Great service from Gutter King ... We have several large oaks around the perimeter of our home. Gutter King installed one of their gutter guard products all around the house. They cleaned, realigned, sealed, and repaired all the gutters and downspouts before installing the leaf guards. They also replaced a couple of sections of gutter damaged by the oaks during the ice storm a couple of years ago. The gutters and guards look great and appear very high quality--we'll see how things function during the next storm, but confident they'll work as advertised. I was very pleased with the level of service and the follow-up from the sales guy/estimator, Jon, to the installer, Edward.  Edward was just outstanding and did the entire installation himself, working one and a half days to complete the job. One very hardworking guy. Professional, personable, with a great attitude and work ethic. I've now used Austin Gutter King for two houses, and neither experience has disappointed. They were quick to schedule an estimate appointment as well as the actual install. The install staff was fast and efficient. They offered several price points for options in different price budgets, didn't pressure me into anything, and overall were a pleasure to work with. We never had any issues with the first set of gutters that we had for 13 years before moving. I've only had the second set for a month, but no issues there either. A few months ago there was a truly bizarre hail storm in our area (raining down rather large hail "balls"). This storm was so formidable it damaged our roof as well our gutters. Consequently my husband and I had to replace both the roof as well our entire gutter system (inclusive of leaf guard). Austin Gutter King provided us with an exemplary gutter product. I needed to take down a downspout for some unrelated work and their quote was reasonable, but still high enough you may be well served buying a cheap rivet gun and some replacement rivets up from the local manufacturer. read more

AGK installed gutters over a paver patio that was put in in November of 2020. Gutters look great. Several pavers had large gouges taken out of them with loose rock still in the newly damaged holes. I called the next day to discuss the damage, I was told that they were like that before they started the job. They absolutely were not. He said he'd check with a manager and call me back. Once again AGK came through. Debris had become lodged in one of our downspouts. After reviewing a brief video captured in a hard spring rain the technician that came out immediately took after the problem. The location was quickly identified and repaired. Interestingly the backup did not manifest itself at the site of the clog but significantly further back in the gutter system. AGK had installed our new gutters and downspouts a couple years back after the original gutters were wiped out in a severe hailstorm. The look and efficiency of their product is so far better than the original product. Now this event shows their customer support to be exemplary as well. These guys are just awesome. I wish I had a short story (TL;DR) version of this, but I can't seem to sum it up any more. My experience with AGK has not been totally positive in the past, but I highly respect businesses that handle issues in a dignified manner... Gary called me today and was completely civil, even though I left AGK a one-star review just yesterday. The reason I did that was because I thought Austin Gutter King was being dishonest (and, not to mention, hiding my honest review where I gave them three stars). Yelp's filtering system is hiding 23 positive reviews (you can see them at the bottom of the page), many of which are from active Yelpers (as opposed to one-time posters). The owner, frustrated that positive reviews by active Yelpers are hidden while fake reviews are allowed, has tried to resolve this issue with Yelp to no avail. They won't let him delete his business and won't acknowledge issues with their filter (which I've also discussed with Yelp in the past). Because of this, the owner is trying to distance Austin Gutter King from the bias of Yelp's filter by changing information. read more

I have used them on three different occasions mainly because I wanted quality gutters that fit in with the trim. I had them do front, back, and back porch, including hooking up to rain barrels. I called for a bid for installing gutters on a house that had never had them, and was experiencing drainage issues because of it. Why do builders sell a house without gutters? Added cost. That must be part of why there's always a waiting list to get gutters in this town. Jon, one of their salesmen, responded the same day to my call, came out that week to measure and show me options, and put together a clear, detailed, and competitive estimate very quickly. He was knowledgeable and professional, and made recommendations based on the slope of my roof, the grade of the lot, and the goal of getting the rainwater to drain off the roof, around the house, and out to the street. His estimate included photos of each side of my house with