The Lunch Box is a very small old-timey style diner. That could use a deep cleaning.and smells like roach spray. The lady at the counter appears anxious but nice. The cook (owner maybe) didn't smile much but seemed nice to the customer. The bacon, eggs and home fries breakfast platter was good.

True community diner on the Main Street. Conversation is good and comfortable They were out of chipped beef and Turkey bacon. So know your second choice. Table wasn't cleaned. And place was crowded. Masks were optional. Corned beef hash was good. Not crispy, bit tasty hash browns had excellent onions and a crisp outer section perfectly done. Comfortable place to get breakfast or lunch. Not a destination.

I really like The Lunch Box in Hampden because it offers diner fare in a downhome dive atmosphere. And, they have a collection of vintage lunchboxes that is definitely worth checking out. I needed breakfast! I got the 2 eggs (over easy) with bacon, hash browns, toast, and coffee for about $10. This was not at all greasy and was really well cooked. I ate every single piece of food that was on my plate. Service is friendly and if you are lucky, you might get to see some regulars. Thank you, Lunch Box, on the Avenue in Hampden!

The Lunch Box was that local spot in Hampden that I always saw but never cared to go until recently. We wanted to eat at a different place but faced with long wait times we ended up here. The Lunch Box is your classic no-frills American dinner. And when I saw no-frills I really do mean none, menu is super basic but cheap which a plus I guess. Ordered the chocolate chip hot cakes with sausage and scrambled eggs. Service was a little slow and there was quite a bit of waiting to order and then again for our waters and a wait for then the food even though they weren't super busy. Food was decent and for the price you can't really complain but at the same time it wasn't anything special. Portion sizes were decent too which made the meal a decent value overall. Would I come here again though? Ehhh probably not. I wouldn't say this place is bad or horrible but it doesn't really stand out in any way. If you want to spend some money during the weekend on a nice brunch then The Lunch Box wouldn't be the place to go. Pretty much everything they make here is basically what you could make at home.

Next to Squidfire, across from Golden West on The Avenue.

This place just opened up in Hampden. It occupies the former Mike's Place location across from Golden West on the Avenue. We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday and were seated immediately. Nothing fancy about this little place that specializes in breakfast and lunch. It's a straightforward breakfast joint; eggs, home fries, coffee, breakfast meats. I had the eggs, corned beef hash, and home fries. My wife had eggs and bacon. Hearty portions and just what you'd expect; a great breakfast. The thing that set the Lunch Box apart was the prices. About half as much as you are going to spend at Golden West or Cafe Hon. Golden West may have more exotic breakfast options, but The Lunch Box was exactly the same quality as Cafe Hon at about half the price! Definitely recommend!

Cheeseburger with fries and french toast with 2 eggs and bacon. The fries taste just like fries from Popeyes!

This place is a very casual and cheap place to get quick food. However, it's not the cleanest place in the world. As soon as we were seated, I was given a dirty fork that still had remains of some dried up egg yolk. Other than that, the food was pretty good. It's not anything gourmet but it'll fix your dirty food cravings. My boyfriend ordered the cheeseburger with fries (their fries taste just like the Popeyes fries!). I ordered the French Toast with two eggs and bacon. The prices are pretty good too. I give two stars even though the food was good. It's pretty dirty in there and you kind of feel dirty after eating too. PS- I read somewhere on the reviews they only take cash. They take cards, just not American express

It's definitely a place you have to see to appreciate. One of the biggest conveniences is the parking. They have a designated customer parking lot in addition to available street parking, which takes the stress out of finding a spot. We visited on a Sunday around 12:30 PM with a party of five and were seated immediately. From start to finish, everything exceeded expectations. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient, and every dish that came to the table was outstanding. We ordered the large Caesar salad, pulled pork sandwich, chicken quesadilla, Monte Egg breakfast sandwich, pesto burger, onion rings and Southern Love burger. Every meal was generously portioned, arrived fresh, and was packed with flavor. No one at the table had a complaint, and everyone left impressed. PaperMoon Diner isn't just known for its quirky atmosphere, it also delivers incredible food to match. This place was a one-and-done experience for us. Never again!!…read more My husband and I ended up here after the Dave Chappelle show because our original dinner plans fell through when the restaurant was fully booked. We should have made reservations, but at that point, all we wanted was a decent meal (nothing fancy) after a long workweek and then to head home. Unfortunately, a decent meal didn't happen. The food was some of the worst we've had in a long time. My husband actually spit food into his napkin, shook his head, and said, "I'm done." I've never seen him do that before. Several dishes were simply inedible. The mashed potatoes were bland and flavorless--how do you mess up mashed potatoes? The potato salad was equally bland and disappointing. The French onion soup had very little broth and was overloaded with a thick layer of hardened cheese. Overall, the food tasted cheap and poorly prepared, yet the prices suggested otherwise. It felt like diner-quality food being sold at premium prices. What made the experience even more frustrating was the manager's response. He came to our table after hearing about our concerns, but instead of focusing on the quality issues we raised, he seemed more concerned that my husband refused to order a replacement meal. That spoke volumes about where the priorities were. The one bright spot was our server, who was attentive, friendly, and professional throughout the meal. No complaints regarding the server as he was extremely apologetic with our experience. To our surprise, the restaurant also added an automatic gratuity to our bill. Ironically, had that not been done, we likely would have tipped our server more because he was not the problem. The kitchen and management were. No, I didn't complain about the tip after I noticed it on our bill. We were over the experience and just wanted to pay and get the hell out of there. Save yourself the disappointment and spend your hard earned money elsewhere. We certainly wish we had. Gordon Ramsay, if you're looking for a future Kitchen Nightmares episode, this place could desperately use the help. P.S. A business name change is not going to help with the quality of the food. Do better and prove that you actually care about your customers, not just the $$.

Another group came in to be seated and she told them the same thing, and then said she doesn't care where they sit, it doesn't matter. Kay's Diner is a nostalgic, cozy Black-owned diner in Baltimore. As soon as I entered, I felt the love! The owner Kay and the manager Sheim are frequently walking around checking in on their guests. We sat next to a couple regulars who were known by the employees by name. It stands out a lot to me when a business has regulars that are treated like family. They offer counter-top seating as well as a few booths. The menu is extensive offering way more than classic diner breakfast, lunch & dinner. I ordered the French toast combo with a side of potatoes. It was a satisfying meal overall! Eggs were fried hard with cheese, potatoes were well seasoned, bacon was crispy! My only distaste is that they used regular bread rather than brioche for their French toast. The flavor on the French was amazing, it's topped with a cinnamon sugar butter. I washed everything down with an amazing Arnold Palmer. The Perfect balance of tea and lemonade. The coco bread was buttery and light, a delicious treat. My friend and I decided to share one their fresh pressed seamoss juices. It was good! -Customer service is amazing! The employees really treat you like family. -Free street parking available close by. -Countertop and booth seating. Plenty of TVs. -Prices are average. French toast combo was $14.99.
