You get a way place to stay with included bathroom, snacks, drinks, and Expert hosts on the aurora, cameras, etc. And they will do photos of you that they include for free. So take as much as you can. And they video the time-lapse and include that for free as well. We drove and parked ourselves. First time using our camera for aurora photography. The hosts was very helpful and knew all the settings to our sony camera. They open 10pm and close at 2am but if the aurora is still strong they are willing to stay longer as well. This facility is great because if you dont see the aurora right away, you can hangout in a warm space that has a bathroom and board games with water and some snacks. There is a cam too when the aurora does come. The camera rental is very convenient, sadly you have to take it in and out because the camera battery will freeze. Took off one star because the presentation for 40 mins was a bit long - we felt it would be rude to leave in the middle or do other things. Would be nice if it was shorter and more engaging, or if there is an option to be in the other side of the room and do our own thing. read more

Sage our guide was very helpful with hosting as well as introducing several good online tools for tracking and hunting auroras. Good camera tricks too. Consider renting their cameras. Terrific location away from city lights and with an unobstructed view to the north. We now have more tools for hunting auroras on our own. They don't run a shuttle from town so getting there is on you, but I understand they are building some lodging. The aurora didn't cooperate for us, but a comfy, warm, and friendly place to wait it out. read more

Hats off to Corey, not sure of the spelling, the owner knows his stuff. I called first because this was a bucket list item for my trip to Alaska. There was no answer so I left a message because I was only in town for two days and wanted advice. The Aurora predictions were low for the first night, but the weather was fair. Corey was timely and called me back. He told me to ignore the forecast as it not as reliable as one would believe. I decided to go up to his property as he recommended on the first night. I should put in a disclaimer here for Corey. He makes it clear that seeing the Aurora is never guaranteed even when forecast, but he has a pretty good idea. This is an amazing location and venue. His staff are well informed an attentive. They go above and beyond to set up cameras and cell phones to best capture photos and do a presentation explaining how the Aurora works. There are complimentary refreshments as a bonus. I actually caught the Aurora twice on this night. One time as we arrive in his parking lot around 09:20 pm for about 30 mins and again for almost and hour at 01:10 am. I now have hundreds of great pictures and can check off this experience. Big thanks to Sage. PS. If I had waited for the second night which was predict to be a 7+, I would have missed it due to a snow storm that blew in after the forecast was predicted to be clear. Cant recommend this place enough! Kory was a wealth of knowledge and gave us so many tips and pointers on how to track the Aurora and also the best websites and information to help us with our future Aurora hunting. He even helped us with our own camera settings so that we captured the Aurora the best. The activity center was amazing and so cozy. We had cookies, wine, hot chocolate, coffee, games and an outdoor fire to keep us awake and occupied while waiting for lady aurora to show up. It was only a 15-20 min drive from town, so very close by. We did see some aurora at the end of the night and Kory captured some professional photos of us. This is such a great point to see the lights. For just $40 per person you can enjoy not only the lights if you are lucky enough to see them, but a very cozy place to spend tue night. Also, they have a group of people that explain to you the phenomenon behind the lights, which is pretty cool. We took the opportunity to enjoy dog mushing with a company that works with them and although a bit expensive was lots of fun. However, the most incredible about this place is the pictures. Absolutely amazing experience. It's set off just far away enough from the city to be away from light polution. There's a big field that you can wander around on. They have refreshments (including homemade cookies!) and a warm, indoor space where you can wait for the Northern Lights. Best of all, they start the night off with the science behind the northern lights. The science is digestible - nothing TOO complicated. Knowing where the lights come from makes it even more beautiful to see them happen. They also teach you how to best read the forecast, common misconceptions about the forecast, and more. They put a camera up on the TV, so that we can monitor the sky without being cold for hours. They set up a fire outside so that when the lights appear, you are as comfortable as possible watching them. I HIGHLY recommend going here for your northern lights viewing. It is one of the most affordable options we found, and the experience was better than some of the more expensive ones we went on. This is a bang for your buck. You receive value when you go to Aurora Pointe. Quick tip - no need to get there exactly at 10pm. read more

Amazing experience!! Highly recommended! Yes, you can see the aurora from other locations that are free, but this is a great place to go to experience the aurora and to learn about it in a comfortable setting. Winter especially! It was very cold when we went, so being able to be inside while waiting, or around the protected outside fire pit was HUGE. The employees were super nice and helpful, and they took TONS of pictures of all of us and the aurora which were then provided to us for free which never happens! There was also coffee, hot chocolate, wine and cookies provided for free. The indoor gas fireplace was cozy and super warm! We did this at the beginning of our trip and with what they taught us, and after being able to experience it all, we were then fine with waiting in our car the other nights. Though we did almost consider spending the money to go back cause it was so convenient! This is a must in our opinion! read more