red lines where the gutters would go, itemized costs, and a total that was competitive with the other major company I've used in the past. Part of why I chose AGK instead was that the estimate was so clear. I received an email from the office saying that I was added to the installation queue, which could take a couple of weeks, and that they would call to give me the installation day when It was nigh. I had to pay half up front and wait. Not my favorite way to do business, but I went with it. In the meantime, we experienced torrential rains and I had water lapping at the shores of the foundation, and they were nice enough to make sure that my installation was prioritized. The installer showed up on time, worked diligently all day, and my gutters look great. We did have an issue with a couple of things, and their quality inspector gladly fixed those when he came out a couple of weeks later to inspect the job. He remained my main point of contact throughout the job and expectations were always clear. Well, these guys DID keep me waiting. But let me start from the beginning: I needed gutters on the back of my (not very big) house. So I got two estimates: Austin Gutter King and Gutter Tech. AGK's estimate was not only a bit lower than Gutter Tech's, but their estimator was far more professional and was on time and excellent with his follow-through for sealing the deal. But then, things went a bit south. After I faxed in the signed work order and my money for 1/2 the work amount, I never heard from them again. In fact, I called the estimator and left a message saying, "Hey...um...yeah. I'd like to get this work scheduled, so please give me a call." But my phone didn't ring until nearly a week later when I got a message from a guy named Dave who said, "We'll be there tomorrow between 10 am and 2pm to install your gutters." Well, it just happened that I was taking that day off of work (having just gotten back from vacation...which is where I was when they left the message and why I was a bit anxious to get the work on the calendar in the first place), so I was cool with them coming during the window of time he'd indicated. So, next day, 10am comes and goes. At almost 11am, I call Dave and ask what's up. He explains that "the crew is having issues with an install in Buda because of the wind," but that I'm up next, and it shouldn't be long. But to be sure I'm not waiting around, he asks for my cellphone number ensuring that they will call me when they're on their way. Noon. 1pm. 2pm. No call. I leave to go to an eye doctor appointment at 2pm, and luckily my fiance is willing to sit around and wait on the Gutter King. I finish up with my appointment, and arrive home about an hour later and see the King's van parked outside the house, and the gate to the back yard open. They had arrived about 2:40, and hadn't bothered to call me ahead of time. So I guess we're all just lucky that WE went out of our way to make sure WE were at home when it fit in to THEIR schedule. I'm sorry, but that's fucked. I hate it when service companies who you're paying your hard-earned dough to jerk you around like this. If I had any balls at all, I should've called Dave at 2pm and said, "They're not here. You haven't called. Cancel this job and send my check back." But I didn't. My only hope is that their bread and butter--which is word of mouth--catches up with them. (That's what Yelp is for, yes?) By the way, the gutters are installed and look great, which is the only reason they're getting two stars from me. However, I should mention that when the crew was finished, they just left. Didn't say, "We're done, so we'll be on our way" or anything. Just left with the backyard gate hanging wide open. And the gutters have yet to prove themselves with a heavy rain. read more

Based on that experience, I believe the communication issues that seem to plague every person hiring a contractor are taken seriously by the AGK team. SALES: Our sales rep, Matt, came to our house just a few days after we requested an estimate and spent nearly two hours with us going over options, making recommendations, and talking about various pricing. He never gave us the hard-sell once we let him know our needs were very simple, and he didn't pressure us to make a decision on the spot. PRICE: Once we got our written estimate, the price was in the middle of our 3 different company estimates. Since we liked Matt and appreciated the quality of the work they've done in our neighborhood, we put down a deposit and set a date for the installation. INSTALL: The installation crew showed up on-time and worked non-stop to get our house done in one day. Everything looked great! We chose the straight-faced gutters for a more modern look, and you can barely tell they are there. SERVICE: After installation, we noticed that we didn't like the color of our "valley shields" and asked Matt if we could switch them out for a different color. He responded immediately, and said "no problem." The quality inspector came by a week later, and I watched him go up and down the ladder all the way around the house - an actual quality check ... go figure! He even replaced the valley shields while he was there. After a few months and a couple of giant showers, the gutters work like a charm and still look great. I'll update in a year or so. OVERALL: Considering the constant disappointments we all share with contractors, we can say that Austin Gutter King is one of the good ones. read more

