I strongly recommend AURA Advanced Plastic Surgery in Boulder, the practice of Nathan Roesner, a Doctor of Osteopathy (an MD who treats the whole patient), for your cosmetic surgery or reconstructive needs. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer last November, Nathan Roesner intervened during the most daunting period of my life; he helped me. To add to the hellish diagnosis, I was hit with the death of my younger sister, Maya, who passed away the very day before I visited the Aura office. Dr. Roesner was incredibly empathetic when he and I first met. He shared that he had lost a dear friend of his earlier that year. His words were precisely what I needed to hear that day. He then explained the complex phased breast reconstruction process using visual aids and sketches. The plan reassured me that I was in excellent hands. On December 20th, 2023, I had a double mastectomy, and then Roesner performed Phase 1 of my reconstruction. The following day, I awakened and immediately leaped out of bed to look in the hospital mirror. I unzipped the white sports bra the surgical staff had placed me in and took a good look at myself. The Tissue Expansion Devices (TEDs) were slightly filled. I am so grateful that I didn't have to go through the additional trauma of waking up flat-chested. My post-surgical pathology report revealed that more cancer was lurking, so Dr. Roesner had me scheduled to undergo the removal of more tissue, D[r. Roesner's surgical coordinator deserves a quick shout-out. She got me in the OR before any metastasis occurred. THANK YOU.] The more radical clearance of breast tissue led to an epically received report of NED (No Evidence of Disease)...not even any RESIDUAL disease remained in my system - (or at least none that can be detected by the state-of-the-art surveillance systems we have to date). Roesner removed some of the air from the TEDs to protect the fresh incisions from the stress of being stretched. I looked deflated, which was not very cute, but only briefly, for the air fills began shortly, eventually replaced with saline. During that second surgery, Roesner also removed a chemotherapy port from my chest that I wouldn't be needing. Having the port so seamlessly removed was a tremendous relief for me. Over the next few months, I would visit the AURA office for TED fills and facial treatments, including BBLs - Broad Band Light laser treatments. Master medical esthetician Kerri McMain performed my BBLS and other facial work. Kerri is probably one of the most careful, competent medical estheticians to have ever worked on my face, neck, and decolléte. As a licensed esthetician, I am highly selective with who wields a laser over my skin; I knew I was safe with Roesner's practice. I even brought my 11-year-old daughter in as we were struggling to clear up her acne. Not only did Kerri work on her face with great care, but she also gave us fresh ideas regarding care and prevention. With just a single microdermabrasion session at AURA, there was marked improvement in my daughter's skin. Kerri is also a delight to converse with; she seems genuinely concerned about the health and beauty of the patient's skin and overall wellness. I felt valued as a patient at AURA. The desk attendants always seem upbeat and accommodating. Dr Roesner's Nurse, Tanya, was the one who typically performed my TED fills (gradually expanding the breasts via painless needle puncture). Even with the injections, undergoing those fills proved to be some of the most incredible medical fun ever. Growing breasts was an absolute blast for me! Nurse Tanya was always a pleasure to see, as was every other individual who works at Aura, conveniently located near Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. My reconstruction has become more aesthetically pleasing than 97% of the reconstructions I have viewed. [Mind you, I am a brutal critic.] Since the 3rd surgery (swapping out the TEDs for silicone implants) on April 22nd, 2024, I have noticed that my breasts are outstanding in symmetry. They are also my preferred size -my original size- and have minimal scarring. Dr Roesner must have used some technique that looks anything like butchery. Best of all, the new breasts feel like they BELONG inside my body; they cause me zero pain; granted, I am half numb, but with consistent scar massage, the sensation is starting to return. What's a nice bonus is that I can wear almost all of my favorite pre-mastectomy bras. I had some pretty great native breasts before all of this, so the bar was set very high for Dr. Roesner. By the grace of God working through him, he managed to hit the high bar. He hit it aesthetically as well as perfectly excising an invasive cancer that would have left my daughter without a mother. Dr. Roesner and his staff and have just changed my daughter's life. Only 15 years old and in desperate need of a breast reduction, my daughter and I carefully researched