I have stayed with him for all these years because he has a vast breadth of knowledge, he talks to me and not at me, he focuses as much on keeping me healthy as he does in dealing with any health issue I might have and I really like his holistic philosophy of health. His explanations are clear and he answers questions directly. He mines me for information and then works to connect the dots. And he channels his ideas and recommendations within the value boundaries of his patients without compromising his medical analyses or his solutions. Beyond medicine, he also advises on lifestyle changes that a patient can make to enhance their health. As a result, I have improved on a variety of personal health metrics ranging from my Ac1 score to my inflammation levels to even my heart parameters. He also instills confidence that one has the power to impact their health in positive ways. I especially like that he has a nutritionist professional on his staff. I've learned more about the relationship between food and health than I ever thought I would and to my significant benefit. I would suggest that having such an allied professional in the office is an asset that you won't find in many doctor offices. Finally, when I have had serious issues of concern, he was right on top of them. He didn't hesitate to get me the additional attention that I needed and I remain grateful for that. My only criticism is that some of his office staff can be very difficult to work and communicate with. Others are terrific. I end where I began. My labs are always thoroughly reviewed, and the actual examination is very thorough and professional. In the rare cases where there is a more serious issue to be evaluated, Dr. Li is always available for a thoughtful consultation. He sets a high standard for the practice and the entire team consistently exceeds that standard. A few years ago, following a late evening emergency appendectomy, Dr. Li made it a point the next morning to stop by my room at Rose Medical Center to check on me -- and he had not even been involved with the acute evaluation and procedure! The fact that there is a LabCorp location in the office, keeping me from waiting to get blood drawn elsewhere, is an extra added bonus. It's a very small old school office. Peeing in a cup is literally peeing in a paper cup, not a specimen jar. And they don't actually have a rest room other than the one for pee samples. There's restrooms in the next building that they're attached to. The dr is a nice man, very friendly and we're happy to have found him. Everything came back well and they gave me a complete and detailed report of the tests. He and his staff did a good job instructing me to fast for 12 hours before the tests for accuracy. Previously, I had another physician's office give me some unfounded and frankly dangerous advice and Dr. Harris helped me confirm that truth and get things into perspective. Being able to trust your doctor is key and I trust Dr. Harris. As for the dollars and cents, while some providers will try to get a co-pay on every entry through the door, Dr. Harris only collected my insurance co-pay once and only on the visit when we went over the results. Five times I tried to call in. Five. Two of the times the receptionist asked me to hold and when I tried to speak she mumbled something unpleasant and put me back on hold only to hang up on me. I spoke with Aboaf about it a few months ago and he was very concerned and sympathetic, and the service got worse somehow. There are at least two aspects to health care: physician/medical, and care/scheduling/customer service. The physician/medical is ok, but if you're looking for decent contact, ability to make appointments, or speaking with somebody other than the doctor/medical professional who seems to care at all, you'd do better at Walmart, or the phone company. The excuse that "everybody else is just as bad" is not a reason to rejoice at the poor treatment one receives at the hands of the staff. If the doctor reads this, he just might say "Drop this patient." That's both short-sighted and simply exacerbates the problem of expecting less and tolerating even less. The doctor and PA are ok, but the front desk and rest of he staff are just gettin' a paycheck.

I'm genuinely sad to be writing this review because this practice used to be excellent…read more I moved to Denver in 2016 and needed a primary care provider I could see regularly, as I take PrEP and require routine follow-ups. Dr. Peter Prutch was recommended to me by neighbors, and at the time, Family Centered Medicine was exactly what the name promised. Visits were efficient, the staff was friendly, labs were done in-office with fast results, and the overall experience felt thoughtful and patient-centered. I happily left a glowing review back then because it was earned. Unfortunately, since Dr. Prutch retired (hi Peter I hope you're enjoying retirement) and the practice was sold -- now operating as Part of Pinnacle Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, a subsidiary of Brookside Health Group, owned by Vertikle Enterprises -- the quality and continuity of care have deteriorated significantly. I saw the new provider (Ona Ahumada, NP) twice and left both visits feeling judged and unheard. My medical records clearly had not been reviewed, and notes about me were literally written on a napkin during one appointment. It felt unprofessional and rushed, and the contrast to how this practice once operated was stark. The only reason I returned for a second visit was because of Nikki, the medical assistant, who has consistently been kind, competent, and the one steady, positive presence in the office. Nikki is exceptional and deserves recognition -- and frankly, better systems and leadership around her. In December, I informed the office that I would be changing PCPs and proactively completed a release of records. Since then, I've spent weeks trying to contact the office to provide my new physician's information. Calls go unanswered, voicemail boxes are full, and when you call the number now listed on the door, you're routed to an automated system that also ends in a full mailbox. Three weeks into the new year, I physically went to the office only to find handwritten and printed signs taped to the door stating the phone system has been down since early January and that the practice has moved -- with no reliable way to reach a human being. I'm not seeking care here anymore. I'm simply trying to have my medical records transferred to my new PCP, and the inability to accomplish something so basic is deeply frustrating and unacceptable in a healthcare setting. This practice was once a model of efficient, respectful primary care. Since the corporate takeover, that experience has been lost. Final note: Nikki is amazing. She was consistently professional, empathetic, and helpful throughout all of this.
