Super awesome brewery. I love the atmosphere at this place. The beers are really top notch. One beer that they had was called gold fist. It was a fire sale at $4 and it was a 9% beer. It was a Belgian style beer. Really light tasting but super strong. Another beer that I have was a blood work Orange IPA. This beer was really good and tasted like blood oranges. They also have a food truck on-site with good food. The staff were friendly and the vibe was really chill; we were able to hear ourselves talking while enjoying the background music playing. Megaflora has reinvigorated my love for IPAs, which waned heavily after I hit the quarter century mark. I think it's the hazy kind, and they mix it up with melony goodness (love melons - all kinds of melons). Your palate ends up fielding a fruity punch; no getting your jaw kicked in by puckering hops. Great shit. They made it year round too, with the badass stylized can design and all (most of those ones are seasonal only). With that being said, please offer La Verdad year round. Please These dudes' merch game is on point, they really need to take their little stylized logo print for the cans and sell it on more apparel. Whoever does their art is a fucking genius. I love my Cold Glory shirt and my Megaflora mask. I love my Lazer Salad pint glass cup thing. They have a bunch of badass koozie designs. Basically, their merch game is next level already, but I see so much potential. I guess they are keeping their operation relatively small scale, and there are only so many ppl who are going to buy brewery merchandise in central Texas, but I dunno. Love the art. At the end of the day, though, nobody is going to buy any merchandise if the beer sucks. Beerworks' beer does not suck. The new Eastern Philosophy beer they came out with is a great example of Austin Beerworks' beer not sucking. When I read it was a jasmine tea infused lager (I love jasmine tea) I had to check it out. Super solid, 7.5% but doesn't taste like it. You're supposed to drink it over ice. So novel, so well thought out, & so well executed. ABW's motto (I think) is "Hellbent on Excellence" and they are certainly living up to that standard. I'm so fortunate to live here in Austin with great breweries like ABW. I was at a group event on the patio outside. It's shaded and has misters and fans which make it comfortable even as the summer heat approaches. I am not a beer drinker, so I was delighted that they serve a couple of local ciders as well as frozen wine based drinks. I love that the water station is plastic reusable glasses and a water fountain- no waste. I ordered my food inside and then picked it up from the Cantina food truck next to the patio. Of the two tacos I ordered, the barbacoa and egg one was my favorite. The meat had so much flavor, and the eggs were delicious and generously portioned. The steak taco was good as well; the steak tender and juicy. I requested corn tortillas, but the tacos can also be served on flour instead. While I was chatting with some other people, a server came and cleared up our dishes, which was nice. The outdoor patio is dog friendly, and there is a play area for kids. read more

This is a great spot in north-central Austin to meet up with friends for an after-work beer. Generally plenty of parking around and on the street and it's not usually hard to get a seat. Good variety of brews, though with a couple noticeable absences when I was last there (e.g. a sour on tap). Picnic tables, pints, you basically know the drill. I had the Helles lager called "Super Awesome," and it was mos' def' SUPER awesome if you like the helles style lagers. I followed that one up with "Lotion in the Basket," a German Keller bier style - this one was my favorite. Just like many breweries, some of the beers are seasonal and may rotate in and out, so these might not be here when you visit. (the pints I had were $5 each) This brewery comes in at a VERY close second place to my favorite ATX brewery (Oskar Blues). They both get five stars from me, but I already said Oskar Blues was my favorite, so I can't back down on that statement. The only reason this one comes in at a second is because the food from the food truck just wasn't as good as Oskar Blues. It was still good, but not as good. But please don't make this a reason to skip out on the venue or even partake in the food truck eats. It's a fresh, new environment with plenty of room to hangout both inside and out. Picnic table style seating both inside and out. The outside patio has a cover on it to protect you from the sun, but not sure if it would keep the rain off of you or not (no smoking or vaping on the patio please!). Located in and industrial park and parking isn't too bad. They really play some cool, laid back jams on their indoor and outdoor speakers. Lots of the Reverend Al Green (yeah baby), some obscure Prince songs, and some Sly and the Family Stone. The tunes were really laid back and added to the experience. They own their own food truck that is kept on site at all times. If you are running a beer tab inside, you can walk outside, order your grub, and have them add it to your tab - that rocks! OR, you can find someone else who has a tab open and add your food to their tab (but who in the world would ever dot that?). They have burgers, sausage, tacos, and three vegetarian items to choose from. I had the vegan street tacos and they weren't too bad. They were corn, black bean, and avocado tacos served on corn tortillas. The tortillas were really good, but the black beans overpowered the flavor of everything else and the seasonings. I will give them credit though - they give you three lime wedges - yes, one for each taco folks - not everyone does that! They also have a great selection of apparel, stickers, branded trinkets, etc. When the temp is over 100 degrees F, beer is $1 off, they have free hot coffee, and 25% off tank tops, sweatbands, and sunglasses! read more

