This place is AMAZING. I get a massage around once a month because I have scoliosis and my back is always somewhat sore. This was the first massage I've ever gotten where I felt like every knot in my body was thoroughly worked out. Although parts of the massage were somewhat painful, the end results were worth it. The best way to describe is that feeling after you roll your legs out after a workout, but for all your tight muscles! This is the real deal - they walk on your back, they stretch you out, and you'll emerge a brand new human being. What a wonderful massage experience. Everyone was super friendly, and the location was very clean and well maintained. I like that there are actual rooms and not just curtains separating you from other people. If you are a couple they also have couple's rooms as well. We had the combo Swedish / Thai / hot stone massage. You get the best of all worlds. The stretching was fantastic and the massage really got all the knots out. They paid close attention to details by using heating oil, giving you a super cute short and tank top to change into, and you start by soaking your feet in a tub of warm water. I went to get a massage after all the reviews. I was super excited, especially since I had a slight headache from the Arizona heat. I had been in 110 degree weather all morning for hours without a break, so in addition to a couple of ice packs, I decided to treat myself to a massage. I filled out the questionnaire and I wrote down that I wanted only front stretching, no backward stretching, since that created a kink in my lower back. To my surprise, most of the massage, was back ward stretching. I kept thinking it was over and I was going to be told to turn over, but she kept going. I guess she wasn't told. It wasn't that I was being a picky client, I actually get into pain when my lower back is crunched backwards. Luckily, it was not as intense as they normally stretch you, but slow and easy, which is why I did not speak up.. the last out of three in each stretch was pretty intense however. My massage therapist was sweet and giggly, but when she turned me around and was going to end the massage with the gentle face strokes, which I had requested. I was so surprised, I did not think that the entire massage would be on my stomach with back stretches. I asked her to just stretch my legs forward (now that I was on my back again,) so that would release my lower back. She was kind and gracious, she no only stretched me out to the front as I requested to release my lower back, but she also did the gentle strokes on the face and neck and took her time. I think she might have added time to make up for it... That is a class act. Gentle and kindly the whole way through. I gave her a nice tip. As I was flying high leaving, however, I was making nice and positive conversation about love and gratitude to the shop owner, but his response was "some people are just negative.." I wasn't sure he was talking about his life, his friends, or me! I was surprised either way, since I was talking about how love created the Universe, so I believe it to be the energy of manifestation and one never has to worry about money or a job again, but his response was a negative one, and seemed like it was directed directly to me. Hey, I told him that I did NOT want backward back stretches, and that is what I got for 45 minutes! I also circled feet and ankle pain, and most of the time was spent on my back! Anyway, I left happy because the therapist did the right thing.. That is called integrity and virtue. And I was touched that she cared about my pain, my request (gentle face massage last 15 mins.) and my experience. I would recommend this place, but making sure the therapist gets your request personally. Thai massage can be pretty intense, so making requests such as "no walking on my back" or whatever, is important to be communicated to the therapist. They were very nice, but unfortunately, definitely missed the mark on the massage. I had asked for an authentic Thai massage, not combo, yet the therapist was definitely incorporating western technique much of the time - even less ideal, her hands were very dry and calloused, and there was minimal medium being used, making for a very dry rub. The Thai massage components were also sub par. It hardly represented any of the Thai massages I'd gotten in Thailand (and I got a variety of at least 30 of them during a long trip there). I've continued to try and find a good Thai therapist stateside, and they are far and few between. My biggest complaints were that when stepping on me, there was absolutely no control of how much weight/force was being applied, and in very vulnerable areas. Also, there was way too much torque being put on joints such as the knee, which could really cause injury had I not rolled my body with her, worked against her movements, or signaled that it was not good technique.
