He was unreliable for service calls, sometimes taking 3 weeks to respond. He finally bowed out and referred the calls to the technician Chris Stibbs (who originally installed the system). Once again, I encountered delays of up to three weeks for service. Finally, the unit failed to operate. Turns out it was a lemon and required replacement, but because of all the delays in service, it was past the full warranty replacement service. I had to pay $1500 to have a new compressor unit delivered and then the cost of installation by Chris Stibbs. That was February 2023, this is now June and once again I have a problem. I have been calling both Chris Stibbs and Kurt Guardian for 6 weeks--both have ghosted me. Alpine Air technical support tells me that they think the installation by Chris Stibbs was wired backwards. I now have to hire another service company to try to fix/resolve the problems.

With that positive start, Kurt was very courteous (had booties for shoes before I even told him I prefer no shoes in house), patient with all my questions and expedient with his written proposal with no attempt to up-sale. Of 2 other companies, one never showed after changing appt time twice in one day (because of urgent issues elsewhere) and other company called to ask address since they were lost, was condescending, rushed me during inspection, questioned what type of research I had done since I was asking specific questions, then proceeded to overbid while offering to "give" me free vent and furnace cleaning. Not only did Kurt clean the furnace, but also repaired an electrical disconnect I had with my fireplace at no additional charge. Kurt stated in advance that I should plan for about 4-5 hours for the install. He called morning of appt to say he would be at my place on time (just another courtesy call), arrived on time and completed work well within the allotted time. He and James were willing to answer any questions I had during the process and kept me updated. Kurt honored his very reasonable estimate even after having to make a slight adjustment (requiring additional supplies). Quality of work is important, which they have down pact, but courtesy, integrity and punctuality are just some of the things that sets Guardian apart from others.

Our existing HVAC unit was pretty old and we've had more and more issues with it in recent years, so my husband and I knew it was likely time for a replacement, which Lloyd confirmed after showing us the myriad of issues with our existing unit. Lloyd took his time and gave us his opinion and recommendations for a full system replacement. Once we confirmed which brand we wanted, he said he'd get back to us with quotes the following day and, if our unit was in stock, they would also be available to begin work the same day. Lloyd called us the next morning with the quote as promised and confirmed the unit we wanted was in stock. From that point forward, it was seamless. Lloyd and his crew came back, tore out our old unit and prepared the space for the new one. They then went and picked up the new unit and brought it back to begin installation, which was completed a few hours later. Lloyd has a small team and they were very efficient and professional throughout the entire process. They also installed and help me set up our new thermostat. I cannot say enough great things about Lloyd and his crew. I thought we'd have to suffer through not having AC for days (during 90 degree temps), if not weeks, before anyone was able to help us. Lloyd diagnosed the issue on Sunday morning, and we were up and running with an entirely new system by Monday evening. My husband and I both agree that Lloyd is now officially our go to for any and all future HVAC service needs. I highly recommend him to anyone needing HVAC maintenance or a new system.

But I had a great experience today with Cool Heat Mechanical Systems in Denver. My house has two furnaces, both of which needed a check-up and filter change. A friend recommended Cool Heat and I was so glad they had. Paul, the owner, was completely professional, very knowledgeable, and ***gave us one the fairest price*** I've ever gotten from an HVAC firm. The cost for checking both furnaces thoroughly, replacing the filters, running carbon monoxide tests, and spending several minutes talking to us about our furnaces was only $134 which included travel time. We now have smoothly running furnaces, more knowledge than we ever would have had about the age and condition of our HVAC equipment, and the peace of mind to know everything is working well. One of my neighbors recommended Cool Heat, so I gave them a call on Friday afternoon around 3:30PM, thinking I'd get a call back next week. He was wrapping up another service call in the area, so came right over in about 30 minutes. He was GREAT! Our HVAC was frozen up with gunk and he cleaned it all up. He did confirm our suspicions about our ducting system - woefully under trunked (old 4" ducts) with lots of breaks. He gave us a reasonable price for upgrading, but recommended that we don't need to do it now. So, we'll now be able to save the money for that project (that we suspected we should have done 4 years ago when we installed our new units). Thankfully, he confirmed that our actual equipment was great and that there is no need to replace those. (My fear was always that someone would come in and recommend a whole new system). Best $125 ever spent - an hour on site to fix us up! We will definitely be hiring Cool Heat to come back to upgrade our ducting later this year! As a bonus, he also services Rinnai water heaters - because we live in Englewood (hard water), we need to get it serviced. I've gotten outrageous quotes for that in the past - his quote is substantially lower than everyone else, so I'll have him to that, too.