With all this El Niño rain, not having gutters on my house was getting extremely messy, with water cutting a trench around the roof line and splashing mud on the siding, not to mention compromising the foundation. I contacted 3 of the bigger shops in town, Austin Gutter King, Austin Gutter Man, and another which I can't remember because they never called back. AGK and AGM are both highly reputable, but AGK had a better price, and I could tell that their sales guy Jeff was a true gutter nerd. He gave me a quick no-nonsense price, didn't pressure me too much into unnecessary upgrades, and made lots of good suggestions on design and color. It took 3-4 weeks to get them out, but with all the rain, that was standard. Their installer showed up first thing on the designated day and had the install done by lunchtime. The gutters looked so good that my wife didn't even realize they were there! AGK followed up with a quality inspector, and even sent a small Xmas gift along with their comment card. I paid with a credit card, so there weren't any payment hassles; they charged 50% up front, and 50% after making sure everything was done right. I'd highly recommend them to anyone. If you own your house and don't have gutters, you should get them now! :-) read more

I interviewed no less than 7 gutter companies to get gutters on our new house. The house was large and the whole thing was going to be quite expensive and every person I talked to made me more confused than the last. Jeff Asmusen at Austin Gutter King had the advantage of being the last person I got a quote from, and he really seemed to understand what I wanted and be able to offer up good ideas, and tell me when my wants weren't realistic (in terms of rain barrels, rain chains, etc.). He left behind a very clear bid and great reference materials and information for me to digest before I made a decision. The only annoyance I had was that the gutters were installed a bit later than we expected (a couple weeks) and they were holding onto our $1,750 deposit in the meantime. I have some pretty mixed feelings about Austin Gutter King. The initial communication was just fine in terms of setting an appointment for an estimate. The salesman was very professional and didn't try to sell me junk that I didn't need. No pressure sales are a mighty good thing. After confirming a work order for our gutters with the salesman, I cut him a deposit (check for half the total amount). I was then told that it would take between one and two weeks before the installation would take place, and we would get a call then. Well, one week goes by... two weeks go by... no call. Once we get nearly to three weeks, my wife calls to check on our status. Apparently they have one man who sets the appointments, and he was conveniently out for the day. The next morning, I called as well, and the appointment fellow was again not available. That evening we FINALLY got a call back, during which he told me the crew would be out the next day at 7am. Yeah, thanks for the 12 hours notice. The crew showed up right on time, were very friendly, and had the work pounded out in just a matter of hours. The gutters look awesome, so at least the important part went just fine. The next step was supposed to be a followup call and an inspection from one of their quality control technicians. I'm still waiting for that call. They were quite prompt on sending me a bill though. So would I recommend Austin Gutter King? If you have a very flexible schedule and can be patient with a severe lack of communication, their work is great. I'm just let down by the amount of waiting and lack of any info between the initial consult and the install date, as well as afterward. UPDATE: Two weeks later, I did indeed have a quality inspector arrive to check out the gutters. Also, owner Gary Kulp took the time to address my concerns in a letter, which I greatly appreciated. It's hard to "rave" about gutter work, but these guys did a great job. They were efficient, communicated well, and the gutter work they did was impressive. The quality of the gutter installation was excellent, and the color of the materials they used exactly matched our house's trim. I'm really happy with the entire experience I had with this business. The process of getting my gutters installed went very smoothly. I called and scheduled a time to get a quote. The representative showed up on time and gave me three detailed quotes based on different price points. The representative explained each of my options, made recommendations, and answered my questions. Later that day, I accepted the quote and paid a 50% deposit. A week later, I got a call that the installer would be at our home the next day and explained that my wife and I did not need to be present