The official 'customer service **Austrian** (toll-free) number is **1 (888) 551-0145™ or +1 (888) 551-0145** for additional assistance. Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for passengers needing help with reservations, flight changes, cancellations, rebooking, baggage inquiries, refunds, and other travel-related concerns. The customer service team assists travelers with managing existing bookings, updating itineraries, exploring alternative travel options, and addressing questions throughout the travel process. As a frequent traveler and one world Emerald member, I generally enjoy complimentary seat selection benefits when flying with partner carriers. However, my recent experience with Royal Jordanian was disappointing. I paid an additional $140 to reserve what appeared to be a two-seat row for my wife and me. Upon boarding, we discovered that the row actually contained three seats, which made the extra charge feel unjustified, especially since no traveler willingly pays more for a middle seat. The onboard seating experience was also uncomfortable. My assigned seat, 6K, lacked sufficient cushioning, making it difficult to sit comfortably during the journey. I had to use extra pillows and blankets to support my back and reduce discomfort throughout the flight. Customer service before departure was equally frustrating. I contacted one office for information regarding my flight and aircraft, only to be transferred to another department. After several phone calls and multiple referrals between different offices, I eventually reached someone who provided the information I originally requested. The process was unnecessarily complicated and time-consuming. While the aircraft itself was modern and visually impressive, and several flight attendants worked hard to assist passengers, the overall cabin environment left much to be desired. Restrooms became untidy early in the flight, with cleanliness issues that negatively affected the travel experience. Combined with the service challenges I encountered, the journey did not meet my expectations.

I needed assistance and decided to call this business at or +1 888-478-4407 The response time was decent and the person on the line tried to help as much as possible. I had to be transferred once, but the second representative handled things better and gave me the correct information. It wasn't perfect, but it was still a workable experience. I'm leaving this review to share how things went for me personally.

Loved everything about them! I flew business class BOS to VIE and they treated my travel companion and I like VIPs. I really did not want for much, just to stretch out and relax, but they kept bringing me more delicious morsels. The seat was comfortable and the food was good. The chef and the crew went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and well-fed. I especially loved the fennel soup. I dipped m bread into it and it was quite delicious. I had the beef (not pictured because I already dug into it before I remembered to take a photo) and it was pretty delicious. Breakfast was good, but I was not super hungry, as it seems like we had just eaten recently. My favorite seat feature was the massage function. It was light, but noticeable. A nice touch.

"Is that guy wearing a chef's hat? Get out of here!! This air carrier has a personal chef?" The things that amazes a first-time International traveler. It's truly not my first time traveling out of the country, it's my first time flying out. After I've devoured my Farmhouse salad from Potbelly, the flight attendants served dinner on the plane. Sitting here, bug-eyed. Thinking, "Damn I am greedy!" As I select the pasta and mushrooms over the chicken and rice. Both dishes was served with a miniature garden salad and a cheesecake dessert - kinda like an airlines meal prep service or a healthy TV dinner. Not to mention dinner was followed by a serving of coffee or tea; then later, another round of beverages. I chose white wine to put me to sleep. Is this level of hospitality the norm when traveling international? I'm looking forward to re-creating that pasta and mushroom dish and flying with Austrian's airlines again. As if I wasn't satisfied with the economy seating which I thought was better than average economy to Austria, breakfast and lunch was also served and the client boosted my seats to premium which included ear buds, a blanket and pillow, a cup holder, and a sleep mask on my return to the states. Now I see why the Austrian Airlines host tooted my horn for having a great seat from the states to Vienna. read more

Terrible organization. Pay for extra amenities just to have them taken because of issues on their end. Ridiculous
Austrian usually perpetuates the quality of service that made them famous.but the check in was strict as they weigh in the carry ons( not more than 10 kgs)! Otherwise, the business class section was near empty; the flight attendant for this morning flight to Paris was very attentive and the excellent breakfast was promptly served: musli, croque monsieur and a fruit salad ; all fresh and the sandwich was piping hot! There were also an assortment of warm croissants and different breads. They put the light down so one can finish a nap and soon , Paris was announced. Lovely flight on a nice airline: I will use them again for sure ! read more

Hello, I am a frequent travel and i have used Austria Arilines for over 20 years now for me and my family And i have never been more discussed as of today on the flight 0769 I traveld to Denmark and iceland and i came to Vienna and than anted to go to Kosovo so my kids can get some culture back, We had wonderful flights from USA all over but when we got on this flight the flight attendant which her name was Ferus was incredibly rude and mean to everyone including my two year old and to keep her quite i gave her an ipad with very low valume and she came yelling and told me to turn it off cause its bothering her personally and when I asked her if my baby crying would bother her she said do you want to be kicked out of plane and stay in Vienna How rude?! I just cant believe that an airline like the Austria Airline would allow someone so rude for no reason and she continues to yell at everyone on the flight old an young like she is a god and everyone didn't just pay for their flights and yeah she came back and said next time you should fly privately I did tell her she is rude She didn't seem to care Anyway No one likes to be treated like garage specially after we paid so much for our flights with an airline that we grew up with I hope someone could do something about this I would appreciate feedback or a comment back or a talk to your crew read more

