Atzimba's Mexican Restaurant is just of the highway and all in all, was a positive dining experience and honestly, this area appears to be lacking dining options. The chips and salsa was a nice way to start my meal and for my entree, I went with the burrito Fiesta. Service was good, though there was a language barrier. I asked an opinion between two of the menu items and the language barrier made it impossible for an answer. It was still friendly service. The ambiance was what you would expect froma small town Mexican restaurant. It also had a small bar in the back. I tipped very generously on my meal which was $10. Food: 6.5/10. When you get seated, you are greeted with generous bowl of chips and a bottle of salsa (very typical of a Mexican Restaurant). However, I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the #3 dinner combo which came with a Chile Renello (which was super cheesy), beef burrito (stuffed with meat in a tortilla, with no other condiments), and a beef enchilada. We were greeted by our server, Abby, with a big smile and enthusiasm. We were seated at a nice clean booth. It was a rainy day but the temperature was very comfortable. We ordered margaritas that were exceptionally good! We ordered appetizers of guacamole and queso and both were some of the best I've ever tasted! I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it was so full of chunks of chicken that there really was very little broth! It was so delicious! I also ordered a tostada that was perfect. My husband specialty ordered exactly what he wanted which was a combination of chorizo and carnitas and he was very pleased! They were very accommodating and we give it an A+! read more

Nothing is better than a good mexican restaurant and this place is no exception! The service was quick and staff was friendly. Chips and salsa tasted like any good mexican restaurant, queso was a bit more on the thick side but still delicious, and my entree was amazing! I got the burrito cancun and would recommend 101%. The shrimp had great flavor and left a good taste in your mouth. The rice was also nice and fluffy. Only con is that the water is tap water but other than that this place is amazing! read more

So randomly on the way to Tennessee, we found this place. What was only 10 miles off the highway, felt.like it took forever to get to. I think it was worth it though. There queso is made with goat's milk which is my favorite type of queso. Dunk.your chip into the queso several times and it costs the chips more with every dunk. It's not a thick queso but I loved the flavor it had. There salsa was alright. Could have used a little more something in it to give it more of a punch of flavor. Being from Texas, we choose our Mexican restaurants based on there chips and salsa. This wouldn't be one I'd go to all the time but I would if I was craving my entree. I believe I got there shrimp chimichanga with the queso sauce on top. Along with the shrimp, it also had roasted peppers and grilled onions on the inside. Atizimba Mexican Restaurant is a new thriving Mexican establishment located in Parkers Crossroads. It offers a fresh change for local residents, who otherwise might not get the chance to have this type of cuisine for the area, a chance to enjoy some food without driving 30 minutes to Jackson. Despite being such a thriving establishment that offers karaoke, happy hour, and a place where people can gather for fun: it lacks basic hygiene practices. I feel this particularly disturbing because everybody was without masks. I took me time to ask the owner of the restaurant why he was not inforcing mask wearing. He simply replied that if it is a problem, then don't go out. See, I feel differently. I feel if you are able to gather in a space and do it with common sense then it is not a problem. Enforcing your employees who interacts with customers to wear masks shouldn't be a difficult order to serve up. However, when you are the owner of a restaurant, and you completely dismiss the concerns of your patrons, I feel that that is poor business management and also disregarding the very well being of the people who are keeping you in business. I feel strongly that Manuel, the owner, just does not care about the local clientele nor his employees. It was quite obvious to me that the people who frequent his establishment are regulars; my family included, hence my visit. I am glad that Manuel has a following, but when you deliberately remove the ramainder of your mask and get close to my face to let me know you do not care - that is negligence and putting my health at risk. It isn't hard to understand. For starters, social distance your tables when your customers aren't wearing masks when they are sitting down. It had a lot of older people in the restaurant, but no concern was there for distancing. You're especially putting those of old age at risk. Service staff getting close to said patrons are a risk. You're going out of your way to put people at risk for a virus. Manuel's carelessnesse, his lack of empathy, and has nonchalant disregard for what I had to say really disgustsd me. I hate that anybody would be just so disregarding during a pandemic. People are dying and people are suffering because of this pandemic. I only saw one employee wearing a mask properly. It was the person who was cleaning the table. As I said, the only reason I stayed was because my family was here. I wore my mask when I got up from the table when I went to the bathroom or exited the establishment. When at my table, my mask was off. I fully grasp that this place is in a county that does not have a mask mandate. In the eyes of the law, he likely was not doing anything illegal. But, on the flip side, I truly just feel there should be common sense. Common sense was not demonstrated and therefore I won't return. That's it. Let me leave you with this. If they aren't being sanitary with their patrons out in the open, who knows what they could be doing in the kitchen around your food or drink. read more

