Don't seek cosmetic work at this office! I scheduled a full-body medical check-up along with a cosmetic consultation. After Dr. Hooper completed the medical exam, a nurse came in to review some paperwork. As she was leaving, she wished me a good day, at which point I mentioned that I had yet to receive the cosmetic consultation I had paid $100 for. I explained that I had previously received lip fillers and Botox, to which the nurse responded with surprise, insisting that I didn't need them. I reiterated that I had paid for the consultation and would like to proceed with it. Dr. Hooper then returned and similarly stated that I didn't need lip fillers, assuring me that I looked good naturally. I pointed out that I already had lip filler, so my current appearance wasn't entirely natural. I then stated that if they were unwilling to proceed with the cosmetic consultation, I would appreciate a refund. As she was leaving the room, the nurse loudly announced, "She wants her $100 back!" Shortly after, the office manager came in and mentioned she had heard I was dissatisfied. I clarified, "I haven't used those words, but I am confused. If the $100 was for a cosmetic consultation and the doctor refuses to provide the service, shouldn't I receive a refund?" I expressed my frustration that they offered a service yet dismissed my request by saying I didn't need it. Cosmetic procedures are a want, not need. I won't be returning. The world already places enough judgment on us--I certainly don't need my doctor and nurses doing the same. That said, the office manager was kind and professional. read more

Dr Jackson was referred to me when I needed to have a suspicious mole checked. Sure enough I had a small melanoma. We had it removed and all it well now. Highly recommend getting checked if you haven't ever been checked by a professional. I go on a regular basis to make sure that I am clear and skin healthy. Highly recommend Dr Jackson. She made me feel at ease when the mole was discovered and has been very supportive at each visit. Her upbeat personality is always welcomed when I go to these visits. The facility is very well done. Never had any services, I went in for tattoo removal consultation on 1/30/23. They asked for a $100 deposit which, I understood because of people canceling at the last minute. When I arrived they immediately knew that they would not be able to treat the area and said I would get a refund. Two months a week later, still no refund, and I've called about four times. Seeking laser hair removal. Staff was not allowed to disclose a price range over the phone and stated that a consultation was necessary to get pricing. That's a relatively standard (although very annoying) practice when it comes to laser hair removal. What's not normal is that their consultation fee is $100. Cool. So I need to pay $100 to get an idea of how much it would cost to get LHR at AD? No thanks. Will search for an office with a more transparent pricing model. Separately, I will also add that I've been to AD a handful of times since 2014 for standard Derm issues (acne, mole checks, mole removals, etc). Dr. Jackson is hands down the rudest doctor I've ever come across. I've seen her twice on occasions when Hooper (who is absolutely lovely) had a waiting list that was over 6 months. I will not make the mistake of scheduling an appointment with Jackson again. Go to anyone else--including Dr. Google. In my experience, she did not give me the time of day to help me understand what was going on with my skin. She jumped straight to prescribing oral medications and heavy topicals and then was extremely dismissive and rude when I asked about more natural alternatives or life style changes. I rarely write negative reviews because everyone has bad days, but my experience with Jackson was memorably terrible and thinking about it over a year later annoyed me enough to spend 10 minutes writing this review to hopefully save someone else's time and money. Pluses: the office is in an easy location to access, the front desk staff and the aestheticians are very nice, and overall it's a very clean and well maintained facility. Also Hooper really is lovely and I've always felt like she very knowledgeable. If it was easier to get appointments with her, I would've kept her as my primary dermatologist. As is, I still occasionally seek appointments with her for cosmetic procedures because I think she's very good and I trust her. read more

