I love the smell of lavender. It reminds me of sleepovers at my grandmother's. Her bedroom always smelled like lavender which is probably why I always slept so well there. Every time I smell lavender I think of her. As soon as we walked into Island Lavender thoughts of my grandma came rolling in. The whole shop smell amazing! There was every type of lavender product you could imagine and those I had never even dreamed of. I had to stop myself from buying one of everything. I did go home with Caramel Lavender popcorn, Lavender Lemonade, Lavender Cream Cheese, Lavender lip gloss, and an assortment of Lavender truffles. I could have spent all day there, but it's probably good we stopped on our way back to the ferry because I probably would have spent quite a bit more. The most unique thing I purchased was the Lavender Chocolates. I chose different flavors and they were all delicious. Just outside the door of the market they had these fun pictures you could pose in and this has to be my favorite pic of Leslie and I.

Today I came into the island lavender fresh market. It was a nice store filled with lavender…read moreessentials. When we first walked in we didn't get a hello. The workers looked a little bored. I thought I was the only one in my group who thought that. But when we left we all agreed it was a little rude of how they welcomed every other customer. Some of the products didn't even smell like lavender. But it was cute somewhere to stop but not the best.

My daughter and I took the ferry to Washington Island specifically to check out the lavender farm…read more We absolutely loved the experience - walking around the fields and picking our own bunch to take home with us was such a fun mother-daughter activity! I don't carry cash with me too often so I was a little frustrated to find out they only accept cash ($15) if you want to pick a small bundle of lavender. Thankfully we did have cash in our car this time, but I would have been SO disappointed if we spent the time to travel to the island and couldn't pick the lavender. Perhaps they could install an ATM at the farm for the majority of us who have embraced the cashless lifestyle?

A must see on Washington Island!…read more I'm biased, because I LOVE the color purple. But come on....neatly arranged, shapely clumps of flowers laid out in a giant field? It's a beautiful (and fragrant) sight! There were so many butterflies and bees visiting all the flowers at our visit, that I took probably too much time trying to take the perfect photograph. There is a gazebo and benches amongst the lavender plants if you choose to relax out there, otherwise, there is a patio just outside the shop to relax on and enjoy your purchases. The shop is a cozy place with lavender EVERYTHING! Books, oils, sachets, perfume, soap, dried flower bunches, small dishes, pressed flowers, candles, jewelry..... There is a small counter area where you can purchase food and beverages, most of it lavender infused. I picked up a few caramels, and my husband bought me a lavender wine slushie. I am by no means a wine drinker, but this thing was delicious! The ladies inside the shop are very friendly and knowledgeable, and can give you recommendations on which kind of lavender plants to purchase when you get home (I don't think they sell plants there). Be sure to put this place on your list! 7/2025
