once again I have to give a bad review, because this horrible hospital still a bad hospital, and the reason she went there was because it's the closest hospital, my granddaughter was admitted at this hospital, when she was discharged one the nurses give her a wrong medication, my daughter keeps calling after spending so much money in medication that she doesn't even need it and was the wrong one, and the nurse didn't know what the hell she was doing, wtf you giving patients the wrong medicine that's how you can kill some one, because you don't check or read the messages from the doctors, before giving a prescription, and I said it again, I don't know why this hospital still open, back in the days was a good hospital and for the past 10 years has become the worst one in Lorain Ohio, and must of the people giving good reviews they work for this hospital to make it look that it's a good hospital , and I'm not saying all the doctors or nurses are bad, but the majority of them need to go back to school and learn to have love and compassion for the patients, not have bad attitudes and be so rude, and must of the them just there for their paycheck. The physicians at mercy have been trying to figure out my back pain and have had no success so I have lost all confidence in this medical organization. All I have is massive bills and no answers. It's a shame I have to give them such a low review because the doctors are actually quite good. The problem is with scheduling I kid you not we have had problems with every single appointment we have ever scheduled with them in Orthopedics. And that is about ten appointments. My mother had 2 surgeries and messed up every SINGLE appointment time. Had the doc tell me to my face when her surgery was, then they called and said no, its this time and day. Everytime we log on, the appointment times have changed. I swear I've never seen anything like it and it makes me want to run from this place. read more

Unimpressed after some recent visits. My grandmother was admitted for some pneumonia, and loss of oxygen caused her to get a little fuzzy. The doctor in the ICU kept insisting she had dementia even though the 10+ people in my family that were visiting her knew she was sharp as a tack. Furthermore, while I was visiting with her, the doctor came in and was giving us updates on her status and was divulging very negative information about her, right in front of her. While she wasn't able to talk due to the tubes going down her throat, she was more than capable of hearing. It was VERY unprofessional how they did that. Only giving this three stars because since she was moved into a more longterm bed for inpatient and rehab she's had a much more positive experience. ICU needs to get it together. read more

I had an okay experience at first in the ErR where everyone was helpful and very caring until I got to the fourth floor where the nurses were sleeping at their stations and not very helpful i could had went downstairs and no one knew I was gone for 30 min I didn't feel safe for some reason. the whole staff is under 30 and I didn't trust it. no experience needed to work for Mercy they out here taking lives! read more

Let me tell you I used to like this hospital a lot more in the past. The doctors, nurses and staff are so friendly, happy to help and knowledgeable. The problem I have now is the follow up on referrals. They tell you wait three days for them to process a referral, sometimes you do not receive call backs at all. Lately they've been pretty expensive as well. I find myself having to call and get my own quotes before any procedure. This may be happening with every hospital system now, I can't believe it's become our norm. I do like MyChart, the ability to have all your health information under one umbrella (in my APP). That's helped when I've visited doctors that are not part of their system. You can even give a doctor the ability to see your clinical information for a short duration of time. What I regret the most is bragging about this hospital and my husband taking my advice. Afterwards seeing how underwhelmed he's been. One constant though DR's, Nurses and Staff are top notch. I'm just asking the hospital to please revisit their referral services and even more being fair with their billing. Maybe running an in area comparison or analysis. read more

Had my first baby at Mercy in August. Fantastic experience. The labor and delivery nurses were all beautiful and loving people, who were attentive, supportive, and skillful throughout the process. Mercy also has fantastic lactation consultants, who assisted us through a rough breastfeeding start, including two follow-ups after discharge. Hope I can return to Mercy for future babies! read more

Dr. Acun did a surgery on me was supposed to take my appendix instead to my overy. Then continued lying to me about what he did telling me I was unique case. Not surprising that this hospital only has 2 stars! That is actually generous! The lack of communication is ridiculous! Not only do they not talk to you about what is going on with your loved one that is in the ER, they don't listen when you, who knows your loved one better than anybody, tries to tell them something about them, & the ER is dirty (the cot had blood on it from the last patient, there was garbage on the floor & the floor was filthy)! My sister was sent home with 5 broken ribs & possible pneumonia or blood clot (they didn't know which one she had) & a major bowel blockage & the only thing we were told about was the bowel blockage! I'm pretty sure the only reason why we were told about that is because they wanted to stuff her with laxatives while she was there! She wasn't treated for anything else! If you can avoid Mercy Hospital then do! read more

