My friends and I rented a boat from this place at a decent price, but then I felt taken advantage of by them. First off, the boat didn't have a full tank of gas and they charge a flat rate of to fill up the tank. We ended up having to pay the flat rate even though we only spent approximately 2 hours of cruising (tbh not even 2 since we anchored it and spent some time swimming) and we were supposed to have 6 hours with it. Secondly, the kill switch tether had gotten pulled out, which we weren't even aware that it had a kill switch. We called for help and none of their employees could help us. The guy on the phone said to sit tight and let one of their employees come out and handle it, which was fine, but their employee got there and couldn't help us out. As an employee of a boat company, who comes out to help the customers who get stranded in the water, they should be trained with the basics of what to look for. Well, this employee didn't know to check for the tether. Don't get me wrong, the employee was absolutely nice and actually a cool guy. He spotted what appeared to be an oil or gasoline leak and at this point I was thinking this was out of our hands, after all none of us are boat mechanics. Finally, we get towed back, with no one knowing it was a kill switch tether and thinking it was an engine problem and had gotten charged with a steep price after they found out it was the tether the next day. Since none of their employees could help us out with the issue on why our boat suddenly stopped working and it was something as simple as a kill switch that we had no idea about and neither did any of their employees as well, I feel like we got scammed. This place seemed like a good place at first, but after this experience, I'm never going to take my business there and I feel like you should know why. We recently rented a pontoon boat from Sunset, and were absolutely thrilled with the experience. The boat was beautiful, a 2011 Bennington, and the price was very reasonable. We had a complication late the night before we were to have it delivered at 8am ad weren't going to be able to be there that early. I called at 11pm and left a message and got a call back really early the next morning from Brett, the owner. He said they got us switched to 10am delivery, and later they got our pickup time pushed back. Grayson and the other man who helped pick up and drop off te boat were great. We were taking my mother-in-law out for the day because she never gets time to herself and she and we had an amazing time. The service made everything extremely easy and non stressful for us. Rented a jetski for 1 day, pickup and drop off myself, for $300. It's about 50 minutes from Torch Lake sandbar launch. I'd give the condition, performance, and appearance of the jetski 2 stars....but it did run all day and start every time without issues so I'll bump it to a 3 star. Website was great, service and communication was great. I stop short of 4 stars because I probably wouldn't use them again based on the older jetski's they offer, but overall it was a good experience. read more

21 foot Rinker Ski boat rented for 1 week over Labor Day week 2016. Boat was not as advertised in pictures on their website...abused by previous renters...ripped cushions banged up hull mechanical problems...cost was $2500 for the week!. Brett Campbell owner agreed boat was "rough and had mechanical problems and offered $250 rebate and then hid behind text messages. Had the nuts to tell me to come visit his boat yard next time prior to renting a boat...Will let American Express deal with them. Should have rented an Italian sports car for that price....never again with them! read more

Stay away!!!!!! Complete liars and trying to extort us out of $5,600 in damages to the boat.We rented a 18 foot bayliner and it died out on Traverse Bay, within the first 40 minutes.Had to tow us in and we waited another 1-2 hours until they brought a new boat.Upon our return, the employee told us he wanted our credit card number, to have it on record, for potential damages to the 1st boat.He told us we must have hit rocks with the boat and the owner wants us to call him. I told the employee, we were not near the shore, we tube for 3 times for about 20 minutes worth and we ran the boat in the middle.He told us the boat was damaged the night before and I told him why is the owner coming after us?He said I don't know and shrugged his shoulders.Well, myself, brother in-law and my son all heard this.So, we called the owner the next morning, and the employee must have somehow changed his story, because the owner has sent us a bill.Wow, I have my father In-law, brother In-law,my nieces and my kids and I decided to tube my kids over rocks??? Really???This guy is trying to make us pay for damages caused by other people and his lack of maintenance. This owner and employees are trying to scam money from us, and we will see these people in court. 1)We are getting our GPS records to prove this owner is trying to scam us. 2) I hope this employee knows going to court and lying under oath has it's own consequences. 3)I will not pay this guy a dime, I rather pay my attorney. read more

We rented 2 Waverunner (tons of hours on them) Delivery was good. as soon as we got them took off the 1 was driving 15 mph slower then other and we called company and they took waverunner back and charged us for the rental and also charged us $550 for a new impeller and said we ruined it and we had it less then 5 minutes.