I feel conflicted giving a fairly low rating given I consistently think of ABW as one of the top handful of breweries in Austin, but I'm giving this as a rating of the taproom experience moreso than a rating of their beers. I've also only gone during Covid, so I'm looking forward to giving them a try in the future when I can comfortably get the full experience. Compared to other patios in the area I find theirs to be pretty lacking. There were no fans in the summer and no heat lamps in the winter. Their space isn't particularly large so there are fewer tables than other locations. This leads it to be uncomfortably packed on weekends, both in terms of how close tables are and the lack of distancing enforced in lines. One weird thing working against them is just how available their beer is around town. Every HEB and bar will have at least a couple of ABW's beers available, so they lose out on the necessity of going to the taproom to try their beers. Even their seasonals get around town pretty well both in stores and on tap elsewhere. On that note, and to not make this review totally negative, their beer is absolutely phenomenal. All their flagships are good to great examples of the style, my personal favorites are the Sun Shovel (think blue moon but with some hop prescence) and Fire Eagle (leans more towards West Coast IPA, but has enough juiciness to be really refreshing in the summer time). Their seasonals also absolutely knock it out of the park. Sputnik (Coffee Oatmeal Stout) is an absolute must if you're in Austin in December and is probably the best beer I've had since moving here. The Heisenberg (a combination of a Pilsner and Hef) and Black Thunder (Black Lager) are two other stand outs to me. The food truck is good enough that if you need something to snack on while you're there you won't be totally dissatisfied, but I've usually felt compelled to go elsewhere for food. Overall, can't recommend their beer enough, but you don't need to visit the taproom to get the full experience. read more

Definitely a solid spot to taste a wide vary of their signature and seasonal beers on tap. Austin Beerworks (AB) is not only a great spot to catch up with your friends; however, it's family friendly AND DOG FRIENDLY. There is so much seating inside and outside, and I truly love how the outside is now fully covered since my last visit. You'll also find a food truck that is now owned by AB. The food truck offers burgers, tacos, sausage, and bratwurst. If you happen to have an open tab in the pour room, you can add your food tab onto your overall tab. Super convenient and much appreciated. I opted for the bratwurst on a kaiser roll which went for about $9 and an order of fries for $5. The bratwurst was cooked nicely and I really enjoyed it. It was actually a great bite and quite filling. As a fan of fries, you gotta order a side of them here. They had some seasoning that gave them a nice kick. For those of y'all who have a sweet tooth that gives the tooth fairy a run for her money then rest assured they have lick ice cream sandwiches available for purchase. If you're not one for spending money on food and prefer more of a liquid meal, AB has you covered with complimentary popcorn. While we were there on a Saturday afternoon they were offering a complimentary tour; however, you must have closed toe shoes. The beers are great and I enjoyed a few glasses (don't judge me) of their seasonal cherry sour and a fire eagle IPA. For a dollar more you can get a 16oz pour instead of a 12oz pour. Might I add their 12oz pours go for $4! Great experience and recommend it if you're looking for a casual afternoon with a great ambience. read more

I really want to love this place but their service is just terrible. Every single time I come, they make it feel like it's an inconvenience to them that I need a minute to order or if I have a question, they make it seem like I should have their menu memorized. They do have a larger beer selection for local breweries, parking is hit and miss, outdoor seating is mostly shaded. Inside is picnic seating. There's a food truck here if you get hungry. I feel ok bringing my dogs here. The service is just that bad that I can't recommend them as much as their beer gives them credit for. read more

This place is a great place for a large group of friends to come and hang out after work or weekends. It has a good truck with quite a selection of food. I had the Bratwurst and it was good. I lived in Germany for 15 years and it was quite similar. They have a large selection of beer and unique tastes. We tried the Electric Jelly Donut beer and it was amazing. As the beer warmed up, it actually tasted like a jelly donut!! You have to try it. The crowd seemed more hipster/modern but enjoyable. They also have merchandise for sell.
