I made an appointment with Orlando for a deep tissue massage. I liked that before the massage started he sat with me and asked me what has been going on in my body in depth and how he was going to work through it with me to get some relief . I feel bad leaving a not great review but it's the truth of my experience so here it goes. I called and spoke to Michelle (I think Michelle? I can't remember who called me back after my voicemail) and told her I have a bad back from being in front of a computer all day and that combined with my large bust=constant back pain. It's not a small problem it's a major issue given my age and the amount of hours I work. I realize this isn't a sports injury but since the therapists at spas never do it for me my husband bought me a gift certificate for this place hoping that they would have a better understanding of anatomy and would do a better job. I currently have to travel to a small local place in Fredericksburg to get a good massage, which is kind of far so I have been trying to find a local person. Anyway, Michelle or whomever I spoke to recommended I go to Orlando for my Deep Tissue Massage. Orlando was very humble and polite. He has a bohemian/coffee guy vibe. He has strong hands which I was initially excited about but in the end he just didn't do a good job actually getting any of my tight spots out. I felt like he wasn't feeling around for what my back needed he was just going through a routine. He did do a good job on my arms which get tight but loosening up tight muscles in someone's arm doesn't require much skill. Only one week later (my appointment was last Saturday 12/17) I'm getting shoots of pain in the center of my upper back. During the massage I never even got that awwweee feeling you get when someone really resets your muscles by getting the kinks out. Again, he had great pressure but it's like he either didn't know what to do with his hands or he didn't care to try. I also didn't appreciate him loudly yawning, continuously, throughout the massage (made me feel like he was bored and not paying attention which was clearly the case) and then at the end when I still tipped him 20% (technically slight over 20%) his response was " Wow! Thank you" as he raised his eyebrows. Which also tells me maybe he didn't try very hard because for some reason he thought I wouldn't tip because I came with a gift certificate? Overall, I wanted to give this place 2 stars because I'm annoyed that I now have to drive to Fredericksburg to get the kinks worked out of my back but I'm feeling the Christmas spirit so I did 3. In stating that, this place was a major disappointment. read more

WOW! Let me first start off by saying that I have been a LMT myself since 2008 in Louisiana. Which means I am SUUUUUUPER nit-picky and very critical of absolutely everything. The fact I was able to get in onThankagiving was pretty awesome in itself. I would drive the 7 hours back to Austin simply to get another massage!! The main office in South Austin was super easy to find. The massage room was cozy and I saw they had ashiatsu bars too! I just got a basic, firm pressure Swedish massage: but there wasn't anything really basic about Monica's massage at all. She started off by letting my choose the music (I opted for soft Flamenco) and a verbal consult of my problem areas. Most therapists just seem to do a basic cookie cutter routine, but not her. She picked out a freaking phenomal essential oil blend for me which had spruce & frankinsence in it, since I wanted something outdoorsy and fragrant. Monica is really talented and has such a great touch, and has a "fusion" style, implementing several different modalities and technique to reach my goals and sore areas. I especially love the deep compressions she did with her knees on my hamstrings and glutes. The pressure was absolutely perfect, and I didn't leave in pain, didn't have to ask for more pressure, and didn't leave feeling super oily. Two weeks ago, I was in desperate need of a same day massage when my left leg was super cramped. Austin Massage Company was able to get me a same day appointment with Erica. Erica is a miracle worker! She got rid of all of the tightness and made everything feel better. I saw her again recently and got the same awesome results. If you work out a lot and want a good massage to get rid of tension and muscle knots, Erica is amazing. Facility: Very clean and comfortable. I was there after hours and had no problems with the temperature, they must have gotten the AC issue that another client mentioned in a review resolved. I was expecting it to be more spartan since reviews mention that it isn't a 'spa experience.' The room was quiet, private, and comfortable. The music was relaxing and the lighting was ambient. They even had extra hair ties for female clients who forget them which made me smile. The waiting room had a nice mix of books and magazines for children and adults. I didn't see any kids there while I was waiting but it seemed welcoming. I also got a check in text (after they asked if it was okay) the next day to make sure that I was still feeling better after the massage. Overall, an excellent massage. I recommend getting a massage package (booking 3+ at once) since it really reduces the price per massage and you will DEFINITELY want to go back. read more

I wasn't really pleased with my experience for several reasons. I booked my massage on the weekend. The heat index was 107. Apparently the AC turns off in the office building in the weekends. It made the 90 minute uncomfortable despite multiple fans running. I think that maybe they shouldn't book clients on weekends if this is this case, especially in Texas heat. I was sweating under the sheets. I also did not like the ambiance. Every massage I have had has been low lighting, dark room, no windows, or lots of draping / shades. Minimal cheap shades are placed on office windows that barely block the lighting. My appointment was at 4:30 pm. It was difficult to feel relaxed. Overall I did not have a complaint about the massage. It was decent. Not great. Not horrible. I might have gone back if it wasn't for the above issues. For the amount I was charged I am certain I could have gotten at least AC and ambiance at a massage envy / harmony. I was looking for a step above. read more

I've been going here often over the last year and a half and had nothing but great sessions every time I go. Before coming to AMC, I hadn't ever gotten a professional, full body massage done but really wanted to find a solution for my back and hip soreness I was getting from working a desk job. The MTs do a great job of asking what specific areas need focus and communicating helpful observations/questions (overly tense areas, finding the amount of pressure that worked for me, checking if I felt discomfort). Ask for Carrie or Erica! They both are amazing at what they do and Erica even does ashi which was yet another first for me. Love this place! All the therapists I've seen are great and I like that they have a lot of experience with athletes and runners. I'm a runner and get a lot of tightness in my legs. I don't look for feel-good massages, I need it to hurt a little so I know they're getting in there and loosening up the muscle and fascia.