for the installation. The next day, our new gutters were installed. The day after the work was complete, my credit card was charged for the remaining balance. I worked with Jeff from Austin Gutter King, who was very friendly and communicative about the work needed. Being a thorough consumer, I made sure to get a bid from another local gutter company. While more expensive, the AGK bid was more than reasonable, considering that other gutter companies are far less safe and don't bother to pay for workers compensation. Contracts were signed and the scheduling manager was to call me within a few days. The second gutter company, without a deposit or signed contract, came by a few days later and installed gutters without my permission. I didn't realize that the new gutters didn't come from Austin Gutter King until I received an invoice from the second gutter company! I explained this confusing mess to Gary, the owner of AGK, who was understanding and waived the usual 20% cancellation fee (a $450 wash). I called 3 different companies in Austin and 1never returned my call, 1 took weeks to finally give me a quote and the quote looked like it was written by an grade school child. AGK were prompt gave me a professional well written quote with pictures and options and installed earlier than was quoted. I recieved a follow up visit to check the work and make sure I was satisfied with the work preforme. My experiences with AGK are consistent with several other reviewers here... in that they were somewhat inconsistent. Overall, I had a mix of positive interactions and less that satisfactory results. Like most others, my decision to usem them (and one of the most positive aspects) was dealing with Jeff during the "sales" portion. Unlike others that I worked with, Jeff is very professional, prompt, hardworking, and knowledgeable; and as others have noted, there was no trace of the 'hard sell' that seemed the norm from other companies. And, important to me, the products that they use are very good; I had researched for months to determine that the Gutter Glove was the best leaf / debris exclusion for our area. Unfortunately, agreeing to the AGK proposal was somewhat of a turning point, with several aspects going downhill from there. My problems came with the actual installation. There was some minor damage to my house (outdoor lighting, etc) that occurred in taking down the old gutters. Moreover, installation of the Gutter Gloves to a tricky flat-roof section of the house was done poorly; they actually gathered debris and kept me out of cleaning them. And, just as bad, the 'inspections' were pretty much a friendly "hi", with it taking my own inspection of the installation to uncover the problems and it was left to me to initiate any remedy. The crew did return rather promptly, and after a couple of trips, the major issues were addressed. Dealing wih gutter companies in general can be a problem because of high-pressure sales and lack of later support. AGK is far above average in these areas. It's just a shame that their actual delivery / installation was not to the same high level in my case, and I must rate them between the 3-star "A-OK" and the 2-star "I've experienced better". I got my gutters a year or two ago and I did not like shopping around (I did shop a little. They'll tell you to check yelp... That's why I finally decided to write this review.) I ended up quoting with the 2 largest Austin gutter companies. Both presentations and promises were relatively similar. AGK ended up being less expenseive for what I wanted so I went with them. They showed up on time, followed up, took my CC payment over the phone. All was good. As a first time homeowner, I asked random questions and got answers. There are two minor reasons I deducted 1 star (and I would have given 4 1/2 stars if I could). In the initial presentation, the sales rep was bashing other companies a little (not a lot and not as much as the other company bashed AGK when told the competitor that I was going with someone else). And, there was a promise that the workers would not smoke while at my house. I think they upheld that side of the deal, but when the workers first showed up, their breath smelled like they licked an ash tray. I'm sure they finished the cigarette right before they pulled into my neighborhood. (They obviously stayed outside and I didn't talk to them after initially meeting with them, so I was bothered by it too much.) read more

I had gutters installed on my house back in May to help deal with all the rain we had been getting, and Austin Gutter King was one company I called for a quote. The estimator was extremely punctual, polite, and willing to work with me to get exactly what I wanted and where. He explained the various options and provided me with quotes for each. Installation was equally painless. The installer arrived right on time and got right to work, finishing in about two hours. Afterwords I received a follow-up call and inspection. I used them in 2008 to put gutters in. I had a problem now and was pleased to discover I had a warranty that was still in effect. Wow.

