Seems like everything went wrong on my project, from initial estimate to final correction. The employees were all very nice but there wasn't adequate communication among all the various departments involved with my simple job. It took around 3 1/2 months from beginning to end and I had to make many calls to keep it rolling along, reminding them of my project, what we had planned on, if they were coming, and of all the installation errors. Most disappointingly, the installer seemed to know what was wrong but maybe hoped I wouldn't notice? Or just went by what was written instead of how it should actually be done? One of the times I called him back, he started working on another section instead and when I asked him what he was doing he said he was installing some flashing "because I was going to need it." Why didn't he do it the first time? On another part he said, "Yah, we are going to have to do this part all over because it was too short the first time." Again, why didn't he catch the error when he was first installing? Why did he just shrug and walk away? Another time he came he didn't bring the right materials because he "hadn't read beyond the first page" of instructions. What a thing to tell the customer. During this time my credit card was billed for the final payment without notification or my approval, which I believe is illegal. After I complained about it since the job wasn't finished the money was refunded but then a project manager asked if I could just pay the final amount anyway. I had to explain that I wasn't going to pay anything while the gutters were still leaking. A project manager (there seemed to be two) gave me a price adjustment but never communicated that to billing. I was thankful for the adjustment but then the problems just kept coming. In the end all of the work had to be redone. As a former project manager, I tried giving the company some advice on workflow to give the customer a better experience. I was told this is just they way the did it. If you intend to use this company make sure to have a final inspection done right after installation rather than a "few weeks or months" after, as is their practice. Inspect and test the gutters yourself before making any final payment. UPDATE: Well, I received the letter the owner sent me below. I haven't responded until now because I was just so flabbergasted. At the end of this painful project, my brother called to talk with the project manager about our feelings about it. The project manager stood by their work, citing all the times they had been to my house to try to please me. Wow, the times they came out because the gutter was leaking, missing parts, etc. were done as a favor and not because their work was done wrong? What the heck? Gee, thanks a lot. This company seems to be immune to customer feedback, unless, I guess, if you write a Yelp review. Within half an hour of posting, the same project manager called and left a message about wanting to talk about my customer dissatisfaction. Hmm. Seemed like a waste of my time at that point. I had been giving feedback throughout the project, advising on how they might do better from the customer point of view. Each time, the response came in the vein of "that's just how they did things." Then the owner sent me a paper letter that cited my Yelp review, admitting there was a problem of communication between their departments. He then goes on to say that "failure is certain" regarding my installation and that someone should have told me along the way. !!!!! WTF Instead of following up this bombshell with what they were going to do to make things somewhat right with me he writes: "As you are aware, we made multiple trips to remedy this issue, because customer satisfaction is our primary objective." Again, WOW! Speechless. The owner then closes with a defense about charging my credit card when the installer walked off the job after the initial installation. I had advised the project manager at the time that to help the customer experience, maybe the installer or the project manager could communicate the last steps to the customer instead of leaving them hanging and then citing a contract, that in my case, had been signed months prior. It's really not that hard for someone to say something like, "Oh, hey, we wrapped up the installation today, so now we will send an inspector out in a few weeks, but before then we will be charging the balance to your card." I saw another customer had already written about how odd it was that the installer just walked off after installation without any end of project conversation. Honestly, I'm not sure how long this company will stay in business for the long term being so incompetent and tone deaf to customer feedback. In the meantime, I guess I'll enjoy my installation until "failure is certain." read more

