How does this rate compared to CostCo? They are the number hearing aid provider in the country apparently, and they offer leading edge tech with those CostCo prices... Thanks!

Of all the reports dealing with hearing aids, the scariest is the connection between hearing loss…read moreand dementia. That sounds like just marketing, but several studies confirm the association. With that in mind, how do you deal with hearing loss decades before dementia can settle its claws into your life? The best, if you have hearing loss, is to get yourself a pair of aids in an industry that has progressed in leaps and bounds during the past decade. I almost did not have that luck. I tried three times to kick dementia under the bus by going to several hearing clinics over the past twenty years. I had to return the aids to all of them within a 45-day period to get refunded. Finally in 2026 I found my hearing aids Shangri-la. That wonderful dispenser of hearing aids is Brooklyn Audiology Associates, which has three branches in Brooklyn. The Brooklyn Heights location, a mere 20-minutes' walk from my apartment, is staffed by "hearing aid experts," as they call themselves. I had the luck to be treated by John, in the business for a few decades, and be helped as well by Annie at the reception desk, setting appointments and even giving the aids a thorough cleaning during my visits. The company goes beyond New York State Law by allowing clients to return their just-fitted hearing aids for up to 60 days, 15 days beyond the legal requirement. John gave me the standard audio test. The print-out showed that I had moderate to severe hearing loss. I signed up for hearing aids, which includes one year of service, for periodic check-ups and adjustments. Plus: United Federation of Teachers gives its members and retirees like me up to $4000 in rebates for each three-year period. (Check whether your union has similar goodies.) During my follow-up visits, I had the Phonak aids adjusted three times until now I often fall asleep not realizing that I am still wearing them! The Phonak equipment is not cheap. This is a high-end product that can last up to four years, with a new audiology test determining whether your hearing has diminished with age. I think you will be pleased with the service you get, particularly important because adjustments may be needed especially during the first 60 days. I was fortunate in that my left hearing aid needed an adjustment beyond the 60 days: no problem here. Chances are you will be set up with an RIC, or Receiver-in-Canal, in which the bodies holding the chargeable batteries are behind the ear. John fixed me up with an ITE, or In-The-Ear aids, each of which is a solid, individual unit. I received another audiology test a few days ago, three months after I ordered the aids, and discovered that in most frequencies, my hearing progressed to the 0-20 score. That's the gold standard for normal hearing. Don't annoy your friends by saying "what?" or "can you repeat that?" or pretending that you understand what they are saying only to baffle them with your retorts. Get your hearing fixed and give your pals the opportunity to hear your witty banter

To be honest, my hearing loss and tinnitus felt like it came out of the blue and I am very fortunate to have Dr. Jessica Woodson and her team as a resource. She was able to provide guidance as to how to cope with my condition as well as explore different hearing aid options within my budget. She was very patient with the process of finding the right hearing aids since I went back and forth with different styles and fit. All the other doctors were helpful as well if Dr. Woodson was ever out of the office. They also set very realistic expectations on suggesting how long I use my hearing aids because it is a process that takes time to get used to. I look forward to my regular follow ups since the team is very service oriented and ensures I have everything I need whether my earpieces are cleaned out, I need new batteries, etc. They also keep me posted on any new technology available in case I ever do want to upgrade. The office is very clean (including covid protocols), the staff is friendly, and it's so easy to book my appointments. If you or someone you know has a hearing loss, and is looking for guidance and professional help, please consider Audio Help. It has kept me at ease while transitioning into a life with hearing loss.

She carefully showed him how to wear them, clean them, change the filter, and finally how to charge the hearing aids every night. Our office experience as a first time purchaser of hearing aids was made so convenient with Dr. Gambino's wonderful personality, knowledge of the product, and ability to navigate through all the additional paperwork for us was simply amazing. We are so thankful to Dr. Gambino and we highly recommend her to our friends and family. The Cheung Family

In April 2021, I purchased my first pair of hearing aids (Widex Moment 110 RIC) from audiologist Marta Gielarowiec for $3,650. At the time, I was told these were among the best hearing aids available. As a first-time hearing aid user, I trusted that recommendation. Unfortunately, I continued to struggle with hearing in environments with background noise, such as restaurants, parties, and other social settings. Conversations often became difficult to follow, and I frequently had to ask people to repeat themselves, which was frustrating and embarrassing. About a year after my purchase, Dr. Gielarowiec began encouraging me to replace my hearing aids, explaining that hearing aid technology advances rapidly. While I understand that newer technology becomes available, purchasing another set so soon after spending thousands of dollars was simply not feasible for me. What concerned me most was that the pressure to "upgrade" continued during subsequent visits. I felt that the focus had shifted from helping me get the most out of my current hearing aids to encouraging another sale. My concerns were reinforced when my husband sought to have his hearing aids repaired. We were told they were more than five years old and could not be repaired. However, another audiologist successfully repaired them and informed us that many patients continue to use and service hearing aids that are well over five years old. Based on my experience, I did not feel that my long-term hearing needs were the priority. If you value an audiologist who focuses on maximizing the performance and lifespan of your existing hearing aids before recommending costly replacements, you may wish to explore other options.
