Ventilation is good. The spaciousness kind of dampens the sound, like a vacuum lol. It was so incredibly quiet. Like I saw people's mouths moving, having conversations, but no sound. It had to be one of the best study sessions I've had. Even though I didn't come here to read, the shelves were so neatly organized. I liked that each shelf had one featured book on display. And I loved the long wooden tables with short lamps, kind of an ode old campus libraries. One thing I appreciate is the amount and variety of study space provided. Every spot is equipped with power outlets like a priority. Very study-oriented. Location-wise, the fact that it's next to Promenade Mall means food & drink is conveniently nearby, and you can return to resume studies. I'm not from this area; I've been kind of library-hopping recently lol; but this library definitely left a good impression and I would come back here if the chance arises.

Bathurst Clark Resource Library is located right behind Promenade Mall…read more Suburbs' libraries can be really boring especially in the newer subdivisions because I have to say Bathurst Clark Library really lacks any architectural value as a building itself. The inside though is quite nice.. high ceiling.. 2 storeys high.. really open and spacious. There are also some curious love seats... on the right hand side when you enter.. really popular with teenagers. Those have really heavy padded cushions, looks so comfy! I am not that lucky to have one of those lover's seats. However, there are tons of communal tables that have individual study lamps and power bars all wired underneath the tables.. that makes my search for power for my laptop really effortless! WIFI connection is stable and fast. If you do need to use their public computers, a library card is required to sign in. Vaughan's Public Library is the only libraries I been to that has computer terminals that are equipped with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Atmosphere here is more formal.. everyone are whispering and there are no kids running around! :)

The little coffee shop inside the main floor that allows you to buy a drink and sip while relaxing is a great idea. The whole third floor is a quiet zone... big signs telling you what you allow to do or not allow to do. I love those arm chairs facing the big windows... comfy and have a great view! But why 2 star?!! You have to have a library card in order to use their WIFI!! So if you are not a resident of Richmond Hill... you are out of luck!! BOO!!!!!!!!

Later in life, my high school exam periods were spent here on weekends when not working, studying for tests and getting work done when home seemed too busy to get anything done. Later still in University, I continued to seek solace here from the world outside when I came home from Waterloo on weekends and needed to get things done. It was always a positive study experience. Provided you arrived early enough (aka at opening) and managed to out run the teems of people racing you for a prime seat by a window). I always thought it funny to watch people run like they're about to miss out on a big sale or their bus, up stairs, pushing one another over just for a seat. These days the library is packed with student, you cannot get a seat anytime of day and folks spend a lot of time flirting and talking on their phone in the stacks whilst occupying limited study/work retail. Blah! Not to mention the Wifi is spotty and restricted (no streaming or video watching... not even Youtube) and the cafe on the main floor (which has been there since day 1 of this location) is over-priced and low quality at the best of times. I can't totally slam the place, it's still one of the largest public libraries in the GTA and a central focal point in Richmond Hill as you drive North on Yonge approaching Major Mackenzie. I'll be back again I'm sure, for now it's coffee shops for my working needs!

I visited on the 2nd day of opening and the trees by the entrance weren't planted yet and there were 2-3 staff members at the front. Self checkout wasn't working yet. There is plenty of parking space outside. There are also two EV charging stations for the environmentally conscious. The only annoying thing about driving was that the entrance faces double-yellow lines, so you can only turn in (and out) going west. The inside of the library is really nice, with high ceilings and lots of windows that let in natural light. I noticed the start of a coffee bar, which should be a nice addition. There are tons of stocked shelves, but also quite a number that are still empty. There are many comfortable chairs throughout the library, including a few C-shaped chairs outside the children's books section. In the middle of the library is an outdoor courtyard to enjoy during the sunny summer months. One of the nice features of the library are the numerous semi-private rooms. The rooms are encased in see-through colored glass, so you can see if they're occupied. There's also a computer lab with small form factor HP desktops. For those with their own mobile devices or laptops, free wifi is also available.