If I could rate this company lower, I would. The gutters they installed hold water. When they finally came to look at them almost a year later, they said it was normal for gutters to hold water. Really? And I think the only reason they made the service call was because I said I needed other gutters on the back of the house. After I got the quote, they never called back nor have they come back to lower the gutter on one side so it will drain. I've called and no one ever returns my call. My original sales person no longer works there, so that adds to the problem. I wouldn't hire them if I were you! We had gutters installed on our home this summer and chose Austin Gutter King for the job. We got quotes from 2 other vendors, the price was right. There was a splash guard on our garage roof line, just a thin piece of metal that caught some water coming off of our front porch roof line. The estimator mentioned this and that there was a few ways to work around it and that we would touch on it later. Only thing was, he never did. Fast forward to the install date, the particular corner had a downspout which was only about 12 inches long and only bolted once to the front porch gutter. Additionally it was off-white (same as the rest of the downspouts to match our house) they didn't bring any grey downspout with them. This was a complete eye-sore, we originally wanted them to switch it to grey, but then we noticed that the wind was blowing the downspout such that it was not squared up any longer. We scored the splash guard and broke off the part sticking up (without damaging the roof...which was the estimator's concern) and wanted it changed to a non-downspout configuration as we were not versed in exactly what was going to happen with regards to the splash-guard workaround. They wanted to charge us several hundred dollars to come and fix the design error...I explained what had happened and after several calls to the office a service manager came out and made it right one day. Painful? Sorta... but it all wound up right in the end. That's why the review is 3 stars. Better a late review than never. I needed gutters on the house I bought. Sent out 5 requests. Several called back to the include Austin Gutter Kings (AGK) but they were busy, booked out a few weeks. One could come out on Saturday, so we set up a time, no show. No call either. This same company came out the next day, Sunday. No call. I sww a truck creeping on my road then stop for awhile taking pics of my place. I asked her what happened yesterday?Claimed they 'forgot' the appt Saturday. I asked 'why didnt you call to reschedule instead of creeping by my place and stopping to take pics unannounced?? Told them to keep creeping away. Do you know she texted me 3 times after that? One time offered a 50$ discount?? Um, no. I told her "business 101: you keep your word, if something comes up, call. I told her she lost a BIG sale and perhaps others if this is her M.O. You didn't even call to apologize you forgot but scope my place the next day." Called AGK Monday, scx next week appt in evening when I'd be home. Friendly, classy, efficient, reasonably priced. Austin Gutter King has installed whole house gutters on two of our houses. One was around 2011 and the gutters are still working and looking great. They installed them on our new house this January. They did a great job start to finish, and everything is working well. Why I did not give them 5 stars: 1. Initial quote to end of installation was about 6 weeks. Part of that was because they are busy (which is good!) and part was because parts were on back order. 2. The initial design that we were given the quote on didn't end up working properly because of a section of the roofline that isn't even, so they had to redesign that part. There was some back and forth with parts and scheduling but they came out and fixed it all to perfection. In summary, I highly recommend Austin Gutter King. They have a lot of beautiful styles and colors of gutters and downspouts, are fairly priced, and pleasers. read more

When I built my home 17 years ago here, I was lucky enough to find Austin Gutter King to install my gutters. Over the years while so much has changed in my life, I still have Gary, my gutters and the house. Whenever I call, he responds immediately and always does what he says and then some. Recently I had a painter quote painting the trim on the house supposedly finding all kinds of problems. Gary sent folks out and it was resolved saving me a ton of money (was not a problem with the gutters). Believe me when I say some times the quotes I get as a single female are rip off attempts but never with Austin Gutter King. Once again, Gary to the rescue. Finding someone you can trust for this length of time that continues to save you money while providing the best customer service is remarkable. I would NEVER use another gutter company. Quality of work was acceptable. Waiting for first rain to test if all gutters work properly. However, as mentioned by others on this review board, GK need to pay much more attention to post job cleanup. While my old gutters were taken away , the debris that fell from them was left on my deck, sidewalks and driveway. Most disturbing was the 8 - 10 screws I found hidden in the driveway debris waiting for my tires or my grandchildren to find. Still waiting for the GK inspector to stop by..... Gutter King's bid was the most expensive one I received but I chose to go with them despite the cost. I like to believe you get what you pay for. In this instance I felt short changed. Update......GK returned yesterday to double check their work and did minor adjustments. Same worker who did original installation. He was aware he missed cleanup and was very apologetic. I NEED gutters. Gutter King SELLS gutters. Good match, right? Not necessarily. A Gutter King rep was across the street giving a quote. I asked if he had time to give me one as well. He didn't have time to do that, but was kind enough to stop by, let me know they were booked two weeks out, give me his card, and recommend I contact Gutter King to schedule an appointment. I emailed the company 6/28 but haven't heard back. Such high yelp ratings too. UPDATE: While I would have been happy adjusting this review significantly higher and editing my comments had I had subsequent professional contact with Austin Gutter (and they really are in the gutter) I won't do that after receiving what I believe was a petty, petulant response from the President himself of the Gutter company: Thank you for the opportunity to be of service. As you can imagine, it gets extremely busy this time a year and we do our best to service our customers, as you can tell by our yelp reviews. I was unpleasantly surprised by your review yesterday and am concerned because it is not an accurate reflection of our service. AGK followed up with me after I let them know about my experience. The initial installer used all the fascia without having to add a board, this did not give enough slope to the gutter which resulted in the 1-2" of water being stored. After talking to AGK of options, they came out and made a fix and now the gutter drains better. It's still holding too much water. Not exactly where I'd expect them to be. Update v2 AGK came out and fixed the gutters to drain drastically better. They were professional and worked quickly. If I were putting gutters on my house or another I would definitely use them again. Thank you AGK! read more