This is easily the worst airline I have ever flown, which was very disappointing since it is part of the Lufthansa group, and I have had very good experiences with Lufthansa. I am fairly forgiving of airline food, given the limitations of serving large numbers on an airplane, and this is the first time I would term the food actually inedible. We flew Economy Plus, so presumably what we ate was slightly better than regular Economy, not as good as Business or First Class, but I did expect it to be edible. Who thought a tasteless, heavy dumpling in a sea of bland shredded pumpkin was a good idea (no, I'm not a vegetarian, that was the only choice for breakfast), or forgot that low-priced meats could be something other than brick-like and dry? Who thought dry, stale rolls were acceptable? No cream in the creamed spinach, potatoes still hard. At least the wines and coffee were good. Service from some (definitely not all) flight attendants was rude. When the curtain was pulled separating Economy Plus from Business, I assumed I needed to use the rest room at the back of the plane, but I got grief when I was returning to my seat--the stewardess thought I was an Economy passenger attempting to explore the higher-priced sections, and she grabbed my arm and said the upper part was for premium passengers. I showed my ticket, and then was told I should have used the bathroom in front, not the one in back. (Was using the economy bathroom really an issue?) To be fair, she was nice from that point on. A stewardess on our return flight was far worse. Audio went out while the person next to me and I were watching movies, and he pressed the call button. The attendant came and spoke only to him--she actually spoke over me when I tried to explain I was having the same issue, and that happened each of the three additional times she returned to our area to see if any of the attempted fixes worked. Not even eye contact with me. Note that I am a very polite person and spoke gently and politely each time; my seatmate noticed and commented on her unwillingness to acknowledge that both of us had the issue. I would have been perfectly happy if she had just made eye contact and said something like "sorry, ma'am, we will try to take care of it," even if she had been unable to resolve the issue. I saw other attendants smiling and helping others, so definitely there were kind and attentive attendants on board. I suppose anyone can have a bad day, but I really hope not to have to fly this airline again. read more

On December 1 I had a series of unpleasant experiences caused by Austrian Airlines and its employees. Your flight OS0516 was late and I missed the connecting flight. This caused serious inconvenience, as I had an important meeting in Skopje first thing in the morning. When I told the flight attendant that I do not want my bag stored several rows behind (because the overhead bin was already packed), as I will be running to the gate, she rudely responded, "Well, next time you should book flights with more time to catch the flight." I had to remind her that the reason I would have to run is that Austrian Airlines are late in take-off. At the hospitality desk in Vienna, the staff refused to assist me because they were closing well before 11PM, even though I and other passengers were in line well before 11PM. When I demanded that they do their job, they proceeded to address me in an extremely unrespectful and rude manner. I demanded the clerk's name, so that I can file a complaint. When she refused to give it, I photographed her. This upset her, even though there are no signs anywhere that forbid taking photographs. She threatened to call the police, which I welcomed. Eventually, no police arrived. They never assisted me, in spite of the fact that the initial problem arose from Austrian being late and causing me to miss the connecting flight. I used to fly to New York all the time on Austrian. I stopped and took my business to Turkish because of your surly, rude and arrogant employees. They are bad advertising both for Austrian Airlines and for Austria. On top of it all, the feedback web address they give you at the airport does not receive comments. read more

Dear Austrian Airlines, I am extremely disappointed with the service I received on Flight OS376 from Amsterdam to Vienna on July 1, 2024. This is the second time in the past week that I have experienced a significant delay with your airline. The flight was delayed by over a day, causing me to lose an entire 24 hours. No airline representative was available at the airport to assist us, and your working space in the airport was closed. The compensation provided (€7 for meals) was inadequate and insulting. I missed a full day of work, resulting in a loss of $1,000 in salary. I am certain that other passengers also suffered significant financial losses. The hotel accommodation was subpar, and there was no provision for meals upon our late arrival. I had to sleep without new clothes, and the hotel was inconvenient. This level of unresponsiveness and lack of consideration for passengers' time and well-being is unacceptable. It's clear that Austrian Airlines does not value its customers. I demand adequate compensation for the inconvenience and financial losses incurred. This is not just about the money; it's about respect and responsibility. I believe that Austrian Airlines should compensate ALL passengers based on their daily income for any flight delayed by more than one hour. IT IS NOT JUST VOUCHER , it is cost of THE TIME, cost of UNRESPONSIBILTY. At noon when we get to Vienna , no any employee was at desk, many people with kids. The compensation 600dollars is disrespectful... this is repetitive behavior , so refund should be raised after every delay, yes , it should be reach to the level more than company can afford, because every passenger lost THE TIME! Price of it is much more higher. THE AMOUNT OF REFUND SHOULD BE EQUAL TO ALL FLIGHT INCOME MULTIPLIED TO MONTHLY DELAYED RATE OF AIRLINE!!! Please address this issue promptly. #TravelFail #CustomerService #AirlineCompensation #TravelNightmare #PassengerRights #DelayedFlight #BadCustomerService Hermine Poghosyan read more
This has to be one of the best air lines out there. What a great time on Austrian Air, Stewardess were friendly and talkative. Their seat are roomy and comfortable. We had 2 different flight on Austrian Air and both times were uneventful and great flights. Even the snack were awesome. read more

I booked a flights from ZAG to VCE, with a layover in VIE. Now, my layover was a mere 25 minutes. I take full responsibility for purchasing this in the first place, as that is clearly not enough time. Nonetheless, upon my realization I inquired with the flight attendant, and she simply said there likely wouldn't be an issue. Still, I was worried. 1) Upon landing I asked a large group around me if my wife and I could get off first, and they graciously said yes. 2) I had zero delay at passport control and security. Why I had to go through both again on a connection is beyond me, but the Vienna airport is trash. 3) I RAN. At full speed. For over 1 mile. Again, the Vienna airport sucks. Even with this combination: the kindness of strangers, exceptional luck with security, and a superhuman effort of a full out sprint (I was dripping with sweat at the end), I made it to my gate in 21 minutes, and the gates were locked. There is no possible way in any universe this connection could have been made. I am mad at myself for buying the ticket, but more mad at Austrian for having the audacity (or stupidity?) to sell it in the first place. read more

