I went on a scavenger hunt with Austin Detours as part of a work trip. This one of our fun planned activities together and was my favorite! I was initially worries that since I didn't know much about Austin it would make it difficult to participate yet each activity was tailored in a way no matter what your knowledge was, you could be apert of it. The leader of our group was Kandace who I immediately was having a fun time as soon as I met her and our other leader was Trace. I am super impressed with their leadership styles to walk into a group no knowing the dynamic and launch us into a fun filled afternoon. Trace was very knowledgeable, fair and kept our whole group on track while Kandace had me laughing in the back of the bus for hours. Honestly her wit was something to be reckoned with. Their bright personalities had me on a happiness high that lasted the rest of the day and their commitment to making sure we had our best time in Austin was deeply appreciated. I've never met employees before that were so genuinely commited to their mission whole heartly. We walked away with stickers, recommendation cards, they steered us in the right direction for quick amazing BBQ, all around will not forget. Highlight of my trip. We were a group of 6 friends visiting Austin for the first time. If you want a short 2 hour tour to get to know ALL the ins and outs of Austin, this is it!!! First off... the 411 Location: They are located right in the Austin Visitor Center. Very easy to find! We got there early to make sure we knew where it was then hit the Hyatt next door for some breakfast. Other small coffee shops also available. Parking: Sorry, we caught an Uber so not sure- btw... it seems Austin is Uber city as parking can be a pain in the happening areas. Only like $5 bucks to zoom here and there from our hotel (Four Seasons) Cost: $39 per person for about 2-2 1/2 hour tour Tour: We arrived and were in a van with about 5 other people. Van is clean and they provide cold bottled water for you. The tour takes you through the main areas of Austin. Stops at a few "picture" stops as well as the Capital where you get to go in for a while. Tour Guide: This is why I gave them 5 stars, our tour guide Jason Weems was amazing!!!! He is such a cool dude! We learned more about Austin from him then our friends who live there knew! Such fun little stories about the history. You can't beat this tour! You feel like it is a private one on one tour with the city expert at your fingertips. Had a short time in Austin and wanted to see the highlights. Joey was an awesome guide, knowledgeable, had brunches of info and trivia, until he briskly brushed aside a lost traveler, not with our group, that asked him a question. Your guides are ambassadors to the city and for someone to not take the time to answer a fellow travelers question, is a bad look. It really made me see Joey, Austin Detours and the city, in a different light. Taking a moment to help someone who was lost shows compassion, kindness and caring. read more

Austin Detours came through for us. We were looking for a custom tour from Austin to Fredericksburg, to visit the National Museum of the Pacific War. Austin Detours came through for us, and set up an all day tour that started with picking us up at our hotel. The paperwork was handled via internet, very easy to set up and certify. Our guide Nick had a wealth of commentary about the hill country of Texas as we drove there. This was an area of Texas we'd never visited before. In addition to getting us to the Museum, he pointed out a wonderful restaurant for our lunch and made the reservations for us. And he was very patient in taking some pictures of us. The Pacific War Museum was a real gem. We are grateful to Austin Detours for making it possible for us to travel out there and see it. A first class operation! read more

Our group scheduled the Real Austin Tour. Our guide, Nick, was great. He was at the meeting spot early, he was friendly, and did a good job getting us around the city. The tour was mostly driving with him pointing out different sights and areas of interest. I think the best way to describe it is getting an overview of the major hangout spots/areas, being familiar with where they are and what they offer. He had some good recommendations for food and music venues, which we appreciated. I'm not sure we would have missed any of the areas explored on the tour (6th street, east Austin, Rainey, south Congress). It's still nice to be able to focus on taking it all in and looking for interesting places while someone else is driving though. There are details and trivia that he provided that would be missed as well, had we gone on our own. read more

We took a quick weekend getaway for my wife's 50th Birthday with a few family members to Austin, TX. Our tour guide (Jax) was excellent with the best personality and energy that made our City Highlights Tour one of the best tours we have taken on any of our vacations. Holy cow! This was an excellent peek at Austin's music scene. I'm a musician, and I was a bit worried that the tour would take us to the party scene on East Sixth. Nope. We hit the real joints. Ike was great: funny, friendly, informative. Hell, he remembered everyone's names. He even sent links to other stuff that I asked him about. What a great ambassador for Austin, the music scene, and your company. And the driver was wonderful, too. The van was terrif and cozy. The other folks on the tour were fellow travelers. We went on two tours with Austin Detours, both with Steve and had a good time. The two hour city tour is very worth it to get an idea of the different areas of Austin, some history and a tour of the Capitol which was a nice treat. Nothing was rushed, just the right amount of time at the stops. The Salt Lick and wine tour was also nice. Although, we were very disappointed in the beef ribs at the Salt Lick after all the type for this restaurant, (that is not Steve's fault), the wineries Steve selected were quite nice. Both with excellent wine, views and atmospheres. Should we be in the Austin area again, we would definitely take another tour with Steve! read more

My husband and I went on the Hill Country BBQ & Wine Shuttle tour and loved it. Evan was an amazing guide / chauffeur. He was funny, informative and a great photographer, lol. On the drive to and from the BBQ and vineyards, he would point out unique things about Austin which was great to hear and learn about. He also took the time to ask us what we were all interested in seeing and doing while we were all visiting and gave us each personalized recommendations for places to eat or to go visit which was really going above and beyond. We were from Dallas so we were somewhat familiar with Austin, but there were people from Colorado, Minnesota and Kentucky so I'm sure they appreciated getting some suggestions if they had some free time. The BBQ at the Salt Lick was wonderful and it was such a cool place overall. We also enjoyed both vineyards, but we definitely liked the Duchman Family Winery more than the Fall Creek Vineyards, but that was just our personal preference. Evan also made a point of taking pics of each of us in our group at the vineyards which I really appreciated since my husband and I don't usually get the opportunity to get those pics taken. Overall, this was a wonderful tour, but Evan definitely made it even more special. read more

My boyfriend and I took this tour for our one year anniversary, and it was fantastic. We started the day at the Salt Lick for some amazing tx BBQ, which was perfect because we didnt start day drinking on an empty stomach. Then we visited two amazing wineries that had fantastic choices and they were so beautiful. The day wouldn't have been made without the tour guide though. Jax was the perfect tour guide!