My Father in Law was brought to the hospital in grim condition. He was too unstable to go to his normal hospital in Avon. He had aspirated vomit and the excellent emergency room staff at Mercy saved his life! He was already in fragile condition from multiple critical health risks but he was stabilized with great agility. He went from needing 6 L of oxygen to none at all in about 6 hours. And after being admitted, he received the proper care to heal and not get any more bed sores. That is a big win for him because he got MANY and much worse ones at Cleveland Clinic Avon during a week's stay 2 years ago. He had none from being at Mercy and they were careful about protecting his vulnerable areas. I've heard bad things about Mercy hospital but now I would actually prefer to take him here from now on instead of Cleveland Clinic. read more

People do yourselves a favor, and stay away from Dr. Amar Mutnal, he's an orthopedic surgeon.. this nonchalant, poor excuse of a provider! He simply believes that his job begins, and ends with cutting on people.. every visit prior to the procedure that's all he would ask is "do you want to have surgery?" "Do you want to have surgery?" He is the most uncompassionate provider that I have ever dealt with. He performed my bicep tenotomy on my right shoulder on July 13th 2023 at this hospital. I saw him 3 weeks after for my first follow-up with arm in a sling; in excruciating pain! He came in the room for 1 minute, and then proceeded to go to another patient's room.. then came back a minute later, and before I could ask him any questions he was gone again.. mind you that these office visits are supposed to be 15 to 20 minutes in length! I was finally able to ask to see the pictures of the inside of my shoulder before, and after. He left the room again, and asked one of the receptionist to get the pictures for me! I saw the pictures, and this visit came to an end. My next follow up was on August 28th 2023. This appointment was more of the same with lack of his time, and attention. He came in, and had me stand up did a couple exercises, and out the door he went! Surgeons can't bill the insurance for post-op visits for the first 90 days after surgery.. this explains his lack of compassion with his time. He wouldn't answer any questions while I was there, but proceeded to say if you need anything give us a call. When I got home I called the insurance company, and informed them of these short visits. They weren't too happy, and asked me for his name, and the address. They also stated that they would not be referring any of their members to him. I was also told by others that I am not the first person that complained about this provider.. stay as far away from him as you possibly can!! Once it took him a whole week to send over pain medicine to my pharmacy!! When I first started seeing him he informed me that he worked under Dr. Michael Keith.. whom did my rotator cuff back in 2010; excellent surgeon with over 50 years under his belt, but I find this very hard to believe because this guy knows nothing about compassion! He has a lot of five stars on here which is what drew me to him, but maybe this type of behavior is something new, or personally against me. I found another provider to see me for the rest of my follow ups. Take no chances people. Good day, and stay healthy. read more

In October of 2018 I come into the Mercy ER via ambulance because of pneumonia complications. No time was wasted in the ER. The ER doctor sent me for a CT scan immediately and found out that I had a large blood clot in one lung and the pneumonia in the other lung. I was admitted right away and I was put on the cardiac floor for whatever reason. The only complaints I have about being on that floor is that I wasn't allowed to have regular coffee or salt. Such is life. The care I received there was really good. The doctor for that floor, Dr. Hussein, was extremely nice. He came to sit and talk with me several times. If he ever gets his own private practice I want to be first in line to be his patient. I'm serious. The nurses that took care of me were great. I wish I remembered their names. My night nurses were especially good. I was very happy with how they treated me. Those nurses went above and beyond for me. Even the food was good there. I had been sick for a while and had lost a lot of weight and the nurses were awesome about making sure I got snacks when I needed, most of the times without me even asking... they would just walk in with food telling me I looked like I was hungry, or bringing me coffee (decaf). Honestly, the nurses I had treated me like I was family. In conclusion, I had a very positive experience at Mercy Lorain. I don't think it was a coincidence, but who knows. The doctors I dealt with were very good. I couldn't have asked for better nurses. The food was good too. I don't want to be in the hospital unless it's really necessary, but if I need to go, I'd like to be back in Mercy. read more

