Phil's art is the divine breakfast he serves, from the fresh squeezed orange juice, to the poached peaches, cheese and blueberries plate, to the berry pancakes. The King room we stayed in is expansive with a high-end, large, luxurious private bath. At the other end of the room is a sitting area in front of large sliding glass doors that lead out to a patio over-looking the lake. A few steps below is the dock for lounging and swimming, plus a double kayak for your use. Everything about our stay was exceptional. I highly recommend this stunning place with the most charming hosts. How often can you say that you've stayed at the home of a great Canadian landscape artist? I guarantee you'll go home with your very own Gordon Harrison painting too - who can resist!

What could be more perfect after a day at the most amazing spa in the world and a cozy Italian dinner than a perfect bed and breakfast experience? Not much if you ask me.... Where to begin? The home is picture perfect and nestled in the woods surrounded by leaves upon glorious leaves. An inviting front porch appropriately decorated for the season and a backyard filled with hues of yellow and a hot tub! Perfection! The room was lovely. Immaculate and cozy. The most comfortable bed complete with crisp white linens and super plush pillows. Their signature feather (plume is feather in French) was found creatively dispersed in the details including a throw pillow and on the door to each room. I loved every thought out detail such as the maple leaves as a nod to Canada. We took advantage of the oversized tub and lovely smelling bath accessories. We loved the playful addition of the rubber duckies! The robes were perfectly folded and a treat to put on after our relaxing bath as we cozied up. The room has a CD player, DVD player and and a small flatscreen with satellite. We had a fantastic nights sleep in this space. The house was super cozy as well and filled with local artist as well as the owner's own artwork. All were of gorgeous local scenes. Amazing! They are all for sale also! The food was unreal! We were graciously handed a menu to fill out before bedtime with a place to select a time we would like to enjoy our meal. I was a tad confused as there were so many options. You each choose one from each category. So much food and it all sounded incredible! It absolutely was! The hosts take pride in their culinary skills and it surely shows. Each dish was created, plated and garnished with the upmost care. They also have a hydroponic garden in the basement so your meal is garden fresh. The menu was very creative, but didn't stray from the local surroundings. They will certainly cater to your dietary needs. The night before our stay was Canadian Thanksgiving and we were invited to join in for a full dinner. They even went out of their way to make me veg friendly plates! The hosts couldn't have been friendlier, kinder and more knowledgeable of the area. It was an absolute perfect night and up there with our favorite bed & breakfast experiences. I stayed here overnight with 2 friends and we all wished that we could have stayed forever!…read more A simple and classic Quebecois style chalet that has been renovated beautifully inside, this homey b&b has 6 double rooms to rent and is run by two super welcoming guys named Jean-Charles and Daniel. They are located in the lovely little village of St.Adolphe d'Howard, which is a refreshingly non-commercial hold-out in the fun park that is the Laurentians nowadays. The b&b is directly on Lac St. Joseph with a small, private beach. They have pedalos (pedal boats) and kayaks that you can take out on the lake, which is wonderful, especially at sunset or sunrise. You can take your meals by the water or spend the evening next to a small fire by the water. Basically, it's heavenly! We rented a room expecting just a place to lay our heads, but we found a beautiful, relaxing place to spend a beautiful night chatting by firelight next to the lake! I was able to take a peak at 3 of the rooms (besides the one we stayed in) and they all looked well-kept. The bed I slept in was comfortable and the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. There was a small common room with a fridge (you can keep some food there), a kettle, tea, a tv and a huge book of quebecois films to watch (free!). We ate our breakfast on the balcony facing the lake. They were extremely accomodating of all our dietary restrictions (one vegetarian, one-non-dairy eating meat-eater). The food was DELICIOUS and pretty generous for a b&b. We sat on the balcony practically all afternoon! Basically, I'm in love with this place and I'm going back as soon as possible. Also to be noted, if you stay here you get a 10% discount on services at Spa d'Howard (chech my other reviews for more about this), which is an awesome spa about 4 minutes drive (or a lovely walk) from the Auberge.

I contemplated posting photos of the delightful interior of the Gingerbread Manor, but in doing so, I would simply be ruining the surprise for the handful of people who might stumble upon this review. We booked a room with a private bath (de Maisonneuve) which was equipped with all the amenities one needs. The bed was comfortable to the point where it was hard to simply get out it each morning during the days we were there. Every morning, we were served breakfast by Ephraim. Each meal was complemented by a parfait starter and mini-desserts. It must be said that the coffee was excellent. But besides the quality of the food, the experience would not be the same without Yves and Ephraim. While we were out and about every day, we didn't have much of a chance to see Yves. Yves was the first to greet us upon arrival to make us feel at home. We spent most of our days chatting with Ephraim, who was a terrific host that I would liken to be a "walking Wikipedia" for everything Montreal. Our morning conversations were long and engaging covering topics from culinary arts and political science to music and technology. His restaurant recommendations were refreshingly honest and we never made a bad choice. He has my heartfelt gratitude for the introduction to the heart-attack inducing Canadian dish of poutine! The lovely Gingerbread Manor is a five-star experience. The hosts run a first-class operation, which is reflected in their personality and ability to make their guests feel right at home. I have no need to try any other B&B or any hotel the next time I return to Montreal. I might not even go back to Montreal if a room at Gingerbread Manor is not available.

After a hot day of riding, Guy met us on their wonderful, airy porch with glasses of cold water. He then directed us to the lake behind the B&B where we went for a wonderful and refreshing swim. The dinner Diane made was delicious and a definite must for people staying at the inn. Accommodations were very comfortable and the breakfast the day we rode out was perfect to start a day on a bike. Highly recommend for anyone who is biking or passing through!
