TL;DR - Free parking, Greenway Trail is the longest, is not very strenuous (just a few hills) is very shaded (unless you continue into the meadows, which is beautiful, you should go!), there are boardwalks on the trail which is pretty nice so your shoes don't get as muddy, you can customize trail distance if you don't want to do the whole Greenway (you can take a map at the entrance), Walnut Creek is beautiful and peaceful, and it's dog and family friendly. I saw lots of families on the trail with young kids. So for the details, my bf and I were looking for a place to hike and we tend to go for 2+ mi with some shade along the trail and some body of water, big or small. I browsed the web for info on Asbury Woods trails and saw that they were all short but the pictures seemed really nice and it was within 10 minutes of where I live so I figured I'd give it a shot. While driving here, I noticed there are 2 lots to park, one by the park, and the other is across the street by the main entrance by the nature center. So that's where I parked. We took one of their trail maps by the entrance and decided to go on the Greenway Trail, which we were pleasantly surprised to find is 2.2 mi and crosses Walnut Creek. Along the trail, we realize it is pretty shaded. Checks off all that I look for in a hike! This trail is beautiful!! Once you get to Walnut Creek, you'll realize it is such a gem! There weren't too many people on the trail for a Saturday around noon. The trail takes you across a bridge and into a meadow. Once we got to the meadow, I realize there are multiple places to enter the Woods, but I guess Google Maps took me to the main entrance. (The other way is the barn entrance.) Have fun!!

My 5 / 6 year old, despite being fairly athletic, wasn't able to do at least half of them due to the need to stretch far, be taller, etc. If you go on a super slow open gym time, there's usually plenty of employees working who are willing to help... but I did find that some of them really have no idea how to interact with smaller kids. (one was using phrases like "Gravitational pull" and "momentum" when trying to explain things to a 4 year old... ehhhhhhhh) Also, CAN WE PLEASE GET A CHANGING TABLE HERE? For heaven's sakes, it's the middle of winter and no one wants to change a poopy diaper on the floor of a bathroom. It's a KIDS' GYM. That means parents are bringing their families here --- please be 100% family friendly and put a couple changing tables in the bathrooms. Please please please. I wouldn't pay full price, but with a Groupon it's a nice day out of the house when you're stuck inside during winter. Oh, also, BRING YOUR OWN POWDER. Because sweaty little kid hands + hanging obstacles = blisters and ripped open palms. Take my word on it.

This summer, I volunteered for one week. If you are looking for a camp for your child, please consider Weona. Weona boasts beautiful views and a wide range of activities, including archery, horses, canoeing and kayaking, arts and crafts, and a brand new high ropes course including a zip line. I just tried it this summer and it's a blast. The food is average, but it is improving every year. Cabins are rustic and you will get the outdoor experience. I've listed many amenities, but please know that the best part of this place is the wonderful people who work here. The staff care about the children and the experience, as well as this beautiful place. It also should be noted that Weona isn't all for kids... Weona hosts schools and other organizations, family weekends, etc. If you don't believe anything about my review, know that the motto of Weona is "where only good prevails." The huge rocks are a lot of fun to climb about but beware of rattlesnakes. I was born in the Town of Kinzua which, despite the objections of the Seneca Indian Nation, which had a treaty signed by George Washington covering their sections of land for as long as the grass grew and the sun shined, was broken, and flooded. So, as striking as the view may be, you're looking at yet another despicable act of a broken treaty with an Indian Nation. For the view, 5 Yelp Stars, for its appalling background of perfidy, I'll let you decide. By the way, the lake is commonly known as Lake Perfidy by the indigenous Seneca people.

This is a beautiful area that overlooks the Allegheny Reservoir. You can park near Kinzua Beach and…read morehike up to the Rim Rock Overlook or you can drive up and park at the top and take a short walk to the overlook. There are a lot of large rocks and boulders that make for interesting exploration opportunities. There's a narrow staircase that cuts right through the rocks as part of the trail between the beach and the overlook. Whichever option you choose, the overlook is gorgeous and worth checking out the view!
