Before I visited I was informed the South Hills location was unexpectedly closed for maintenance. Laura went above and beyond to reschedule at a later date in South Hills location or transfer my appointment to the Strip District location. It was more convent to visit the downtown location. I was warmly greeted as I walked in. I was about a half hour early for my appointment but was able to start immediately. I was treated to a complimentary seltzer, I enjoyed the Blackberry Lemon which was very good and refreshing, so much so I had to get another one after my session. Abby was a great host during my visit. Very friendly, helpful and informative. I didn't know what to expect but she explained the process thoroughly. During the session I switched colors every few minutes to get all the benefits from the entire color spectrum. Afterwards I felt relaxed and releasing the tension and toxin's! That night I got a very hot shower and got a great nights sleep. I enjoyed it so much that I'm looking forward to purchasing a package deal soon! This place makes the perfect couples date. From the moment we walked in, the whole experience felt calm, intentional, and luxurious without being pretentious. Had a great time here for the sauna session! The place is clean and quiet. The girl working here was also so friendly! The only complaint I have, and not sure if it is a complaint and more of the suggestion, is the curtains surrounding the saunas. I worry a bit about how the curtains don't quite close all the way, so there could be gaps in between them. Creates a bit of a concern regarding privacy. I found out about the opportunity to try a 45 minute infrared session in exchange for a donation supporting HARP =) Laura was so kind and helpful to my friend and I our first time in. My friend said that she started out wearing her bathing suit, but sweat a lot more after removing it and then felt like she got more out of the experience. I was a little unsure at first because I'm not a fan of hot yoga, but I felt great as soon as I stepped out of the sauna! I love Aura!! I try to go regularly because it is such a great reset and time to unplug. The staff has always been super nice and willing to answer any questions. The saunas have tablets in them connected to Spotify which is nice to customize your sauna experience without having to take your phone in with you. The units are pretty small, so I typically just sit straight up or lay on my back with my legs up on the wall, both of which I find to be comfortable. It can get pretty hot in there, which is awesome! But you can control the temp is you want to it to be more mild. My only con is that you can hear everything happening in the studio when in the sauna (walking, phone ringing, talking to clients) so it's hard to completely relax. read more

I tried this back in September thanks to Yelp! I didn't expect to love it as much as I did as I have low blood pressure thus saunas are risky. I've since been back for another session and have another one about to be in the books. This facility is clean and beautiful, smells incredible, and just feels really peaceful. The saunas themselves are small but I can find a comfy spot and relax. I love the tablets inside so I can put some soft music on. They're great about explaining color therapy and it's fun trying the different lights. The heat feels incredible and not oppressive at all. I just really enjoy going in and reading quietly while my muscles relax. Staff is so friendly and really helpful. I'll be a lifelong customer! read more

This #ThankYouThursday I want to express gratitude to Aura Sauna Studio for making me feel so good! This is the self care routine I didn't know I needed! I first found out about Aura just from walking past in the Strip District since I visit De Fer coffee next door often. I thought it was interesting and was intrigued. We then had a Yelp Elite Week there and I got to try my first session for free. Infrared saunas are much different from traditional saunas because the light raises the core body temperature and produces a deep, detoxifying sweat at the cellular level, where most toxins reside. Each session is 45 minutes and you can adjust the temperature right on the screen inside the sauna. There is also a chromotherapy light that you can adjust based on your wants/needs. For example white light helps reduce the effects of seasonal affective disorder. After my amazing first experience I purchased a 3 class package so I could fully enjoy the benefits while it is cold outside. Each 45 minute session is pure relaxation and makes me feel so happy like laying in the sun would. We absolutely need this service especially living in Pittsburgh. I am looking forward to more happy days even when it is cold and gray outside because of Aura Sauna Studio. The one owner Laura is so sweet and even noticed that I turned up the heat last time, so she had it ready at a hotter temperature for my next appointment. I have been telling everyone I know about this place and I can't wait for my next session. They also sell things like candles, bathing suits, towels/scarves, and drinks. I really like the hiYo drink which is a non-alcoholic adaptogen drink that makes you "feel the float". Drinking one can after a sauna session will put you in full relaxation mode. This place is very nice! We are super lucky to have this sauna studio in Pittsburgh. I've traveled around the world and have been to a lot of wellness/ spa places, it's my favorite downtime me moment when I'm on the road I like to find steam rooms & saunas . Once I found Aura in Pittsburgh it was a game changer. I hadn't had much to pick from for steam or sauna until Aura. Aura is the best, Sometimes you go to melt out all the toxins out of life and sometimes you go to have a private space that's like a warm hug in silence (or your choice of music). Light therapy sauna is where it's at. Typically at a sauna you would be subjected to whatever heat the room is set at and possibly 12 other strangers with you. At aura you have your own private space & can also choose your own temp. This isn't a regular sauna experience (at least for me), it's light therapy sauna! Very cool! read more