I had two calls from Victor who does the scheduling. The second call was that I had better take the appointment or I'd go to the bottom of the list. I talked to the two men who came to install the gutters about the cleaning up of any leaves or messes. I had paid someone to clean my beds and put in new mulch. The installers blew most of the leaves back into my bed. These gutter covers are very expensive and I felt that the service I got was poor. read more

If you want to deal with an honest guy who follows through on promises, call Gary Kulp, the Austin Gutter King. He and his team recommended their Leaf Proof gutter cover product for the back of my house at a price that was in the middle of four other competitors. Because of Gary's sales skills and promises of customer satisfaction, I went with him. His team installed the Leaf Proof style gutter cover on the back of my house. We have not had much rain this year, so it was hard to determine if the Leaf Proof was working or not. But Gary kept in touch by email, and when I told him after a big rain that the Leaf Proof was not working, he and his entire team were going to come out next time it rained to observe how/why this was not working. Again, we had so little rain, we could not get the timing down on the observation, so I finally was able to observe the whys late one night and told Gary about a depressed area on my roof that was channeling water, causing it to spill over the Leaf Proof. Gary offered to exchange the Leaf Proof in that area out for the XP product. (The XP has small holes in it so the water starts draining before it reaches the lip.) He did so on three panels. The XP worked so well the next time it rained, I told Gary that I wished I had gotten that on the entire length. So Gary offered to do that, also free of charge. Another installer probably would have told me "tough luck" or charged me extra. I do not think Gary made as much on my sale as he could have, but service and customer satisfaction seem more important to him. My only complaints about his operation are that the installers left a mess on the first job and on the second installation the worker left a piece of scrap. I think Gary's team needs to work on post-job clean up. Other than that, I'm more than a fan. Gary will give you a solid bid that's probably less than most, and he'll make sure the job is done and that you are satisfied. He truly follows through. You cannot ask much more than that. read more

Austin Gutter King installed our new gutters a few weeks ago but I have been waiting for a good rain to review. We discovered that the big snow had detached and ruined half of our back gutter. I knew we also needed the front gutters at least cleaned out and screened over. Jordancame out to review and estimate; he noted that the front gutters which we had installed maybe 5-7 years ago were too small to do the job (may be one reason they kept clogging several times a year), that a "jog around" they had installed (which contributed to clogging) was unnessary forproper drainage, and were not properly anchored to the house. Long story short- we have beautiful, larger gutters with a "gourmet" screening mechanism, front and back, that are a significant enhancement to our home. The installers came out early on the appointed day, got right down to work, and were professional and plainly knew what they were doing. Emails all along the way were promptly answered. And, oh, they worked wonderfully well for todays rainstorm! read more

what could i not say that is fantastic about these guys? my brother (aka my landlord) is a major perfectionist. he met gary and crew, who literally spent hours showing him samples and answering his thousands of meticulous questions before being hired for the job. their level of patience and professionalism with my brother deserves 5 stars in itself... ...but then there was the work. i imagine that our job was one of the bigger residential projects they've probably taken on. not necessarily for the size, but the number of edges and turns in the shape of our roof is ridiculous. the downspouts had to go to very specific locations, and we had to get two sump pumps installed because our home is downhill from the street and we wanted to send the water to the curb instead of our neighbors yard. AGK coordinated a LOT of projects and people and schedules to make this whole thing come together. their customer service is really great. we had to call them back out for a few things, and they were always so responsive and helpful in fixing any issues. if you want an average job go with the other guys, but if you want beautiful gutters and fantastic customer service - go with AGK. read more