all the plastic surgeons in our area and found Aura based on their great reviews. We knew it was going to be a slog to find an office that would try to get her procedure covered by insurance. Most plastic surgeon offices I called were only accepting patients who were paying out of pocket and would put insurance patients on a waiting list. Aura scheduled my daughter's consultation immediately, and we had an appt. within a couple of weeks. My daughter was nervous about having to disrobe and take photos at the consultation, but Dr. Roesner has a great bedside manner with an affinity for bad dad jokes. He gave me the impression of a type A/perfectionist personality what is exactly what I want in a surgeon. His supporting staff was also very warm and made the experience much less embarrassing for my young teenage daughter. Choosing a plastic surgeon is a daunting task, and most people assume that the best surgeons are in the bigger cities like Denver. But let me assure you that Dr. Roesner is one of the best plastic surgeons around. Both Dr. Roesner and I tried to set realistic expectations about the outcome of her reduction for my daughter-scarring, possible free nipple graft, loss of feeling and possible inability to breastfeed in the future, but all the risks were worth it to her so we moved forward hoping for the best but prepared for complications that were clearly outlined to us prior to surgery. Despite our anxiety and concerns, surgery day went perfectly and the procedure went better than expected. Dr. Roesner was able perform the breast reduction without the free nipple graft which was incredible considering the reduction in size. And least importantly, my daughter's breasts look AMAZING. The symmetry, proportion and natural shape of her new boobs are better than we could have ever hoped for. Dr. Roesner is the Michelangelo of ta-tas as far as we're concerned. I came in for a Brazilian hair laser removal appointment today for the first time. The office is located in a business building, and I had to take a second to find my ways around because there weren't many directions to where the entrance is. The office is very clean and cozy. I was greeted very professionally, which might make the receptionist came off as unwelcoming because she was being very blunt with the way she speaks towards me, but it's tolerable. I believe the technician that treated me was Lindsey. The service she provided was awesome! She explained to me thoroughly what hair laser removal is and make sure I'm comfortable with everything through out my whole treatment. I was nervous to be exposing my private areas to strangers, but she was being very professional and comforting. The process didn't hurt as much as I thought it would have been; just like a rubber band snapped against your skin and the more sensitive areas will feel hotter. Coolsculpting is a waste of money. Weight loss is a catch 22. You know that to loose weight you need to eat well and exercise. I eat well (now) and want to exercise and be active but I get exhausted easily by lugging 30-40 pounds of extra weight around. Think about it- that's 1 bag of softener salt I am carrying around! I elected to do coolsculpting to jumpstart my weight loss process by reducing fat/ weight and be less heavy to have better exercise sessions and be more active without getting exhausted so easily. Never did I meet or speak to the doctor, just unlicensed assistants with no official medical credentials. I will admit though, those assistants were well scripted and professional. Hence the 2 stars despite no outcome other then being $1200 poorer. Despite working out for 1 hour 5 days a week with a trainer and eating well I still look and weigh about the same in my lower abs. I am now looking at getting liposuction which was my first choice and decided not to go with it because of cost and post surgery downtime. Coolsculpting did not hurt at all, most likely because it's not doing much. The natural fat elimination they speak of is about 2 months later, 1 day I had a weird pink gel in my stools. I assume this is fat which in total I estimate was about 2-3 fluid ounces. Awfully expensive and time consuming for nearly zero results. read more