I was having a cluster headache attack and the ER doctor said he believed I was a psychiatric patient and would not treat me. He brought two hospital cops to back him up and my wife who was there asked him why he was not treating me. He asked me what year it was, he pointed to my wife and asked me who she was and asked me who was the president. I left and went to Saint John Westshore Hospital, they immediately did a spinal tap to rule out a brain bleed and treated me properly. I was in the ER another time and the female doctor came to my room and said, "I have a patient with no blood pressure, so what's your problem that can't wait". I was in the cardiac department and an Indian doctor came in and immediately said, "Tell me what street drugs you take, I know you take street drugs." I said, "They have been taking my blood every 6 hours for the past 3 days, you can ask them". He did not introduce himself or say what department he was from. He said, "You don't have cluster headaches, I don't believe you." He asked me who diagnosed my cluster headaches and when I told him the name of a doctor that is very well known he shut up and said oh, ok. Obviously there was no street drugs because I do not take any. I left against medical advice and he denied saying this to me even though my wife was in the room too. It is so sad that I was treated this way and I called the ombudsman to make complaints. Nothing was done. She said she was so sorry that I was treated that way. Sorry does not cut it. I could have died and incompetence of the doctors is shocking. If you can avoid going there, please do not go. You health and life depends on not going there. read more

Me, family, and friends have all had meh or horrible interactions with this hospital. My grandmother is sick and starting to die. She went there last night on accident (wanted her to go to Elyria) in the ambulance because she was very congested and we thought she had pneumonia again as she's been getting it every couple weeks to month lately. They said she had congestive heart failure and a small amount of fluid on her lungs but was fine and sent her home with some meds to help with the fluid within two hours of getting there. She's been coughing her head off all night and had a gurgling noise when she breathed. When my grandpa was dying in 15 years ago he would do the same thing so it was easy to tell she had it. With the recommendation from her at home nurses we just sent her back out in an ambulance and made sure it was Elyria this time. Every interaction with my grandmother over the last few months have felt infinitely better at Elyria than Mercy. When at Elyria they seem to keep us in the loop a lot more and she comes home better than she left while it's felt almost the complete opposite with Mercy. Her main doctor is from Mercy as well and has felt like she's done almost nothing for her. It's been 3 months into her problems and over the course of it she has not been mobile. Her main doctor's assistant called the other day asking why she hasn't seen her in awhile. When I told her she was not mobile and we didn't have equipment like a wheelchair to transport her she acted surprised and said she would let the doctor know. Anytime I go up there personally every interaction feels rushed and the nurses seem to be having fun more than keeping up with people. One time I had an IV placed in me wrong for an hour or so before they realized it was going into my arm and not my veins. My buddy had to go up there for mental problems and said they treated him very poorly the whole time he was admitted. TL;DR: If you have a choice pick almost any other hospital over Mercy. I do not recommend using Mercy as an ER at all as well as Doctors who work for them. read more

Went to the Mercy Health Orthopedic in May to see Dr. Martinez it was supposed to be for my hand. Got there, he only sees for knees. He was great! Kind, professional, listened, and took his time. The front desk staff specifically, Kelly was very rude, unprofessional, should not be at the front desk, and have no customer service skills. Her interaction with me made me not want to come. I had to go back to the office 2 weeks later , still the same attitude from Kelly. Recently, on 7/10/20, I stopped by the office and her attitude was so bad, I had to tell her I was filing a review and co soldering not coming back because she was so rude. She is making this practice look bad with her stank attitude and unprofessionalism. read more

