I do not recommend Mike. He provided poor quality service. He failed to listen to my requirements and referred me to a substandard property -- residents report dog feces in the hallways and walls so thin you can hear neighbors fornicating. He also lied. He said in May the rates would go up so I should do it right away. This is false. There are properties all over the place in Austin for the same price or better. I lost almost $300 based on his recommendation. His actions were morally reprehensible. read more

I don't think it would be possible for me to have a more negative experience with an apartment locator than I did with Michael. I have dealt with 2 apartment locators before who were amazing. I called him early on a Friday morning, telling him I'd like to move as soon as possible, and he said he would email me the listings that day. I next called him Wednesday night (five days later) because I still had not received an email. He didn't remember me, apologized, said this was not a reflection of how he normally did business. He told me he'd been pretty swamped, lost a whole bunch of his notes, and was about to go on vacation. I tried to be understanding (even though he kind of rambled a long time about it), and he said that he would send me the listings I wanted that evening. I told him that since I was waiting so long, there was an apartment complex that I had already set an appointment with for the next morning. That's when he said if I told the apartment that he referred them to me, then he would split his commission in half with me. Oh, and guess what? Once again I got no email. I wasn't going to trust him to split a commission he didn't do crap to earn with me when I can't trust him to even send me some listings. As icing on the cake, he always seemed distracted when I talked to him on the phone, he cursed like crazy (to each his own, but it's pretty unprofessional to talk like that to a potential customer you've never even met), and the majority of our 2 conversations was him talking about how he was the best realtor ever and if I chose to go with someone else I wasn't very smart. It's pretty uncharacteristic of me to write negative reviews. I don't know why my experience was so negative compared to everyone else's. I just thought I should share to let aspiring renters know that he may help you if he feels like it, or he may just b.s. and waste your time. read more

I definitely advise anyone who reads this to be careful - don't sign a lease through this guy! He will be super nice and friendly until you sign papers, then you will never hear back from him unless it's more for Money! Trying to sell my house was pure HELL!! Using the word HELL is in fact a generous word! Before meeting Mike we had a mediocre realtor who was new to the game. He wasn't aggressive and never shot things straight to me. I don't like beating around the bush and welcome all kinds of constructive criticism but couldn't get any of that from our old realtor. We ended up having to give our old realtor the boot. Through the grace of GOD Mike appeared from the clouds!!! Actually he was buds with my husband and he said, 'Hello I can help!!" He knew he was walking into a crap hole of a situation bc my house had been on the market for so long but he took that as a challenge! Needless to say Mike sold our flippin house!! I'm sure I drove him crazy with the numerous phone calls and the thousands of questions but Mike was patient with me and explained things to me in which I understood. Mike doesn't beat around the bush, but he's tasteful in his advice. He's had many years of experience and knows what it takes to sell a house. He made this really stressful situation a breath of fresh air. I would 100% recommend Mike to all my friends and family members and anyone reading this right now. Its scary and nerve-wrecking picking out a realtor. Crap, it was just as stressful as picking out a gynecologist, but it shouldn't have to be that way. I located Michael via Yelp -- and damn! I'm satisfied. Here's how the show went down: I called Michael, told him I was moving to Austin, had exactly one day to tour, select and apply for an apartment, and needed someplace super cheap. I expected I'd end up in someone's attic with pots and pans to catch the rainwater, but Michael set me up in a brand new complex with a double-decker pool, a cabana with monthly happy hours, and my own patio. And I didn't break my budget. The guy is a wizard. We're talking real Merlin / Gandolph stuff here. Highly recommended. read more

This is the second year that I have challenged Michael to find me an apartment and I can't sing his praises enough! Last year I decided that I wanted to move out on my own, not to say I still lived with my parents. I wanted a 1 bedroom/ 1 bathroom apartment that was all mine. The only problem was money. Well, that's not entirely true, money wasn't the real issue. The real issue was finding an apartment that was up to the standards I wanted (amenities galore), and within the confines of my budget (okay, a little to do with money)..... mission impossible! I appreciated how up-front he was with me in the beginning. He said it would be difficult, but that I need not worry about anything. He simply said, "the deal is out there, I know it, and we will find it." We found the perfect apartment!! I was on my own, and I could afford every bit of it! *deep sigh of relief* This year, my boyfriend has moved in with me and the 1 bedroom/ 1 bath needs to be more like a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath. Never ceasing to give Michael a run for his money, we needed a more central location (as he works in Cedar Park and I work downtown), all the wonderful amenities (because they make all this worthwhile!), and oh yeah....within a budget, of course! We're trying to safe for a house! Again, the miracle-worker comes through. My boyfriend and I are about to move into a beautiful new apartment, it has everything we were looking for, and is actually $6 shy of the budget we set out to stick with. Michael listens to what you are looking for, he takes the time to map things out for you, he is honest, and most importantly, he knows what he is talking about. I cannot express enough how great Michael Humphrey from Austin Apartment Guy is when it comes to locating the impossible. I gave him my extremely tough stipulations with a firm budget and he did everything in his power to make it work out. I kept changing my mind as I viewed the properties and Michael was able to improvise on the go like none other. Eventually, in the middle of the day after seeing what Austin had to offer, we had changed the entire geography, pricing, and amenity requirements than originally stated making it even more tough on him. Although we were so indecisive, it did not even seem to phase Michael. You can tell that this apartment hunter is well seasoned and knowledgeable of the Austin and surrounding areas. As we progressed throughout our journey, he became better at reading us and in turn was able to find us our dream apartment. I felt bad because we had kept him for several hours past our scheduled appointment time, but he did not make us feel like we were a burden whatsoever. Michael actually encouraged us to continue searching because at the end of the day, he was determined to make us feel like we had found the best possible place. That is just what happened and my fiance and I could not be any happier. I highly recommend his service to anybody looking for a place. Having a representative at these places makes a huge difference because they all try to keep you there for hours in order to convince you to lease. All you have to do is give Michael the signal that you are not interested and he will get you out of there and to the next property in a jiffy. There is no other way to find an Austin apartment suiting all your needs AND MORE then calling Michael(Austin Apartment Guy). After contacting several other apartment locators informing them of what we were looking for, for a family of 4 including a 3 and 10yr old. Safety and great schools being our 2 main priorities. You would not believe the crap they were e-mailing me,mind you now no phone calls no live people just e-mails. These so called locators had met their match having researched Ausin for almost a year I had a good idea of the areas and crime rates. They repeatedly sent me apartments in the highest crime areas and.with schools having poor ratings. Who would want to move 1800 miles and deal with something I already have to deal with. I know Austin has much more to offer. Frustrated..confused..I seen a review for Michael and figured give it one more shot. Michael called the next day..miracles can happen people.. He targeted the areas we were looking at without telling him before hand and he was dead on with his picks. With a few set backs on my end Michael still came thru. Awesome family area, great schools, island kitchen, with in budget...etc...etc.. He goes further than being just a locator he has filled us in on best places to eat, things to do, were to take the kids and more it's like you have a personal guide of Austin YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT AND YOU CAN'T DO IT WITHOUT MICHAEL.