Requested these guys to come out and give me a quote based off a referral from a friend. they were prompt, thorough, and professional with the quote. My house is more complicated than the average so i expected to pay a little more for a quality job. I ok'd the work, and they put me on their schedule. when they showed up to work they were prepared and fully staffed. they completed the work in one day by staying late and getting the job done. they left my house and driveway as they found it, clean. it rained a couple days later and everything worked as it should. they followed up after that to make sure i was happy with the results. it has now been 8 weeks and i am writing this review because i believe these guys are professional and stand behind their work. recommend. read more

I purchased an Oasis Sun Setter freestanding awning in good faith from this company. I signed a contract for delivery within 3 weeks. After two weeks I didn't hear anything, so I called the rep, and when I got a call back, I was told my awning will not be delivered for at least another week because THEY WERE STILL USING IT. Can you believe that? They set up my awning at a location in Dallas. Then after they finished using it, they were going to deliver it to my home and let me think it was new. The is a very poor business practice. I would never use this company for anything, and will tell everyone that will listen what they did. All I wanted was a new awning within a three week time frame and they could NOT deliver. read more

This is a well-known and reputable company that didn't have as much lead time as comparable gutter installers. Bob was scheduling about a month ahead of the competition, which was good because I wanted my gutters installed before the spring rains. He did the initial inspection, noting that the existing gutters and splash guards were in good shape and didn't require replacement. Then he described how the new gutters would be arranged, and we agreed on that. They didn't give me a definite install date, but the gutters were up in about a month, as promised. The installers talked to me during the install to make some good recommendations. I inspected the gutters during the next storm, and it was solid. Very tight. They followed up several times, but I had already moved on to a different issue, because the erosion problem was handled. Finally they sent someone to inspect the installation and ask me about it. I had a great experience with Austin Gutter King (AGK) back in April 2013. My salesperson was Justin, who was a joy to work with. I had a few companies comes out for a bid, and AGK came back in the middle. Due to my ongoing house renovation project, the scope of my gutter job changed on several occasions as did my requested date of install. AGK was very accommodating and flexible throughout all my changes. The installers did a good job and the gutters on the whole house job turned out fantastic. I highly recommend AGK if your looking for new gutters. I was very impressed with the level of service I got from AGK and would recommend them to anyone. Needed some gutters installed with a rain barrel. The price was right, they suggested 6" gutters and I agreed. I had a few of requests during the install and all exceptions were exceeded: 1) starting point of gutter to be attached as high up on the fascia as possible since the slope would cause the bottom of the gutter to be lower than the fascia 2) rain barrel installed, they suggested I get a rain barrel from a 3rd party to lower the cost! I doubt many other installers would be that honest about pricing 3) use 20ft sections instead of 10ft, my runs were about 15ft long max so with the 20ft sections I didn't have to decide between seemless gutters or not, these were waaay cheaper and just as good They were pretty low pressure during the initial sales pitch. Plus the color turned out really great, I know I picked that part out but I am just really happy with the way things turned out! read more

I am very pleased with the outcome of my gutter project performed by AGK. Roofers had just completed installing a very expensive metal roof and I wanted something that would last long as it will. The sales rep came over promptly and listened to all my concerns about getting old and having to replace it again with retirement money. He explained all the types that could be used and would require little if no leaf removal. I made the choice and the work was completed before the weekend. I just wish my roofers had been that prompt. The final cost was reasonable for the product. I will rest comfortable for the years that are ahead of me, knowing I will not have to worry about my gutters. read more