This airline first would not honor our request to refund a ticked for 5 traveler that could not make it, then when we arrived they offered vouchers to volunteers to take a later flight, but would not take ours, then simply took our spare seat away. I had purchased premium seating for my family to sit together with a small child, but they did not have our seats assigned. We boarded last. Then 2 out of our 5 bags did not make it on a short, direct 1.5hr flight. It was impossible to contact the airline, they kept giving us different numbers to call, one of which was Lufthansa. Finally two days later we received an email that our delayed luggage arrived at the destination and I took a ferry boat and taxi to the airport only to find out one bag showed up. We had to repurchase clothing for the family member, then received a note that our lost luggage was sent back to our home airport in U.S. Simply no sense of customer service. Ticketing agent interrogated us inquiring about our travel plans, flipping thru our passports, questioning authenticity. Gate agents were no help, general sense of confusion and chaos. Gate agent ran after us and plucked the spare ticket out of my hand to seat someone else. Very odd experience, resulting in cascading effect of ruined vacation. read more

My daughter and I were both booked on this flight, but a week before departure, my daughter developed a blood infection and was HOSPITALIZED for TWO FULL WEEKS! Naturally, I wasn't about to leave her. I called the airline, explained our situation and asked if they would honor a flight credit to travel at a later time. I provided a doctor's note, as well as proof of hospitalization, but Austrian Airlines was HEARTLESS and not willing to work with us or help us. Any sort of request for a travel credit on a later date was DENIED! We lost $1500+! They took our money and turned their back on us when we were at our weakest! Horrible customer support! They really don't care! read more

We flew to Amman for not one but two weddings. Both of our bags containing tailored suits, dress shoes and further accoutrement never arrived. Austrian Airlines told us they would come on the next flight at 2am. They did not. And then that they would arrive at 10am the following day. They did not arrive. We asked if we could buy a few necessary items in the interim. Austrian Airlines said they "might pay a share" of a few inexpensive necessities. We asked if we could speak with someone who would know more. They said not on a Sunday. So I am saying never, ever again with Austrian Airlines. Other airlines can at least tell you with some certainty where your missing bags are via more sophisticated tracking. Austrian seems lost in the pre-electronic age. read more

Worst airlines don't recommend on all levels. I had to check my carryon luggage and they took some of my toiletries after united said it was fine. Once I got on the plane there other passengers with fatter and bigger bags than me. Planes are old ,flight attendants not friendly and all you get is water and a piece of chocolate. Avoid this airlines at all costs. read more

Is there a "no star" option for this airline? Because one is too many! Currently awaiting delayed luggage for over two days - website says it is located in Vienna from where it was not loaded on the plane to the destination. No compensation information offered at the airport even when asked. We had to go through the website to find that out. I just called their customer service and the answer was of course, "I am sorry we cannot give you information on luggage". What in the world!! This is the second experience. the first was when we booked and was assured free of charge rebooking - I had to pay to rebook. And then when I went to the airport I found out they had rebooked me without luggage, which was included in my original booking (and also had to pay for when I rebooked of course) and had to pay extra for each piece of luggage. Don't even try to contact their customer service by phone - from most destinations you have to call a center in Vienna, is put on hold for almost thirty minutes without any help when you finally reach them. No email - just the one complaint form on the website. You fill it in and hope they get it. In short - Do NOT choose Austrian Airlines. read more

I just flew connecting through Vienna to New York - despite my ticket specifically saying I was entitled to a carry on and a personal item, despite me paying an exorbitant amount for extra legroom seats, despite being a Star Alliance Gold member, and despite clearly being 6 months pregnant, I was specifically singled out and my carry on was forcefully tagged to be taken away. It did not matter that I explained I have medicine and several things I need for the long flight, I got surrounded by 3 female staff members at the gate, who started literally harassing me, telling me that I don't need my bad and tagging it by force, against my will and my pleading. And on top of that I was rudely responded "if you want to keep your carry on, fly business class next time". Many others around had their carry on and were not forced to check it in, for some reason they decided I was the one to be singled out. And what's worse, half of the overhead compartments were empty when boarding was completed. Never before in decades of flying regularly throughout the year with numerous airlines, have I ever encountered such horrid behavior towards a passenger. Absolutely zero empathy and it felt like they literally had some latent anger against pregnant women, I still can't believe how I was treated. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AIRLINE, it is not worth your time and your money and they do not know how to value customers. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more
Pros: The flight was on time. Cons: - The check-in process in Vienna Austria was a total joke, equivalent to a three ring circus. - I waited in line for the first self check-in kiosk, which was not working due to a Windows error. - I waited in line a second time for the second self check-in kiosk, which would not allow me to check a bag. - I was then shamed for having a "Basic Economy Ticket" and sent to a real person. - I waited in line a third time for a real person, who was able to check me in, but not my bag. - I was then shamed a second time for having a "Basic Economy Ticket" and sent to a different person - I waited in line a fourth time for a second person, who was able to check me and my bag in, after shaming me a third time for having a "Basic Economy Ticket" - The security checkpoint was also a total joke, but that's a separate review. - My seat-back entertainment system was broken for the full ten hour flight, the screen said initializing. - The light over my head was stuck turned on for the entire ten hour flight, the controls to turn the light off is on the touch screen, which was broken. - Everyone else on the airplane seemed to be enjoying movies, music, and games without a bright annoying light shining down on them. - I couldn't even recline my seat without the light shining in my eyes. - There was no WiFi. - This flight was like having surgery without anesthesia. - The food was kinda gross. - The lavatories were gross, like a flying porta potty. LATE BOARDING, LATE FLIGHT, RACIST STAFF. DO NOT FLY WITH THEM!! I had an economy flight from Vienna to Frankfurt and a connecting flight from Frankfurt to USA. It was supposed to be a quick flight that's 1 hr and my ticket allowed for 1 carry-on and 1 personal item (which goes under the seat). The flight was supposed to board at 0620 but did not begin boarding until 0640. We did not depart until 0720 and original departure time was at 0700. Upon boarding, the gate attendants asked the later boarding groups to check their baggage in due to it being a full flight: I was group 3 and was not asked to check in my bag. As we started boarding group 3, I was in the front of the line to board and the gate attendant told me to step aside to check in my bag as "you have too many luggage" and I told her I'm entitled to 2 bags with my ticket and she said "they're too big" (they were within size measurements). I had a connecting flight and was not going to risk losing my baggage due to their incompetence which was demonstrated from their lack of precisement with the boarding process. She then gave me the ultimatum that if I do not check in my bag then I have to rebook my flight - the ONLY reason why I would not be understanding is the fact that she pulled me over when there was 10+ people allowed through the gate that were ALSO in my same boarding group and ALSO had 2 baggages. I will NEVER fly Austrian airlines again nor recommend ANYONE ELSE to fly with them. They're prejudice and tried to gaslight you when I've flown hundreds of time and have never encountered this issues. Disgusting staff behavior which is shown poorly with the supervisors attitude. read more

