I'm not prolific at reviews, but this store has everything from outrageous to traditional to funky/retro. seems like every time I stop by just to browse (after lunch at top notch next door) I end up finding something to add to my home. I bought two pieces of art (wall hangings) that are truly one of a kind finds. but all of that aside, I find the staff over the top knowledgeable and TRUELY helpful. I discovered Austin's Furniture Depot after my visit to Upscale Cheapskate. This local furniture store has a Keep Austin Weird vibe. In fact, all their Austin signs and Keep Austin Weird signs were a draw to venture into the store. Austin's Furniture depot is located on Burnet Road and offers a unique mix of new furniture, statement pieces, and items from local artists. This is not your typical furniture store. Surprisingly, the Austin signs are quite affordable. I asked Shawn one of the store managers, what do folks do with all these signs. He responded by saying the put them in their homes and businesses. One of the eye-catching items in the addition to the signage, are the abstract and unusual artwork covered in shiny glass. I love abstract anything, therefore, I was very intrigued. They also had some individuals featured in the pictures with bold and colorful features. Shawn was friendly, knowledgeable, and very pleasant. This review isn't about the furniture, but about an employee, Sean. My car died while I was parked nearby, and I went in to ask for help jumping it. Sean immediately offered to assist and spent over 20 minutes making sure my car was running safely before I left. Even though this situation had nothing to do with a furniture sale or the store itself, his kindness and dedication truly stood out. I walked in and was helped almost immediately, the selection was reeeeeally good! There were a few pieces that I've never seen before, including a really cool couch I've never seen before. I do wish there were some more colorful pieces of furniture, but that's more of a preference for a colorful soul like mine. However... I will say that they have a diverse range of furniture from more old school to modern, so I would definitely say it's worth visiting! I have been looking for a recliner rocket for several months. I found one I liked at another store but to pick it up I would have to go to New Braunfels. I looked online and found that Austin Furniture Depot carried the same brand. I went in and ordered a recliner, but it did not feel right. I went to the other store and got the item number and he was able to beat the price, and get it to his store. The chair arrived at the store in three days. Very quick shipping. I hate furniture stores. Ridiculous mark ups with high pressure sales teams make furniture shopping a pain. Even when I am in the market for something, I'll end up leaving because I'm so turned off by the tactics. Came in here on a lark. I didn't even know it was a furniture store - I was really just intrigued by the large metal animal sculptures out front. The team here is helpful and do not pressure you at all. They will allow you to look around at your own pace and don't hover around you like vultures. The prices here are really fair, too. Ended up buying a dining room set when I had no intention of even going to a furniture store today or any time soon. TLDR: The reason for this 1 star review was because of the way I was disrespected, taken advantage of, and scammed via bait and switch by the owner. Honestly, I found what I thought was the perfect dining room set. I bought the furniture immediately after I saw it and was told that the set would be delivered the next week. Then, a few days later, I received a phone call saying that they were actually sold out and that they wouldn't get more inventory until after 2 months. Although I was very upset about the situation, the company suggested that I could borrow their whole dining room set (table and chairs) floor sample and swap it all out with the brand new set that I was promised and paid for, when they received their next shipment. This was what I thought was phenomenal customer service. However, after 2 months, due to covid, they had to push out another month. Again, I patiently waited. Three months later and they finally call saying the dining room set is available to deliver. However, when they get to my house, the only thing that was brought was the table. No new chairs/bench. I call Ryan, the OWNER, and ask him where the chairs and benches are. He lent me the full dining table set with chairs with the promise of swapping everything out, but when I called him he said he would only swap the table, not the chairs. This was a complete shock. First, he says that he never agreed to swap out the table and chairs, but only the table (which is a complete lie! Why would I pay full price for a floor sample, and he obviously lent me the whole set to be replaced as a whole set). After I reminded him of this, he says, and I quote, ""everything we let you borrow was brand new. The scuffed table and all the chairs were brand new. They were barely on the floor for long." His justification was that the floor samples, even though it had obvious scuff and usage, were "basically" brand new. There is a huge distinction between floor samples and brand new, ordered products. He also mentioned it was my fault for not taking pictures of the scuffs and sending it to him right away. My question was, how was anyone to know to take pictures and report it, if everything was going to be swapped out? During this conversation, he had a condescending and disrespectful tone the entire time. I honestly felt belittled after the call. What hurt me the most was that I waited patiently for 3 months, took care of the borrowed set, was extremely excited for the new furniture, and said nothing but great things about this company. Do not get me wrong, the employees at Austin Furniture Depot are amazing, however, the owner on the other hand did not stand by the principles of what was promised. I have recommended all my family, friends, and coworkers to never buy from this store. read more