I've never had an infrared sauna session before and let me tell you, I am running to sign up for a membership! Firstly, the studio is so clean, beautiful and minimalistic design. There is a small retail selection with products like wellness journals, supplements, apparel and more. Laura, the owner, kindly showed me how to use the sauna and informed me of all of the benefits - wow! The Saunas are roomy and there's a tablet in them that you can put music on or watch Netflix. Being able to leave me phone and still be entertained was awesome (I don't know how to do nothing lol)! There is a full body towel you can wrap yourself in as well as other wash clothes and hand towels. You end your session with a cool eucalyptus towel which smells incredible. I can't believe the benefits! From weight loss to stress relief, chronic pain and digestion, it covers a lot! Plus the relaxation of it is the added bonus I really needed. Can't wait to go back! P.S. Yes, you do sweat a little but as soon as you step out and use the towel, it's immediately cool! I have now been to Aura several times all on Fridays. There is typically no one else here at this time. Apparently Sunday is a very busy day for them. Anyways- I absolutely love it. I used to go to Hot Yoga and I thought I loved it...well turns out I really just like being in a hot room. I literally feel amazing when I leave. I also love the infrared lights. You can choose from 16 colors that all have different purposes. I typically choose blue for stress relaxation. The entire studio is super clean and welcoming. After your appointment you have a cooling towel waiting for you that feels and smells amazing. Although parking can be a pain I have still found a close parking spot almost every time. Honestly there is really no downside to coming here. Can't wait to make my next appointment! read more

Love this place! Just had my second sauna experience here. I book through Class Pass, 45 minute session in the sauna for 7 credits. Love the multitude of infrared light options to choose from. You can listen to pandora in the sauna and can adjust the temp to your liking! Just wish the saunas were a bit bigger, it can be a little difficult to get comfortable, but there is a wooden back board you can move around to sit against or you can remove the back board from the bench completely for a bit more room. read more

From the moment I walked in until I left, the staff was very helpful in explaining how everything worked. After 45 minutes in my own private curtained off area with a sauna booth, I felt more relaxed and less tension in my shoulders and hips. I kept the heat closer to 140 degrees and while music was available I chose to listen to something else on my phone with ear buds. The experience left me more ready for the day ahead. What a wonderful spot! As soon as you walk in you are greeted into a calming space. Staff was excellent in explaining everything. The studio offers multiple individual sauna booths. I did a 45 min session in which you go into your booth and use the time as you see fit in 140 degrees. It was not as hot as I thought it would be and you can reduce the heat if you need to. They have music inside the booth for you to listen to. They have plenty of towels to use. And best part they give you a cold towel with scented oils at the end to wipe off with which is heavenly! Inside you can chose different lights that affect your body. I felt great and refreshed afterwards. This was my second time coming and I purchased a special they were doing with aura bora sparkling water. I will definitely be returning. Parking may take time depending on when you go to the strip, make sure you account for that in your travel time before your appointment. read more

