We enjoyed our stay greatly at Pikes! We chose Pike's for its convenient location (5-10 minute drive from airport and downtown) and all the amenities it had to offer. It's located right alongside the Chena River and they have a viewing deck and firepits for aurora viewing, which we were able to catch on one night! Lots of amenities provided, though some of it is seasonal: 24/7 complimentary shuttle to and from the airport, free parking, complimentary breakfast (winter only), courtesy aurora wake-up call (just need to let them know the night of), an evening ice cream social ($1.50 per scoop), a library, a gift shop, a mini-theatre playing a video clip on aurora viewing, a gym, a restaurant next door, firepits, bocce ball courts, billiards & speakeasy (closed) and a dry sauna (unfortunately, was undergoing renovations when we went, but should be open by end of April). The place has a cozy feel to it, and you could probably spend all day just looking at all the artwork inside and outside of the lodge. Noise could potentially be an issue. Since it is near the airport, you could hear the planes flying overhead every now and then, but this was not an issue for us. Temperature of the room was comfortable. I cannot attest to the housekeeping services, but our room was clean when we arrived, and I saw the staff every day bustling about on the floors. They have blackout curtains too if you plan on napping during the day time. Overall, so glad we chose Pike's for our stay!

The arch between the restaurant and hotel--the hotel grounds are fun to walk around!

This is a kitschy, fun spot! We loved our stay by the river. We thought the staff was welcoming and kind, rooms were clean and the extra functions like the ice cream social and aurora movie added to the experience.

We only stayed one night but everything went well! Beds were comfy and we got good sleep. Warm water with great pressure in the shower and the view of the frozen river was cool to have :) loved the little balcony too I wish we were staying longer because I would love to check out everything they offer on their property but definitely will be coming back here to stay when we make our way back to FBs in the future :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE Super Quite, Comfy Beds, Great Free breakfast, $1.50 ice cream scoops every night, aurora alerts upon request, just absolutely spectacular views of the Chena river, free airport shuttle, One thing if you want to indulge yourself in Alaskan comfort I recommend the Alaska Love rooms.....

Outdated but has some fun things to do. Restaurant is way overpriced. The reason they are outdated is they want to keep with a miner type of vibe. But you can do this while still updating the rooms. Love the little library on the property where you can borrow a book and read it during your stay.

Lettuce , Caesar dressing, croutons. Jar parmesan cheese.

I wouldn't recommend the Caesar salad. It's just a bowl of lettuce with a side of Caesar dressing, some croutons and some grated Parmesan cheese, from a green plastic container. Apparently lettuce and Caesar dressing is now called a Caesar salad. Older tourists crowded. Love the Tiffany lamp shades throughout.

Small downgrade from prior review. The noise is from the employees. If you happen to get room 117 ask to be moved. Across from you is the laundry room which the door is always open and laundry services are always going on. You can hear every conversation. Other than that, great experience.

Well some great ideas and poor delivery, The main issue I have is we stayed in 202 above the broiler room. Every time they turned on the floor shook. The bed felt like we where at sea. When informing the front desk staff of this they where so surprised. Normally it's the elevator. They said they would send a bellman. He was nice and arrived 10 mins later immediately noticed and explained he would put in a work order 1st thing in the morning. We asked if they had a different room as I was feeling sea sick and we are on land. He was polite and explained they had nothing else. This place was packed for breakfast. Side note the gym is also right above you. It's a thin wall so you will hear people running. We got a s'more room - no s'mores we did get a small pie that was nice but kinda disappointing as we had made the selection before we arrived. They have a TV playing talking about all the great things that they have to offer. The Majority of which are not available. The staff seemed discussed that we had been asking questions about things that seemed to be common sense. For crying out loud you have a TV on the second floor talking about staying warm to watch the auroras but the view is inhibited by snow. WTF you know it snows here right? That's probably why the two large heaters on the wall had been installed to pump out large amounts of heat to move the snow off the windows! - if you didn't think of that you owe me money for my idea. The only staff members that did outstanding was the Ice Cream girl Amazing and nice to get an ice cream. The maintenance guy that set up the fire pit the last day. Then the bellman who came into our room to feel it vibrating. He was open and honest and noticed it right away. He didn't act like the front desk who looked at me like I was crazy. I don't want to hate on this place as it could have been a bad couple of days, but it just didn't hit the mark. My wife who booked emailed about the room and it's been 48 hours still no response. Willing to try again but I recommend doing a walk thru prior to your stay if you can. or check a more updated review because currently they are 2*s for me.