I have hives covering my body head to toe, it's been a year long struggle with this and no hospital or doctor can tell me what's wrong. This hospital has got to be the worst one in Ohio. I've learned to cope with this when it's the worst by going to the ER and getting a kenalog shot in my butt to give me hope for a few days that this will eventually go away. I got there at 930 pm, left after 11 pm with no body in front of me yet seen. I asked a guy next to me how long he had been there, he said 2 1/2 hours. I left so upset as a kenalog shot at other hospitals has taken me a half hour in total from the time I come in to the time I leave. read more

This was my first born, so I was a bit nervous, but the staff was so kind and constantly checking in on me- even before my baby was born. Incompetent radiology department! I have had four cervical MRIs over the years. All have shown moderate degenerative disk disease and a pinched nerve. However when I had an MRI done at the Lorain Mercy hospital, they totally missed this and indicated my cervical spine was normal. So, I have a thousand dollar bill and a useless MRI and will have to fight to have it redone at a hospital that has a radiologist department that can read an MRI. read more

Avoid this hospital. Worst place to go to get help. I went to ER for back and leg pain. They put me on high doses of steroids and muscle relaxers. Meds ate holes in my stomach, causing internal bleeding. Had to be taken by ambulance. They put me in ICU. Began bleeding again. No nurses around. Pushed call button. Call button didn't work. Yelled. No one answered. Had to move close enough to get my phone. Texted wife. Told her I need help. Wife drove to hospital late at night to help me. Nurse finally came back in room and yelled at my wife because she was helping me and cleaning up blood. Was in hospital for 8 days because of them. Now I'm out and still have the problem with legs and back pain I origionally went there for. Now insurance is refusing to approve the MRI. Would not send my enemies to this place. read more

If I could I'd give this place negative stars. Not a good place to have a baby or go for emergency care. The wait times are unacceptable considering the size of their ER. I was there for a blood clot, they had me sitting in the er for 20 minutes and hadn't yet triaged me. They don't even have nurses doing it. My husband could tell I was getting worse and took me to UH Elyria. We were told if my husband waited 5 more minutes to make that decision he would've been planning my funeral. I was there for a midterm loss. Their triage is a horrible process. During the last month of my pregnancy I was in the ER 5 times. I should've been admitted. The er has no obsectrical equipment to examine you. So they improvise. And it was extremely painful. At Fairview they admitted me to the OB floor to deliver my son. I was there for seven hours and had to return the next day because my doctor said I needed surgery. Ok why was I discharged in the first place? I was discharged twice from the er in less than a 48 hour period only to have to return hours after for surgery. Crazy! If I had been admitted long prior to this my daughter would be alive today. read more

This has to be the worst hospital in the world. My family dr sent me here due to panic attacks. He made arrangements for me to be direct admitted but that was not the case when I got here at 5:00. They have to put on their dog and pony show, saying they have to do this test and that test before they can decide "if" they are gonna treat me. It's midnight and I am still waiting for someone to talk to me. Now I am told that they may not have a place for me and I might be farmed out to another hospital. Way to go mercy hospital. I had my daughter here at a little over 5 years ago. I was only in labor for two hours total, and the nurses recognized that I needed to be admitted right away. A doctor was woken up (I've since learned that he passed away), and he was so calm and caring while delivering my daughter. She had feeding problems at first, but the nurses again recognized the signs and sent a physical therapist to work with her while we were still there. Breastfeeding became so much easier after that! I do wish they had something like quiet hours so that you can get two or three hours of uninterrupted sleep. Besides that, I really liked this hospital, and plan to have my third child there, too. read more

This review is for the Mercy health ready care at 3600 Kolbe Road Suite 106. I took my daughter there today, filled out their form and were told we would be called. After an hour, I went up and asked them about the sign (saying that if your there over 15 minutes to let them know) and the woman told me that was only for the patients in the morning. ??? wth so I wait another hour, and my daughter goes up and tells them we have been waiting 2 hours and they look her up and put her in the computer finally. so we waited 2 hours for them to even check us in. they asked us what happened and I told them they had me fill out the paper and they said the would call us up and they never did and told them I even checked after an hour. They apologized and got us in within 10 minutes. Overall this was a sad showing for mercy and I use the hospital and haven't had any complaints. And my primary care is with mercy as well. read more

