I-35 goes all the way from Laredo to Minneapolis, and even further north into Canada. This section of it through Austin is especially perilous, as the entrance ramps are so tiny through the section where I-35 splits into two levels near University of Texas. You need some get up and go power in your hoopty to get up to speed, if and when the section is up to speed. Otherwise, prepare to sit and wait and wait. I try to avoid I-35 when I can. There's even a new toll road that will help you get around this mess of a highway. Be sure to listen to Pat Green's "Southbound 35" while travelling upon this infamous roadway.

The exact type of evidence is REAL WRITTEN DOCUMENTARY evidence that demands protection during receipt, storage, transfer , disposition and disposal. The OPO is a duplicate office of the APD internal affairs but a far less competent and far below satisfactory performing agency. But the APD internal affairs cant be trusted to investigate dirty police. That is why the city commits waste and abuse duplicating agency in place office. The OPO lost the evidence , then fabricated excuses , then lied but have said im " banned " from the building. Banned is comparable to a rock song from guns and roses. Banned due to words used and verb-age. This is only introduction. There is plenty meat to outrage over. Pending At this point i have 2 open case with the city of Austin Office of Police Oversite. 10/20/22 my pov was towed from a paid parking space. It was on my Chase Bank debit card. I was assigned a case worker and to date there has been no official response to why my pov was towed despite paid to park status. Led Zeppelin would say "Its been a long time since I rock and rolled." But in thos case with Austin OPO ots just 3 years due. Back to case number 2. I slight storm entered and left the 78750. Im driving my 2008 Dodge south between Lake Creek and Spicewood Springs Im in my own lane and stayed there. From behind i am hit by late model Cadillac Denali. Right away the driver is trying to evade contact. I get out of my pov at great risk and locate white in color SUV. That is how i will refer to at fault vehicle going forward. I make contact with 60-65 yoa white man with his window down. He agrees to meet in strip mall parking lot. Ive snapped a picture of his tag and have my documents in hand. I get close enough to observe a heavy odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. I am dialing 911. As his breath knocks me over , he starts his car and is leaving. The 911 operator tells me " no police available and orders me NOT TO FOLLOW. The driver gets away. The city of Austin has a responsibility to man 911 with trained competent emergency operators. They do not, did not and will not. 911 tracks all police officers 24/7 and know exacting location of all on duty police. Its not even a new technology. Its been around for decades. There is an officer on scene at a less priority call that can break free and look for two tons of steel on wheels operated by a drunk. That is a weapon that will /can/would/might wipe out you and family. The entire handling of this has been a ridiculous escapade of emergency service failure. I completed a APD affidavit issued to me by OPO. I got it notarized and took it to the OPO. I hand delivered to OPO and went on my way. No receipt was issued and that was OPO failure 1. A piece of notarized affidavit issued a written piece of real evidence . It requires a CHAIN OF CUSTODY. The mishandling of evidence brings instant credibility issues to the OPO. The unwillingness to do a job as assigned and required by a civilian assistant to then COP Chacon is unacceptable and stands alone on its own dis merit. Janet Jackson is performing superstar. She is from my hometown. Its only reason I know who the administrative assistant that wont do her job a few years ago. Right away I experienced barriers to effective communication from the OPO. On two separate instances , i drove to OPO and made contact with front desk. It was summer and I was advised the office was closed due to AC issues. Yet most or some other offices were open. I really dont know much else at this point. The next time I went to the OPO I eas advised the affidavit was lost /misplaced/thrown away or discarded with no known location available. Never again did I come aware the OPO ever had the paperwork. This has transpired pver a few years and I KNOW THAT DUI fatal accidents proliferate on the streets and highways of Austin, Texas. Its going on NOW. My car was total loss. Never recovering at all from impact of felony hit and run primarily SCREWED up by 911 dispatcher upon initial report. During first year of my case the OPO director was tired of dealing with me and i was advised by front security desk that am banned Director Ellis was advised of my intent and presence and came dowm out of his own office in person. Ellis is a veteran USMarshall agent. He should absolutely know how to receive, safeguard, process, transfer and dispose of REAL DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE. But Ellis took wasted LEO resource and called on duty APD to trespass me. The APD arrived on scene and DID NOT TRESPASS ''me because he is street cop and know im not there as hobby. If you're like me and seek such places out, this is one not to be missed. I remember seeing it for the first time ten years ago and being in awe of it. Now that I live here, the appreciation of the architecture goes even deeper. I love the view of it when walking the Butler trail. Couple of facts: Built in 1930. In 1978 it was dedicated to James Buford who died in the line of duty six years prior. In 2021 a deliberately set fire at the bottom of the building caused massive damage. It's since been completed restored back to its original elements (2023). It's got a bell tower and you can hear the bells ringing everyday. It's now a memorial to firefighters, EMTs, etc. in Austin. So again, if you're into historical monuments and architecture this is something worth checking out.

