I truly want to give 5 stars because am 1/3 Filipina and I love to support my kababayan but I'd like to give constructive feedback so Auntie Ning's can even have better repeat following or patronage. The pork sisig was a 3.5 - pork was too minced that by the time they cook it and it was shriveled, it's just like bottom of the pan bits. Longanisa bowl was a 3 because they didn't use the right sweet longanisa (would be nice if the longanisa was left whole and not cut up). The garlic rice seems to be cooked in chicken broth and garlic so it was more of sticky rice rather than true regular rice texture infused with garlic. I AM CRYING that Auntie Ning's is an hour from my house but it certainly gives me an AMAZING reason to make the trip. The restaurant is small but you can see the ample amount of returning customers being greeted by name with a smile. We ordered the chicken and pork belly adobo with beef lumpia and vegetable lumpia. It was absolutely delicious! The savory taste from these entrees will leave you wanting more and craving it for multiple days after! We are making the trip again today LOL! I just tried Auntie Ning's for the first time, and it was delicious! We picked up the food and brought it home for dinner, and my boyfriend and I loved it. The adobo and rice portions are very generous. The lumpia is very crispy. I'm Filipino and there aren't many places to get Filipino food in Richmond, so I'm very happy to have found this place. Husband and I were eager to try this place after it took over in Smoky Mug's old spot. Well...it did not disappoint!! Holy crap the food was GOOD. This was our first time trying Filipino food and all we want is more. The cashier was super helpful as I explained my preferences (not a fan of dark chicken or pork belly if it's super fatty). She helped me decide on the Pork Belly Sisig because the pork is chopped up finely and fried. I got it with the garlic rice and chefs kiss, it was DELICIOUS. So much better than I expected it to be. I got it medium spicy and next time know to go higher in spice level (she said medium is one fill thai chili pepper). My husband got the pancit bihon with chicken (noodle dish) and even though I don't typically like dark meat, I liked it just fine in this dish. The lumpia's were also great, I preferred them without the dipping sauce so you can really taste what it's stuffed with (we got the beef lumpia). We came in for the official grand opening of Auntie Nings brick and mortar restaurant. Service was a little slow as the kitchen got quickly backed up from all the customers but it was definitely worth the wait. Small amount of indoor seating with bench seats by the window, nice patio with comfy tables and they have a big grassy area in the back as well. Ordered the pork belly sisig, pancit bihon, and beef lumpia. Loved everything. The sisig was the shining star of the meal. read more

Very good food and nice people. This is my get fat place on the Northside. They are busy making changes inside to make it more usable as a dining area and I think their dining room will look awesome. The sitting areas now are pretty quiet and can host large groups. read more

AMAZING! Delicious food and fantastic flavors. They are featured at ChefSuite on Broad (be sure to check out their socials for timing) and often at RVA Big Farmer's Market. Whenever we go to the farmers market as a family, it's always an 98% of buying a breakfast bowl from them. HIGHLY recommend. Because of how delicious and popular they are I would suggest going up to the truck to ask the "wait time" on when the food would be ready. I went this past week to the farmers market and stupidly decided last minute to get a bowl for my breakfast treat. It was about a 20-25 min wait but I wish I asked ahead of time so that I could've ordered it and then ventured around the market while waiting. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, in fact I took the opportunity to do another loop around the market and get some steps in so that I could FULLY enjoy the bowl without any guilt haha. I can't say there's a particular bowl that I enjoy more because it just depends on your mood. Their bowls are delicious and I love the runny eggs that are served on top. Both their sausage and veggie lumpia are delicious - if you get the chance to get one of each - DO IT!!! haha. 100% recommend! read more

