that salads are way better here than their soups. Their green goddess salad is absolutely delicious (I prefer it without the dukkah, or get it on the side; I find the nuts and seeds very hard to bite). I get the famous chicken salad scoop and there you go, an amazing lunch! Today I also tried more pastries: the mixed fruit scone, and the lemon bites which are mouthwatering. They are not shy with the lemon when making that icing, and these lemon bites are just heavenly. I find the staff here very nice; I ordered on door dash today, so I didn't get much exposure, but last time I went with my twin boys (I'm a giant stroller), someone from the staff helped me move the furniture to be able to fit. The place is small and the ambiance is vibrant; most people go here for lunch and the place always has this positive energy to it. I can't wait to eat a lot more chicken salad! read more

I love Atwater's! It's probably my favorite brunch spot in the Baltimore area because of their avocado toast and lattes. The Kenilworth location is in the same parking lot as Trader Joe's and can get nutty really quickly (what is it about TJ's parking lots?!) but Atwater's also has a drive through which helps if you're getting something quick. The indoor seating area is small and the building is shaped kind of like an octagon, so it's a bit of a funky space. But it's easy to order things to go and enjoy the tasty treats! read more