Aurora Pointe was a great find for us. With the city of Fairbanks just to the south, the northern sky is free from light pollution which can allow the northern lights to really shine. Owned and operated by a brother and sister, this spot has a far more intimate and personal touch than other viewing areas in Fairbanks. A telescopic view was broadcast onto a large TV inside the warming room allowing you to watch for the lights inside. Once they made an appearance we all ran outside and cheered as the green lights danced across the sky. The operators also take your photo with the lights behind you and they do this free of charge which is pretty cool. This is a five star operation that should not be missed for those in search of the allusive Aurora Borealis. read more

Kory the owner is very rude and condescending. His replies to guests reviews are very evident of this. He claims he suffers from anxiety but has no difficulty telling every guest not to talk or ask any questions because he has a grand presentation. Loud and obnoxious is not a symptom nor sign of anxiety. Telling people not to show up before 10pm because he will not unlock the doors. Then making an announcement that "however you got here you better have them pick you up because I'm locking the doors at exactly 2am whether you have a ride or not" when it is 0 degrees out. If you want to be abused then I recommend his place.... But if you prefer a professional experience,call 'Face the Outdoors' it was great!!!! Oh yeah.... And whatever you do, don't eat or drink anything from there!!!! He blew his snotty nose then wiped the excess on his sleeve and proceeded to fill the guest's drinking water and replace cookies with the same hand. Warning!!!! DONT look at his dog in the eyes.... DONT interfere with his dog if he's talking to him!!! Haha... that was part of his fantastic presentation on the Northern Lights!!!! This place was a disgrace. Absolutely, hands down, there is no better way and no better place to view the Aurora than at Aurora Pointe with Kory. He has built the coolest viewing facility with a fireplace, comfortable sofas, chairs, tables, etc. He provides hot coffee, wine, beer, cookies, etc. He has outdoor seating and outdoor fire pits. Very clean modern restrooms. Kory has technology that helps monitor what's happening and shares that to a big screen tv and teaches you how to know when to get outside so you don't miss the lights. He gives a presentation to make you more knowledgeable. compare this to sitting in a car or van and having a bucket for a restroom. I would give them 10 stars if I could. This was the best possible experience I could have ever had. While I was there I was lucky enough to see the lights, and a great show at that. But aside from the lights, we were greeted with a choice of hot chocolate or wine. And fresh baked cookies which I thought was a very nice touch. While you wait for the lights to appear, you can hang out in a cozy cabin and play board games to pass the time. The staff was so great, they even took pictures of everyone with a better quality camera and emailed it to everyone free of charge. A bonfire was set up to keep you warm when viewing The lights. Don't book with this place. We spent $300 for our family to view the aurora. This place is horribly marked on GPS. When I tried to find the place using my IPhone GPS, there was nothing there. I tried calling Kory and left a voicemail but he never returned my call or text (he never even called or texted after that night.) We even asked the gas station down the road and their gps pulled up the same spot where there was no entrance, roads were icy, and the only homes on the road said "no trespassing." When I emailed asking for a refund because I never heard back, he responded 2 days later saying that "everyone else could find the spot" and that he couldn't return my call because he was in the middle of a presentation (not sure why he couldn't afterwards???). He also said they would not be issuing a refund due to their cancellation policy. He did offer that we could come back another time but by the time he responded, it was too late with our limited time visiting. You would think with this being his business and people paying so much and roads being dark and icy, that he could return a call or text. Don't waste your time with this company. There are much better ones near Fairbanks who will communicate with you and help you have a good experience. read more

This is a great place to hang out while you wait for the Aurora to appear. About 20 minutes out of Fairbanks, it's easy to find and the roads were good. We were concerned about driving out of town in the middle of the night in winter in Fairbanks but it wasn't a problem at all. For your $30/ person you get a warm place, comfy chairs and tables, free cookies, tea, coffee, hot choco, etc. (Other snacks available for low cost.) You also get a knowledgeable local. They keep a screen up with a live web cam so you get a heads up about when to go out and, well, put your heads up! You still have to get lucky with the weather and the gods, but thanks to their helpful advice I was able to get a few decent pictures of the rather weak aurora that night. Unlike some of the more expensive places they take your picture for free and allow you to link to and share other pictures as well. Had a great time at a truly amazing facility. Lots of places to sit inside while waiting for the aurora. Julie was a great host and took our picture with the aurora behind us and provided over 80 pictures (via email) that she took throughout the night. Refreshments were provided and they even had smores making ingredients there for you to use on a couple of fire pits outside. Big parking lot on the north side of the facility which was very dark which made for some great pictures. Webcam display on the wall showed the sky so you could stay inside until the lights appeared.
