Day 2...quest for Black Panther (Marvel Comic books) for my nephew for his birthday. Thus, I landed at Austin Books & Comics. My first impression...wow...this comic bookstore is super well organized. Large font hanging placards make it very easy to peruse rows of comics, graphic novels, and collectibles. The prices of the comic books were reasonable. One of the highlights of my visit was finally finding Black Panther Marvel comics after being on the hunt for them. Austin Books & Comics had a solid selection, making it clear they care about stocking both popular titles and meaningful characters. Seeing Black Panther prominently represented felt especially rewarding, and it turned my visit into a successful and memorable one. In addition, one of the sales representatives pointed me to the Black Panther section of comic books. Today, I learned that most comic books come out about monthly and they come in a series. For Black Panther, they had 4 comic books in the series. Now, I need to consult with my brother to determine which ones I should purchase for my nephew. Happy to have found the comics I have been searching for....

From the minute you walk through the front doors you know you've entered an inclusive and loving environment. You don't even have to be a major comic nerd like my boyfriend to feel the warmth and sincerity from the folks who work here. It's clear that for them it's not work but a labor of love. Every single staff member is super knowledgeable about everything from mainstream to the most obscure. The store is immaculate. In fact like that old saying, "you could eat off the floors" immaculate. It's a big and spacious store with lots of room to move around and not be on top of other customers while browsing and perusing. They carry recent issues for all of the popular comics as well as indie comics, lgbtq comics, graphic novels, etc. The back issues section is pretty extensive too. You're bound to find what you're looking for and if not, they can order almost anything. Really nice selection of collectibles, figures, and POPS. This is a great place to get lost for a few hours...or to buy your dog Krypto gear since he is his double after all.

I like this shop there's a huge selection of books and comics. Unfortunately I couldn't find what I wanted but you know that's just the game we play looking for specific comics. Handful of people working in here they were nice and helpful . Even pointed me in the direction where I might find something I was interested in. There's a lot of cool stuff in the shop. Signed up for an account so I can check out what's gonna be coming in the future. Exciting! Picked up a Black Cat Art Germ variant, it's pretty cool, I'm happy with it. Stoked to find a comic shop that has a bigger selection.

This store is located in a very small strip center, but don't let that fool you as it is very spacious inside. I would estimate it to be about 3000 ft.² or more. The only drawback to this place is the very limited parking spaces out front. There are tens of thousands of comic books on display. Everything is very well displayed and merchandised. They also have T-shirts, action figures, and books. If you have some comics to sell, they may purchase them, but call first to see if a buyer is available before you arrive. Otherwise you can send photos of your items to brandon@austinbooks.com. This place is definitely a destination point for the comic book Collector.

They had a lot of comics that I needed, and didn't even know were made. They even had cool statues. Good service and well recommended. Especially if you're looking for a lot of back issues.

    The 3 comics I got.

The inside is very nice and very clean. The employees are extremely helpful and nice. Unfortunately the comic I was looking hasn't released yet but I found 3 comics I liked and got those. I really suggest you come here.

It's pretty easy to find a comic book store pretty much anywhere now a days, however it's not super easy to find one as big, stocked, and awesome as Austin Books & Games. From the second I walked into this store I was completely overwhelmed with the amount of awesome that was in front of me. This place has an insane amount of comics from all time periods to chose from, from Archie, Superman, and Ghost Rider to The Flash, The Walking Dead, and the Fantastic Four. What really impressed me was the insane toy collection that was towards the back side of the store. They have a ton of glass cabinets full of models (mostly marvel and DC stuff), and next to that there are a ton of different racks with in package toys such as Batman, X-Men, and and the big box Marvel collectibles. This store is insane, plain and simple. The selection here is unmatched in the area and I can't help but give this place five stars for being such an amazing shop.

Graphic novel time? This is the place! They offer a huge selection of comics and there is always something new waiting there to discover. Miss Sophia loves their big selection of pins. We definitely recommend a visit.

If I've said it once I've said it a thousand times: Austin Books and Comics is absolutely the best comic book shop in Austin, in Texas, and, quite probably, in the entire Southwest. If they don't have it in stock or they can't get it for you then why on Earth do you even want it?

: You talk about rare items, at great prices. Plus it really is worth subscribing to them. I mean these guys rock, they rock my balls off! For those of us that are stuck here with the same "mimic book" stores in San Antonio it really is worth going up the road and just seeing what they have now I have yet to go in there and negotiate because I'm big on Golden age stuff but the day will come. Check out the cool item they sold me

    Love this place.

From the outside, it sits quietly in a North Austin shopping center near Hop Doddy's. If you blink, you might miss it. Once you step through the doors, you feel transported to a totally different place like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the Harry Potter story. You find shelves of comics, books, games...everywhere your imagination can take you. Dragon's Lair has been part of the Austin community since 1986. You feel a rush to flip through comics, try on costumes or transport yourself to a fantasy land. New releases co-exist with long loved series. Graphic novels, tabletop games, miniatures, dice, and collectibles are readily available. The prices at Dragon's Liar appear reasonable. According to the store manager, the tables within the store are reserved for Magic tournaments, Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) campaigns, and board games spread across tables. The energy is welcoming fostering collaboration between new and existing players. The shop cats, Diana and Brigid, wander through aisles like they own the place, which makes Dragon Liar feel homey and welcoming. The store stays open late sometimes, acknowledging that games and stories don't always fit neatly into set hours. Dragon's Lair is huge, busy, sometimes overwhelming in a good way. It reflects Austin's creative culture...inclusive, and deeply passionate.

The music was great and he was very informative about what I was looking for. Nicely hooked me up with their monthly program so I can get all the comics I needed, and they were on point for about six months. Then comes my birthday, very excited to bring my son in and grab my monthly comics. I called the shop on the day of my birthday and the lady owner answered the phone, at this point I have met all the gentleman and just wanted to introduce myself. Me: " Hello who am I speaking with? Her: " I didn't give a name" Me: " correct that's why I'm asking" Her: what can I do for you" Me: " id like to know who I'm speaking with please" Her " This is Kings Cache" Me" I understand that I'm a new member and just checking in on my comics" then her tune changed. Graciously she wanted to be friendly instead of acknowledging me from the beginning and being secretive and ominous. All of this came from her with a very cantankerous attitude and resistance to lead with the right customer service. They have caller ID there, so usually when I call the fellas already acknowledge me but name. Can't believe the fake high road this lady wanted to drive on. I've had nothing but great experiences and then I call and she gives me two shades of gray. Buyer beware, they are nice til they grab ya, then ounce they have you, the care to get to know you or give you the respect you deserve is obsolete. The one gentleman is great the other two could care less for you. Austin Books and Comics and Batcity comics have now graciously taken my business. Which is good because if I see another funko pop my head will explode. Stick with dolls and leave the comics to the big boys. Just because it's a hobby doesn't mean you have to give it a bankers mentality. Ebay, Other stores and Collector conventions offer too much competition. Be better humans. You made this guy feel awful on a day that was so important you won't realize. At the end of the day you just had to be nice, you know who you were and to that my circles and collectors corners will not drive from hill country anymore to spend our disposable income. Thank goodness Batcity just opened up. Can get two more comics for the gas saved!!! I hope this helps do better, because I'm still reeling and this message doesn't do what I witnessed justice.