I have never been so offended by an airline and customer service before. I am not new to air travel as I have been traveling domestically and internationally for 15+ years for business and leisure. There needs to be more or better training on how to treat the customers that support your company. Without us, your company does not exist, which at this time would probably be a good thing. From the beginning of the booking of the trip until the last minutes in the Vienna Airport going home the rude and downright nasty people you employ were numerous and almost as if they couldn't be bothered. If this is a cultural thing, maybe it's time to remind them that they deal with many cultures. Let me start at the beginning with booking our trip in April 2023. I booked through United, your partner airline. While booking our trip, you decided to raise the prices by $150.00 each. I then found out that the price we paid did not guarantee us specific seats but just a seat wherever you wanted to seat us. We are a party of 4 going to enjoy the Christmas markets which means enjoy our company together. Out of the kindness of your heart, you tell us we need to pay extra for the seats we want. Now it costs us another $50.00 each. What a scam. Several months later you changed airplanes to Vienna thus changing our seats. Another set of emails to straighten this mess up and get seats WE PAID EXTRA FOR. The week before I checked all our bookings to make sure we had all the required documents. You did not have my wife's and my passport information. How this happened is beyond me as I entered all this information at the time of booking and it is part of the United Airlines website that you supposedly share information with. We go on to your website which is as customer-friendly as your in-person contact to enter our passport information. That led to 2 hours of phone calls between your customer service and United passing us back and forth like we were soccer balls at the World Cup. In the end, someone on your end said not to worry about it you will be able to enter that information upon check-in. That's two hours we cannot get back to find out this information after your app and the website kept insisting that the information needed to be entered. You need someone to redesign your website and app. Trying to find our boarding passes on the app was like trying to find a mini bratwurst on a 60 cm rollen. Finally, our departure date arrives. We get to Newark airport 4 hours before flight time. We get the first rude person in a long line of them. She looked like she was doing us a favor being there. One of our party was asked to put their carry-on bag in the test container for size and weight. It was overweight. They made some adjustments and got it under the required weight. That wasn't good enough and they were told that it would have to be checked. They made some more adjustments and went up to the counter. The woman there asked them why it was tagged for check-in. They advised her that the other woman said it needed to be checked. The counter walked them over to the same type of test container, put it in, and said that it would be fine to carry on. The counter agent looked at the other woman who shook her head no and that was the end of the discussion. You should also check your communications with United because it is sorely lacking. When my wife and I got to the counter, we got our luggage checked in and the printed boarding passes. I looked at them and asked the gentleman at the counter where our TSA pre-check clearance was. He looked as though we were burdening him with a request to be upgraded to first class. I showed him the United booking information with our TSA number. We were met with our second rude representative as though he was doing us another favor by being there. The trip over to Vienna was mostly uneventful except for the overall rude attitude from some of the flight attendants. Again, lack of customer service training? Anyone? Let's get to our trip home. Again, we arrive 3 hours before departure time. I guess you have made it part of your airline policy to get rid of people to talk to when we have questions about self-check-in. Great move that must be to save money for customer service. Fortunately, as a seasoned traveler, I was familiar with this mess. Our next encounter with rudeness was the woman attending the self-bag check-in machines. There is someone who needs an attitude adjustment. She was either born rude or you are training them that way. And the overall theme again felt like I am here doing you a favor. Time to board the plane and the overall complete controlled chaos of boarding is in full swing. As our party of four gets to the area to check in I get separated from my wife by a rude traveler. That's of course not your fault totally but maybe it's time to be more forceful in boarding according to your zone. I get to the person checking passports and boarding passes. I have my Android Wallet QR code up read more

