Ive been using them for years. Ive brought all makes and models of Japanese cars to them, and always been happy with the work Ive received. They are also very knowledgeable in smog related repairs for older Japanese cars. They are a S.T.A.R. certified repair and test station for California. I do not recommend Strictly Toy-Ondas. After completing their $180 vehicle inspection, I got serious vibrations in my steering wheel, and asked the representative to have the mechanic check it out. She told me to take it to a tire place, and that she couldn't do anything, even though the vibrations started the NIGHT I got my car back. She was very annoyed sounding. I took my car to another establishment and they immediately diagnosed the problem which was missed by Strictly Toy-Ondas. They actually fixed the problem in less than 20 minutes. I called and spoke to the representative and told her what she missed, and she argued with me, and said that there was no way she could have handled it and that it wasn't their responsibility. She was extremely rude. This is no way to treat your clients. read more

We do not recommend them and will not return due to our experiences here. They are nice, but it just seemed like every time we brought the car in a new issue was created during the visit. For example, when we got transmission oil replaced, the plug was not put back on correctly and it was only by luck we found out the oil was all leaking out as we were looking under the car at something else. Had we not noticed, the car would have frozen and the transmission would have been destroyed. We did give it 3 tries, but they just were not a good fit for our family. read more

I have a 2011 Toyota Corolla and Strictly Toy-Ondas keeps it going very well. They are very professional and always update you if the repair will cost more than estimated. They remind me when it is time to have a service. What I really appreciate is that I am able schedule an appointment and wait while it is being worked on. This is useful as I live quite far away but I am prepared to travel the distance due to their great work. They also do not do extra work that is not necessary. Their prices are also reasonable. Trustworthy place. Is there any more you need to know? It's hard to find that in the auto repair industry. They go above and beyond and give you a fair deal. I had some indicator lights that wouldn't go out no matter what anyone would. They said they could get them out with some repairs but all I wanted was to get the thing smoged so I could sell it. They got that and helped me pass my smog and even went the extra mile (literally) by driving it around to get the computer to have what it needed. Super appreciated. read more