Want to host a meeting? Book out a room. What to record a podcast? No problem. Want to use a 3D Printer? We got a few, son! Want to sit on a rooftop freaking patio and relax? Welcome home. Never mind the vast library of video games, Blu-Rays, audiobooks, this place has it all. I love that they even have exercise bikes set up so you can get a workout in while you read. Like what?? Everything is so new here... so spacious... with 12 feet high ceilings, large floor to ceiling windows... it is really good place to chill or even take a nap at one of their individual comfy armchair... Of course free WIFI access... good reliable and high speed and you never even get logged out ... and numerous outlets... And you can bring in a coffee/water/pop or whatever and you don't need to buy anything... and no one will give you mean looks even if you park yourself here for hours.. (uploading photos to yelp or writing reviews) Yes I am writing my 800th yelp reviews right now! Oh almost forget they do have good selections of books and DVD... I have not buy a copy of books for years.. I either put a hold and reserve them online for later pick up or I will just grab some good interesting read off the shelves... Not only I saved money and so much more environmentally friendly too.. Of course during school year, there will be a lot of high school students hanging out studying in groups... that do bring back memories......

Now since even books are in digital format, there are less actual printed material available. DVD movies are quite current. Good to pick up a few for movie night at home.

I've got to say, I was very impressed with the nice and relaxing vibe this place gave off. This library is pretty great compared to the other libraries in the area. It's right across the street from Emily Carr Secondary School, but it's certainly not just for high school students. There are two giant floors - a lot of children and families on the bottom and a lot of high school/college/university students on the top. The reason for this is because the entire top floor is a silent study zone! Such an awesome place that gets you in the mood to actually read and write. The tables and cubicles have outlets attached, which is obviously convenient if you use your laptop, smart phone, or any other electronic device to study. The couches are super comfortable as well. They've also got some nice rooms with white boards available for booking if you are coming in with a group. In terms of the general library stuff, this place has a wide range of DVDs, books, magazines, and a computer and printing station. I'll certainly make my way back here sometime soon! The school is their primary client as they are literally connected with an attached school corridor. As such, as noted in other reviews, it's continually full of students. They created signage directed at them because of the rowdiness that can sometimes occur. Also, there are often parents with younger siblings waiting to pick up the secondary school children, so of you are aiming for a quiet, comforting place to relax and read, you might want to come when the school is closed. Also, the majority of seating is designed to use your own computer at a shared desk area with classroom type chairs. The few comfy chairs tend to be taken up quickly. It's pretty small, but there's good light from the large windows. There's public restrooms, but there's no water from a fountain. You'll have to pay an inflated price for the bottled water etc. from their vending machines. An earlier review said wifi is only available to patrons with a library card, but that is no longer the case. You can connect quickly and easily without one. I'd much prefer to use a larger library that caters to the public, or at least my little local library. With no fountains or enough comfy chairs, I can't last very long here.

Given its size, it is VERY well run, and provides just about all the services you'll need on any given day at the library. The recommended offerings on display are very well organized and rotated regularly. I love that I can just about always find something interesting to take with me in addition to - or instead of - anything else I came by for. There are several areas to use, depending on your needs - from a quiet chair in a corner, to a desktop workstation, to a study room, to the large activity rooms used for programming. Speaking of programming, there are all kinds of movie nights, special help sessions e.g. retirement planning, how to upgrade your literacy and digital literacy skills, etc. My favourite is the book chat held on the last Wednesday of every month. These books are reserved for monthly discussion and you get your loan for the period to coincide with the chat. You don't have to sign up and it's always a treat to participate in the well facilitated discussions - as much or as little a you like, no pressure here. One of my other favourite services is how easy it is to borrow items you want with the reserve/pickup system. I can request my items and when I'm ready (and they're ready for you), all you have to do is breeze in, collect them from the shelf with your number on them, and use the automatic checkout. So fast and convenient! Kudos to the staff here - knowledgeable, courteous, and professional. Best resource in the neighbourhood.

Free unsecured Wifi and a good kid section... those monitor and KB for kids looks neat.. I almost want to play one of those "educational" games on them! Share the same building as Community Centre and have access to the huge park at the back. A whole room dedicated to Picture Books at the back... Picture books? sounds like fun! Definitely a great library for kids and young readers!