Probably the worst flight and customer service experience ever. I buy at least 7-8 round trips per year to Europe, never seen such an unprofessional airline! Booked flight via their website. Needed to change return dates. I took literally 5 business days of daily calling and being on hold for over 45 minutes multiple times per day. After that is just disconnects. If you are lucky you get transferred to Lufthansa and then they put you on hold endlessly until it disconnects. After 5 days of calling I started reaching out to them via social media and they were able to help me via Facebook and Instagram! It is just insane how unprofessional. Since I purchased multiple tickets I tried calling again to confirm details for some minors. Again 4 days of calls, endless hold times. Finally someone picked up and created a "case" for a supervisor. this was 6 days ago.... No one ever got back to me and it is a time sensitive matter. Calling again two days in a row like 5-6 times daily. All you get it is classic music and messages how they care about customers and serve great food! There are many airlines flying to Europe and this will be the last time with Austrian for business and private travel. Going back to Turkish airlines! At least you can get ahold of them and get two bags for free, amazing food and a more comfortable seat. read more

This airlines fails at notifying you about flight cancellations. In fact, they cancelled a flight after we checked in. Despite trying to find an alternative, they stranded us in vienna at midnight and offered no accommodations. We were forced to pay 200 euros for a hotel in place we had zero plans on staying at. Not even a fraction of the cost was offered for the last minute/un notified cancellation. They say "what a pity" and tell you contact costumer service to file a complaint even though you are already talking to costumer service. We were price gauged at the airport for luggage, even though we had already paid for it through the app. First the price of checked luggage was offered at 15 euros; then up to 40, which we paid 3 different times with 3 different cc's. At the airport they told us there was an error and leaving the attendants at the gates dumbfounded. Forcing us to pay for a checked bag again. Upon opening the app while at the airport to show the charge, the app would suddenly advise us that we owed money even though we had pending charges on cc statements. The price was also increased from 40 euros to 50. Yet the attendant was asking for 100 euros. We were forced to pay this. The airline also lost out checked luggage after scheduling tight connections and almost made us lose our flight from Vienna to Paris. Luckily we made our flight. The luggage however stayed behind. We asked later that it stay at CDG that we would pick it up. Instead, they ignored "notes" and shipped our checked bag back to vienna. Costumer service again was dumbfounded and wrote more notes. Asked we call back. There was zero notification of this. We knew the luggage was in Vienna because of an apple tag. We are still sorting it out. Not only did they price gauge us after we paid for our luggage through the app, they offer no receipts. Terrible airline. Find another way. read more

The gate (Pen and its gestapo) Finally got to the gate (poor signage)...only to be told in no uncertain terms that we CANNOT SIT INSIDE THE SEATING AREA AT THE GATE because WE ARE NOT FIRST CLASS. We are economy! (Actually we had upgraded to premium...don't bother not worth it). We were pointed to 4 directions to GO FIND SEATING. Then waiting to board there were NO ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE INTELLIGIBLY. Yes they use old decrepit sound systems and there are few digital screens to let people know what's going on. Luckily we saw the fully red clothed crew marching in...so we realized we were about ready for boarding...when I say fully red I mean it. Red from top to bottom. Shoes tights...jackets skirts pants the whole shebang...I thought it was a Vegas show GROUP. Very disconcerting. So never again Austrian/Lufthansa flights for us. We value our sanity. read more
11/7/2013 This was my husband and my first time flying Austrian Airlines. We were leaving Venice, Italy and arriving in Vienna, Austria (after our 2-week trip in Italy). What a fun but heart-jerking experience, because it was our first time on a propeller plane. When I checked in at the counter, I had asked for a seat closer to the front or middle of the plane, and the attendant at the check-in counter nodded her head and said yes. With that commend, I assumed she would place my husband and me at a seat closer to the middle or front of the plane, ESPECIALLY since we were one of the first ones to check-in to this flight! When I got on the plane, our seat was in the last row of the plane! UGH. I had asked for a seat in the middle or front of the plane, as I knew I would probably feel nauseous flying on a small propeller plane, since turbulence is the WORST at the back of the plane. :( sigh Was disappointed that this request was not accommodated. I guess given that I purchased my flight through United Airlines, and I couldn't pick my seats when I made my purchase -- I was not really given a choice on the Austrian Airlines flight. :( As I predicted, the flight was quite turbulent especially in the descent part of the 65-75 minute flight from Venice to Vienna. I'm guessing it was very foggy, cloudy, and windy in Vienna as we made our approach, so the plane was rocking back and forth during the descent to Vienna airport. It didn't help that we were in a propeller plane too! I've never been on a propeller plane before, so it was very nerve-wrecking. BTW - Propeller planes fly at a lower altitude than the commercial jet airplanes, so just keep that in mind. Good thing the story ends well, and our flight safely landed at Vienna airport. The view from the plane as we entered Vienna was gorgeous - vast sprawling green pastures below us. :) ************** The 2nd part of my review is for the long-distance flight from Vienna to Los Angeles (LAX) Airport. We were in a Boeing 757 airplane, and our seats were nice and comfortable. The airplane was huge and we didn't experience much turbulence on this flight back home. There were plenty of movies and in-flight entertainment for you to enjoy during this long-haul. Every seat had their own personal tv screen so you can watch at your own leisure. I would rate this long-distance flight at 4 star experience. read more

