    McLaughlin-Norcross Memorial Dell & Amphitheater

Haddon Lake park is bounded by the towns of Haddon Heights, Audubon and Mount Ephraim. People visit this park to go jogging, walking, take the kids to the playground, have a picnic, etc. They also allow fishing (trout stocked, need license). The lake is shallow/has no current but the water doesn't appear to be stagnant. I believe bass & sunfish is also to be found but I can't confirm. I have seen quite a few turtles in the lake. It's a failry small park, I usually enter the park off of E Lake Drive in Audubon. I use it to go jogging. You can ride a bike but it is best for pedestrian traffic. Most of the path is is paved, less than 2 miles worth. Quite often I run into the 'three women chatting and monopolizing the entire path without any regard for the single file courtesy' syndrome.......... "Move b*itch, get out the way" comes to mind. The park also has a small stretch of wooded 'cross country trail' that is nicely shaded from the heat in the summer. From the Audubon side you can choose to cross over Kings Highway & continue to Station Avenue. Along the way you will come across the 'McLaughlin-Norcross Memorial Dell & Amphitheater'. This amphitheater often hosts folk bands, charity/kids events..... very family oriented. You will also see people practicing Tai-Chi at the amphitheater. You will also come across the 'Multi-War Honor Roll' stone memorial. Throughout the park I have noticed markers that appear to signify a Disc Golf course but I don't know if it is active. Overall, I like this park for jogging since it is so close to my home.

    Quaks! Enjoying the morning walk...

Knight's Park is an excellent place for a daily walk, jog, or run, and it consistently feels safe and comfortable to spend time in. It is the kind of space that naturally invites you to slow down and just move a little, whether that means a casual stroll or a more focused workout. Being located right across from a high school adds a familiar, lived-in neighborhood feel. It also brings back personal memories; I used to spend a lot of time here growing up around 8 or 9 years old, either alone or with a friend, just passing time and enjoying the space without much thought. Even now, I still get the occasional urge to go back for a walk, even though I live closer to other parks. That says a lot about how comfortable and pleasant the environment is. It also works surprisingly well for casual social settings, including a low-pressure first date walk where the focus is just conversation and being outside rather than anything overly structured. It is simply a dependable, enjoyable local park that consistently delivers a good experience.

There's a great playground for the kids too. If you happen to stop by during a little league game, stop by the snack stand for a great burger or breakfast Sammie.

Intro to Rock Climbing with Valley to Summit on September 18, 2022…read more This was my second trip to Chickies Rock with VTS and it was wonderful! There were only 5 of us, so plenty of time to climb. Our Guide, Bob, was so patient, engaged and informative. I learned a lot of great things that I had not known before about clothing, ropes and technique. Bob was so patient with me and was there with his " green pointer" to help me over the tough spots. You should know that I am 74 years old and tho I have climbed indoors for a few years, my stamina was not that of the youngsters who were there! Nonetheless, it was a great time! I highly recommend Valley to Summit, this being my 3 rd trip with them. They Rock!

We were scheduled to do a 1/2 day ice hike at Ricketts Glen. I had spoken to the owner Dave and…read morelet him know of my disabilities. He asked a few questions, then determined that it should be OK for me to go on the hike. Shortly before the hike we received an email from Dave saying that because of the warm weather the trip would not have as much ice as it normally does. He offered to reschedule or refund our money if we wanted, but also said we could go if we wanted. We wanted. When I got there Dave and the guides were fantastic. Very personable. They were helpful but without being intrusive. One of them carried one of my forearm canes in his backpack in case I needed it. (This was to have one hand free for the ice axe.) The hike was great. At the end of the hike I asked one of the guides if he thought I could do the repelling they offer... he conferred with the owner and the lead repeller guide, and they agreed that I would be allowed to do that in the Spring. I highly recommend Valley to Summit for a great time. I look forward to a full day ice hike in February.