Pros: - Fun eclectic decorations with a lot of Tiffany lamps, wood, taxidermy, and oddities - there's a lot of character to enjoy - Beautiful views of Chena River - Close to a restaurant - Free shuttle to train depot - Cheap ice cream Cons: - Only provided small square pillows - odd - AC unit is nice but located behind the curtain. Must choose between blocking out the midnight sun or cool air.

I really appreciated the time Jill and Scott spent with us over breakfast telling us about the history of Fairbanks and giving us tips about what to do and where to go for dinner. My dad and I had the opportunity to stay here on Tuesday, July 2, 2019. We just needed a quick place to stay for one night in Fairbanks as we had another flight to Bettles the following morning. So, so many regrets - I wish we had at least two nights here! The place is listed on the National Register of Historic Places!!! How awesome! We stayed in the William Room ($131) which was on the first floor of this beautifully historic bed and breakfast located in the heart of Fairbanks. The manager (?), Melanie, greeted us and got us checked in for the night. We were able to make ourselves feel at home even with all of the antiques everywhere. I was truly amazed and got out my DSLR to take some more photos. We did our laundry every chance we got during our five-week trip so I was quite thankful Melanie allowed us to use the washer and dryer which were located in the basement. Although each room seemed to be booked, we actually didn't see many other guests during our short stay. Like I mentioned before, our stay was short and we had to leave to get back to the airport pretty early. Melanie was so gracious to accommodate us and still provide breakfast despite it being before the normal breakfast time - I really appreciate that! The pancakes, sausage, and fresh fruit were all incredible and I'm not just saying that - it was one of the best breakfasts of the entire trip! I'm going to let the pictures show how great this place is but I do want to note this is one of the oldest buildings in Alaska, built in the 1916s (I think) by a wealthy man to court a female to Fairbanks. It was sold a short while later to author Mary Lee Davis and has since changed owners upwards of 11 times. It's been restored and decorated to reflect the early 19th century. Check out the pictures but more importantly, book a stay here!

The…read moreresort itself is firmly in the average-star range, but the legendary natural hot springs are a 5-star masterpiece. The property itself is a bit of a mixed bag. It has a rustic, old-school Alaskan wilderness charm, but the amenities and lodging options are showing their age and need some modern updates. The rooms and facilities are basic, and the dining is decent but unexceptional. That said, it is a convenient home base for activities like the Aurora Ice Museum northern lights photography in the wild. The outdoor Rock Lake hot springs is where it completely redeems itself. Soaking in the natural, mineral-rich geothermal waters while surrounded by the freezing Alaskan forest is a bucket-list experience. The boulder-lined pool is massive, and walking along the sandy bottom to find your perfect temperature spot is relaxing. Pro tip: If you don't want to commit to its older lodge rooms, the resort is an easy 60-mile drive from downtown Fairbanks along Chena Hot Springs Road, making it a perfect candidate for a day trip. Keep in mind the outdoor rock lake is restricted to adults, which keeps the soaking environment incredibly peaceful and quiet.

We ordered the Little Chena and Big Chena. I definitely recommend going with the Big (or opting for the potatoes and toast with the little), as there was a big difference in for what you get for the cost if you make the error I did with the Little...one pancake and 2 eggs for $17.50, that was a dumb mistake on my part. As for the food, pretty good overall. Eggs cooked, potatoes, and bacon all cooked well...pancake a bit rubbery for me.