Recently I was on the hunt for an awesome mechanic to do a technical install of a very expensive Magnuson Supercharger for my beloved 4runner. I couldn't find anyone local who felt confident doing the job. A friend recommended strictly toyondas of Auburn. I gave them a call and a friendly lady answered. I explained what I needed to have done. She says hold I'll talk to one of our mechanics. Expecting the same response I braced myself for disappointment and the long trek to Sacramento for a skilled person. She got back after a minute or so and said... Yes, we can do it! When do you want to bring it in? My Response. What? Come again? For real??? A few days later I roll on in thinking to myself, this place is right out of the movies a small local shop in a quiet part of town family run. Lots of... shall I say older and wiser folks chatting and sharing jokes with the front desk while dropping or picking up there cars. I spoke to the nice ladies who I learned were the Wife and daughter of the owner and lead mechanic and made me feel more comfortable leaving my precious. I dropped off my keys, hugged my car and let her know I'll be back soon for her. Two days later I got the call, come and get her! Upon arrival and close inspection. HOLY $HIT! this is a super clean pro job! Since the install, I have waited a few months to write this. YES, I waited because I don't write puff pieces I am a serious Yelper!!! I can now say with certainty, this was a flawless job and my car has performed perfectly. I couldn't be happier. Bottom line, Think Karate kid Mr. Mioggi if he were a mechanic this would be his place! I kid you not, this guy works on cars all week and then builds from scratch these insanely beautiful cars for his hobby! That's a frickin real deal mechanic! I am not that type of person You're just lying about something that never occurred and this is just to let you know after all this time. I went back and read it because you tried ripping me off. That's your business but you're response to my statements were fibs and I don't trust fibbers. And you did not give me an estimate. And I pointed out when you replace that Whole left side tire use different sized bolts and one bolt kept hitting above on above on the frame but you wouldn't get down to look at it. I absolutely swear by this place!! I think I always will... The staff here is so informational, honest, and willing to go above and beyond. I bought a new Prius yesterday, and before I called in to get an estimate for a standard diagnostic, basic car sweep before buying the vehicle, and to see if they could fit me in and they were able to do it all. Janette spent a good 10-15 minutes on the phone in detail describing all about a Prius with advice, gave me a lower estimate than others in the area (Auburn Auto Doc), and was able to squeeze me in that later afternoon. Oppose to others rush you off the phone, and sometimes just don't sound that genuine. It wasn't just that they were cheaper, but the ladies and mechanics are so humble, helpful and appear with integrity. Our family has lived in the area for over 20 years, and there's only so many reputable places in Auburn, we'd take our cars too that work just on Toyota's. This is one! We tend to do car estimates to see who gives us the best price and best vibes, which it's hard to not from them because they're so compassionate and patient. Their prices do tend to be a little higher than competitors, so we decide from here because these things listed above; we trust them and love supporting locally verses sometimes the big guys. We've lived in Auburn for 15 years, and I had never needed to get my car repaired as I do most of my maintenance and repair myself. Until today, my daughter's car had an issue which I could not fix without buying an expensive new part from Toyota. Out of desperation, I looked up repair shops and found Strictly Toy-Ondas, right across the street from my daughter's high school. I went in with low expectations, and was courteously and promptly helped by John. He evaluated my situation (wheel bearing/hub issue) and within 10 minutes had resolved my issue and solved my problem. Oh, and he would not take payment. They have a customer for life! They were able to find the part at a dealership nearby for a good reasonable price without me having to deal about ordering online is something that might not work out. Yikes! I hate doing this, but I gotta... We had been taking our Hondas and Toyotas to Strictly Toy-Ondas for 11 years. Recently we took our truck in for service and were told it needed a tranny flush. At 30k miles, I thought that was a bit odd, so I did some googling and found that our transmission is a closed system and Toyota doesn't even recommend checking the fluid until over 75k miles (usually not til 100k miles). Some online posters went so far as to say that if they do flush the system, the transmission could be ruined. ACK! So, freaking out, I called and we didn't get that service done. Holy crap, Batman. Close call! We subsequently called the Toyota dealership and ask the service manager a question: If there were ever a time a truck with 30k miles needs a tranny flush; he laughed and said that if we did need a flush, a dashboard light would indicate that we needed to take the truck in for a service. Even if we towed heavy loads 75% of the time (which we don't), it's unlikely. He also said that if the mechanic who opened the closed system had tampered with it (i.e., dirtied the fluid himself), the light would come on. So we were pretty confident at that point that Toy-Ondas didn't know WTF they were doing on our truck. Argh! (And as a side note, I am now annoyed that we let them change the tranny fluid on our car last year when the at only had 40,000 miles! Frick an A!) We don't mind paying for good service, and frankly, the prices at Strictly Toy-Ondas aren't inexpensive. So, we are now trying a new mechanic in town. We quizzed them prior to bringing the car in for a service. Guess what?! They passed with flying colors! They knew that this particular model truck has a closed transmission system and they don't check the fluid when the mileage is so low. If you want to know who we are taking our cars to now, PM me. I take four cars to this shop. They are honest, fair, quick, friendly, & local. I always feel like I'm getting treated well and told the truth. I've gone to other shops and been told all kinds of crazy things. (This is the honest truth, a tire shop recently told me that the wheels on my son's truck were going to fall off if I didn't immediately get $600 worth of work done. - I took my chances, limped over to Strictly Toy-Ondas and $123 later, they fixed the thing that ACTUALLY was wrong, and the tires have remained securely on ever since.) Another time at a dealership I was told that I needed a new radiator for a huge amount of money, and then I went to Strictly Toy-Ondas. ONE THIRD THE PRICE, and done that day!!!! I blew the top of my radiator about 15 miles outside of Auburn. I got towed by AAA to Strickly Toy-Ondas. They were able to fix it up same day, thankfully, as I rolled in around 12pm or so. They were very friendly and the work was reasonably priced. My only complaint was that the mechanic started up my car and drove it 100 feet into the shop. There was no coolant in the engine! The radiator was blown and it was bone dry. My car had been steaming on the side of the road. When I jumped up from my seat and ran over to remind him, in case he perhaps did not yet know the issue with the car, he brushed it off and said it was just a few feet. It did not make me feel secure about his care for the car. read more

The problem was serious and I could not go forward with the repair immediately, but they gave me time. Well, that time turned into months with my sad FJ62 just sitting in their lot. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to have them do the needed work but their generosity, honesty, and friendly flexibility earned them a fan. I don't normally leave reviews for places, but I have to say, I am blown away by Strictly's. Not only are the prices fair and their knowledge for cars beyond my imagination, but they are also kind hearted and lovely individuals. I had a Dodge Durango, and it was problem after problem. The place I previously had gone to only nickel and dimed me, taking nearly $300 and not fixing a single thing. So my mother in law suggested Strictly's. This was my very first car and everyone at Strictly was very patient with me and took the time to explain things. Whenever a new problem was found, they were sure to call me for an okay before continuing as they knew I was getting married and had limited funds. Fast forward some time, the car is doing what I need it to do finally. It's working decent. I thought my troubles were over. The night of my wedding, my engine began having trouble. It was an old Durango with many previous issues so, while disheartened, I was not surprised. So I took it back to Strictly. Maintenance, labor, and new spark plugs had me over $300 already when they discovered I had nearly three grand of work to be done. I told them to leave it. I knew it was time for a new car. I spent the days after my wedding looking for a new car and when I finally went to pick up my old one and pay for what I owed, as a wedding gift, Strictly only charged me $50. I was so thankful that it brought me to tears. I will never go to another place for any car problem ever. This is a really great place to take your vehicle. I brought in my high milage Toyota Land Cruiser into the shop and asked them to go through the truck and give me estimates for repairs. I had recently purchased the vehicle as a project. Basically it leaked from everywhere and always had a cloud of oily smoke around it when I would drive it. The Service Manager Jason and Owner John worked with me to come up with a specific strategy to get me engine sealed, stop leaks, as well as diagnose and recommend other urgent repairs. They even went the extra mile on the repairs and addressed and fixed minor little things and even painted a few parts before reinstalling them. They did a great Job and I will be returning to them soon to have some other work done on my Land Cruiser. read more