Their price was neck and neck with Austin Gutterman, but the King offered a slightly better warranty on their installation (for the basic gutters I was purchasing). Perhaps it was the time of year I purchased (April), but they had quoted me a 3-4 week wait, then called a week later ready to install. They showed up exactly when they said, kept the job site reasonably clean, and did a great job. I had one issue (where we had given them incorrect instructions), and they came out and fixed it right away. An unexpected bonus was it actually made my roof line look much better! I am having Austin Gutter King come back out again and install gutters at the back of the home now. The good: Salesman was courteous, low pressure, professional, and knew the product. Product quality is high, installation was moderately well done and attractive. Customer service is excellent - they do what it takes to satisfy. Installation is rapid. The bad: "Inspection" is a joke. Think of it more as a redress of complaints. They'll fix it, but its up to you to find it. Testing a gutter installation should include running a hose on the roof. No such thing here. Mine had a leak, which they promptly fixed. Also, one portion of the gutters is not sloped as it should be; it is nearly level. Communication is spotty at best. They lose track of you, forget callbacks, "never received payment" (code for lost it). I had to contact them numerous times to get the process moving. They demand payment before inspection, and even though it's a 60day payment period, will hound you every other day to get it before then. The ugly: I might use them again, but for simple gutter installation only; they won't be my first choice, that is for sure. I hire contractors to get a job done better than I can in less time and less headache. I would have done a better job on the repairs (admittedly in a much longer time), and although I couldn't match their gutter installation quality, I would have gotten the slope right and tested it properly, and not had to deal with their "paperwork" pains. If they tightened up their process in logistics, they would do much better. read more

I contacted Austin Gutter King earlier this year after heavy rains caused water to come into my home. Austin Gutter King came out right away to give me an estimate and thoroughly (and patiently) went through all the options to help me get the best solution for my needs. I settled on a 6-inch gutter with mid-grade leaf guard. The projected install date was 2 weeks away, but they were going to try and fit me in sooner due to the emergency situation I was facing (having spent a lot of money to mitigate the water damage from the rain in my home). To my surprise, I got a call a few days later -- they were able to fit me in and install my gutters sooner (thankfully a day before the rains came again). The installation went smoothly and the gutters look fantastic, but more importantly the gutters work great. The recent torrential rainfall we had kept the water out of my house, which made me very happy. AGK was super professional every step of they way and I couldn't be more pleased. read more

I had a horrible experience with this company -Mostly regarding Matt in Management to Alex in Sales. Alex was sent out to do an estimate. He explained AGK's process and he left an estimate with us and told us to call if we decide to go with AGK. This was after he tried to "scare" me by telling me horrible things about competitors and their process and products. Then try to up sell me on $3500 leaf guards- this is not including the $1200 basic gutter charge. During the 40 in sales pitch, one of the things Alex explained is that AGK offers wood plugging on existing boards of wood from when they remove the old gutters. Basically they said plug old nail holes to prevent water damage. Several days later I called Matt (who is in charge mgr) and asked if we could have a discount if I gave him 3 additional friends/customer who are ready for installation as well. During the conversation I mention that I was happy to hear they wood plug etc..I was SHOCKED when Matt the gentleman in CHARGE told me with an attitude "we don't do that". I was actually complimenting them and he told me they don't do wood plugging. I said "wait hold up, Alex told me this was part of your installation process." I also said "how would I even know about this, I am not in the gutter business." He was treating me like I made this up. He was speechless and said urgently "Let me call you back". Next I hear back from Alex -Not Matt that "this plugging fee is part of the "total"cost of the estimate and Matt wouldn't know this since he never saw my property." I said this doesn't sit well with me that their top guy says they don't repair the wood after removing old gutters? Then Alex got passive aggressive and said "well I didn't know I had to list the cost of each screw, bolt and hanger etc". He was very rude in a passive manner..I told Alex "please do not insult my intelligence" I consider this a hidden cost and it should be listed. I then said and thought what else is in the $1200 gutter fee. After Alex apologized for be rude, I said "let's move forward and set a date to install the gutters". I did tell him I would like himself or a supervisor to stop over the day of installation to explain and show me what is taking place. Since I didn't trust they would repair the holes from the old gutter. He said I will and if i'm busy I will have someone else stop by". He said he was emailing me a work order to sign and Matt will call me ASAP (That day ) to set up an appointment. The next thing I get is an email form Alex who Cc'd Matt and the Owner Gary (who told me 30 mins ago he was unaware of this situation) That the company "can not work with us based on our demands". It is a blessing in disguise..I asked them to elaborate on the list of demands (I guess being an educated consumer is against their policy) Being home to watch the workers is demanding? or Catching them in a lie is demanding? and I guess asking for a supervisor to come out to show me what they are doing since they lied is demanding".. I had two Sunsetter retractable awnings installed, and AGK did as close to a perfect job as I've ever experienced. I have had a lot of work done on and around my home in the last year or so, and AGK was the only company that never missed an appointment, never broke a promise, did exactly what I asked, and left the work area at least as clean as it was before they arrived.