I stopped in for a 45-min single sauna session. This was my first time using an infrared sauna, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Immediately, Mia greeted me at the front desk and showed me around. The process is pretty simple, and it's nice to have my own private sauna experience as opposed to the typical experience at the local gym's sauna. I set the temp to 145° which was challenging but manageable. Throughout the 45 minute session, I relaxed while listening to music and drinking water. This was an amazing experience! I have been in many regular saunas, but never an infrared sauna. Walking in, you can tell the vibes are calming and relaxed. The lady who was working was so sweet and explained everything about the process to me. I had a couple more questions, and she answered them perfectly. Once I was in the sauna, I was able to choose the music I wanted and the temperature of my choice on the screen. I chose to keep it at 140° for the first half of my session, then around 144° for the second half. The way I did this was by clicking the little circle logo button on the left side of the screen. When my timer went off, I hopped out and used a dry towel to wipe down my body. I also used a eucalyptus infused cold towel to cool myself down. In my opinion, that was one of the best parts. This whole business is very clean and such an easy place to unwind after a long day at work. I would love to purchase a membership sometime in the future! read more

This was a cool experience. Wasn't sure exactly what to expect or how it works as I've been to "normal" saunas before. First the space is very welcoming and clean. I was able to get a good parking spot right out front. Laura took her time and explained everything to me and exactly how it works in the various colors. I wish the units were bigger as my feet were swelling from the heat and I couldn't lay down all the way to put my feet up. I tried my best to adjust and lay back as much as possible but that was uncomfortable, def need to drink water during. It's nice that you have the option of either being clothed,semi clothed or fully nude and that you have the option to control your music as well. I had a really lovely experience at this sauna studio! Upon arrival the owner greeted me and showed me where I could fill up my water bottle. We went back to the area I was assigned too. It was very private with tall ceiling high drapes like a dressing room. The sauna box was a little smaller than I thought, so I couldn't lay down but still enjoyed sitting. You can control your settings once inside using a tablet, including music, lights, and temperature. The added chronotherapy lights were cool to use and their was a guide on which color promoted what benefit. And the remote was pretty well labeled! Many colors and benefits to choose from. I attended my first session complementary as a Yelp elite - thanks Yelp! But I definitely want to add infrared sauna to my wellness routine and they have different packages to choose from. The first time I came to Aura was at a Yelp Elite event. I loved it so much that I ended up being a package and have been 4 times already. I love the heat and desperately missed it after practicing hot yoga for the better part of a decade. Every time I go I mix up my colors based on my mood and what I need. There are 16 color options to choose from and there's a sheet that tells you which color focuses on. Laura is extremely nice and always pleasant when I come in. The studio and saunas are always clean. At the end of your session you get a scented wet towel to wipe off with. You are sweaty but it's not a gross when you get out wipe off and change. I've gone to lunch and shopping right after and felt fine. read more

Aura is my favorite place in the Strip! The sauna experience is so relaxing and rejuvenating. The studio smells amazing and is extremely clean. When in the sauna you pick the color light you'd like and each color can assist your body with different remedies. I like that the saunas are a gentle heat so being in the sauna for 45 min is really endurable and you get the great infrared benefits. The saunas have built in pandora radio, I usually listen to the meditation playlist which is so calming! After the sauna, they provide you with a cold eucalyptus towel which is soooo refreshing after 45 min in the heat. The other products they offer like candles and hiyo non alcoholic drinks are so great and such high quality! I can't get enough of the candles! I really loved the studio and the heat, it was super clean and unique. The only reason I couldn't give it five stars was how incredibly loud it was. Every person who came in or every time the phone rang, you heard everything. There aren't rooms but the saunas are separated by curtains, which is fine but definitely not soundproof. You also can't lay down in the sauna, it's a sitting bench only. It was a really cool experience and I would loved if it had been a little more quiet because it definitely has a peaceful vibe! read more