I can't lie and say I actually *like* going to this office, but I also don't *like* going to any health care professional, so there's that. I've been here for two different reasons: scary mole issue (after hearing about yet another person dropping dead from some incurable skin cancer... My magnifying glass and thousand watt bulb weren't really getting me anywhere) and for IPL (ie, laser torture). Dr. Jackson checked out my mole. She is very fast talking as others mention (and this is coming from a somewhat fast talking New Yorker), but I also appreciate the damn speediness of the entire procedure. Assessment-explanation- biopsy-bang, you're done. A week later, I received the good news and that was that. Before she whisked herself out the door, I asked about lasers for skin discoloration (an infuriating red dot that wouldn't go away) and she made sure to shut the door, listen and suggest that I get an assessment on another appointment. The assessment is free. I can't say that it was terribly thorough, however. It was done by an aesthetician and it was more about me asking questions than an assessment. I had one done last year elsewhere and really walked out of there feeling like they looked me over and made sound suggestions. I came back for IPL, as suggested by Dr. Jackson. WARNING: this is more painful than a tattoo and I am not kidding (in case you haven't noticed, I have a lot of tattoos). I once heard that they are making improvements with IPL so that it's less like a cigarette burn combined with being pummeled with rubber bands, but no such luck here. I really need follow up, but I'm dreading it. Not their fault. Just the way it is. Luckily it was pretty quick. And the redness has definitely improved. I had an appointment set for tomorrow back a couple months ago -- and got a message today that if I don't send in the required paperwork ahead of my appointment time, they will cancel my appoint (and charge me $50). In my 3 or 4 calls back and forth, I never once got an employee who sounded professional, or warm and fuzzy, happy to have me as a new patient. I recently moved to New Orleans, from Los Angeles, and I asked around to see wich dermatologist to go see and got referred to Audubon Dermatology. I have to say, if this is your best place, that's very sad. Even reading the comments on this place has me frowning. "The people are friendly" Who cares? I want to know i'm going somewhere where the treatments and the knowledge of the doctors is superior. First of all I waited 45 minutes for my appointment, and that is unacceptable. Second, I barely saw the dermatologist, it could have been anyone seriously, because she didn't even say her name but her hands were all over my face. I later found out that I just "met" Dr Hooper. Very rude and untaught lady. The esthetician was very helpful, I have to say, and was the only one there for my appointment. I don't see the point of paying for a dermatologist if the cares are given solely by the esthetician. Third, I ask for a chemical peel, and I don't know what kind of scam product they put on my face but that "peel" had no effect whatsoever. If I want to follow the trend of comments on this page well.... The staff was friendly and ask me if I wanted to have some water for my 45 minutes wait and the place was very clean and nicely decorated! read more

It's a bummer having to wait an hour to see a doctor when you have an appointment, but Dr. Hooper makes up for it. She's quick. I had a baby skin tag make its way out on my eyelid. She could tell that I was apprehensive about numbing it with a needle and cutting etc. So she got it out very quickly and painlessly without any needles. Was definitely worth the wait not to have a needle in your eye! I haven't been to see her in two or three years and man are her eyelashes longer! I believe she offers Latisse. Definitely something to look into by the looks of her lashes! Parking sucks because the Touro doctors don't validate in the parking garage, but I usually find a spot on Louisiana. read more

I came here for mid-'30s-adult-onset, cystic acne that came out of nowhere (I never had much acne as a teen) and wouldn't go away. Imagine 1/2-marble-size pimples that never penetrated the skin. (Except for those that did penetrate the skin, which were even worse.) After suffering with it about 2 years, I went to a dermatologist here in LA who didn't seem to care and gave me a bunch of prescription-strength benzoyl peroxide, that dried my skin and left me with (guess what?) pimples on top of the dried skin. I tried Effeclar-K (some success), salicylic acid pads like Clearasil (no real success), and even a sulfur mask, all to no avail. I came here on a recommendation from my mother, when I was home in New Orleans for Christmas. Dr. Hooper recommended Green Cream and a Gly-Derm wash. The Green Cream isn't super-cheap (at the time $50 or so seemed like a lot), but it lasted about 3 months using it just at night, and the Gly-Derm wasn't very pricey (about $15) and also lasted awhile. To my amazement, my acne cleared up in about 4 months and has never returned. That was around 7 years ago, and now I just use the Green GEL, and don't really need the Gly-Derm anymore. (In fact, I don't even need the Green Gel for the acne; I use it now because it makes my skin look better.) In a nice "bonus" postscript to this story, when I started dating my girlfriend about a year ago, she'd been suffering with bad acne for about a decade. I suggested the same regimen that Dr. Hooper prescribed for me, and a year later her complexion has improved a lot, and she'll really happy about it. If you have acne, try this solution! Garbage. I went to them having serious rashes. Dr. Jackson did not even examine my skin. But wanted to prescribe me an expensive cream for blackheads. Ended up at another dermatologists. Turns out I have a life threatening sun allergy, solar urticaria (hives) and dermatographism (skin writing) another hive condition. If they had taken the time to examine or even look at my skin they would have known the diagnosis. I am just glad I didn't go into anaphylactic shock and die before finding out what was wrong. read more

