I have come here several times over the years, most recently last weekend when my husband bought me a spa package that included a massage and facial. My massage with Eli was great, he made sure I was comfortable and I felt very relaxed during and after. He then directed me to a comfortable waiting area until Shelby came to get me for my facial. Shelby's room was so relaxing and she quickly got me set up and explained what she had planned before checking my skin to confirm the treatment. I nearly fell asleep during the facial as it was so relaxing, I felt like I was melting into the table. This experience aligns with the others I've had here - always a high quality experience. I had a 90-minute prenatal massage with Pony, and she was absolutely incredible. I am 29 weeks and came in specifically for lower back pain. Not only did she relieve so so so much of that tension I've been carrying around for weeks, but she took the time to answer my questions and explain how the trigger points and tightness in my glutes could be leading to that referred pain in my lower back and showed me some stretches to help stretch my glutes at home. She was professional, attentive, and such a joy to spend 90 minutes with. Will definitely be returning for a follow up with Pony! Could not recommend more highly. read more

I went in for a 60 minute deep tissue massage today. I arrived early for my appointment since it was my first time there. When I got there, there was no receptionist for the first five or ten minutes. When she came out, the only greeting I got was "what's your first name?" After that I waited in uncomfortable silence for my appointment time. The time came, then passed. Ivory wasn't super late; just five minutes. No biggie. We went back, I undressed, and by the time the massage started it was ten minutes past my massage time. This is no big deal, but I did note the time hoping that even though the appointment started late, I'd still get the full sixty minutes. I did not. The appointment ended exactly on time, so I got a fifty minute massage but paid for an hour. I know that in an ideal world the customer would say something right then and there, but I just didn't feel comfortable voicing the issue. The massage itself was decent. Not bad, but not great. More emphasis on my arms and wrists than I needed (especially when my issue was my neck), but it wasn't unpleasant. Ivory seemed nice. Little nit-picky things: the room was kind of cold and the overhead lighting was a little jarring when I turned onto my back on the table. The building is very pretty though! I wish tips could be paid on the card, but they only take cash tips, so be prepared. read more

Got the rejuvenation facial (50 minutes) with Shelby and it was one of the best experiences I've had in Pittsburgh at a spa! My facial was done by Shelby and she was so welcoming! Shelby was super attentive to my skins needs - especially with the heat from this summer - and used products that I could easily implement into my everyday skin care routine. There was double cleansing, exfoliation, she included a brightening serum and mask to my treatment, and a head and shoulders massage. I was unable to make a massage due to inclement whether and they refused to move my massage to another date, and still charged me for the full massage. That's right, they charged me $110 even though I physically couldn't get to the location due to snow! Imagine a spa asking you to physically put your life at risk for a massage. Absurd. The woman I spoke with refused to help me, refused to budge from their policy (that doesn't even address inclement weather), and was rude. Horrible Customer Service! This place has gone downhill. I recently had a 90-minute massage with Leslie. The salon was clean, temperature checks are taken and I never interacted with anyone besides the front desk clerk and my masseuse. I also wore a mask the entirety of my visit. I never realized how much stress and tension I hold in my neck and shoulders-- I felt free from that tension for the first time in months, thanks to Leslie. She recommended a stretching routine and use of a foam roller to help with this in the future. I was quite sore the following day, but in a good way. Prices were reasonable and I'd definitely return. The 3 times I have been here I have gotten the Rhonda Allison Rejuvenating Facial with Gabrielle. This includes cleansing, steam, masks/exfoliation plus massage & ice therapy. I had never had ice therapy and wow it's incredible. I also get extractions which Gabrielle always double checks that you wants them before providing the service. When I leave (and the days following) I am GLOWING. Seriously, I do not know how Gabrielle does it but my skin looks perfect after going. She is professional, sweet, easy to talk to and knowledgeable. I felt so comfortable right away. The salon itself is super relaxing. First time at Evolve for a little rest and relaxation. I started with a Chakra Balancing Massage with Leslie. I had heard that it can be deeply healing for anxiety, depression, and trauma, but it's a newer service and I wasn't sure what to expect going in. Leslie was great and explained what she would be doing during the session. Even though for most of the session her hands weren't actually on me, I could feel what she was doing and my body responded. Evolve does a great job of making their clients feel relaxed