The front desk clerk was friendly. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel was quiet during my stay. The AC and mini-fridge worked very well. The TV has limited channels, no in-room coffee maker, no breakfast available and limited outlets for your electronics. Free WiFi available. The shower amenities were limited to a shampoo, conditioner, body wash combo. Water pressure was average at best and it took forever to get warm - not hot, just warm. Should I return to bike the trail again, I would probably look to book a room closer to the trail and the restaurants.

The room and motel are very basic, but the room is a good size and EXCEPTIONALLY clean. Very quiet motel and Vince and management are fantastic! We weren't sure what to expect as we have never stayed in anything lower than a 4 and a half star hotel, but upon reading the reviews we thought this looked like it was worth a try as the price was right and we have to watch our money now. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend this place. WONDERFUL stay and wonderful treatment!! Also, don't forget to try the La Table Des Gourmets restaurant in the town; best food we ever had in our life--worth the price; you will feel like you are dining in France!! Of the places we stayed on our trip along the Petit Trail Du Nord, this was our least favorite…read more Although the rooms were nice and very comfortable, we found the staff to be unfriendly and the food at the B&B outrageously expensive. When we rode in with our family after biking, the staff were not very welcoming and, in fact, made us feel like we were imposing on them. As very low maintenance travelers, we found it odd that this vibe was given off and we found it uncomfortable. Hard to exactly say what it was, but we found that we always felt that we were doing something wrong...not a fond feeling when traveling! The food was also unreasonably expensive. $22.00 pp for breakfast! No thanks!

The inn is about 1 km SE of the center of Val-David on Lac Dore, a small, quiet lake (no power boats). The inn has a private swim beach, dock, and platform. The inn is easily accessible from the rail trail, though not obvious. We arrived in the afternoon and were given rooms in an annex building across a quiet street. Our rooms had therapeutic baths, rather than showers, so we asked to be moved to rooms with showers, and they seemed happy to switch us. Since we were across the street, our rooms did not have a view of the lake, but the rooms were comfortable, air conditioned, and nicely furnished, if somewhat oddly arranged. The beds were very comfortable. We seemed to be the only occupants in the annex, and the doors of the unoccupied rooms were left standing open, so we walked around and looked into some of the rooms. Some of those bedrooms were truly luxurious! But those rooms had the therapeutic baths, not showers. The inn provided secure storage for our bikes in a separate building. It was a fairly hot day for Quebec, so we spent some time swimming in the lake before dinner. Just lovely. Kayaks and paddleboards were also available at the beach. Dinner was outstanding, and the service was excellent. The tables look out over the lake, a lovely setting. Apparently, breakfast is normally served starting at 9 am, but we asked if we could have breakfast at 8 am, to get an earlier start biking. Again, the staff seemed happy to accommodate us, and we were served breakfast at 8 am. Breakfast was also excellent. Definitely staying here again next time we are in the area. Note: All of the rooms at this inn are apparently different. The majority of the rooms seem to have therapeutic baths, not showers, so if you require a shower, make sure that you reserve a room that has a shower. It wasn't cheap but it was one of the cheaper places in the village. It's at the bottom the village near the clock tower. It's a quick walk up the hill to catch the gondolas to head up the mountain, plus there are restaurants within walking distance. The free stand-up gondola which takes you to the top of the village is nearby. There was a mini kitchen as we entered. There was a living room/dining room (alas the fireplace doesn't work). There was a bathroom off the dining room/living. Go up the stairs and you were in the bedroom. And there was a bathroom off the bedroom (yes, there were two bathrooms!!). Breakfast was from 6:30am to 10:30am ... there was toast, eggs, cereal, waffles, fruit, juice, coffee, etc. When we went down just after 10am yesterday there wasn't much left. Gord went earlier today and had eggs, etc. You have to pay for Internet through an outside provider (it was $25 for three days and it worked well). There is parking ... we had flown in and taken a shuttle from the airport so I don't know too much about it. There is an outdoor hot tub that we had intended to use yesterday but never got a chance. After snowshoeing, we came back to our room and chilled instead.

We wanted a place with plenty of space, waterfront and, since we'd be travelling with 2 kids under three, not too far from Montreal. Luckily we already heard of Chalets Oasis. (Yes it's part of the Fiddler Lake gated community but it's a long/weird complicated story that seems to punish Chalets Oasis renters) So at 600$+ a night we found our luxury rental. Every aspect related to booking and renting went perfectly. The week leading up to the rental date I found myself taking the initiative to know things such as the access code, which, for the price I found odd but dismissed. Also checkin was at 4:00 (total waste of a day)! Again, a bit surprised considering the price. There was an option for early checkin at noon but I had to inquire. Chalets Oasis should always assume early checkin is preferable. It costs an additional (somewhat insulting) 35$ but I would have paid for it. Upon our arrival we noticed the outside was littered with cigarette butts and shards of glass. Look don't get me wrong, it was a great location, a huge house and plenty of amenities. It's clear however the owners do NOT even visit here otherwise they would have noticed that: - most hinges and door handles need to be replaced - bathtub stoppers don't work (remember kids) - loose/cracked tiles here and there - and other tiny details that most people probably wouldn't care about Again I refer to the price and suggest that Chalets Oasis needs to focus on the final touches and stop continuing to kick the repair can down the road

I stayed here overnight with 2 friends and we all wished that we could have stayed forever!…read more A simple and classic Quebecois style chalet that has been renovated beautifully inside, this homey b&b has 6 double rooms to rent and is run by two super welcoming guys named Jean-Charles and Daniel. They are located in the lovely little village of St.Adolphe d'Howard, which is a refreshingly non-commercial hold-out in the fun park that is the Laurentians nowadays. The b&b is directly on Lac St. Joseph with a small, private beach. They have pedalos (pedal boats) and kayaks that you can take out on the lake, which is wonderful, especially at sunset or sunrise. You can take your meals by the water or spend the evening next to a small fire by the water. Basically, it's heavenly! We rented a room expecting just a place to lay our heads, but we found a beautiful, relaxing place to spend a beautiful night chatting by firelight next to the lake! I was able to take a peak at 3 of the rooms (besides the one we stayed in) and they all looked well-kept. The bed I slept in was comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. There was a small common room with a fridge (you can keep some food there), a kettle, tea, a tv and a huge book of quebecois films to watch (free!). We ate our breakfast on the balcony facing the lake. They were extremely accomodating of all our dietary restrictions (one vegetarian, one-non-dairy eating meat-eater). The food was DELICIOUS and pretty generous for a b&b. We sat on the balcony practically all afternoon! Basically, I'm in love with this place and I'm going back as soon as possible. Also to be noted, if you stay here you get a 10% discount on services at Spa d'Howard (chech my other reviews for more about this), which is an awesome spa about 4 minutes drive (or a lovely walk) from the Auberge.