We had Austin Gutter King install their leaf-proof gutters in 2006. the salesman explained in detail the different choices and grades of materials. The colors matched the house exactly! We chose the top of the line, guaranteed for life gutters. The gutters were installed in one day. The mysterious leaking into the bottom games room stopped completely, as if miraculously, because no one had been able before to understand how water was getting in. I swear it was the new gutters. This Spring, we decided to sell out house. When we had a pre-inspection report done on the house getting ready to sell it, the inspector said 2 gutter spouts should be moved over to the right by a few inches. (Well, they had to write something to fill out the report!). I contacted Austin Gutter King by email, and the president of the company, Gary Kulp, answered the email immediately, and they did what was necessary the very next day! One of the gutters was filled up with cedar needles - not on the inspection report. One of the selling points of our house was the high quality of everything, such as leaf-proof gutters. Again, I contacted Austin Gutter King who came out and replaced 8' of the gutter with a newly-designed and improved filter system, which they described as like a high-tech coffee filter, if I have gotten that right. read more

Seems like everything went wrong on my project, from initial estimate to final correction. The employees were all very nice but there wasn't adequate communication among all the various departments involved with my simple job. It took around 3 1/2 months from beginning to end and I had to make many calls to keep it rolling along, reminding them of my project, what we had planned on, if they were coming, and of all the installation errors. Most disappointingly, the installer seemed to know what was wrong but maybe hoped I wouldn't notice? Or just went by what was written instead of how it should actually be done? One of the times I called him back, he started working on another section instead and when I asked him what he was doing he said he was installing some flashing "because I was going to need it." Why didn't he do it the first time? On another part he said, "Yah, we are going to have to do this part all over because it was too short the first time." Again, why didn't he catch the error when he was first installing? Why did he just shrug and walk away? Another time he came he didn't bring the right materials because he "hadn't read beyond the first page" of instructions. What a thing to tell the customer. During this time my credit card was billed for the final payment without notification or my approval, which I believe is illegal. After I complained about it since the job wasn't finished the money was refunded but then a project manager asked if I could just pay the final amount anyway. I had to explain that I wasn't going to pay anything while the gutters were still leaking. A project manager (there seemed to be two) gave me a price adjustment but never communicated that to billing. I was thankful for the adjustment but then the problems just kept coming. In the end all of the work had to be redone. As a former project manager, I tried giving the company some advice on workflow to give the customer a better experience. I was told this is just they way the did it. If you intend to use this company make sure to have a final inspection done right after installation rather than a "few weeks or months" after, as is their practice. Inspect and test the gutters yourself before making any final payment. UPDATE: Well, I received the letter the owner sent me below. I haven't responded until now because I was just so flabbergasted. At the end of this painful project, my brother called to talk with the project manager about our feelings about it. The project manager stood by their work, citing all the times they had been to my house to try to please me. Wow, the times they came out because the gutter was leaking, missing parts, etc. were done as a favor and not because their work was done wrong? What the heck? Gee, thanks a lot. This company seems to be immune to customer feedback, unless, I guess, if you write a Yelp review. Within half an hour of posting, the same project manager called and left a message about wanting to talk about my customer dissatisfaction. Hmm. Seemed like a waste of my time at that point. I had been giving feedback throughout the project, advising on how they might do better from the customer point of view. Each time, the response came in the vein of "that's just how they did things." Then the owner sent me a paper letter that cited my Yelp review, admitting there was a problem of communication between their departments. He then goes on to say that "failure is certain" regarding my installation and that someone should have told me along the way. !!!!! WTF Instead of following up this bombshell with what they were going to do to make things somewhat right with me he writes: "As you are aware, we made multiple trips to remedy this issue, because customer satisfaction is our primary objective." Again, WOW! Speechless. The owner then closes with a defense about charging my credit card when the installer walked off the job after the initial installation. I had advised the project manager at the time that to help the customer experience, maybe the installer or the project manager could communicate the last steps to the customer instead of leaving them hanging and then citing a contract, that in my case, had been signed months prior. It's really not that hard for someone to say something like, "Oh, hey, we wrapped up the installation today, so now we will send an inspector out in a few weeks, but before then we will be charging the balance to your card." I saw another customer had already written about how odd it was that the installer just walked off after installation without any end of project conversation. Honestly, I'm not sure how long this company will stay in business for the long term being so incompetent and tone deaf to customer feedback.
