Considering all the stress that day-to-day life can bring, work-related or otherwise, it can be hard to slow down and take a breath on your own. Counting/breathing exercises or meditation tracks can be helpful at times, but in-person human guidance is something that can never truly be replaced. Megan's tone and attitude in our session was warm with concern, care, and attentive presence. Even in a group setting, where I'm normally prone to social anxiety and "Am I doing this right?" introspection, I felt myself ease into a level of relaxation and comfort. Visiting her required less than an hour of my day; it was time that I was happy to give, and time that she was more than ready to use for transforming my negative thoughts/anxieties into positive and in-the-moment reflections. I showed up dreading the humdrum activities of tomorrow, but I left enjoying the air in my lungs, feeling the energy in my body, and savoring even the smallest details of an average day's routine. The short and sweet of it all: I'd definitely recommend her as guide to mindfulness and mental relaxation!

I would sum up MIke's commitment to emotional health in three words: dedicated, experienced, and down to earth. I have been seeing Mike for about 2 years. I have been diagnosed bipolar and maintain a relationship with a counselor on a regular basis. Thankfully, I crossed paths with Mike and continue to see him on an as needed basis. He is sincere in his interests to serve you as his patient. He offers appointments on occasion that are outside his normal schedule. Most importantly, he offered assistance to my family and a family member that surpassed any expectation I would have ever had. I texted him and he read between the lines. I was able to phone him and discuss my concerns. His dedication and reaction to my situation in his approximate words, "I would not have wanted you to schedule an appointment and have waited to discuss this then. Of course I don't mind the call." I just can't say enough about his genuine interest to help his patients.

Michael’s approach is grounded, relational, and practical. The work is not about blame or quick fixes. It is about helping people better understand themselves and each other, repair trust when possible, and create meaningful change in daily life. I had been looking for a psychiatrist who specialized in this particular field since it is something I struggled with for a while. When doing my research I came across Dr. Walker and found out he had a similar educational background as myself as well as living with ADHD too. Making an appointment was extremely easy. I sent an email and received a response from their office admin, Kathleen. The office is a little different than normal doctor offices. There are no on site admins; this is to help keep costs reduced. All communication is through email/phone regarding scheduling. Louisville ADHD does not take any type of insurance but you can file claims on your own if you have out of network coverage. The waiting area has a good deal of information regarding ADD/ADHD. It is very clean and relaxing. There is an entrance to the waiting room and the exit is from Dr. Walker's office. This way the patients never run into each other and I really appreciate that consideration for privacy. Appointments usually last 50 min and can run around $150 for the initial appointment and $300 for the following. I know what you are probably thinking....this is so much money...BUT...hear me out. I've been a patient since November and in less than a month I have had tremendous improvements with my ability to focus both using therapy and medication. I would highly recommend Dr. Walker if you are searching for a psychiatrists who specializes in this field. He genuinely cares about his patients and their progress by offering real therapy and not just medication. Excellent, excellent service, experience, and knowledge!

The team is very good about setting expectations and communicating in advance. For example, about varied hours around holidays. They know how to work with folks that have ADHD and the process is smooth and easy to work with. In the last 4 months working with Dr Walker I have managed to complete two sections of a basement remodel, we can park in the garage for the first time since we moved in, and I have lost almost 25 lbs. These improvements are directly related to having the proper medication and guidance of this staff. Thank you!
