Getting a new passport or even renewing an existing one is a pain and lots of things can go wrong. Even if you do everything right it can take over 2 months to get it. Passport Express changes this by taking care of all the little stuff that can go wrong for you. It is a little more expensive than trying to do it yourself (around $50 markup) but is totally worth the service. They take your picture the proper way for a passport and then give you an envelope full of stuff to take to the courthouse (located within walking distance) You give the envelope to the judge and take an oath and then give it back to ABC Passport Express. I got my passport the following week. Then when I couldn't find my receipt they emailed me a copy that I could print up and submit to my company for reimbursement as soon as I called them. Great service! Don't try and do this yourself because it lasts 10 years once you get it and it isn't worth something going wrong. read more

I went to Austin Passport Express for fingerprinting services. The entire process (on a Friday afternoon) took ~10-15 minutes (filling out forms, fingerprinting, paying). The staff was super friendly. Note: they do ink fingerprinting (not digital). For filling out 2 fingerprint cards, I paid $32 ($30 for the service + tax). I brought my own cards so I didn't need to buy any from Austin Passport Express. I had called ahead in the week to see if I needed to make an appointment. The person that picked up was courteous and told me that wouldn't be necessary. He said the best time to come in would be any weekday morning but I went after lunchtime and there was no wait! I procrastinated all summer getting a passport after mine has gone 15 years expired. I tried getting Post Office appointments or walk-ins which have very narrow appointment windows and seem to only be available cross-town. I called Passport Express to the rescue and they were very professional about getting me in and helping get me over the line. I didn't quite need the 2 day service but the 4-6 day is plenty fast. Pros: super quick and easy process. I went in to get a Canadian passport photo and they had me in and out within 10 minutes. Cons: I wanted to make sure that what they did was up to the Canadian regulations so I asked a couple questions. The responses I received were borderline rude and condescending. Basically, the interactions made me never want to return. Overall, great for getting the job quickly. Don't expect much else. read more

So I was having trouble with the on-line visa service the Brazilian government is now using, and my trip was coming up fast, so I called APE. We chatted for a while, and they said I was already doing pretty much what they would be doing to resolve the problem, and said that in my situation they wouldn't recommend me paying them to continue. I think it helps to do a quick review of what you are going to need (on the website) but I have also seen folks who don't know their ass from their elbow stumble in here, and they still make it work. It is a tiny house, full of people; everyone is bustling about. But the two times I've been I have received courteous, professional service. I needed two pictures to go on a Canadian resident card; the pics had to have certain specs (overall size, size from chin-to-crown, no shadows, date on the back, etc.) and I had trouble finding a place that could do that. Tried Kinkos, Walgreens, etc...the usual suspects. Anyways, finally I found these cats and they do this kind of stuff ALL the time. I was in and out in no time and two pics cost me $10 bucks. I pulled out my passport for an up coming trip and saw that the passport expired just days ago. I was a little freaked out and started looking into what I had to do to get the passport renewed. I found Passport Express online along with several other passport expediting services. I choose Passport Express mainly due to their location. Everything went smoothly, although its all about giving them enough time and providing them with everything they need to get the job done. I showed up on a Wednesday and got the new passport the next Friday, that's fast, but you'll pay for that: $170 to the state dept. and $295 to Passport Express. I came to Austin Passport Express for photographs for my British passport. I brought the guidelines with me and provided it to the staff. Austin Passport Express is courteous, professional and most importantly: fast. I foolishly lost my passport with less than a week until I was scheduled to leave the country. I called ahead to talk to them about my fastest passport replacement option. (Next day turnaround is only available under specific circumstances, so you must call ahead.) While next day is the most expensive option, it was cheaper than rescheduling and rebooking all my travel arrangements so I requested the next day option. The staff was polite and explained all the directions to submit my application step-by-step. Then they delivered my sealed documents via courier to the nearest passport agency (in this case Houston) and they called me the next day when my passport had been released and was on it's way back. Never book your travel without holding your passport in hand. However, if it's an emergency then Austin Passport Express is your best option.