This place took forever for us to wait in line. When we got to the front we were setting up an appointment for me to get the strep test. They said that there was no Medicare for me listed. My mother was furious. She updated the insurance for us over half an hour earlier and when we got to the clinic they wouldn't take it because apparently they can't take medishare and they are idiots. So we had to go to Walgreens for a strep test and we were told on the phone that they can do medishare and we drove all the way here. If I could I would give this terrible place -5 stars. But that isn't raven good enough to show how bad they are. Now we have to drive to a Walgreens instead of the walk-in appointment we had. My husband and I have used Mercy and their teams of doctors since we moved to Lorain 7 years ago. We have both been hospitalized there as well as having to visit the emergency room. I have nothing but praise for the care we've gotten while there. My husband is a cancer patient and we've been extremely fortunate to have efficient, knowledgeable, compassionate, and caring nurses as well as doctors. The emergency room is exactly that. An EMERGENCY room. Due to my husband's condition and his trips for oxygen issues he usually gets triaged quickly. That's as it should be. While I sympathize with a person in pain, I myself would understand the wait when there are lives hanging in the balance that need to be evaluated first. So many people have false expectations and also don't follow up with their PCP (or specialist) after a visit or admission and then blame their own lack of sensibility on the hospital. Personally I have been in EH, Fisher-Titus, and SWG and I have found the care to be much better in Mercy. My husband has also been in the Clinic and my mother in UH and neither compared to the level of care received at Mercy. read more

I wish I could give negative stars! This hospital is TERRIBLE. If one has good insurance they will order every test they can and run them multiple times. My 83 year old mother broke her hip they ordered a CAT-scan, two hours later ordered another! The next morning they ordered another CAT scan to check for possible other breaks. X-rays will show breaks in bones CAT- scans do not. When I questioned the nurse she told me I was neglecting my mother by questioning their care! My mother has dementia she was so confused. Several doctors representing the hospital would come into her room and ask her why she was there. It was stated on her chart she suffered from dementia and she was on medication for it. Why in the world would a patient need 6 hospital doctors in addition to her primary doctor and orthopedic doctor! Then 2 more doctors tried to talk my brother and I into signing papers to revoke her DNR that she had renewed with her layer every 5 years since she turned approx. 59 years old. My god I can't think of any reason this hospital is allowed to operate! STAY AWAY FROM HERE! As I was leaving the hospital a woman in pajamas, sitting in a wheel chair, by the front door. No one was around and it was 11:50 pm. I asked if I could get her something she said no they kicked her out that her time was up and she didn't have any place to go. She had an IV needle in her arm but not hooked up to anything. I walked down the hall and found a security officer and explained what I saw. I told him I thought she was confused and needed help. He said no she was going to have to call a cab if she couldn't get someone to pick her up. He advised me not to offer her a ride that I could put myself in danger! I stated this was terrible and reminded him it was almost midnight. He stated rules are rules, shrugged his shoulders and walked away. What the heck! I was in an auto accident May 21 and was taken to Mercy, Kolbe Road, ER. I was helpless with what turned out to be a fractured sternum, fractured left clavicle, extremely contused right ankle. The reports of the CT head, x-rays of chest, and foot did not read no bleed on the brain and no fractures, just contused. I didn't want pain meds even though my level was extreme as I wanted to know the extent of the injury clearly. I was left in the room after the reports were given to me and my husband. no one said 'we want to admit you for observation or for further testing', So after several hours I asked if I could just go home since they said 'no fractures' I assumed no further treatment. The report sent to my Physician stated I left AMA. How could I have left AMA when no one told me that I was actually fractured nor that I should be admitted?. I couldn't move my left arm nor use my right ankle, could only pivot on the left ankle, to get off of the stretcher to the BSC and the WC. The statement made by whomever filled out the report was not true, I would like it amended. I was not able to put my shoes back on due to the swelling and pain, sockettes were applied and I was discharged at the door in a puddle of water that was draining from the rain. I pray I never have to go to the ER again. read more