Worst airline experience in our lives and we are seniors who have traveled extensively all of our lives. We were booked to fly from Florence Italy to split Croatia, with a layover in Vienna, Austria today. Our originating flight was delayed, thus causing a missed connection. We were sent to a holding area with literally hundreds of passengers, and were given a number to wait for information. There was absolutely no communication, with emails, orvoiceovers, so we waited over five hours for our turn. Our representative was extremely rude and not the least bit helpful. We had found another flight with another airline to get us in tonight, but Austrian airlines would not release our baggage. We were told to book our overnight hotels ourselves and deal with getting a refund later. That will be fun waiting on hold for hours. Additionally, we were not given our luggage. So my husband and I are booked in a hotel room that we found, with no luggage. This is so completely unacceptable. Never ever fly this airline. Why were we forced to wait 5 hours to meet with a rude representative, when the airline could have told us much earlier that there were no other flights today? Spread the word and do not fly Austrian Airlines. read more

The worst airline ever. Their flights are never on time. Horrible customer service with no accommodations for their customers. I will never fly with them again. read more
Wow - I was really impressed with my flight on Austrian Airlines. The check-in process was quick and efficient - you self check-in at a kiosk and print your boarding passes and baggage tags for checked bags - you then proceed to one of the automated areas to place your bag on a conveyer, scan it yourself, and it gets weighed, as long as everything checks out weight-wise - it continues on it's own. Friendly staff are standing by to help but you do this all on your own and there are a dozen or more of the self-bag drops - there were no long lines and everything went really quickly and efficiently because everyone just took care of themselves at their own pace. They're pretty strict about the size and weight of carry-ons and because our flight was such a short one on a small plane they made anyone with an oversized carry-on check it planeside which made for a comfy and quick boarding process and lots of overhead space for those of us who bring smaller bags onboard. Staff were all friendly - boarding with quick and on-time and the flight left exactly on time with a very speedy boarding process. We could learn a thing or two about how to improve airline travel in the US! read more

Flight Malaga-Vienna-Bangkok-Phuket, economy premium class. Before the flight, the paid seats were changed to seats with non-reclining backs. There is no option to change location. Written a lot of requests and silence only replies. This is a total scam!! They sell places and don't provide service. Disgusting(( read more

After emailing us to check our carry ons because they overbooked a flight. They weigh them and they are both over by .5 kg. They make us remove weight from out bags in front of a crowd. As a subsidiary of Lufthansa, I had expected comparable service. Not quite. We thought we had booked this flight on United only to discover they were acting as an agent for Austrian Air. This complicated seating which they would not offer until 23 hour before take-off and each airline tried to send us to the other. Very poor. Just after boarding, I asked for some water. I was told as soon as the stewardess could get to it, she would bring some... I never saw this or any other beverages requested. They did come by a couple of time with the cart... get all you want. Special requests are not filled. I found the crew unfriendly and not very helpful. The seating was typical with in seat viewing. Unfortunately, they moved a mother and baby to the seat behind us (from the rear) and we were kicked for nearly 10 hours. I wonder if they were a problem where they stated. :-0 I was not overly impressed and have had better international service on Lufthansa and Delta. read more
Wow. Talk about chaotic. I expect better from an airline with Austrian association. Check-in was easy enough but boarding was a cluster. The woman at the front of the line was just shouting at people to go away. There was actually no "line" really but a crowd of people wondering WTF was going on. The "extra leg room" seats costs you both more money and more space because they fail to mention that these seats have solid partitions instead of thin arm rests and the seats are noticeably narrower. I'm not a big person but damn these were insanely uncomfortable, especially on an 11hr nonstop flight (LAX to VIE). Round trip cost for 2 with extra leg room and one checked bag each on both flights totaled to just about $2,000. For that money, I'll fly British. This food on our flight was better than the food we had on British Airlines back in November, but not by much, but the unlimited drinks (alcohol included) were nice to help dissolve the aggravation. I will not be flying Austrian again, nor should you. read more

I notified the plane's staff, what I received was only a warning to get off the plane and notify the police in Mauritius. (I don't understand why they thought we would be scared?!) Ugly! I would give them zero stars if I could. That lost my luggage twice. The first time it was returned a week late and damaged. They lost my clothes, retainer, among other expensive items. Broke my suitcase. I submitted a claim four times and they continually say it isn't here. I've waited over four months for reimbursement. They owe me over $2,000 but would not pay up to the amount of damaged luggage they caused. I got a carry on luggage so I'd never have to check in a luggage again. This past trip they refused to let me bring it on the plane even though on the way to Romania I was allowed to. They were rude and threatened to kick me off the flight if i didn't check my luggage in. I'm just so fed up with them I have to leave a review to warn people. As I've left a review I have seen how many people have warned of them previously. Please read and listen! Good luck to whoever uses them. read more
There is a TL;DR at bottom First time flying EVER. I have been on buses and trains, but never before on a plane, therefore I have no other flying experiences to compare to. Web check in and others were rather painless. However, and I checked this, for some reason after I had put in my information correctly the first time, when it asked me to verify my information, it had changed my gender. Maybe it was a computer error, or maybe it was a strange way of checking if I was still paying attention... beware of this!! When I went to check in, there was no one at the desk. This took place at about 2 PM on a Monday. While I understand that there were no other Austrian Airlines flights from this particular airport until boarding for my flight began, it would have been nice if there was one person at the desk... or at least a sign saying "back in 15" Very nice of the airline to allow passengers to check an additional bag free of charge (as the flight was far from full) Plane was clean, but narrow as can be expected with planes. I'd say if you have a large carry-on that you can check for free, do it. Safety video was shown through the entertainment console in the seat in front of you with animated people, rather than a flight attendant demonstration. Flight took off about 30 minutes early, as all passengers were aboard before the scheduled take off time (and landed 30 minutes before scheduled). Flight was smooth and comfortable. Liked how the console in front had a variety of relatively new-release films, some classics, as well as music and other options. There was also the option to see flight data (speed, altitude, outside temp, location on a map) or turn the screen off entirely. This screen is also used for calling a flight attendant. Flight crew was nice and professional. I have heard many horror stories about the food on planes, but I was actually pleasantly surprised. First, not long after take off they give you "Cloud Hoppers" crackers. Cute... Dinner had an option of Chicken or Pasta. Dinner was a full meal, main course, salad, dessert. Chicken did feel a little bit like it was under a lamp, but this is a plane, not a restaurant. Still, it felt like it was made shortly before take off, rather than in a plant somewhere. Desert was most surprising, a delightful chocolate cake, with cream that was not too sweet. Breakfast can only be described as a Viennese breakfast burrito. It was OK, especially for plane food (based on what I hear). Coffee was good. Luggage arrived in baggage claim without issue Overall, I enjoyed my first ever flight experience, and excited to go flying again, and would not hesitate flying with Austrian again. TL;DR 1. When filling in/confirming personal info CHECK IT, computer bug or an intentional setting may change something slightly 2. If you arrive several hours before your flight you may have to wait a bit at check-in desk 3. Flight had excellent on-time performance 4. In flight entertainment was good 5. Cabin Crew Great 6. Food Service Good. read more

