I miss Great Hall Games. This place is a nice replacement even though it only has D&D figures and not Games of War. I think it is cool they have meetups at least 4 times a week themed in various ways for like minded gamers to get together and play. Selection is pretty darn amazing. I saw games I had not seen before. The staff was active and helpful where he could be. He helped me find things but did not know much about the games themselves...at least not the ones I asked about. But hey...they have A LOT of games! Like a librarian, it takes a while to gain the knowledge of everything you have on tap. I will definitely be making my purchases here rather than go online and have it delivered. It is nice to have a place like this in town where you can touch the product. Outlaw Moon probably wouldn't exist without it's next door neighbor Austin Books & Comics, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't check in whenever you're in the neighborhood. Games, classic collectible toys, and even miniatures all add up to the perfect compliment to an unrivaled stash of comics and graphic novels. I do wish the emphasis was more directed at games and a game playing area would be a nice addition, but I really can't complain. This appears to be the sister store to the comic shop around the corner from here. It's a small store and there's not a lot here but I'm not really the target demographic. They have some vintage toys in the display cases. I have the dinosaur they're selling back there. I didn't have any issues with the employees. I didn't get anything but it was cool to look around for a bit. read more

Very disappointed with my experience at Outlaw. I was at first excited about finding a local game shop to support. Despite the prices being more than online. I went in to purchase Scythe, $200 later, I was convinced to buy the two expansions. After the first play through of the main game, we decide to return the unopened expansions. Well, apparently even when within 2 weeks, with receipt, and unopened. You can only return for store credit only. The sign stating this, is not facing the customer, but mostly hidden behind a display. It's disappointing, store policies and customer service like this push people to buy stuff online. I'd rather buy local. read more

The store has a good selection in figurines. Just about wall to wall in fact. There are board & card games (such as Cards Against Humanity and Say Anything) including a ton of Star Wars items. The display case at the front also has a few nostalgic pieces that if you grew up in the respective eras you may be inclined to bring up old stories starting with, "I remember when..." (Guilty as charged!) On another note, and in attempting to buy an early birthday gift for someone in our group, my babygirl & I pretended we forgot something inside and turned back. We made our purchase and I suppose unlike a cool superhero, we were blatantly obvious in trying to rush and hide the gifts we bought. The employee at the register honed in on it and asked something along the lines of, "Trying to buy something for someone that's waiting outside on ya'll?" We both responded, "YES!" He then added, "Andddd you don't want them to see it, right?" We again responded, "NOPE!" He giggled and said he'd been in that situation before. We all had a really good laugh out of it - we just really enjoyed the friendly customer service! :) read more

I went in here with my fiance before we stopped in Austin Books and Comics and seriously it was bad-ass! My fiance is a toy collector and he was like a little kid in a candy store. I thought the store was organized well. Their prices were comparative to other specialty toy shops. They also had some hard to get vintage stuff at great prices. If you are looking for Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Fraggle Rock, Wrestling, The Simpsons, Ninja Turtles, Transformers ... they have it plus so, so much more! They have an awesome display case up front that is like an art exhibit too! The staff here is super friendly and informative. They know toys! I know where I will be coming back to buy birthday and Christmas presents for the toy person in my life. Austin Books and Comics have expanded their empire AGAIN. The one-two punch of ABC and Guzu Gallery has recently become a trifecta with the addition of Outlaw Moon. All the board games, card games, and vintage action figures from ABC have found a home here. I found that most of the current games they carry are pretty similar to stock at other local game stores. Their vintage selection of games and toys is where they shine the most. A nice, cozy little store with friendly employees. Such a great spot to find board games! The variety is insane, and they have tables out with a lot of board games that are new or popular that you can actually test with your friends! Staff is super friendly as well and willing to give you recommendations. (Try Sushi Go or Bang! They're fun games.) They also sell Pokemon cards including a lot of really rare first edition cards, and some posters and action figures in the back. This place is great! Most people in this day and age of grade inflation would give them "six stars"! Outlaw Moon carries almost every game you could want at decent prices for retail. They also have tables set up with dozens of games out for shoppers to "try before you buy." The staff is friendly and helpful, and very relaxed. Refreshments are available to sustain you through your extended "trying before I buy" gaming sessions. :-) There are a few other locally owned gaming stores in town that also earn a four star rating, but Outlaw moon is the only one left in this part of town. Highly recommended! My only complaint is that they have funky inconsistent business hours. Check the sign before you go early or late. read more

This is such an awesome little shop! Knowledgable and helpful staff. Clean and organized. Such a huge variety of board and card games. They have the "basics" like monopoly, etc. But they have so many other unique games. I love their selection and could browse for hours! My only frustration is that the price points seem a little high. Coming from a small business myself, I understand the need for markups but admiring a game and seeing a $75 price tag can be a heart breaker. Can't wait to come back and browse some more and add to my collection. read more

This store is relatively small in size, but it's packed with amazing toys and games! They even carry my coveted Adventure Time Card Wars packs, which I had a hard time finding elsewhere. The staff are always super helpful, and there are a few games sitting out that you can play in the store. Also, just so you know, it's out back behind the comic store, near the Kava bar - don't be like me and wander the comic store for 10 minutes before realizing there's no way to enter Outlaw Moon from inside. read more

If people pay that price they are getting ripped off. They get the prices off by the internet. If a guest ask about a certain thing they have to look it up online first to give you an answer. Okay I have to say this place is super fun!!! Went with my brother in law and my nephew who is a serious Star Wars fan. (His name is Anakin!) The guys who work there are really cool and talked to us about all the different stuff and how exciting it is finding new things for the store. I will second the notion that the prices are way out of line here. While I am happy to support local business, I am not happy to pay literally twice as much as I should just for the privilege of dealing with a somewhat helpful but mostly disengaged store worker. Nice store. Lots of retro toys and games. Some of the pricing is out of line with reality. Bought a game and found out I was overcharged. Called to ask why is was twice as much as everywhere else and the manager decided to laugh and explain the economics of wholesale to me. I have been a regular customer, but this really soured me on giving them any more money. read more