I never write a bad review but this practice really needs to take a deep down look at the manner in which they interact with their clientele. After having a procedure and then experiencing a concerning adverse reaction, I never heard the words "How do you feel", " We are sorry this has happened to you" or any other empathic or helpful conversation. Finally agreeing to see Sarah Jackson after the fact, I walked away after having her change our agreed upon ( her choice ) time without bothering to let me know. It would be 40 minutes later than agreed. Altogether a disappointing experience especially after paying lots of money. I had been there in the past and knew better but did not listen to my better judgement. Read all the reviews, it's telling. There are far better practices with better employees. read more

I gave this place many chances but no more. Multiple problems. Dr Haydel is very nice, but rushes in and is out faster than any Dr I've seen. Its very stressful. You don't have time to discuss anything. No chance to ask questions about what could be a long term, or expensive, or disfiguring procedure. The staff is NOT knowledgeable. Its just awful, They all seem to be 'on the job training', and trained to expedite people in and out.They can't answer any medical questions or they answer wrong. There is ONE RN on the staff who does something else there. Why aren't Drs offices following the same laws that hospitals do in the staff they employ? Only nurses know the 'why's' behind the things being done, sterile technique, about medications, etc, etc. Scary to think of who is drawing up your medicine or assisting her. I needed a prescription sunscreen, was told to get it at the front desk (the receptionists gives it to you!). No instructions at all. Found out much later the sun protection I thought I was getting, I was not because it was the wrong kind. More sun damage thanks to that. A huge complaint is that the place is not clean in my opinion, as I have seen the same black areas of hand prints and dirt and grime on the white bathroom doors and other doors for a few years. I made an appt. 2 months ago after I specifically asked if they took my insurance. I provided them with my group and member ID. I was told that I would receive a new patient packet via email to expedite the visit. I called and left a voicemail that I didn't receive it and never received a call back. I arrived 30 minutes early for my appt. to fill out the information. I waited for another hour and finally a nurse called me up to the window to inform me that they didn't takes insurance! I was told that I had to leave basically. I took time off of work for this and just felt like my time wasn't respected. I just moved to New Orleans and was looking for a new dermatologists office. I take my skin care pretty seriously, and spend accordingly. The second time I stopped in the office to purchase products (office is very nice and well appointed) was the day before Thanksgiving. At that time, I purchased over $220 of products. The next day I received and email for the Black Friday sale at 30% off!! I was upset that no one in the office bothered to tell me there would be a Black Friday sale. I did send an email to the office stating that I was upset and was considering going elsewhere for my skin care needs and received NO reply. I have not seen the doctors, and the office is very nice with easy parking, but this experience left a very sour taste in my mouth and I won't be going back. read more

I'm fairly new to the area and I've visited different offices along the east coast for laser treatments since 2004. I relocated to the area for work and chose this office because they have the yag laser. My first visit was pretty pleasant. Yet I cannot say the same for my second and very last visit. If you decide to go always confirm pricing before treatment. During my first visit I was charged $100. During my second treatment I was charged $200 for the exact same service. I was not impressed with the tech who provided treatment, so ask for someone who is truly experienced. At one point I asked her to stop and wanted a different tech. I'd rather travel 12 hours away to get good treatment with fair pricing than to return here in the future. The only reason I gave it 2 stars is because my very first visit was pretty pleasant. Also I was told to wear eyewear that the tech did not wipe down and had direct contact with my eyelids vs wearing the usual big goggles. She declined me the option to wear the goggles. In my past experience all eyewear should be wiped down with alcohol and the eyewear had not been sanitized. Again, I'll drive 12 hours to my old dermatology office before I go back to this place. The staff is very friendly. I haven't waited any more than 5 minutes to be seen, even when I'm early. After talking with Dr. Hooper, I decided to give injectable fillers and Botox a try. I was extremely nervous about pain and possible negative outcomes, but Dr. Hooper and her assistants were very accommodating in that regard. I only felt two of the needle pokes, but they weren't painful - less than a mosquito bite. I was very happy when I left as it was a very positive experience. Days later, when I started to see results, I was even more thrilled! I looked rested and alert. People at work even made comments to the effect of my appearing to be refreshed - and no, they had no idea. The result is completely natural! My forehead didn't freeze, I have no permanent expressions on my face and I don't look "plastic" like the facelift junkies. I was also given a really amazing product to address other skin concerns and it is working like a charm. These people know their stuff! A word of caution: If you are looking for a leisurely visit and lots of chat time, then you may be disappointed. This is a fast-paced clinic with lots of patients. If you are more focused on results, however, then you won't mind the hustle and bustle. I certainly don't mind the fast pace as I have a very busy lifestyle and time is a precious commodity. I appreciate the speed, efficiency and courtesy, but most of all I am grateful for the overall positive experience and amazing results! read more