I usually hate furniture shopping but Austin's Furniture Depot was a whole different experience! Instead of being followed around the store bothered by salespeople, the employees were super laid back and pointed us towards the general direction of some coffee tables we wanted to check out. That being said, the layout is super scattered and miscellaneous which makes for a fun time walking around the warehouse as you'll find tons of gems nuzzled away in random corners. Really fair prices too considering the many locally handcrafted pieces! We genuinely weren't expecting to leave with anything but are super happy with our wooden coffee table. So, a bit of background: here I am, having moved back to Austin after living in Dallas for two years. Moving locations always comes with a few casualties and my worn overstuffed chair had seen better days, so I was going to replace it with a new loveseat. I only had two requirements for my new piece of furniture: it had to be affordable and it had to be a good quality for what I was paying for. After looking and being disappointed at other stores due to high prices, I read some reviews and decided to give Austin's Furniture Depot a try. I understand we're in the middle of a pandemic, so I didn't come in with high expectations. First of all, the atmosphere is SO relaxed. No pushy salesmen following me while perusing for couches. I was greeted by Jesi, who was very knowledgeable. Not only were the pieces affordable, I was informed that I could also get a moving service for an additional $80. Yes! Looking good so far. There was a good selection and I was pleasantly surprised at my options. Jesi also even negotiated on some prices! So not only was there a variety of affordable, classic looking pieces, my couch could be moved to my apartment (for a fee of course). Also, they offer same-day delivery (it doesn't change the fee price). I decided to go with Austin's Furniture Depot and was NOT disappointed. I purchased a leather loveseat for $750. Also want give a shout-out to Shawn, who was very professional, updated me on the ETA, and drove to my apartment 20 minutes away to move in my new loveseat. Y'all are amazing! Walking in the place is totally relaxed, we were greeted, and left with no pressure. Jess was AMAZING giving us space but letting us know she was there. As you can see in my previous review I was okay with AFD - three stars is okay, not great - but after my latest visit and spending a little time with Zach its time to kick it up a notch. Previously I've been looking for specific pieces of furniture so I really didn't pay attention to anything else: I shop like a guy - I look for the one thing I need and don't notice other stuff! This week though I was trying to find outdoor furniture that was stylish and wouldn't break the bank, and I drove over to AFD. Mind you, I've looked at a LOT of outdoor furniture: most of it costs more than my first car. AFD however has a good selection of those retro 50's style lawn chairs, settees and tables, and I love mixing and matching the colors for a fun look. Zach took the time to show me the different lines, styles and colors they carry, and also talked about lead times for orders, etc. He also noted there is a discount if you buy two or more of the same item and I'm all about the discount. I ended up buying several pieces he had there (I'm sorry if you got there after me and saw the pickings were slim!) and he helped me load up what I could take, as well as stopped me from taking one item whose scratches I hadn't seen: he replaced that with another item from his stock. Let that sink in a minute: he actually noticed a defect I didn't and didn't let take the piece. Have you had the experience very often?! Me either! I did have a few items I couldn't take so Zach arranged same day delivery at a very reasonable price. The next time you need furniture - especially outdoor furniture (as it soon will be cool enough to sit outside again!) - I suggest you check out AFD and ask for Zach. All the peeps there seem cool (as noted in my prior review) but my experience shows Zach is cool. Knowledgable, courteous and helpful, he's the kind of person you want to work with when you start spending more than a few bucks on your furniture. Pretty incredible place. Everyone was extremely helpful and gave the extra effort to help out. I was looking for a particular style of bar stool but didn't see anything on the floor. They pulled out a catalog and said they could order anything I wanted and it would be there within the week. I found what I wanted and they went to the warehouse to look and came back with four in stock. They assembled at no charge (30 minutes tops) and discounted them 30% for being a discontinued model. They are as good as it gets. -also, noticed a sofa I had been looking at for more than 50% off right by the front desk. I may be going back. read more

I'm not sure what's hotter, the non-air-conditioned warehouse space that is Austin Furniture Depot...or the prices! BAZINGA! Before I buy a piece of furniture, I always check out Austin Furniture Depot. I don't fully understand the economics, but the stuff here is inexpensive. I'm talking about cheaper than Ikea. Think about it. Would you rather spend 2 hours cranking a hex wrench and sobbing, or would you rather drop in to AFD and just grab your assembled item? Take the money you have saved and buy some burgers next door at Top Notch. It doesn't get much better or more Austin than that. read more

This is one of the only stores we walked into where we weren't uncomfortably bombarded by overly pushy sales staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We ordered our couch since the floor model had sold. The online inventory had additional colors that worked even better with our space!! Our order came into stock in only 2.5 weeks.