I have the receipts to prove my claims. I was offered a settlement. I refused. Dr Roesner has no ethics.. His esthetician Amanda Deboer did scar and burn my face attempting a procedure that I neither signed for nor was she qualified to perform. When you have unqualified staff performing laser procedures and you are nowhere in sight you are responsible. This physician cares about himself only. Do not waste you money at this business. I cannot think of a more cruel person than a physician whose staff permanently scars a patient and dies nothing to remedy. I am entitled to my opinion. Vanessa and Nicole are amazing at injections and Lindsey is awesome at anything and everything from facials, derma-plane, and vivace. I recommend this place to everyone! I had dermaplaning and a glycolic acid peel with a Groupon ad. The technician Lindsay was gentle and explained the process thoroughly. I didn't get the hard sell on any products which is often the case is in skincare clinics. My dry crusty skin is as soft as a baby's bottom. I had coolsculpting done about 3 months ago. What a waste of $5k! It made zero difference. I feel like they should be more up front about how little result there may be. I should have just done lipo as that is a guaranteed result. Very unhappy with what I got for my money and the information up front. So to address Nicole's comments. First she and I only discussed lipo to the extent I liked that coolsculpting was non-invasive. I never even considered Aura for lipo. I did talk to sonobello about lipo. In an email exchange Nicole stated to me CS, at best, would removed 25% of the fat. Sonobello said their lipo would do 70-80% removed of the fat. This goes to my comment about being upfront. Had she told me CS was, at best, only 25% effective I would have spent the extra $1000 at sonobello to get 3 times the results. Her comments that oh in the next month it will finally work I find to be a pitiful excuse myself. I guess it was my fault for not knowing what Nicole didn't tell me up front. Additionally I don't think it was even done correctly, as the applicator bruising was well above what I wanted treated on my sides and back by 3-4 inches. Oh yes there is lots of bruising, itching, and hard fat for weeks. But another month will do it right, LOL First it was 3 months to have max effect but now they are claiming 4 months. Next it will be 5 months. You know what did work? For the last 5 weeks I have worked out 5 days a week. Now that reduced fat. Get a gym membership, it's more effective. read more

Six months ago, I received a wonderful facial at Aura that brought me back as a return customer. This time, Lindsay treated me and I left feeling like she listened to my concerns and was knowledgeable. My satisfaction quickly turned into a nightmare as I went to pay. The receptionist, Ashley, was disrespectful, unprofessional and argumentative. My husband had given me a Groupon to use and as I looked through my phone, I could not locate it. At that point, Ashley said that I could not use a Groupon for my second treatment. I suggested that I could go to my bank across the street and pay cash. She stated harshly, "You can't leave this office without paying." I replied, "You don't get to speak to me in a rude manner." I then texted my husband to see if he could find the Groupon while I continued to look for the voucher. In a few minutes, my husband was able to send me a screen shot proving that a Groupon was indeed purchased. The owner after hearing the exchange came out into the reception room and apologized for Ashley's behavior and for her to leave the front desk area. I came here before my Oct wedding with a Groupon and they spoiled me. Leah gave me a microdermabrasion treatment. I also received an oatmeal mask plus a cooling treatment. My skin did feel really 'worked on' but each step of the facial was also incredibly soothing. I have dry skin and Leah gave me a mini sample of moisturizer to use between my visit & the wedding (~2 weeks). When I first saw how small the sample was, I figured that it may last 3 days max. It was so thick & luxurious and it lasted me - with daily use - until the day AFTER the wedding. I looked amazing, felt confident, and my face was radiant on my wedding day thanks to Leah and Aura. But this is not what bothered me as much their lack of professionalism. After being told I was current on payment, they then came back after and told me I still owed for previous treatments. I had Smart Lipo done to four areas by Dr. Roesner in April 2013 before the business name changed. I did upper and lower abs, love handles and lower back. I must say I am so happy I picked him as my Doctor I had many other consultation with other doctor's but my heart told me to go with Dr. Roesner, he listened to my concerns and made me feel comfortable, I had lipo done to my love handles by Dr. Ben lee a few years earlier but he did a horrible job did not remove all my unwanted fat and when i told him he could have taken more he said you can buy lipo dissolve if you want, I felt robbed! That experience made me scared to deal with another plastic surgeon, but Dr Roesner was different he took such good care of me, during the surgery myself Dr. Roesner and his nurse joked and talked it made the surgery a breeze, after my surgery he called me to see how i was doing something my last surgeon did not do. My recovery was short i had surgery on a Friday and returned to work Tuesday, and i did not have one black and blue mark on me. I now feel confident about myself again thanks to this amazing Doctor. Dr. Roesner will be my go to plastic surgeon for anything I ever want.
