I have a great time in Matty's class it's always fun and I feel it the next day. And it's easy for a non member to experience.

I really should have paid more attention to the bad reviews here…read more I moved back to the CBD area for 4 months and sent Prime Fitness a note asking if I could do a temporary membership. They said sure (see picture). I am right next to the St. Charles location, but had to go up to Poydras to meet them today. There I find out that the quote I was given isn't what they're going to charge. I'm not only going to be charged the $150 termination fee (please see picture for the in writing waiving of that fee) I'm also going to be charged $663 instead of $544. This is for LESS THAN 4 MONTHS! Holy cow. On top of that, Sacha had an incredibly arrogant attitude, kept accusing me of telling her I only wanted 3 months, not 3 months and less than 3 weeks (as if that accounts for a ~$300 difference) and didn't care that she put in writing that there was no $150 termination fee. Cool gym, interesting equipment, but horrible ownership and dishonest business practices. Obviously, I am not a member there...but I did go to another gym that was close...and paid about as much for 4 months as Prime Fitness wanted to upcharge me. It was less than half the price and 1/3 of the attitude.

They have a bar, a library, pool, ballroom, racketball, pickle ball court, and a half court basketball set up. On of the gym areas with the track above as originally a full court basketball area. That is my one complaint, for if that was still there this would be the best gym I've ever been to. Rumor has it the Lakers once scrimmage there. They have a cold plunge ice bath, I also wish they had a real cold dip, like they do at Oshner Harahan. The sauna is huge, and so is the steam room. Marble showers, this place is truly unique. It takes a while to get a hang of where everything is, there's so many different places to work out. Classes are rad, I've done hard body and boot camp so far lead by Tony. Who is this man BTW. Me and my wife pay 70 bucks each, which is a phenomenal deal! I'm gonna spend all summer here. Highly recommend this establishment!

5 Stars "This place is like stepping into a fitness time…read moremachine -- in the BEST way!" I loved working out here! The New Orleans Athletic Club isn't just a gym -- it's a whole vibe. From the second you walk in, it feels like old-school charm meets modern-day motivation. The building itself is gorgeous -- think chandeliers, brick walls, and history dripping from every dumbbell. The weight room? Massive. The cardio section? Plenty of options. The pool? Stunning and feels like something Gatsby would've done laps in. And don't even get me started on the boxing ring -- I half-expected to see Rocky training in the corner. There's even a Turkish bath. Yes, a Turkish bath -- where else are you gonna find that? The people were super friendly, and there was this kind of unspoken camaraderie in the air -- everyone's working hard but also vibing with the beauty of the space. I got a killer workout and a mini history tour all in one. If you're in New Orleans and want to sweat in style -- this is the spot. 10/10 will be back (probably sore but smiling).

JCC Aqua Fit program has been declining for months. Suggestions by members to increase classes,…read moreupgrade equipment and replace instructors are ignored. Since the hiring of a new CEO a couple of months ago, several aqua fit classes have been canceled so the pool can be used for swim lessons for the child care center and summer camps. This has especially impacted the seniors who joined the JCC specifically for the low impact benefits of water aerobics. Since summer camps, swim lessons and pool parties generate significant income, It seems that the financial bottom line is more important than addressing membership in the "community center." Too bad, the aqua fit program affects at least 50 members who are the active adults who use the facility daily. Do not join for the aqua program right now. Hopefully we will be heard in the future and classes will be restored.

Re: COVID-19 operations and safety practices…read more I gotta slow clap for y'all because I am loving the new implementation of the appointments online and how serious the JCC is taking COVID-19. Members of JCC Uptown are able to book appointments up to three days in advance for one hour block sessions. Everyone has to wear a mask upon entry and get your temperature checked. Per their constant email communications all members must arrive ready to workout (lockers are only available for bathrooms so no showers or storage purposes) and bring in your own towel and water bottle. They allow no more than 7 people at a time in the cardio room and around 8/9 in the weights room. Within the cardio room every other machine is shut down to practice social distancing. You'll also find plenty of marked disinfected and used cleaning sprays so you can wipe your machine before and after. Their team also cleans the machines CONSTANTLY. Like I seriously would get off the cardio machine wipe it down, just to then see them wipe it down again themselves. I feel safe coming here and appreciate there isn't a crazy occupancy capacity happening right now. TAKE MY MONIES. *Just know you will have to sign a waiver the first time you initially go during COVID-19, because liability and lawsuits ya know...

When I came through the door I had the nicest welcome from her and she even joined the class and lent me her belt. Class was full and Gregory was awesome in navigating with everyone. So I had heard very mixed things about this organization over the years. A trainer I greatly…read morerespect told me that they are cult like and if you're not 100% in, you're not in it all. They advertised a six week shape up plan, I spoke to the trainer Kerry over the phone and basically told him what I'm about, not really a joiner, kind of like to do my work and get out of there, in reasonable shape would like to be in better shape for my wedding in December. I was told that I could come in and get measured and then go to my first class which was supposed to be tonight, as they were closed for the holiday, typically it would be Monday Wednesday and Friday for six weeks. I was also told that I could come in and get measured anytime. A six week challenge sounded good, the price was reasonable $350, And I felt like they were worth a shot. I also asked that after three months of self-imposed Covid isolation, I really didn't want to know my weight or fat content and I would be happy to just know how much I lost at the end. On the phone, he agreed, but now the challenger was full, he was not willing to work with me. He also said they would email me paperwork to complete which never arrived. I was so wrong to give this place a chance, I always give people the benefit of the doubt. After just getting back from my future father-in-law's funeral in South Carolina which ate up the last week and a half of my time. I showed up to be measured, not work out, this morning, And was told they were completely full. And I reminded him of the phone call which he then I guess realized he had taken. Now granted there was a class going on I had no idea there was going to be one in progress and I was willing to wait until the class was over or come back later, for the five minutes that he would measure me and put me on the scale. This was even after he told me that they were not at my beck and call (pretty rude) and that they had other paying clients, which of course I realize. I offered to come back at a more convenient time this afternoon. I should have walked out then, this man was acting like a jerk, not a professional. My advice is unless you really want to be part of a fitness community and be there all the time, you may want to look elsewhere. I am not a 'social joiner' as I have a demanding life that requires my full attention. I have enough friends, what I needed was a trainer and maybe some accountability. Kerry then said this wouldn't be a good fit and he didn't suggest that I take part in the class. I asked him if that meant he would not sign me up and he said yes. Who needs this kind of aggravation and by the way they were working out without masks indoors. That alone should have been a red flag. No thanks, more trainers in Nola who want to work.
