I called Brooke to get a smog on a 1996 vehicle and she was able to get me in that day which I appreciated. This was not recently, but unfortunately it looks like this place has had issues with hiring staff so they have closed. Hopefully only temporarily. Very rude to customers , was told to show up at 8:00 and get told i have to wait till 11:00 for a re inspection . Being the only place that does brake and lamp inspections for the state of California, they sure do take advantage of being the only company in auburn that does these inspections. Lady at front desk advised me to come back after I made repairs, and to come early before they open , so they can get me wrapped up and finalize the brake and lamp. They tell me that I can show up at 11:00 , after she said show up when they open. Poor business tactics by claiming "this is why we don't even want to do "brake and lamp" .. aster asking the lady who told me to come back why she would have me come back to wait 3 hours when she said it could get done in the am if I showed up early. Some guy jumps on the phone tell me take it or leave it bud. We're the only ones who do it up here. If you don't like it go somewhere else.. 10/10 will never spend a dime at this place.. read more

Who says honest mechanics are impossible to find? If you're lucky enough to get an appointment here, these guys are GREAT at auto repair, and less than what I intended to pay. Diagnosis was spot-on (broken manifold bolt) and promptly taken care of. Husband/wife team, both communicative and straightforward. The only downside is that it's a small shop and I think they like it that way. We'll definitely be back for repairs and smog. read more

In and out in less than a half an hour - prompt service with a big smile. Also on the plus side, they charged less than 50 bucks to completely smog my car - including the certificate - and this is where the five stars comes in - they had good magazines and no loud TV or radio in their waiting area. I get so sick of waiting to have my car worked on/looked at and being forced into watching daytime TV. This is a wonderful shop, clean, welcoming, very good at communicating while they have your car, easy to get a hold of, and very reasonably priced. During the Memorial Day weekend my car broke down in South Lake Tahoe. I had it towed to Auburn Auto N Smog, on Tuesday morning I called and spoke to Brooke, she was very clear about the timeline in regards to getting my car up and running (they had my car up and running a full day before I expected them to), and she was great about keeping me in the loop and recommending an alignment (that I TOTALLY needed) but not pressuring into purchasing anything I couldn't afford right then. Even though my car was broken, it was a stress free interaction with this shop. We plan on using Auburn Auto N Smog for all our car care needs going forward. They've earned a customer for life. Auburn Auto N Smog provided quick, friendly and professional service. Plus I asked for a same day appointment and they fit me in even though they were very busy (not that they can do that for everybody, but the young lady who helped me was very gracious about it.) One other good thing, in the short time I waited for them to do the work, an older woman with a mobility issue came in thinking she was in the next door business... rather than just telling her to go next door, the lady at the front desk came out with her, and went to retrieve someone from the neighboring business so the woman didn't have to walk further. That had nothing to do with the service provided to me, but that is the kind of attitude, service and personality that I always want to do business with in my community! read more

Been going here for 12+ years, at least the same place. Current owner, Les, I think, is good to deal with. Attention to detail which is needed to be a certified SMOG station and runs a good shop.