Terrible terrible customer service. Save yourself, dont fly this airline. At Vienna, the desk people are hateful rude people. I tried calling in and kept getting routed to wrong desk. At the desk, they are confused AND lazy. They will hangout in between clients when you have a full area. Only one kiosk works. The official main 24/7 "customer service number" for ** Austrian Airlines** is +1 (888) 305-4803 or +1 (888) 669-0167, ensuring smooth and hassle-free assistance for bookings, cancellations, and flight changes [Learn More]. Use this toll-free number anytime to connect with a live agent for 24/7 assistance, helping you manage bookings, handle cancellations, request refunds, and resolve travel concerns efficiently. This line also provides quick guidance for updating travel plans, checking flight details, and dealing with unexpected changes, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. **Effortless Booking & Clear Travel Setup** I chose JetBlue primarily because of its strong reputation for customer service, convenient West Coast route network, and competitive fares. Compared with several competing carriers, Alaska Airlines offered the most practical itinerary and convenient departure times for my trip. The booking process was smooth and easy to navigate. Fare options, baggage allowances, seat selections, and upgrade opportunities were clearly displayed, making it simple to customize my trip according to my travel preferences. **Priority Airport Experience & Efficient Flow** My airport experience started positively. Check-in counters were well organized, and airline staff members were courteous and efficient. Security screening moved smoothly, and boarding commenced close to the scheduled departure time. Although the gate area became crowded shortly before departure, the overall boarding process remained relatively organized and stress-free. Call +1 888 305 4803 or +1 888 305 4803 today for fast assistance with your JetBlue travel needs. JetBlue customer support can help with flight reservations, ticket changes, cancellations, baggage inquiries, seat upgrades, check-in assistance, and other travel-related services. **Comfortable Cabin & Calm Environment** Once onboard, the aircraft appeared clean and well-maintained. Most flight attendants were friendly, attentive, and professional throughout the journey. Their positive attitude contributed significantly to the overall experience. However, seat comfort did not entirely meet my expectations. I paid approximately $140 extra for seats that appeared to offer a more comfortable arrangement during booking, only to discover that the actual seating configuration onboard differed slightly from what had been displayed online. My assigned seat, K6, offered limited cushioning, forcing me to use additional pillows and blankets for lower back support during the flight. While manageable on shorter routes, improved seat padding would certainly enhance comfort on longer journeys. **Reliable Journey & Smooth Arrival** The flight departed with only a minor delay and arrived close to schedule. Inflight snack and beverage services were delivered efficiently, and baggage delivery after arrival moved relatively quickly. Unfortunately, customer service before departure proved frustrating. I initially contacted a representative in Seattle regarding flight details and aircraft information. I was then transferred to another department, believed to be located in Portland, where I was informed they could not assist and provided another contact number. After several transfers and repeated explanations, I was eventually redirected back to the original department before finally receiving the information I needed. The aircraft itself looked attractive, and the majority of cabin crew members worked hard throughout the journey. However, cabin cleanliness declined slightly as the flight progressed. A few passengers were loud and inconsiderate, while some lavatories required additional attention after several hours in the air. Although JetBlue provided excellent customer-focused service, convenient route options, and professional cabin crews, the inconsistent customer support, disappointing seat comfort, and minor cleanliness concerns overshadowed some of the positives. Would I fly JetBlue again? Yes, particularly for travel along the West Coast and across North America. However, before future trips, I would also compare fares and schedules with Delta Air Lines, Southwest Airlines, Alaska Airlines, Latam Airlines, Wizz Air, Priceline, Air France, Swiss International Air Lines, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Copa Airlines, Southwest Airlines, JetBlue and American Airlines to determine which carrier offers the best overall value and onboard experience. read more

