The Falcons play pick up every Monday, Wednesday (6pm), and Saturday (10am) in Fairmount Park and tonight was my reintiation. It's a co-ed group of gay-focused but ally-friendly folks and all you have to bring is a pair of cleats and your warpaint.

Pros: The gym has a LARGE amount of amenities. There are two basketball courts (which are also used for pickleball), an indoor lap pool with hot tubs, an outdoor swimming area with slides (at an extra charge). There are classes, a ton of different machines for both cardio and lifting, and a really clean and upscale atmosphere. People tend to mind their own business and the staff have on average been helpful, at least in my experience. There is also a kids "daycare" if that's what you call it. A lot of parents will use this so they can have time to work out and actually work. There's a little area right next to the cafe that has tables and outlets. I see a lot of people with MacBooks doing work. They probably work remotely. Who knows. Cons: The price point for this gym is definitely the highest of them all coming in at $220.00 a month per person. IF you are married or you can prove cohabitation, you can add an additional person on your account for around $100 a month. This gym definitely has a crowd that is very gymcentric. This isn't a bad thing. But some people who are looking for a more chill or less intimidating atmosphere may think twice. I was one of these people until I decided to just not care. But that's easier said than done. The gym can be exceptionally crowded at peak hours. So if you plan on going daily I'd do my very best to avoid late afternoons on weekdays and nights on weekends. I was hoping the bathroom situation would be a little better but, there seems to be 2 bathrooms for ladies and men of course (from what I've seen). And with the amount of people there sometimes, it can be a little bit hectic. The locker room is fine and the showers are just average. At the price point of $220.00 I was expecting some futuristic pod shower than also does your taxes but, we all can't have what we want. The outside swimming area is an additional monthly charge, by the way. Conclusion: So take it or leave it. The price point is HIGH, but there are a lot more amenities and options for machines than any other gym out there. Is that justified? I don't really know. So three stars. Until they have a robot that does my taxes, then it might go to 4.

Laurel location does not have pickleball courts. Only a basketball court with lines everywhere and rolling nets. Luckily I was able to stop at the Princeton location after work, if not for that I probably would've cancelled right away. Why does this location not have real pickleball courts and hardly any open play times?? 2. The gym is mediocre at best. Half of the space is dedicated for their strength training classes, so at busy hours, good luck finding a rack, especially one with a mirror in front of it. 3. They also don't have a turf area, or any sort of soft surface. It is all hardwood. 4. Half of the machines are very old, especially the cable machines Also, their business tactics are shady in general. When going to sign up online, my only option for membership was "the signature" so I assumed that is all they had. Turns out after 5 months I realized they have a standard membership that is slightly cheaper, but is not marketed anyhwere because they want you to pay up for the signature. So I was paying around $414 a month for x2 people to get subpar basically everything.

I've done Coed softball, dodgeball, and bowling leagues, all of which were a casual level of competitiveness. Great for New-to-Towners - When I first started, it was at a time when I'd moved to the city and knew few enough people, so I signed up as a free agent in dodgeball, which launched me into a decent set of Thursday night drinking friends; I continued to play with them for 2 more seasons. This was a fantastic sport, with decent and fair refs, and the 12th street gym staff was always super friendly to us. Also super conviniently located near Irish pub where we get PSN drink specials! Great for groups - My second year in town, I found out some work buddies had a softball team going, and so I joined up with them, and lo and behold, I now had Sunday afternoon drinking friends! I always got a crack out of our ump, who was admittedly only half-interested in regulating our games, but he was a good sport (he played catcher for us in some low-attendance situations) and had enough stubborness to satisfy my desires in an ump (it's not a position for the weak of character). Great for couples - I did the bowling league as a weekly double-date type of deal with another couple. Unfortunately, that league went til about 10pm, and there was no drinking afterward. PSYCHE! There's totally drink service at your lane, and bowling is a great sport for having a few beers. Lucky Strikes is a fine place to bowl; though I don't think I'd frequent there of my own accord, it made for a good night out for the duration of the season. In the end, this catered to exactly what i was looking for - namely an excuse to get out of my apartment, do just enough athletic activity to trick myself into thinking I was being fit (and at a pretty reasonable price)... and, most importantly, going out for drinks afterward.

A bit of a qualm is the outdoor seems to basically be rain or shine and we've played in pouring rain the last couple weeks. Sort of fun, but sort of crappy at the same time. Anyway, overall things seem pretty good and we'll see how it goes!

I didn't do anything huge bc I only had the place for half hour before the party started, but for what I did, my friends and family raved about it. I rented the back two thirds of the room. The middle section was where the fake fire place was at and where his gifts were being kept during the duration of the party. The back third was facing towards a cemetary. Like the other reviewer stated, it's not really creepy. It's actually really nice. The window was huge and I'm sure you could have put up some sort of curtains if you didn't want to see it, but I liked the fact that my guests were able to sit by the window. The only reason why they didn't get 5 stars...bc they lost my room setup sheet that I submitted when I made my final payment and when I did make my final payment, the person couldn't find my original contract. UGH!! Made me very nervous when I received a phone call the day before my event informing me that they didn't have my floor plan. I was kinda nervous they would cancel my event cause I thought they also didn't get my last payment. They need a better filing system. I think I might have gotten them some new clients! :-) Some of my friends liked it so much, they picked up the renting pamplet.

Adults find a place to get a GED or ESL tutoring at a very low cost and individuals struggling with addiction find the support they need. Every Saturday 50 seniors enjoy a free hot meal, music programs and companionship. Sports leagues fill the gym night after night and many neighbors find an affordable venue to host a party. The staff keeps the place looking great and are welcoming to all who enter. This is a place where the community comes together like no other venue in the area.

The RPS City League is one of the best things to hit Philadelphia in a long time. It brings out a truly varied assortment of competitors, from devoted regulars to intrigued newbies. Everyone's cool, there's no one causing trouble. It's all about playing RPS, drinking PBR (or whatever your beverage of choice) and having a good time. Oh yeah, and winning that $1,000 City League Championship.

You know the drill--rock crushes scissors, scissors cuts paper, and paper covers rock. The people who show up to play every week are some of the biggest bunch of characters you will ever meet. The league typically runs from April to June, capping off with a RPS City League Championship to crown the ultimate RPS champ. In the Fall, the RPS Keystone Classic is held usually a week before the RPS World Championships in Toronto, Canada. Check the RPS City League website and go to an event the next time you have a chance. Bring a bunch of friends and you will have a blast. Who knew that people actually take RPS seriously? As a bonus, the league is sponsored by Pabst Blue Ribbon for those who dig cheap $2 cans of beer.

The league keeps fun stats and sends them out regularly. 3. Run effectively - the umpires are consistent and the league works hard to keep the field in good playing shape. 4. Run equitably - the league keeps track of players and prevents teams from substituting in ringers in the playoffs. Most of the teams are within reasonable playing level of each other which makes for fun games. Definitely join PALs. You won't regret it.
