I understand that hearing aids are a significant investment, which is why I was disappointed by my experience with this practice. In April 2021, I purchased my first pair of hearing aids (Widex Moment 110 RIC) from audiologist Marta Gielarowiec for $3,650. At the time, I was told these were among the best hearing aids available. As a first-time hearing aid user, I trusted that recommendation. Unfortunately, I continued to struggle with hearing in environments with background noise, such as restaurants, parties, and other social settings. Conversations often became difficult to follow, and I frequently had to ask people to repeat themselves, which was frustrating and embarrassing. About a year after my purchase, Dr. Gielarowiec began encouraging me to replace my hearing aids, explaining that hearing aid technology advances rapidly. While I understand that newer technology becomes available, purchasing another set so soon after spending thousands of dollars was simply not feasible for me. What concerned me most was that the pressure to "upgrade" continued during subsequent visits. I felt that the focus had shifted from helping me get the most out of my current hearing aids to encouraging another sale. My concerns were reinforced when my husband sought to have his hearing aids repaired. We were told they were more than five years old and could not be repaired. However, another audiologist successfully repaired them and informed us that many patients continue to use and service hearing aids that are well over five years old. Based on my experience, I did not feel that my long-term hearing needs were the priority. If you value an audiologist who focuses on maximizing the performance and lifespan of your existing hearing aids before recommending costly replacements, you may wish to explore other options. read more

Both my wife and I were highly impressed by our meting with Marta Gialarowlec, AU.D Doctor of Audiology. Dr. G took her time to explain what she was thinking based on my interview answers but also asked, where appropriate, follow up questions to understand why I would answer her questions the way I did. Dr. G spent the time needed to deeply investigate how I would use a pair of hearing aids to enable her to make her best possible recommendation and for where hearing aids would help me the most. I was pleased Dr. G would get into the 'nitty gritty' of what hearing aids would actually do to help me and my loved ones. Before I retired, I managed a consulting practice for a major technology organization for a Fortune 500 corporation. i understand the difference between a superficial and a more intense interview. Dr. G explained several times that she wanted to understand what aspects of my hearing I would want to improve the most and setting my expectations of what I could expect. I was also impressed with how Dr. G included my wife in our discussions, seeking her input where appropriate. We would become a team working together to achieve a life-fulfilling goal. I am very comfortable with Dr. G's approach, and could feel the depth of her knowledge and practical experience in this subject area. I am looking forward to continuing the process that will affirm the type of hearing aid that will serve me my loved ones the best. I was pleased to see that her approach was more than checking off boxes on a spreadsheet, but really delved into what I do during the course of a day and the relative importance of the many different activities we discussed. I have had an earlier experience with a major hospital regarding the fit and use of hearing aids. That experience left me disappointed where I questioned the entire idea of using a hearing aid. My experience with Dr. G is 180 degrees different from my earlier experience. Absolutely zero consideration given. These people are not just bad drs but bad people. During a torrential downpour which made us a few minutes late we then had to wait for the elevators for 10 minutes due to an issue. All in all we were only 15 minute late. despite the person being seen living an hour away, being 77 years old and having dementia all of which makes it very hard to get around let alone on time, the Dr absolutely refused to see him. All of this after they asked us for accommodation to make the appt later then the original time. very upsetting. do not expect any consideration from them and if this is any indication how they treat patients i would stay far away. read more

My wife had another audiologist before but she was interested more in selling to my wife than to help my wife with her hearing loss issue. With Marta (Gielarowiec), Au.D., her new audiologist, it is very different: Marta is very professional, patient, and sincerely interested in helping my wife find the best product that will meet her needs. She will not hesitate to loan us the different hearing aids for several weeks with no advanced payment to try to see which one is really the best for my wife. Dr. Gielarowiec is kind and very attentive. I am happy to have her and Anna (Bobolakis), their Patients Care Coordinator, who helps us at the registration desk, to take care of my wife. Anna is so nice that she even called me to let me know when there is a slot of time newly available because another customer has just cancelled to see if my wife would like to come in earlier. I am extremely pleased with the service I received from Dr. Marta Gielarowiec and look forward to a continuing relationship with her. Dr. Gielarowiec is extremely skilled, professional and caring. She helped me select an appropriate make and model of hearing aids and gave me a loaner pair. I "test drove" the loaners for weeks while Dr. G. electronically adjusted and calibrated them to optimize them for my purposes. When I was comfortable and convinced these were the appropriate hearing aids for me, I purchased them and I'm still seeing her on a regular basis to ensure they are calibrated for my needs. She also demoed the app for me, so I have control, if I want it. The classic question: Would you recommend Dr. G. to a friend? Yes. In fact, I have already recommended her to my reluctant husband and he, too, is very happy. I've been to two sessions at Audio Help, and have been favorably impressed with the friendly talent and capabilities among the staff there. One Audiologist, Shanna Hymowitz, Au.D., Director of Audiology, has spent more than an hour with me trying to get my hearing - and my hearing aids - to better understand what she was saying. We made progress and I'm convinced that the audiologist and I will make further progress together. She was reassuring and competent, and although the present hearing aids will probably have to be replaced, I feel we're "on the right track" to give yours truly better hearing than I have right now. Over and above the fine staff, the facility has a new look and I would guess they had given older quarters a facelift recently. My regular audiologists are in California where I live part-time. They referred me to Audio Help when I had this problem while here in NYC. I had an extraordinarily positive experience. Dr. Qualley was absolutely responsive and handled everything I needed. (He really went above and beyond when he assisted me in reporting the wallet I lost on my way to his office.) He gave me his mobile number in case I needed him over the weekend and offered to see me if necessary. Talk about beyond full service! I got a letter in the mail with an invitation for a special event on June 20, 21 and 22 in the Columbus Circle office. It stated that the Video Otoscope test was free. "There is no charge or obligation for these services during this special event." When I called to enquire further, I was told that in order to get a report, they would have to put it through insurance. In other words, this is NOT free!!! Who would go for a test and not get a report? This is a misleading advertisement and should be illegal!!!! Please check before going. I certainly will NOT! read more

It took me forever to even come to terms that I'm getting older and with old age comes hearing loss apparently. So after months of trying to accept it and asking my wife to repeat everything she says, I decided to make an appointment with Audio Help Hearing Center. I went to the 58th street location because it's so close to my work place. They were so nice on the phone, I began to feel like a few hearing aids wouldn't hurt. When I came for my appointment at 3pm (on my lunch break) I wasn't seen until 3:45pm....strike one. Having only 15 minutes left for my break I still thought that the appointment would be beneficial. To make a long story short, Dr.Marta took forever to start the appointment. Took forever to test me. She kept stepping out of the room. (Strike two) She also kept calling the receptionist to ask her how to do things on her computer and to top it off she basically tried to force me to buy 8500.00 hearing aids.(Third strike) She didn't even give me options and told me I need to buy them TODAY!!!