This will be a lengthy post. I have no idea whether anyone will find it interesting. For those who read it in its entirety, I'd be interested in your views. In January 2024, we purchased roundtrip air tickets on Austrian Airlines (AA) from Dulles Airport outside DC to Vienna, Austria. We were supposed to fly to Vienna on April 29, 2024. The day before our flight, I received an email from AA announcing that our flight had been cancelled and AA would make alternative arrangements for us. I called AA quickly to make those arrangements. I made a new reservation for us on the same flight for the following day. I didn't change our return flight in October. AA allows international passengers to check in two days before their flights. So, about 40 hours before our October return flight, I tried to check in. I tried numerous times but kept getting an error message. Our reservation appeared on my AA web account and on my AA App but I couldn't check in either on my laptop or on the AA App. I called AA's customer service at least three times during the two days before our return flight. They informed me that AA was having technical difficulties with its computer systems and that we should arrive early to the Vienna airport to check in there. On the date of our return flight, we arrived at the Vienna airport about two hours and 40 minutes before our flight. We tried to check in at the self-service kiosk and an AA representative offered to help us. With her assistance, we tried to check in three times, all without success. She escorted us to the baggage service counter where she told us another representative would be able to help us. The woman at the baggage counter was able to find our reservation but not our tickets. She made some calls but was unsuccessful. After about fifteen minutes, she directed us to the AA ticket counter. We spent the next 70 minutes or so at the ticket counter working with three AA agents, one of whom was the manager. The first woman also said she found our reservation but not our tickets. She said she couldn't give us our boarding passes without our tickets. Her first solution was for us to purchase one-way tickets to Washington DC. I told her that was ridiculous; that we had already paid for roundtrip tickets and would not pay for more tickets. She said that when AA rebooked us in April on our flight to Vienna, AA had cancelled our return flight and had given us refunds of $66.90 each to convert our two round trip tickets to one-way tickets. I scoured my credit card statements and I found the AA refunds in my June statement. However, I never received an email from AA notifying me of a refund for a roundtrip to a slightly less expensive one-way trip. And, because AA had downgraded us from premium economy to regular economy from our cancelled to our rebooked flight in April, I thought any refund was to compensate for that downgrade. The manager of the ticket office was the only AA representative who actually listened to me. She agreed that it made no sense for our allegedly cancelled reservation to remain on my AA web account and on my AA App. She had added that we had done nothing wrong. The manager told us that this was the only time in her 23 years at AA that this had happened to any passengers. She told us she would figure out how to fix it. It took her another 20 minutes or so but she finally called us over to collect our return flight tickets to DC. She said she was unable to seat us together, but she'd call ahead to the gate agent to see if she could do that. We finally checked our luggage and walked hurriedly across the airport to security, border control, the customs VAT refund office, and our gate. When we arrived at the gate, passengers were already boarding our flight. The gate agent told us she would likely be able to seat us together and she was able to do that. The flight was completely full. All in all, our return trip was stressful. There was an hour or so when we thought we wouldn't be allowed to board. I wonder whether AA will credit us our frequent flyer miles for our return flight. Any thoughts? read more

Check-in counters were well staffed, and security procedures moved at a reasonable pace. Boarding began close to schedule, although gate areas became crowded as departure time approached. Inflight service was delivered efficiently, and passengers were well attended throughout the journey. After arrival, baggage handling was orderly and reasonably fast, allowing for a smooth airport exit. As an Emerald member with the oneworld alliance, I have always received complimentary seat selection on partner airlines. That changed with Austrian Airlines. I paid $140 for two seats that were clearly shown as a two-seat row. When my wife and I boarded, we discovered the row actually had three seats. No one pays extra for a middle seat -- ever. My seat number was K6, and the seat had minimal cushioning, making the journey more uncomfortable than expected. I had to stack pillows and blankets for lower back support during the flight. Most incompetent company I've had to deal with. Called someone in Vienna to get information about the plane and flight, and I was given another number to call, which I believe was in Salzburg. I called that number, and the representative said they could not assist and redirected me again. After multiple transfers, I was finally sent back to the original Vienna contact. After repeated calls, I eventually received the basic information I needed. After boarding, the aircraft itself looked clean and modern, and most of the flight attendants were professional and courteous. However, some passengers were loud and inconsiderate, and the lavatories became untidy after a few hours in flight. Wet floors and unclean sinks slightly affected the onboard experience. Although Austrian Airlines delivered strong overall service, the inconsistent support experience, seating discomfort, and minor cabin cleanliness issues slightly reduced the overall impression. I would still consider flying Austrian Airlines again, but I would compare alternatives depending on route and pricing. read more

My husband and I traveled with our 6-month-old daughter from Texas to Austria this past September, and while our baby was an absolute angel, Austrian Airlines made this trip a nightmare. Our flight from Texas was delayed over an hour because they didn't have enough staff to load the plane. This delay caused us to miss our connecting flight -- through no fault of our own. When we went to the Austrian Airlines counter for help, we were told our only options were to wait until 10 PM for the next flight or take a train. Neither was reasonable after already traveling so many hours with an infant. We asked about a refund for the missed connection and were told to email customer service. After doing so, they denied our request, claiming we had "enough time" to make the connection -- completely ignoring the fact that a customs trainee held us up by unpacking and testing every single item in our carry-ons. Because of that delay, we missed our flight and were forced to rent a car and drive four hours to our final destination at our own expense. To make matters worse, Austrian Airlines then canceled our return flights entirely because we missed the final leg on the way there. We had to pay to reinstate those tickets, and we also lost the money we spent upgrading to extra-legroom seats. Our return flight ended up in cramped seats with zero legroom, despite having paid for the upgrade. And as if that wasn't enough, when we finally arrived back in Texas, our brand new $120 suitcase was completely destroyed -- split wide open and literally wrapped in rope by the airline to hold it together. I even have video proof of them wrapping it. Throughout all of this, customer service was dismissive and offered absolutely no assistance, compensation, or even an apology. I strongly recommend avoiding Austrian Airlines. Their flight schedules are far too tight to realistically make connections -- especially for families -- and their customer service is completely unhelpful when their own operational failures cause problems. Save yourself the stress and choose another airline. read more