The decor is really appealing and very appropriate for a Mexican food restaurant. The server we had did not really interact with us even though we tried to get his recommendations for the food on the menu. The chili relleno was horrible with a heavy pizza like breading and NO flavor. It was not edible so I sent it back and ordered a pork enchilada with green sauce. This enchilada was very good. My husband completely enjoyed his Burrito Real (chicken). The tortilla chips were thick with little taste and the salsa was missing something (it was bland and had a tomato juice texture to it). There are so many great Mexican good restaurants to eat at that I do not think we will return to Atzimba's Mexican Restaurant. read more

My favorite spot in town, not that there are many to choose from...but still! My husband does not like the salsa here, and I agree it could use more flavor and heat, but it has grown on me and the consistency is just right. I've tried many different menu items, but my favorites so far have to be the Burrito Macho or a taco salad! I'm also a big fan of their refried beans, but the rice lacks flavor and tends to be a little dry. The food has been consistently delicious and almost always made correctly. We order to-go a lot and it's ready super fast! They have a great selection of drinks at the bar, though I wish they offered horchata! Since my review will be the third review and based on the crazy person who wrote a novel for one of the other 2 reviews, I can honestly say this place did not dissapoint! If your passing by on the 40 I highly recommend you stop here. My family is so picky when it comes to Mexican food, I can honestly say I had not found a place on the east side of the states that do Mexican food right until now. The salsa verde you can tell is home made. The portion sizes are great and the prices can't be beat! With 4 people in our group the bill was $35! Also the chips and salsa was on point (if you are a Mexican food person you know why this is important). And don't listen to that crazy persons review based purely on covid guidelines. The staff was sweet and tentative, everything was nice and clean, people spaced out if that is a concern. All in all I highly recommend it and will be back! read more

I don't know what the name of the restaurant means. But I do know they don't charge enough for this GREAT food!! I had an excellent Chile Relleno and Beef Enchilada w/rice and beans die 7.96!!! The margarita was also underpriced at $6 for a large schooner. Maybe some of the best rice I've had at a Mexican place in 10 years. The salsa was also very good. I HIGHLY recommend this place. The owner needs to up the prices though. Seriously! $8 for that dinner combo would easily be $11.99 anywhere else. Maybe as high as $13.99. Really great find. You won't be disappointed. read more

We stopped here traveling down interstate 240. The salsa is really good. The chips aren't as light as I really like, but they are still good. I ordered a chicken taco salad which had a nice flavor and was proportioned well. My husband ordered beef taco salad. I tasted a bite, and it was good too. I stumbled on this little place while passing through to Memphis. The place is nothing to look at from the outside. Just a small unassuming building with parking on three sides. When you walk in the door, the place becomes a Mexican oasis. The furniture is exquisitely carved and painted. The decorations are exactly what you would expect for a Mexican Restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The menu is roughly three pages of typical Mexican cuisine with some specialty items. The menu also has a lunch menu and kids menu area. The staff brought complimentary chips and salsa, which was delicious, with just enough spice to mildly heat up your mouth. They asked if we'd like more chips and salsa, we declined because we didn't want to fill up before our meal. I ordered the Shrimp Chimichanga and my colleague ordered shrimp and steak fajitas. The food was delivered hot, fresh and delicious. The portions were large and plated very well. From order to delivery was less than 10mins. The staff was available for any requests and checked on us regularly. This is a place that offers good quality food at a reasonable price. We also like hot hot salsa, we asked the waitress for something hotter than they originally provided and were very happy with what they brought. The staff was friendly and efficient.