and welcome, and I've appreciated their dedication to cleanliness as well as the safety of their staff and customers, even through the pandemic. It has always felt like a safe space, which adds a different level of relaxation. As for Leslie, I will try to keep this short so people will actually read it, but she is an extremely kind and caring person, willing to share her calming energy, and she goes out of her way to make her clients feel at-ease. I have extreme anxiety at times, but Leslie worked with me to calm my nerves, eased me out of the anxiety back into reality, and helped me get to a place of mental and physical relief that I didn't think was possible at the time. She was very receptive to requests of muscles to focus on for my massage session in addition to discussing the oils/lotions in use to rule out allergies, and she worked out a great deal of tension in said muscles since I don't schedule sessions as often as I should! I dropped in October 2020 after living with upper back/shoulder/occipital neck pain for the past several years, and was 1) very impressed with the professionalism in maintaining appropriate hygiene and ensuring customer confidence in their cleanliness amidst COVID 2) addressing my pain and 3) making me feel pampered :-D. This is my first massage experience and really set a high bar. Needless to say, from walking in to meeting the masseuse, everything was very seamless. The ambience was soothing and relaxing, and my masseuse greeted me and escorted me to my room. Lighting , temperature, and comforting background music were all gucci. My masseuse was very respectful and walked me through what to expect. I scheduled an hour-long full body deep tissue massage, and it was so well worth it! I imagine the experience would be different depending on the masseuse so I will just leave a plug for Heather K - she is fantastic! Following my session, I greatly appreciate that I can directly tip the masseuse. I'd always wanted to come here after so many good reviews, but I don't live on this side of town, so I never made the time to come. Well, now I had this GC and no excuses, so I had to book a facial! I booked the Uplift Signature Facial because I like a little bit of everything in terms of facial, massages and a little hand treatment because it all feels so good! The facial itself was great. My face 100% felt fresh and revived after I left. The woman that worked on me was super nice in the entire process too. Why the three star review? I felt like I was missing something once I read back on the online description of the facial. I booked it specifically because I love having light head, shoulder and hand massages. I never received a hand treatment, which I realized after the fact. I had a mask that had to set for 20 minutes and she asked if I wanted her to leave me alone or do a massage. I was excited to have a massage. She very very lightly rubbed around my shoulders. I don't at all want a rough massage (I don't even like that kind), but I really don't know if I'd describe it as a massage. I had never thought much about getting massages until Evolve was recommended to me by a colleague. I decided to book a lavender lush massage, and I'm so happy I did! Leslie was a great massage therapist. She was attentive to the areas of stress I told her about and she checked in to ensure the pressure was good. I left feeling so much better than when I arrived. They took appropriate precautions due to COVID. When you arrive, you have to call to let them know you are there and someone will let you inside so long as there are not too many people in the waiting room. Masks are required while inside and during massages. All employees had masks on as well. The lady who let me in was so friendly and accommodating while I waited for Leslie. I arrived about 10 mins early and did not have to wait long. The ambiance of the spa was relaxing. It was well decorated, quiet, and had soft music playing in the background. I hate writing bad reviews. I actually never do but awhile back I was double charged for my services. I payed cash and then was charged on my card. My husband caught it just in time so I wasn't overdrawn in my account. That's a pretty big mistake. There was no apologies just " oh she made a mistake ". They did offer me 15% off my next service but after all that I had a bad experience so I didn't want to go back. I got refunded after a couple of phone calls. Then I just received a GC for my birthday and since that incident .I called and explained what happened ( silence on the other end. ). I also said I wasn't coming back to the establishment. If there is a heaven on Earth (or at least Pittsburgh), it is the Evolve Wellness Spa in Shadyside. I had an hour-long massage that was the best massage of my life. First off they were really respectful with covid guidelines and I felt at ease. Second, it smelled like a garden full of warm cookies and flowers. My massage therapist was so attentive to my areas filled with tension and I felt like she could read my mind about the type of pressure each area needed. I work on my feet for 12 hours a day and run a lot so my body needed some TLC and Evolve Spa provided that. I've had a lot of massages and this one really stuck out. I will definitely be returning to have more massages and try out their other services. If you're looking for a massage spa, look no further. read more