If you live in Austin, an assessment of your property by the Wildfire Division of our Fire Department may be free, especially if you live near a wooded area or are part of an HOA. Today, I had a highly useful meeting with a wildfire mitigation specialist. Our mutual goal: to determine the vulnerabilities of my tiny HOA that sits alongside a wooded area and discuss ways to address them. We spoke about creating defensible spaces, evacuation procedures, what to do if there's a fire nearby and ways to make it easier for the fire department to do its work. I learned that rubber mulch and rubber doormats (both present at our HOA!) are extreme fire hazards. We checked out the pergola and the vine climbing around it. How to monitor skylights and identify fire "ladders" in wooded landscapes. We also discussed how to select meeting places in a crisis. I realized that my previously selected venue was ridiculous, with only one road in and out, and in a wooded area, to boot. Duh! We all watched Los Angeles go up in flames. Austin is not immune. Tens of thousands of homes here sit in areas where development meets wildland, and Austin consistently ranks among the top U.S. cities at risk for wildfire damage. Those numbers stop being abstract when it's a fire on your own street. This meeting was not alarmist or preachy. It was... empowering! If you live near green space and have not had a wildfire mitigation conversation yet, I strongly encourage you to do it while you still have the luxury of time. Check out their website. The memorial was held at the Austin City Hall because it is where the Mayor and City Council meets on a regular basis. The current building was completed in 2004, but looks relatively new. Mayor Kirk Watson shared some opening remarks. Congressmen, commissioners, representatives, senators and other politicians were all present to pay their respects. The room was packed with standing room only. Nothing but the most glowing comments were made. It was so heartwarming to hear how such a wonderful life he lived. This memorial caused me to reflect. Am I living my life where individuals would say wonderful things about me when I make my exit? Do I lead my life as a servant leader? Have I given to charitable efforts enough? Only will the people that I leave behind will get to determine the answer to these questions. Let us all live our lives in a way make a positive indelible impact on this world.

Very unprofessional, unpleasant experience. Does the city of Austin send employees to rude school? Really unacceptable! Security guard at front desk seems to be trained to say "NO" and little else to residents requests for assistance and information. Also, I felt like I was treated like a presumed criminal. Austin City Hall is definitely not welcoming to city of Austin residents and taxpayers.

I think in all the times I have come here only twice have I been called back significantly late from my appointment time. Normally I'm called on time or maybe five minutes after max. The front desk runs like a well oiled machine, and everyone is friendly. Oh! Parking can get tricky, but I can usually find a spot, give your self some time to park and walk up if you end up outside the parking lot.

We were warned of upcoming inclement weather on Friday, January 23rd. This is when folks ensure they have the Styrofoam coverings on their outside faucets and their outdoor plants are covered and potted plants are brought inside. We were planning book club at our home on Saturday that had to be postponed to another date. Basically, any plans for Saturday were thwarted. So we laid low on Saturday and did not leave our home. The really severe weather happened between Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Saturday night we could hear the sleeting and on Sunday morning we woke to a yard filled with snow. On Sunday, most churches promoted virtual services including our own. So again on Sunday we did not venture out. By Monday temperatures were predicted to warm up, but did not as planned. Thus. Monday was another day indoors. The Austin Travis County Emergency Management throughout the duration of the inclement weather has repeatedly sent texts asking folks to "avoid non-essential travel." They also suggested protecting "people, pets, pipes and plants," 4 P's It is looking like Tuesday maybe another day inside. We are so thankful for no disconnection of electricity or water. These alerts provide great value as they help you adequately prepare for inclement weather.

I could list a bunch of businesses in this review, but, it's more exciting to venture out on your own and find your flavor. Da Rizzle carries its own unique vibe to the surrounding area. It is surrounded by fast growing communities like Georgetown, Pflugerville, and, Austin. All of which have an interesting history. Like the Capital city, RR hosts it's own festivals, just not near as many. Whatever vibe you're looking for in a Suburban City, you're bound to find something to fit your fancy in Da Rizzle.