You know us cousins stick together, lol, so are you hooking me up with secret of the secret of the discretely secret recipe for lechón and lumpia? You better or I'm telling Tio, lol. Haha, just kidding (or am I?). Let me tell you, I am still licking my fingers from the finger-licking goodness that I devoured three days ago. You weren't lying when you suggested the sampler. That pork - made me squeal like a mama pig! That sampler had me weak, and the food was so delicious, filling, and plentiful that I could eat from that bowl for weeks (I eat like a bird, lol). We ordered two of those marvelous bowls, with one being a sampler, and the lumpia - oh my goodness, that footer lumpia had me wishing that there were more to go around. The food was just so delightful that I can't find suitable words to describe it. My only gripe would be the fact that we had a tough time finding the location, (it was a B@#$h) and I really wished I could have tried one of my favorite desserts. It was a bit disappointing. Could you please put up a sign that indicates that you're there, even if it is just for us cousins? If you do that, then consider yourself added back to the Christmas list haha! I really wish we had more time to sit down, eat, and catch up properly (cousinspeak) but we were in such a rush to devour our food that we almost didn't make it to the car. Auntie Ning's was in the neighborhood so I finally had the opportunity to give it a try. We ordered the chicken adobo, lechon kawali and their ube brownies. The entrees came with your choice of white rice or garlic rice (we chose the garlic rice) and 2 of your choice of beef or veggie lumpias (your choice of beef or veggie). The veggie lumpias were amazing - probably one of the best I've ever had. The garlic rice needs work as it was a bit mushy and did not have any garlic flavor, or any flavor for that matter (Jollybee's garlic rice tastes so much better!) The lechon was burnt which threw the texture and flavor off a little. The chicken adobo was good but there wasn't anything extraordinary about it. The ube brownies was a bit too sweet but it was delicious and I wanted more after I was done with it! Made my way to Forest Hill Park to get my Filipino grub on and it was totally worth it! Auntie Ning's made it easy to get my food by placing my order in advance. Cut off for Saturday pick up at Forest Hill Park is 12:30pm on Friday. Food was hot and flavorful. Good portions. Entree comes with rice (garlic fried rice or white rice) and 2 pieces of lumpia. You can order additional lumpia because let's face it ... you can't stop at one (or even two)! I thought the Bistek was tender. The lumpia with the sweet chili sauce went well together. They also offer a banana ketchup. The staff was friendly with great communication. Would definitely return. From the South of the James market website if you are trying to do curbside you have to be in line by 9:45am. Otherwise you will need to park and they will let you in -1 person and you must be wearing a mask. The place has very simple, cheap but filling, and tasty Filipino cuisine. The owners/cooks really seem to have a passion for their food, and only recently bought a food truck 3 days prior to my review. The best thing on the menu in my opinion is the Sampler Platter as it has most of the stuff on their menu. The Adobo Chicken is savory, and falls right off the bone, the Beef Lumpia is crispy, and the vegetable Pancit is salty, and spicy. They were out of garlic rice which is what I wanted - got white rice instead and it was ok. The lumpia were actually just regular egg rolls and not lumpia. The truck was late arriving but staff were super friendly. May give them another try next time they're around but not sure. read more

We got the food truck today and this was probably the worse ever. We didn't get eggs or garnish. Just rice and pork. It was disgusting. I was super excited for Filipino food too but this was not it. The eggrolls were so soggy. Service was great, but there wasn't even a line for them to skip garnishing. The truck looked old and ragged which was fine but then the food came out the same way the truck looked and I knew it was a bad decision. Definitely would not be returning. We found out about Auntie Ning's from Richmond Weekly and was excited to hear a Filipino food truck existed in RVA!! We found their schedule and visited them on Friday night. We ordered Lechon, lumpia, garlic rice and sautéed veggies. Food was super fresh and insanely good!!! I preferred the veggie lumpia over the beef (just love veggies!!) but both taste delish!! Cannot go wrong with either of you order some, it's $5 for 4 pieces, AWESOME DEAL!! The lechon was cooked well, tender and seasoned well. Combined with the rice and veggies, my tastebuds were delighted and thrilled. The veggies were cooked just right, they still had a crisp to them and were not soggy which is how I like it .
