Restaurant had great atmosphere, decor, and music. Definite Mexican appeal. Food was great. Served quickly. And nice portion sizes. They made sure our drinks were refilled. Also at every Mexican restaurant they seem to have a standard for "fajita quesadillas." (I've had this happen at other restaurants before) I expect some fajita meats and veggies with lots of cheese in a tortilla. Instead I get very little cheese and lots of meats and veggies. Which is delicious but it is misleading cause it's definitely not a quesadilla. From now on if I'm craving a quesadilla I'm going to order something else. Do wish they had more friendly staff overall around the restaurant. I went to the restroom & found no toilet paper. Finally someone was able to change it but they only put it in one stall and that particular stall had a dirty toilet seat. Also there were paper towels on the ground that the employee didn't pick up when he went in to put toilet paper. I understand everyone is short staffed right now but the bathrooms definitely needed attention. But overall I would definitely go back to eat there again. read more

While in Lexington,TN. Today, I tried Atzimba Mexicán Restaurant and the carnitas and Chili Verde were both wonderful. A friend of mine had the steak and chicken fajitas and said they were great also The Carnitas really impressed me. Large chunks of roasted pork (not the small cubes that I see a lot here in Tennessee). And the flavor was spot on. I also love the fact that it came with a pickled jalapeño, I wish it had the charred ones, but the pickled was better than nada! The bite of the Chili Verde I had was good also...and the order was huge. You could have fed two people with each order. So a good bang for the buck for sure. We are from Texas and wanted to try Tennessee Mexican food. If this is the best place In town, then I'm disappointed. To start, the menus had mold on them. The queso was watery. We are gluten free. We asked if the chili rellenos were breaded. To which we were told no. When we got our plates, the chili rellenos were in fact, breaded. So so disappointing and an insult to Mexican food. read more

They recently were forced to increase the cost of menu items by 30% - 50% due to the inflation as a result of COVID-19 because their prices were so insanely cheap (one of their lunch items was $3.75 or $4 for an enchilada, taco, and choice of rice or beans! That's late 1990's or early 2000's prices!) The only thing lacking sometimes is service. It's hit or miss. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's mediocre. I have dined there many times, sometimes alone, sometimes with my mother and maternal grandmother. If service was always up to par, I would indubitably rate them 5 stars! Otherwise, you will leave satisfied and your wallet happy! I don't (I have a big appetite, I'm a big guy) but my mother and grandmother usually have enough food for two meals....for less than $10 at lunch! read more

We have waited nearly 30 minutes for our drink order to be taken after being sat with 5 people at a 4 person booth. They did not give us silverware or menus and the waiter was rude AT BEST. This restaurant is in the regular rotation in Lexington because there aren't many restaurants here. Today we lunched there and the experience was the same as always: Subpar food, and staff so rude they border on being abusive. My mom ordered a side salad but the waiter didn't ask her dressing preference. When he dropped our food and ran we were unable to get his attention so I walked around trying to get it for her while my lunch got cold. No one asked if our food was satisfactory, no one offered to refill our drinks. We could have used more napkins but I knew it would be difficult to request. There's a BIG sign near the door to remind guests the servers work for tips. Really? They must all be going bankrupt. No more Atzimba's for me! I'll go to Los Portales where the prices are higher but they won't make me feel I'm imposing on them. read more

The cheese enchiladas were excellent. We did have an issue with a serious language barrier with the waiter and the first order was wrong. I live in Lexington, and I will say THANK GOODNESS for "the other" Mexican restaurant in town, the competition. If you want a steak dish here, ribeye is not on the menu, only skirt steak, so hope you like chicken....very very thin chicken. I hate the salsa, too much cilantro, and it's consistent, tastes same every time. like soapy dish water. Service is dismal, no one seems happy or pleased to serve you. I used to have to go here alot.
