When I asked if you accepted credit cards, I was told the card would have to be verified by contacting the credit card company. I asked if this was done for everyone, and I was told yes. However, after reading other reviews and the owner's responses, it seems different customers are given different explanations of the verification process, which makes the policy seem inconsistent. Honestly, I only bought a $5 pair of earrings with cash, but I had planned on coming back to shop for more. Instead, I left wondering: at what purchase amount does this verification happen? Is it for every credit card transaction, or only certain customers? I wasn't expecting a simple question about payment methods to turn into a discussion about verifying my identity. The whole interaction left me feeling unwelcome, and I hope whatever policy is in place is applied consistently to every customer.

I do find these places a bit hard to shop in as everything is locked up so it becomes overstimulating to remember what you want, go all the way up to the front, ask for help, go back and show the item. Also they do have bathrooms in the very back wall. This is more of a walk and observe kind of thrift store consignment place over my actual interest in buying anything. I went to farmers markets and grocery stores everywhere and either they were sold out or they just didn't carry them. Somehow, I came across mindful mushrooms. I emailed them letting them know what I was looking for and lucky me- they were here in El Cajon! Only 5 minutes from my house. I stopped by today and Christina and Ivo helped me out. They showed me their treasure chest of mushrooms and explained all the benefits of each one. What they also have are tinctures, jerky, capsules, salt and dried mushrooms. Now I don't know everything about mushrooms and I don't need to, because these guys know everything and anything. This is a gold mine of mushrooms. If you're searching for something, I highly recommend asking these guys. They go above and beyond to make it happen.

It was so helpful. My body felt so much better. Plus, I ate the fermented garlic which further strengthened my immune system. Alive Ferments is a cut above the rest: great energy and powerful foods!
